Just a simple idea i thought might be good for new players. (ive seen it in a old server a couple years ago that is down now).

 

when you right click on a skills icon it says "view (skill) guide" & when you click it, it pulls up the scroll to show what you can do at each level etc.

 

You could add a second right click option that says "(skill) forums guide" or something and when they click that. it brings them to a good guide for that skill on the forums.

There is already pinned guides of forums for skills. i guess those are just really good guides, descriptive, w/ pictures etc.

just make it pull up those. can let new players know about that option in the beginner book.

 

-I think it will make it fast for new players to find help in whatever skill they want.

-It bring more new players to the forums

-Some players may actively be making descriptive, up to date guides, w/ pictures etc. trying to have their guide used.

 

idk i just liked the idea and would be easy to add.

 

i was talking to a server helper. & he informed me that we did have rooftop agility after i already got 99 on one acc & 92 on another from wilderness & was about to go to wilderness on my new hc (lmao facepalm).

IK that that is my dumb mistake but thats just what made me think of this.

If it's done properly it could help a lot of staff and new players - depends on how much dev time this would take if it's worth it in the end.

yea ::guides is already a simple version of this idea. i was just adding too it to make it even more convenient for new players.

players would be sent directly to a guide for the skill they need and not be looking through them for it.

 

Also like someone just mentioned it would be good for the staff too.

That aside it still aint a priority. but i do a little dev. myself and it wouldn't be that much work either.

Most annoying part would be picking the best guides for each skill to be used & copy/pasting the links into the code for the button commands.

 

just a thought but having a guides making competition could bring good guides and help with forums activity as well.
