Hey Omnicron!


Hope you are well.


Had an idea about ironmen! It would be really awesome if regular and hardcore ironmen could form a bond with another player, and allow trading between the two – only those two though.


I think it would make it really fun as you could start a new grind with a friend and help each other out.. I.e one gets food whilst another gets pots, one makes arrows whilst other makes bows and armour etc…


Of course this wouldn’t work with ultimate ironmen!

Should be able to connect with another Ironman and you are locked together for 2 weeks - to stop people connecting and disconnecting as a means to trading etc.

Omicron wants to make this server as much like OSRS as possible, so I don't think this will get added. Like the idea though.

Why can't you do it with an unofficial account? 
Set up some ground rules and do it on two regular accounts.

Exp rates are too high on regular accounts for it to be a proper challenge, which a lot of people are after. Only HCIM offers it currently.

Just saying, if there's any type of duo getting implemented into the game. I'd say duo slayer first, before this. (If this was a thing)

It seems to me that iron men complain about the regular exp rates being too high, but then the proceed to complain about things that ironmen can't do and think they need special treatment, I've seen suggestions before where it is suggested that it should be 'Ironman' only.

 

Ironmen know what they sign up for, surely trading would make it easier. If you need an item like a blowpipe, but suck at Zulrah, learn Zulrah.

 

Iron man mode is the game as it was originally indented. Fletch to make your own arrows and bows, fish and cook to eat and so on. Essentially it's solo survival. If you don't like the game mode, then perhaps a normal account and 200m exp would be a better fit for you.

Once again, set some ground rules and a milestone - you'll be able to achieve those and it won't be our fault if you break your own groundrules for the non-official gamemode.

Just on a side note; If you have the will power, this is possible. 'A Friend' made a YouTube series about is where his username was 'SoloOSRS' and he was very successful in doing this.

 

I think if a new game mode was to be introduced, it should be something like no extra exp rates. An exact replica of OSRS and then perhaps people could play without complaining about exp rates, but could then also trade like suggested.

The same argument could've been made for the other ironman modes, but here they are. 

 

Duo/group ironman has been suggested on OSRS many times, there's clearly demand for it. I don't really see a downside to it seeing how easy it is to implement.

Other modes are found within OSRS, I've done a search on Duo Ironman and found a couple of reddit threads with 0 upvotes, and comments stating the same thing I have said. Seems like the people who want it are people with no self-control to prevent themselves from trading other people if they have access to it.

That argument could be made on OSRS but not here where the XP rates change so vastly between game modes, imo. Doing it on regular accounts would become dull as it takes like a day to max with the xp rates on a regular account and the whole purpose of it would quickly be gone.

 

Just like regular iron man, but with a small social aspect. I just don't see the downside to it as it such a simple feature takes next to no development time.

I think you underestimate how much work actually goes into creating other gamemmodes to streamline it to make things like this possible.

At the end of the day, if you'd like this now you'll have to go via the unofficial way.
