First list is cool to see, it's too bad so few of the first accounts are still active.

Second list is some weird version of brown-nosing

#164097 Alora Newspaper 02/20/2018

Posted by Dante on 19 February 2018 - 03:23 AM

9kptQ7T.png

Hello everyone, welcome to the newest edition of the Alora Newspaper! A lot has happened since the last newspaper.

We got a lot of brand new content with DS2 released, some major staff changes, and the new community awards are out!

1HFy851.png

The rules have not been changed since the last Newspaper, but it is always good to read over them now and again!

Keep up to date with our rules & full list can be found by clicking HERE!

XOAznLX.png

Our most recent update was dropped 04/02/18, the long-awaited Dragon Slayer II update!

Along with this major content were some other minor tweaks, fixes, and additions.

I would like to take this moment to thank Omicron for all of his hard work to push these updates!

Hey guys,

The highly anticipated Dragon Slayer II quest is now live! There is plenty of new content to hop right into, including new bosses, new dungeons, new spells, new items and much more. There may very well be some bugs as this is a large update covering a wide array of content, so as always, please make sure to report any bugs that you find in the appropriate section. Without further ado:

  • Miscellaneous:
    • Duel arena fixes:
      • Duel bug (losing items) officially fixed:
        • Thanks to @ Elvemage and @Savitr for helping to find the bug! It should now be fully patched, including the “tie” bug introduced in the last fix. Also thanks to @Thorru for help on the tie bug.
      • Multiple poison issue fixed:
        • You should no longer be able to be poisoned more than once in a duel.
    • Fixed ::punishments for players with 3 letter names
    • Lumbridge “sailing” update has been reverted/fixed. (Broken map)
    • Fixed Saradomin godsword special attack prayer bug (Prayer going above max level)
    • Battle Royale can now be 1x Combat experience or 330x (regular rate) depending on what option the host selects.
    • Trade bug fixed:
      • When a normal player traded an ironman/classic and got an error message, any other trade they tried to make afterwards (even to normal players) would be declined immediately. This has been fixed.
        • This also fixes the bug where you would lose items while trying to equip them on the Equipment screen. (related to the same bug)
    • Total level fix:
      • Total level would always be 2 higher than it should have been (due to 1 level coming from Summoning and 1 from Dungeoneering, but @uTorrent won’t let me add those updates and made me scrap the upcoming EoC update so I’ve removed them) and is now fixed.
    • Slayer helmet (i) from Black mask (i)
      • Previously, you could not use a Black mask (i) to create a Slayer helmet (i). You had to use the regular Black mask, and then imbue the helmet. This can now be done with an already imbued Black mask.
    • Salve (ei) and Salve (i) bonuses corrected:
      • Effects:
        • Salve: 15% bonus to attack and strength
        • Salve (i): 15% bonus to range, mage and melee attack and strength
        • Salve (e): 20% bonus to attack and strength
        • Salve (ei): 20% bonus to range, mage and melee attack and strength
      • Notes:
        • Salve amulets now also go to the untradeable reclaim shop.
        • These effects do not stack with Slayer helmet effects, but the highest effect will be granted.
    • Grotesque guardian jar can now be removed from your Achievement room display.
    • Fixed a bug which allowed players to use the “Preserve” prayer after a raid to keep heightened skill levels.
    • Item value fixes:
      • Completionist monkey value increased
      • Slayer helmets will no longer protect over Super combat potions.
    • Fixed a bug with crossbow fletching:
      • All combinations of crossbow limb + stock will now be fletchable.
  • Edgeville PvP updates:
    • You can no longer drop items worth 50k or more (just as it is in the regular Wilderness)
  • Master donator changes:
    • Pest control benefits fixed:
      • 6 extra points + 75k GP per round instead of 5/60k for Uber.
    • FAQ table updated to reflect proper bonuses/benefits.
    • Rainbow icon in FAQ changed to correct in-game icon.
  • Combat changes:
    • Unfreeze distance for barrage (how far your opponent must run away before your freeze ends) has been reduced from 14 to 11 steps. (To match OSRS)
      • This will make it more difficult for someone to freeze you and escape in the wilderness.
      • If your attacker is 12 or more steps away, you will be unfrozen. If they are within 11 steps, you won’t unfreeze until the normal timer runs out.
    • Dragon Hunter Crossbow Buff:
      • To match the recent buff in OSRS, this crossbow now provides a 30% damage and accuracy boost against Dragons (including Vorkath), Wyverns and Olm. (As opposed to the previous 10% boost)
  • Duo-Raid changes:
    • To make Duo raids more viable, and reduce the requirement for large parties to do Raids, Olm will now only have 2 phases when in a 2-player party. With 3 or more players, the number of phases has not changed (between 3 and 5 depending on the size of the party).
  • Boss Kill-time reset:
    • The staff team and I have agreed that the kill-times should have a fresh start in 2018 for many reasons, including:
      • Giving players a chance to compete and set new records
      • The ability to abuse some bosses in the past have skewed the kill-times
      • The ability to use a Cannon and get a much shorter kill-time than normally possible was a bug that was present for awhile, so many bosses had illegitimate killtimes.
    • As of this update, the leaderboard for boss kill-times is reset. Note that this does NOT apply to kill counts! Those are not reset (for bosses or otherwise).
  • Dragon Slayer II
    • The highly anticipated Dragon Slayer II quest is here!
      • We’ve written our own unique quest designed specifically for Alora for this quest, and there are some very sweet rewards that you’ll be able to obtain through completion of this quest.
        • You can start this quest by speaking to Glen, who is slightly east of Edgeville bank near the jailhouse. He’ll tell you that he has received some very concerning news and needs your help.
      • Requirements:
        • 6 Quest points
        • 85+ Combat level
        • Completion of the following quests:
          • Recipe for Disaster
          • Horror From The Deep
          • Monkey Madness
          • Lunar Diplomacy
      • The quest ends with the Vorkath boss fight (which can be re-entered after the quest), where you can receive the following items as drops:
        • Notable “Always” drops:
          • Superior dragon bones
            • Requiring level 70 Prayer, these bones give 150 experience (multiplied by our experience rate and any bonuses) making them the best bones in-game.
        • Notable “Rare” drops:
          • Dragonbone necklace:
            • While equipped, this necklace will restore prayer points as they are buried as follows:
              • Bones: 1 prayer point
              • Big bones: 2 prayer points
              • Baby dragon bones: 3 prayer points
              • Dragon bones / Dagannoth bones: 4 prayer points
              • Superior dragon bones: 5 prayer points
            • The necklace also provides a +12 Prayer bonus.
            • You must have level 80 Prayer to equip this necklace.
            • Note: This effect also works with the Bonecrusher.
          • Draconic visage
          • Skeletal visage:
            • This visage can be combined (with 90 Smithing) with an anti-dragon shield to create a Dragonfire ward, a Ranged shield which acts like a regular anti-dragon shield in terms of Dragonfire protection, but also protects against the icy breath of Wyverns.
              • Skeletal ward:
                • This ward can collect charges from Dragon/Wyvern breath and boost up to +50 on some of the base defence stats.
                  • You can also discharge the shield on your opponent.
          • Vorki:
            • The elusive Vorki pet has a very rare chance to drop from Vorkath.
          • Vorkath’s head:
            • This rare drop can be combined with Ava’s accumulator to create Ava’s assembler, an off-blue coloured device which has an 8% higher chance of saving ammunition.
              • It is also the best-in-slot cape for Ranged attack bonus.
              • You can combine this with a Max cape to receive a cape with the same bonuses and effects.
          • Jar of decay:
            • You can use this jar to add a Vorkath display in your house.
        • Vorkath boss:
          • The undead dragon is one of the most difficult NPCs to defeat in the game, with numerous attack styles:
            • Melee attack (if in range)
            • Magic attack (bright blue projectile)
            • Ranged attack (spiked ball)
            • Dragonfire types:
              • Normal (red)
              • Poisonous (green)
              • Pink dragon fire — disables all prayers upon impact.
              • High-damage dragon fire projectile
                • This projectile can be dodged, and should be, as it can one-hit you (can hit up to 99)
                • If you are standing 1 tile away from the explosion, you will be dealt half the damage.
                • If you are standing at least 2 tiles away, you will not be dealt any damage.
            • Special attacks:
              • Poison pool:
                • Vorkath will launch acid across the entire area, which you should avoid as it damages you very quickly. Immediately there-after, he will begin to spit rapid dragon fire at you, which you must dodge by running around the map while avoiding the poison pools.
              • Ice dragon fire:
                • An icy dragon fire will be launched at the player which freezes you in an ice barrage. The very next attack will be a zombified spawn which Vorkath spits into the corner of the map, which will immediately start walking towards you.
                  • This Zombified spawn will suicide attack you, and since you cannot move, you have two options:
                    • 1. Use “Crumble undead” to 1-hit KO the spawn
                    • 2. Try to kill it with regular attacks. If you do not get it to 0 HP before it reaches you, it will damage you based on how many hitpoints it has left.
          • You can use the Salve amulets against Vorkath as he is undead.
          • Vorkath can be assigned as a Slayer task (boss task) assuming you have defeated Vorkath at least once.
      • Quest rewards:
        • Access to Vorkath fight
        • Access to Myth’s guild
          • You can purchase a Mythical cape on the top floor, as well as the Dragon square shield right half and Dragon metal shard.
        • Access to Myth’s guild dungeon
        • Access to the the Metal dragon labratory, where Rune and Adamant dragons can be found
          • These drop components to form the new dragon equipment (see below)
        • Ability to make Super antifire potions
          • You can crush Superior Dragon Bones with a Pestle and Mortar, and then mix them with a regular anti-fire potion to create this potion.
        • Access to the Wrath altar, which can be used to craft Wrath runes with level 95 Runecrafting (for use in conjuction with the new Wrath spells)
        • Perks:
          • Speak to Ellen in the Myth’s guild to toggle the following perks:
            • Ability to auto-note dragon bones/dagannoth bones that are dropped
            • Ability to auto-note Mole skins/claws that are dropped
  • Wrath Runecrafting:
    • Players who complete Dragon Slayer II can now craft Wrath runes!
      • These runes are used solely for the new Surge spells in the Modern spellbook.
      • These grant 8 experience per rune (multiplied by your skilling experience rate and any active bonuses)
      • You can find this altar by entering a cave in the southern part of the Myth’s guild basement, which will bring you up to the island south of the Myth’s guild which contains the Wrath altar.
  • Surge spells:
    • 4 New spells have been released!
      • You do not need to complete the new quest to use these. These spells are only available in the Modern spell book.
      • You must use Wrath runes to cast these spells, obtainable by either purchasing from other players, or crafting them yourself in the Myth’s guild with completion of Dragon Slayer II and 95 Runecrafting.
    • Spells:
      • Wind Surge
        • 81 Magic
        • Max hit: 21
      • Water Surge
        • 85 Magic
        • Max hit: 22
      • Earth Surge
        • 90 Magic
        • Max hit: 23
      • Fire Surge
        • 95 Magic
        • Max hit: 24
  • Dragon Equipment:
    • You can now create the following pieces of Equipment:
      • Dragon Square shield:
        • This shield can be created by combining the left and right halves of the shield (left half from monster drops, right half from Erdan’s shop on the 2nd floor of the Myth’s guild) with level 60 Smithing.
      • Dragon Kiteshield:
        • This new shield can be created by combining the Dragon square shield, Dragon metal slice, and Dragon metal shard with level 75 Smithing.
      • Dragon platebody:
        • This new platebody can be created by combining the Dragon chain body, Dragon metal shard, and Dragon metal lump with level 90 Smithing.
      • Dragon crossbow:
        • This new crossbow can be created by combining Dragon limbs to a Magic stock (purchased from the 2nd floor Myth’s guild shop) with level 78 fletching, and then with crossbow string.
        • You must have 64 Ranged to equip this crossbow.
        • It can fire up to Dragon bolts (see below) and has a special attack which drains 60% of your special attack bar and hits any enemy in a 3x3 multi-combat area. The primary target will take 20% more damage, whereas other targets will take 20% less damage.
          • For example, if the damage is 10, the primary target will be hit 12 and other targets hit 8.
          • In single-way combat, the attack will still work but only on one target with 20% extra damage.
  • Dragon bolts:
    • (Not to be confused with Dragonstone bolts)
    • A new type of crossbow bolt can now be created!
      • Dragon bolts can be fired from:
        • Dragon crossbow
        • Dragon hunter crossbow
        • Armadyl crossbow
      • To created this type of bolt, you can use Dragon bolts (unf) on feathers, and then on bolt tips. They can be enchanted thereafter
  • Award system update:
    • The previous maximum of 15 awards showing when someone posts has been increased to 25.
  • Fixed “Recent Activity” on profiles not showing up for players with spaces in their usernames.
  • Master donator “shimmering effect”

We tried to squeeze in many different pieces of content for players of all game modes, and we're optimistic that everyone can find something to enjoy in this update  :)

This week I've decided to Interview 2 staff members from the community I hope you guys enjoy what they had to say!

The first person I interview is Pkdealer!

Greetings.

XufWhat is your favorite thing to do away from your computer chair?

Pkdealer: I really enjoy going out with my friends, especially with my best friend we usually hit the gym 4 times a week. I'm also a huge anime fan so when I'm away from the computer I am either friends as previously stated or I am reading some mangas.

XufWhat would be your dream job?

Pkdealer: My dream job would probably be a professional bartender, I currently work part-time at my stepdad's bar as one, but I think in the future i'd like to go work to a bigger bar and learn more than I already know about it.

XufWhere do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Pkdealer: Honestly I don't really know I am one of those people that enjoy taking things one step at a time. I am currently wrapping up school, after that I'd like to take one year off everything to just relax and do whatever I feel like, so I am really uncertain about that. But as I previously stated maybe learning more about bar tending.

XufWhat is your favorite piece of clothing you have?

Pkdealer: My hoodies for sure. I have over 30 hoodies, I enjoy wearing them whenever for example this exact moment. They're really comfortable to wear especially during the winter.

XufWhat is your biggest pet peeve?

Pkdealer: Fake people. I absolutely hate someone that pretends to be your friend just to get something out of it and when you need his/her help they turn their back on you.

Xuf: If you could visit any place in the world right now for free, where would you go?

Pkdealer: If I could visit any place in the world, it would for sure be Egypt. I am a huge fan of everything ancient related such as pharaohs and such. I believe that Egypt's culture is full of that and that I would love to visit their many museums and such and of course visit the pyramids and the Valley of the Kings.

XufWhat would need to happen on your “perfect day”?

Pkdealer: The perfect day in my life would be the day I meet the girl of my dreams.

XufIf you could wake up tomorrow gaining one new quality or ability, what would it be and why?

Pkdealer: Oh that's a rather easy one, that would be the ability to teleport. I could teleport to any place that I thought. Most people would say "Oh I'dlike to be immortal" ..but everything in the ends dies and u don't wanna get stuck alone LOL.

XufWhat is the most notable accomplishment you have achieved?

Pkdealer: I played Runescape for 72H straight with a few friends in a skype call.

XufWhat is the most important quality you think you should have, and why?

Pkdealer: Honesty. I feel like that's the most important quality that you should have because lying to others just to make them agree with you isn't really that good in my opinion. Honesty will help them improve in whatever areas they're lacking or just criticism in general.

Thank you for taking the time for this interview Pkdealer, some interesting answers!

Next on our list is Lowkey!

Greetings.

XufWhat do you wish you knew more about?

Lowkey: Honestly wish I knew more on how to win a PUBG game, (even though I recently copped my first W with my boy F8) Anything IRL I pretty much know everything I wanna know about, the older you get the more you learn so no need to rush it.

Xuf: What are some small things that make your day better?

Lowkey: Well for starters my day is automatically better if I wake up and don't have to piss like a racehorse as soon as I open my eyes. After that, when my daughter wakes up it always makes my day better. (even though I wish she would sleep an extra hour some days) Just being around her & her personality really just brightens my day and it often reminds me that I'm very thankful she's in my life.

XufIf you could be any age permanently, how old and why?

Lowkey: I would want to stay 17 years old just so I didn't have to start working, paying bills etc. Basically just want to sit around and play Alora all day.

XufIf you didn't have to sleep, what would you do with all your spare time?

Lowkey: I would probably just go full send on Alora and play 24 hours a day.

XufWhat is the most annoying question that people ask you?

Lowkey: "Can you help me?" (kidding) No question really annoys me IRL or on the internet.

XufWhat is the first song that comes to your mind that you have completely memorized?

Lowkey: Vanessa Carlton - Thousand miles

XufWhat is something that you hope never changes?

Lowkey: Myself, just because I've seen people change around me for certain people or certain situations. I'll always be me and nobody will change that.

Xuf: What would you most likely become famous for?

Lowkey: Probably nothing honestly, not something I'm interested in either.

Xuf: In what situation or place would you feel the most out of place in?

Lowkey: feel comfortable in any situation really, I love talking to people and meeting new people whenever I can. So It's pretty hard to make me feel out of place.

XufWhat dumb accomplishments are you most proud of?

Lowkey: I won a spelling bee back in middle school. Probably my proudest childhood moment, my mom was so proud of me for an entire year (I'm no longer that smart btw)

Thanks Lowkey for the interview! Great answers to those questions!

#163834 Regarding Recent Downtime

Posted by Omicron on 18 February 2018 - 11:52 AM

Hey guys,

I’d like to sincerely apologize for the lengthy downtime today. An exploit was identified on our website which urgently needed to be fixed, and we took extra time to ensure that we’ve properly patched this exploit for our security and that of all of our users.

It is impossible to have a perfectly secure website in today’s world, and as a result, it is something that most, if not all large websites will have to deal with at one point or another. We have done our best to ensure that this issue is patched, and we’ve increased our security to prevent this from happening again in the future. Your account should not have been affected by this, and neither has the trading post or any other website/game functions.

While your accounts and all personal data are safe, we will be forcing you to change your password every so often (starting today) and will continue do so in the future so that players do not recycle passwords between Alora and other websites. We are currently setting the frequency of password changes to 60 days and will change this if required.

The staff team and I would also like to thank all of you for your patience not only today, but through any road bumps that Alora has had in the past, your support means everything. :)

Regards,

Omicron

#156119 [WARNING] Regarding Recent Phishing Scams

Posted by Omicron on 26 January 2018 - 11:06 PM

Hey everyone,

It has come to my attention that recently there have been some emails and messages going around about an Alora Beta Client that players can test and possibly receive tokens from. This is a phishing scam, and is not affiliated with Alora, so if you see/receive these messages/emails, please disregard them, and report the accounts that are sending them. It would be best to inform other members/friends in-game of this scam, so that they can avoid it if they are not active on the forums. and do not read this thread.

Cheers,

Omicron

#155775 How to get HD (OpenGL) working on Mac OSX High Sierra / Mojave

Posted by Omicron on 26 January 2018 - 06:06 AM

How to get HD (OpenGL) working on Mac OSX High Sierra / Mojave

Note: This solution still works on OSX Mojave 10.14, tested October 2018.

Hey guys,

So after recently upgrading my Mac from Sierra to High Sierra, I noticed that HD was broken. I tried re-installing Java 1.6 as outlined in my other tutorial, but I had no luck getting HD to work again.

I decided to dig deeper into this to figure out what the problem was, and although there was no easy way to get it working again, I’ve found a solution that some of you may find useful. It comes down to moving a few files into the correct directory (as the location has changed in Mac OSX but we need them in the old location). This will work for High Sierra and presumably any future releases.

NOTE: This is ONLY for users of High Sierra. If you are on Sierra or a previous version of OSX, your HD should work fine without this tutorial!

IMPORTANT: Firstly, make sure that you follow the Java 1.6 tutorial found here:

http://www.alora.io/forums/topic/15711-how-to-get-hd-working-on-mac-osx/

Step 1: Disabling System Integrity Protection (SIP) and allowing hidden files to be seen

Once Java 1.6 is installed, we’re going to have to turn off “System Integrity Protection” (SIP) on our system as we’ll need to have more access to it.

Here’s how you can do this:

Follow these steps to disable SIP:

  • Restart your Mac.
  • Before OS X starts up, hold down Command(⌘)-R and keep it held down until you see an Apple icon and a progress bar. Release. This boots you into Recovery.
  • From the Utilities menu, select Terminal.
  • At the prompt type exactly the following and then press Return: csrutil disable
  • Terminal should display a message that SIP was disabled.
  • We’ll also need to run another command to be able to view hidden files. Enter the following and then press Return: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
  • From the  menu, select Restart.

rootless_launch_recovery_terminal-100617
rootless_terminal_command_recovery-10061

At this point, your Mac should be loaded up and your “SIP” disabled, as well as hidden files now being visible. As I mentioned earlier, we need to copy and paste some files from one directory into another.

First, we’ll find the files and copy them…

Step 2: Moving the necessary files to the correct location

  • Open up Finder, and on the top bar (very top of the screen) you can click Go -> Go to Folder… (or use the Command(⌘)-Shift-G shortcut) and then type in “/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Libraries“. This will take us to the folder where we need to copy files from.
  • Once you are in the Java libraries folder, you’ll see a bunch of files. What you want to do now is copy all of them (Command(⌘)-A and then Command(⌘)-C).
    • Optionally, you can copy and paste these into a folder on your desktop to make sure you don’t need to come back here.
  • Now that those files are copied, we’ll need to go to the second location where we want to paste the files. In Finder again, on the top bar (very top of the screen) you can click Go -> Go to Folder… (or use the Command(⌘)-Shift-G shortcut) and then type in “/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/“.
  • Once you are in this folder, you’ll need to right-click and select the “New Folder” option. Name this folder “Libraries” (case sensitive!).
  • Enter the newly created “Libraries” directory, and then paste your copied files into it (You can use Command(⌘)-V to paste them in).
  • Almost done! Alora should now be able to run in HD. Read on for Step 3 to make sure we re-enable your SIP as this is crucial for your Mac’s protection.

Step 3: Re-enabling System Integrity Protection (SIP) and (optionally) re-hiding hidden files

Note: Please do not overlook this step. It is a hassle rebooting again, but you MUST re-enable your System Integrity Protection (SIP). You just need to follow Step 1 with slight changes:

  • Restart your Mac.
  • Before OS X starts up, hold down Command(⌘)-R and keep it held down until you see an Apple icon and a progress bar. Release. This boots you into Recovery.
  • From the Utilities menu, select Terminal.
  • At the prompt type exactly the following and then press Return: csrutil enable
  • Terminal should display a message that SIP was enabled.
  • OPTIONAL: We can also run the other command to hide “hidden” files again. This isn’t necessary, and I personally keep my hidden files all visible, but if you’d like them to be hidden then you can enter the following and then press Return: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
  • From the  menu, select Restart.

That’s all! Your computer is secure once again, and you should now be able to run HD on High Sierra!

If anyone finds this too technical for them or they do not want to take any chances, send me a PM and I would be glad to hop on TeamViewer to help you out where I can. Of course, you will need to do Step 1 yourself as it requires rebooting your Mac and I cannot stay on TeamViewer for that portion.

Enjoy  :)

Regards,
Omicron

The rule's book has been recently updated. Please acknowledge these changes:

Date & time of updated rule: 12/30/2017 8:06 PM GMT

Updated section: 11. Providing Fake Evidence

Time or date that the updated rule(s) will be put into effect: Immediately

Part(s) added, changed or removed: RED

The attempt to use of fake evidence is prohibited on Alora; This will result in a permanent ban from the community, both on the forums and in-game. This includes evidence submitted in a report, an appeal, or to defame a user in any section of the forums.

Brief explanation (optional): Players who attempt to provide fake evidence (whether its a PM from a different server or just photoshopping something from Alora) will not be allowed in the community as it's almost certainly only used with malicious intent.

-----------

Date & time of updated rule: 1/17/2018 7:55 AM GMT

Updated section:  1. Flaming, Disrespect, Harassment and Inappropriate Content

Time or date that the updated rule(s) will be put into effect: Immediately

Part(s) added, changed or removed: RED

• a. The use of inappropriate, slanderous and/or disrespectful language towards another’s race, belief system, mental health, ethics, or sexual orientation is not tolerated whatsoever. Although we have an effective ignore system, we expect our members to be courteous towards one another.

Brief explanation (optional): Any harassment towards a person's mental health will not be tolerated.

-------------

Date & time of updated rule: 1/19/2018 12:42 AM UTC

Updated section:  3. Spamming

Time or date that the updated rule(s) will be put into effect: Immediately

Part(s) added, changed or removed: RED

Spamming on Alora is not allowed, as it causes disarray throughout the server. We aim to maintain a cordial, pleasant atmosphere on Alora. We expect our members to be respectful to one another. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a 24 hour mute, followed by a 48 hour mute, and finally, a permanent mute. If excessive enough, the wrongdoer can be given an IP-Mute, and, finally, a permanent ban will be put into effect if deemed necessary. If the content of the spam contains terribly inappropriate, derogatory, or offensive text, the wrongdoer will receive the latter.

• a. If a member acquires a donor status that has a fairly short yell cooldown timer, that does not give them the right to abuse it under any circumstances.

• b. An auto-typer is allowed via public chat. However, one must have at least 15 second intervals between each message with or without an auto-typer.

• c. Excessive begging for personal gain will not be tolerated on Alora.

Brief explanation (optional): This is intended to combat players who are constantly begging for items/gp and acting as a nuisance to others. This rule may be edited to place it in a better category in the future if necessary.

-------------

Date & time of updated rule: 20.01.2018, 8:09 PM GMT

Updated section: 13.c

Time or date that the updated rule(s) will be put into effect: Immediately

Part(s) added, changed or removed: RED

Ragging is prohibited in the wilderness or ::edgepvp on Alora in its entirety as it negatively affects our PvP community as a whole and debases the dignity of PvP. Alora's definition of a ragger is one who consistently goes out of their way to disrupt someone's experience in the wilderness or ::edgepvp by attacking them repeatedly (staff discretion will be used when infracting someone for ragging). All ragging reports must be reported with sufficient video proof. First offenders will serve 5 hours in jail, followed by a 24 hour ban, with an ending result of a permanent ban.

Brief explanation (optional): This rule is changed to classify ragging more appropriately.

The Updates that come out on 01/17/18 was huge! The following was added;

Dragon Slayer 2 Development

The next update will be more targeted, as it will mostly be Dragon Slayer II content, which was released just over a week ago on OSRS. We’d like to get this content into Alora as soon as possible, and have already gotten a decent amount of work done towards this.

mNvURxC.png

This content includes:

  • Vorkath boss fight
  • Myth’s guild
  • New items such as:
    • Mythical cape
    • Wrath runes
    • Dragonbone necklace
    • Superior dragon bones
    • Ava’s assembler (with Vorkath’s head)
    • Skeletal visage / Dragonfire ward
    • Dragon crossbow / bolts
    • Dragon kite shield
    • Dragon platebody
  • As well as content such as:
    • Surge spells
    • Wrath altar
    • Myth’s guild
    • Rune / Adamant dragons
  • General updates:

    • Combat changes:
      • Fixed tricky combat bug:
        • If two players are fighting each other and are both red-barred (1hp), and player 1 attacks player 2 as player 2 is teleporting away, of course player 2 will not take damage, but if player 2 has vengeance active, they will not take any damage but player 1 will take the vengeance recoil, causing player 1 to die.
          • Recoils/vengeance on players who are in the process of teleporting will no longer work.
            • This also applies to phoenix necklace, barrows armour stat reducing effects, poison, etc. (will not work if the damage player is in the process of teleporting)
      • Risk protection changes:
        • Minimum risk amount to be able to attack anyone (regardless of their risk vs yours) is 2.5m gp (risked, meaning items kept on death do not count towards this 2.5m requirement).
          • This amount was previously 7.5m but we have lowered it as the risk protection system is mostly in place to prevent hardcore ragging with no risk, but a player with 2.5m risk should definitely be able to attack any player that they want to in the wilderness.
      • Dragon claw special attack buff:
        • The accuracy (chance of hitting on any 4 of the attacks) of the claws’ special attack has been considerably increased.
      • Armadyl godsword special attack buff:
        • The accuracy of the AGS special attack has been considerably increased.
      • Saradomin god sword special attack fix:
        • Previously, the special attack would not heal you or restore your prayer if you hit 0.
          • The special attack will now always heal at least 10 hitpoints and restore 5 prayer points (default if you hit less than 22 damage).
      • Fixed a bug with XP drops:
        • If you used a special attack weapon with 2 hits but 1 XP drop (eg. Dragon dagger special) and the first hit was a 0, the XP drop would not show until the next hitsplat. This has been patched.
      • PJ timer in Edgeville reduced:
        • ~5 second timer for most of wilderness  (unchanged)
        • ~8 second timer for Edgeville only (reduced by 2 seconds from 10 seconds)
      • Dragon spear special attack fixes:
        • Fix Dragon spear special attack retaliation:
          • If someone attacked you with a Dragon spear and you attacked them back, you would get skulled. This has been fixed and you will no longer be skulled upon retaliation.
        • Push direction:
          • The direction which the target is pushed into was incorrect. It should now push them in the opposite direction of the attacker.
    • Giant mole changes:
      • Glitch fix:
        • The mole would sometimes get stuck in a wall after digging underground. This should no longer occur.
      • Wyson the Gardener Mole skin/claws exchange rate:
        • As requested by the community, the exchange rate for mole skins/claws has been heavily boosted.
          • Previously:
            • 20 skins = 1 bird’s nest
            • 10 claws = 1 bird’s nest
          • Updated:
            • 3 skins = 1 bird’s nest
            • 2 claws = 1 bird’s nest
        • Increased chance to get a good nest (clue / god egg) from Wyson by nearly 30%.
        • FAQ:
          • Why not update to 1:1 as it is in OSRS?
            • On OSRS, the nests that are given by Wyson never contain Bird’s eggs or Clue scroll nests. On Alora, God eggs are a possibility making the nests from Wyson more valuable which means we need to adjust the rate a little bit.
              • If requested by players, we can remove the god egg / clue nests from Wyson and make it a 1:1 exchange, but keep in mind that these god eggs can allow you to obtain Evil chicken suit pieces which are relatively rare and tradable.
    • Crystal halberd imbuement:
      • Crystal halberd can now be imbued through an imbuement scroll.
        • The imbued version of the halberd provides the following benefits over the regular version:
          • +2 Strength bonus
          • +3 Prayer bonus
      • The Crystal halberd (i) can no longer be purchased from the Slayer reward shop.
    • New QOL commands:
      • ::hs <name>
        • Will take you directly to a player’s hiscores page
          • You can still type the command normally (::hs, ::highscores, ::hiscores) to be taken to the main page if you do not want to input a specific player’s name.
      • Staff commands:
        • (See below)
    • Slayer changes:
      • Slayer fixes:
        • Baby blue dragons now count towards Blue dragon Slayer tasks.
        • Baby red dragons now count towards Red dragon Slayer tasks.
        • You can no longer receive Superior slayer encounters in the Grotesque Guardian instances (they could appear after killing Dawn or Dusk which is not intended).
      • New tasks:
        • Barrows brothers can now be assigned as a Hard slayer task (18-64 assigned)
          • Each brother killed counts towards this task, rather than each chest opened.
    • Gem rock mining buff:
      • Gem rocks now last 3x as long before running out of ore.
      • Gem rocks will now give Opals/Jades far less often.
        • Gem rocks will now give all other gems more commonly to make up for the reduction in Opals/Jades.
    • Quality of Life abbreviations:
      • To make searching for items/NPCs easier, we’ve added the following abbreviations:
        • NPC drop searching:
          • Mole = Giant mole
          • Zam (as well as the previously accepted “Zamorak/zammy”) = K’ril Trutsaroth
        • Trading post item searching:
          • Gmaul = Granite maul
          • Tsotd = Toxic staff of the dead
          • AGS = Armadyl godsword
          • SGS = Saradomin godsword
          • ZGS = Zamorak godsword
          • BGS = Bandos godsword
          • ACB = Armadyl crossbow
          • BCP = Bandos chestplate
          • DFS = Dragonfire shield
    • F2P Shop update:
      • Pizza has been added to the F2P shop (only the non-ironman version of the shop).
    • Barbarian assault icons are now tradable.
      • Includes: Attacker, Collector, Defender and Healer icons
    • Lunar spell book update: Flax Spin spell:
      • The flax spin spell is now functional!
        • You must have a Magic level of 76 to perform this spell.
        • Up to 5 flax will be turned into bowstrings upon casting this spell. If you have less in your inventory, it will spin as many as you have.
    • Edgeville PvP added:
      • You can now fight other players in the Edgeville PvP area!
        • You can reach this area by typing ::edgepvp or using the Teleport wizard and clicking on the PvP teleports (will place you inside the bank)
        • Features:
          • There are no targets here.
          • There is no risk protection here.
          • The only safe-zone here is within the bank.
          • You can attack any other player who’s level is within 15 of your own.
          • You can still receive PKPoints for killing other players here.
          • The map is classic Edgeville (without the home area’s custom edits)
            • The only differences here being that the Well of Goodwill, as well as a tree north of the bank have both been removed.
            • The wilderness ditch, as well as the trapdoors around the map have all been disabled.
              • With that being said, ladders around Edgeville can still be used.
    • ::skull/::skullme commands added:
      • These commands, as the title intends, will skull you if you type them into your chatbox. You will be first shown an “Are you sure you wish to do this?” confirmation dialogue with a yes/no option before skulling.
    • Cleaning cloth is now available:
      • Use this item on any imbued items (eg. Berserker ring (i)) to unimbue them. Keep in mind you will not get back the imbuement scroll! Same goes for any painted items (eg. Green Dark bow), you will not get the pain back.
      • How to obtain:
        • Regular/Ironmen/classic can both purchase this item from their respective General/Supply shops.
      • Example items:
        • Fremennik rings
        • Crystal halberd, Granite ring, Salve amulet, Slayer staff, Wilderness rings, etc
        • Ornamented items (eg. Dragon defender, Occult necklace, Dark bows, etc)

    Bug fixes / miscellaneous updates:

    • Banking fix if bank is full:
      • Previously, if your bank was full, you could not deposit more of items that you already have in your bank. You can now deposit existing items without the error message.
    • Ring of Life / Defence skullcap fix:
      • A major bug with these items caused them to teleport you home instantly when attacked, even with high hitpoints. This has been fixed and the items should operate as intended.
    • Event manager rank collars changed on the forums and in-game.
    • Christmas event + Giveaway have been removed:
      • Christmas mesh net / barrel bomb have been removed.
        • Unfortunately the mesh net was a temporary item and OSRS has removed it from their cache.
          • Anyone holding these items from the Christmas event will now be holding a piece of cabbage instead.
    • Fletching bug fixed:
      • Fixed a bug that allowed you to fletch very quickly.
    • Godwars dungeon aggression distance:
      • Minions within the boss chambers would often ignore players and not attack them after a certain distance.
        • All minions within these chambers will now be aggressive throughout the whole room and attack any players who are within the room.
          • This also applies to instanced rooms.
    • Raids changes:
      • Muttadile healing has been nerfed:
        • Mostly intended to make solo raids easier, Muttadiles will now heal less HP and have less time to heal.
          • With this change, Muttadiles also heal slightly less on team raids, but it will likely not be as noticeable.
    • Killtime record fix:
      • A bug when determining whether your fight with a boss was a team fight or a solo fight has been fix.
        • Previously, if the boss hit you first and you had Vengeance or a Ring of recoil on, the recoil or veng would be the first thing to damage the boss, meaning your kill time would not count as a solo record and would not be logged. This has been fixed, and recoil/veng will no longer mess up your kill times.
    • Boss failed retaliation bug:
      • Sometimes, certain bosses would cease to attack players whatsoever (eg. Bandos, Giant mole, etc).
        • I believe that this bug has now been patched, but since it is difficult to reproduce, there is a possibility that the fix did not work. In this case, please re-report this bug and I will look into it further.
    • Item changes:
      • Wise old man’s santa hat is now tradable.
      • Santa suit (regular) is now tradable.
      • Iban’s staff now requires 50 Attack and 50 Magic to wield.
      • Pharaoh’s sceptre can now be claimed by ironmen/classic from their collection boxes.
    • Demonic gorilla fixes:
      • Demonic gorillas safe spots have been patched.
      • They can no longer switch prayers as quickly as they could before. The delay between their prayer switches has been doubled to make them easier to fight.
    • Item TP values fixed:
      • Strength potions (1-4)
      • Imbued Fremennik rings (Berserker, Warriors, Seers, Archer) now all have a proper item value.
    • Prayer fix:
      • A bug with prayer which could be exploited through Banshees and other prayer-reducing NPCs has been patched (negative/unlimited prayer).
    • ::watchbr bug:
      • Fixed a bug where you could ::watchbr from an instance (eg. Kraken room) and then when you stopped watching you’d be in someone else’s instance.

    Staff updates:

    • UUID banning:
      • Staff members will now be able to ban problematic players with a more secure method, through their computer’s UUID. This cannot be easily changed the way as a MAC address can and is unique to your computer using the serial number of your BIOS chip.
        • Commands:
          • ::uuidban / ::muuidban (manual)
          • ::liftuuidban or ::removeuuidban or ::unuuidban
          • ::getuuid
          • UUID will also now show/link players on usage of ::ru (For Global moderator+)
      • The staffCP has also been updated to allow viewing/searching of UUIDs in logs.
    • Punishment note system:
      • Staff members can now leave notes on bans/mutes/jails/mutes/ipmutes/etc.
        • When handing out a punishment, the staff member will be asked if they’d like to leave a note for future reference and for other staff to see.
        • (See below for command)
    • New staff commands:
      • ::scp <name>
        • Will open a player’s staff CP page
          • You can type ::scp without a username to be taken to the main panel to manually search.
      • ::logs <name>
        • Will open a player’s log history
          • You can type ::logs without a username to be taken to the global logs page.
      • ::punishments or ::punish <name>
        • Will open an interface showing all of the player’s current/previous punishments, as well as any notes left by the staff member who punished them.
          • Note: Pay attention to the names on the list, if you search for “Omi”, punishments for both “Omicron” and “Omipure”), for example, could show up.

This week I've decided to Interview 2 staff members from the community I hope you guys enjoy what they had to say!

The first person I interview is Classic dew!

Greetings.

DivaWhat is your best childhood memory?

Classic dewIn 8th grade I ran the 800m at state and finished first place shortly before passing out and getting a concussion. It was 100% a great memory.

DivaWho do you most admire in life?

Classic dewI most admire Jeff Cavaliere who is a physical therapist and strength training coach that puts out a lot of science based exercises to help the masses for free.

DivaWhat is your strongest personal quality?

Classic dewOptimism. No matter what happens I can always find a bright side to things and find a way to enjoy whatever I am doing.

DivaIf you were president, what is the first thing you would do?

Classic dew: Build the Mexican border wall (in certain locations) to help reduce illegal immigration and send as many illegal immigrants as possible/I would also decrease exports since we produce an adequate amount of food and other resources to sustain ourselves.

DivaWhat is a skill you'd like to learn and why?

Classic dew: I would like to learn the skills of being a blacksmith. I already enjoy melting things down and making ingots of different materials in a home-made forge. I think that having the ability to make your own weapons would be incredibly important in the event of a loss in power, or zombie apocalypse. With the fact that my wife speaks multiple languages, does pottery, is a seamstress, and I am going into medicine, I feel that we would be set up to strive in any environment no matter the circumstances.

Diva:  If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?

Classic dew:  I would like to witness any of the battles of either world war. The fighting and tactics used along with the miserable conditions all sides endured is insane and I would simply like to meet and talk to any of the soldiers who had the mental stamina to withstand what they saw and went through.

DivaWhat’s the best thing that happened to you last week?

Classic dewLast week I got confirmation that my paperwork will be going through to finally start physical therapy for my shoulder, which I injured over 8 months ago. I have been in immense pain since I injured my shoulder, and it was the injury that lead to me joining Alora (Small miracles). Either way I can’t wait to strengthen my shoulder to the point it no longer dislocates or has a subluxation issue while walking down stairs or running.

Diva What were you like in high school?

Classic dewI was just like I am now, but with less patience, and slightly less respect for others. I was also very thin, but very athletic. I ran track, played American football, and played soccer.

Diva: If you had to change your name, what would your new name be, and why would you choose that name?

Classic dewJameson Winners. Why not? I like Jameson and I am always a winner.

DivaLastly, what are your plans for 2018?

Classic dew: I intend to get all 200ms in classic, rehab my shoulder so I can get into great shape again, get into shape to participate in a body building competition, get accepted into a good Physician Assistant school down south, hit 7 years in the US Army, knit 3 scarves, and graduate with my bachelors with a 3.8+ GPA.

Thank you for your wonderful talk, Classic dew.

Next on our list is Endeavor!

Greetings.

Diva: What is a skill you'd like to learn and why?

EndeavorLearning multiple languages. I've always been interesting in learning new languages but it's like my brain shuts off. I can comprehend the information as I read it but my problem lies with retaining it. A couple of languages I'd like to learn and become fluent in is French, Spanish and Japanese. I think it'd be a great ability and would even love to use it during travels.

Diva: What’s the best thing that happened to you last week?

EndeavorJust a few days ago actually, I received a paper in the mail stating I am officially debt free! That's so exciting for me considering how long I've been paying towards them and how often my state taxes were taken from me to pay them off. Good riddance, debt! So so happy for that!

Diva: If you had to change your name, what would your new name be, and why would you choose that name?

EndeavorOddly enough, I have thought about this before. I don't know why but I have. If I were to change my name to be anything other than Brandon, it would probably be Vincent. I chose Vincent for my son's name because it has a decent amount of nicknames and to me, it's a fairly strong name in general. Since my son's name is Vincent, my next choice is Anthony. No idea why.

Diva: If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?

Endeavor: I honestly don't know. If I go in the past, I'll probably alter an event and make the present worse. If I go into the future, I might witness something horrible I have to expect at any given time. I'm completely content being where I am presently. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.  :P

Diva:  What were you like in high school?

EndeavorI was definitely the class clown and class sleeper not that I'm proud it. I was initiated as a freshman by a group of seniors. They came over to my house at 5 in the morning and made me put on a clown costume, shoes and clown makeup. Not only was it embarrassing, my family knew about it and let it happen. When I go to school that morning, there was only 10 or so students throughout the entire school that were chosen to be inintiated. Long story short, nobody was surprised and I left school during 3rd period. LOL. A typical day for me in high school was hearing my name being called to the Principal's office for who knows what reason. Still managed to snag a 3.0+ GPA (could be better - I know) even though I didn't participate in HS as much as I should have.

Diva: What is your strongest personal quality?

Endeavor: My strongest quality is being willing to take a punch from anyone and still treat them with dignity. I've always cared about the good in everyone and strayed away from the bad. My mom used to tell me a smile could change a person's life without even knowing it. I'm not one that can become easily frustrated or angry so 99% of the time, I'm smiling. I carry that with me everywhere I go.

Diva: If you were president, what is the first thing you would do?

EndeavorIf I were president, I'd reduce interest and tax on school loans and provide everyone free two year degrees (Associates) with a variety of payment methods to make their lives easy during schooling and shortly thereafter.

Diva: Who do you most admire in life?

EndeavorMy kids. There's no doubt about it. I feel like my advice is great and useful but I've learned so much from being a parent and raising my children. They are well-behaved and the best manners. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Diva:  What is your best childhood memory?

Endeavor: My best childhood memory was when I was 11 and my family moved out of the city onto a 40-acre plot of land to tend to my grandpa's farm after he passed away. That same year, my stepdad bought my older brother and I our very first dirt bikes. Our stepdad made a dirt track for us and my love for bikes started from there. I miss those good ol' days since we ended up selling grandpa's land along with ours to the DNR for wildlife conservation. No regrets whatsoever.

DivaLastly, what are your plans for 2018?

EndeavorOne of the hardest goals of this year I chose to tackle was reducing the amount of sugar and caffeine I consume. I do still drink SOME caffeine but the amount I reduced is phenomenal. The first week or two I was suffering from massive and nasty headaches but that part seems to be over with. I didn't realize how much a sugar "detox" of sorts can be so horrible. It does feel good. I also quit smoking last year so with sugar and quitting smoking, food tastes better so that's a win-win right there!

Thanks Endeavor for the interview!

#152971 Thieving Stalls 99+ and Donor ranks

Posted by Endeavor on 20 January 2018 - 09:58 AM

I think it's a great suggestion but I don't support it. I'd much rather have a way to obtain Rogue set that pickpockets twice the loot + experience and other viable Thieving methods. A different method of this could be the Ore and Gem stalls in Mor Ui Rek. Since these stalls aren't currently coded, we could give these stalls lower respawn times (currently in osrs, the ore stall is a 60 seconds respawn while the Gem Stall is 180 seconds); different respawn times for different tiered donator statuses. This is just an example. Like I mentioned, I'd rather see different alternatives.

#151645 January MOTM (Poll)

If Salter doesn't win we riot. Good luck everyone else!

#151441 January MOTM (Poll)

Posted by Dumbshit on 16 January 2018 - 04:42 AM

100% Salter.

He's is one of the most relaxed player I've seen online, he assists as much as he can while also being friendly, he doesn't get toxic or anything if you flame him either. Pretty chill & mature player that totally deserves the MOTM!
