Hey guys,

 

Lately, many people have been talking about the possibility of a new ironman mode, with the main ideas being a lower experience Ironman (without having to be an HCIM) and also perhaps a "Duo-ironman" functionality to be able to have a partner for your account. 

 

We already have many game modes, so we won't be adding two entirely separate game modes at once. On top of that, if we simply add Elite ironman with a lower experience rate and no other differences, it isn't all that different since you can play HCIM with only the death restriction (not too difficult to work around). So with that in mind, we'd like to provide some other new aspects to this game mode, with these being the possible ideas:

• An even lower experience rate, for those who want more of a challenge (around 3x)
• The possibility of having a partner (duo/partner mode), which will be optional
• Disallowing usage of Vote books and/or other experience boosts (eg. Well of goodwill)

 

The name "Elite ironman" is not yet set in stone, and it may end up being "Duo Ironman" or even something entirely different depending on how the community feels about it. We'd love to hear your opinion on this game mode, as well as any additional ideas you may have for it.

Elite Ironman would be so good! Not digging a duo mode as what if your duo partner is offline you'd need someone you can rely on, hence why ironman is so great as it is self sufficient. Lower exp rates would be really exciting and I am on board with this 

 

Edited - What if You can chose whether you would like to do it solo, or duo? So you have the opportunity to decide this?

Sounds very interesting, as pointed out by everyone else in the thread. But i would love to see this with xp rates in the middle of classic and regular ironman, instead of classic rates or lower. :)

But that's probably just because i recently started playing this classic account, so yeah..

From my understanding this would not be an option due to differences in XP rates. If the account is at a 5x or 3x xp rate it would make sense if you "de-ironed" you would go to classic to keep the low experience rate. Along with this assuming if something happened with your partner (if you chose to pair with one) you could always de-iron into classic mode or un-pair from your partner and just play Ironman with the lower experience rate.

Not that I know for sure (seeing as it isn't released content yet, lol) but I am assuming that Donator perks will be the same as regular ironman/hcim. You will not be able to buy things from the shop that benefit you (with the exception of RoW i), and you will be able to use the donator zone as well as benefit from your tiered donator rank.

I love the idea of having a more challenging Ironman gamemode without a death penalty present. My only possible issue with having a duo partner is that people burn out of RSPS and quit, in that scenario the last remaining duo partner may be discouraged in continuing to play due to the disadvantage of losing their only trading partner. Of course these players have the option of going to the classic gamemode, but what about those that don't want to?

 

It'd be nice for there to be some kind of distinction between duo and solo players of this new ironman mode and allow players to simply go solo if they so wish.

exactly. I want to duo but I know either me or my partner will quit ruining the experience for someone else. More info needed before I can vote for duo ironman, I'm on the fence with it rn but with some tweaking it could work and make Alora that much more unique.
