This is a top 3 server (number 1 on runelocus) and sadly pking on here is dead. This is an amasing server, but sadly has no pking community. 

I believe that pking is a massive part of rsps (a large number of rsps playerbase) I firmly believe that if we were to create an active pk community that we could increase players by 25-50% (These percentages are arbitrary, my point is that there is a large untapped demographic) 

 

I believe that adding a better incentive for pking would help to create a more active wilderness. 

 

Feel free to add your suggestions or to disagree with me on mine. 

 

I believe that adding statuettes as pk drops would add a bigger incentive to pking, and make it more proffitable for the risk (Monetary reward for each statuette to be considered as we don't want to ruin eco) 

 

Weekly or daily tournaments could be held, with the top pkers of that day/week getting a reward. 

 

Sorry for poor formatting, and if my suggestion is short sighted as this is more to create a discussion on what we can do to make the wilderness more active, and potentially attract pkers from other servers that aren't joining because of the lack of Pking activity on this great server :)

Personally I love the idea of tournaments during the week. If we could mimic something like the PvP Tourney we had at the release of classic I think it would add a lot more players to the community.

 

Weekly leaderboards with prizes either weekly or monthly.

Yes tournaments would be a good way to increase activity, maybe have dailys/weeklys and monthlys with different rewards.

I don't pk but, having an active wilderness regardless would help server so i support

:) Thanks for your support, do you have any suggestions on what you think would help create a more active pking community on here? At least increase number of edge pkers?

I am a pvmer but i always support benefits to the pvp community as well. I wouldnt know any suggestions because I do not pk often but hope something comes along that helps you guys out and the server grow

I disagree, and we already have emblems, statues would just make it rather op.

 

You can't add something into the game and expect everyone to go pking, it just isn't natural, Take the crystal monsters for example, they got added into the wildy with the key/blood for a chance at rare loot.

 

How many kill them now? it dies off because if you want to admit it or not this is a pvm server, pvmers don't pk and you cant force them into the wild just because the new content requires you to do it.

 

The only thing i'd agree on is the tournys. As we ideally do them anyway on server event days

 

Even old school runescape has a dead wilderness, & they have thousands of players.

I feel a big reason for wilderness activity, or lack of, is the invested time needed for most (newer) players to get the decent gear needed to PK worth the risk in the first place.I am referring to "most players" that don't stake or gamble or are new to Alora. As ClassicMax mentioned, adding more drops to a player kill isn't much incentive due to emblems etc. I'm not a PKer. If you add more drops, it won't convince me to risk what I have. I've seen many Alora PvP videos and most of the players have end-game gear from raids. Unless a player is a pure fighting another pure, most of the gear I've seen in these videos are semi-expensive and that's not something these players want to risk. Most players that hop on and want to PK have to spend countless hours obtaining the gear/money (without donating, gambling or staking) to have the fun they were expecting to have when joining. And after they DO join, they realize they have to grind to get something they're willing to risk only to rinse repeat.

 

Edit: I'm not saying it's hard to obtain gear. What I'm saying is that Alora isn't a server one can jump on and expect to PK right from the get-go. Alora isn't a PvP-ready server. Although I'm not a Pker, I'm not ignorant to the fact that there are elements missing and/or changes needed for a broader PvP community.

It's not the server I feel like, it's the overall culture of 07 & by extension RSPS. As we venture into No XP Waste: The Game/HardcoreUltimateClassic-ironmanscape territory, people are more focused on cutting a tree for 200 hours or killing Zulrah 7,000 times instead of PKing. With that being said though, I feel like a PvP world with maybe 1.2x XP rates and 1.1x unique drop rate anywhere that isn't a player owned house or a bank would definitely would do wonders for the pking community. Let the ironmen skill/kill bosses, pkers will try to kill them and those pkers will be hunted by other pkers in turn. Just my two cents

edit: Also fixing things like the re-freeze timer & tree hugging would VASTLY improve NHing on here.

As so many people spend so much time galavanting around the home/starter area, why not add unique cosmetics (NOT CUSTOM DONOR GEAR) that people can show off? 

 

I personally do not PK because I can make and hoard more cash hourly doing other activities than freezing someone and pew pewing them - that is basically PKing, right...
