#39568 [1/5/17] OSRS Bank, Clan chat ranks, PKP updates...

Posted by Omicron on 05 January 2017 - 06:20 AM

Hey guys,

I hope you all enjoyed your holidays the past few weeks! To start the new year off, we've decided to correctly re-do Alora's bank system, so that we can have cool things like placeholders and a main tab that shows all other tabs. We've completely redone the code for the banking, and we're sure you'll enjoy this update! Unfortunately your bank tabs will be reset, but you'll have an easy time getting it all set back up with the new mechanics :) Additionally, the much needed Clan chat ranks are also released, as this has been due for a long time now.

  • [Updates]
  • Technical:
    • Changed the way the trading post/clan chats are saved to reduce stress on the server
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Christmas event removed
    • Trade screen fixes:
    • Fixed trade screen not showing "Other player has accepted.." which broke on the last update
    • Switching has been improved even further(sometimes on 5+ way switches 1 item would not equip)
    • There was also an issue where the client would sometimes try to click another item on a right-click option. This has been fixed.
    • Fixed sound effects for wind spells
    • Gulls(seagulls) near Relleka now fly around as intended
    • Although Wyvern bones experience was fixed in a previous update, the experience received for bones on altar
    • was not fixed. It is now correct and matches Dragon bones.
  • Client fixes:
    • Toggles should now be updated more quickly:
    • Eg. if you click the run/quickpray orbs, they should update instantly, they were previously delayed
    • This also fixed piety/chivarly delay when being clicked, as well as the improper sound.
    • Fixed small issue with hitpoint orb icon
  • Clan Chat Ranks completed:
    • You can now rank friends in your clan
      • All ranks work properly
    • Minimum ranks
      • You may set a minimum join rank
      • You may set a minimum speak rank
      • You may set a minimum kick rank
    • Kicking:
    • You can now kick others from your chat, which will ban them from re-entering for 30 minutes.
      • To unban them, you can simply set them to any friends rank higher than "none".
    • This allows us to set official CC ranks for things like: Ironman CC, Gamble CC, etc.
      • These ranks will have to be set manually by staff to people who are worthy of a rank, eg. Knowledgeable and helpful ironmen, or trusted hosts.
  • Banking system redone to match OSRS
    • Main tab which allows you to view/drag between all other tabs
      • Searching between all tabs at the same time
    • Less delays when switching between tabs
    • Less bug-prone code
    • Tab header options(Roman numerals/digits)
    • Bank now remembers the last position you were at rather than resetting to the top
    • Bank allows you to withdraw-*last_amount* that you withdrew
    • Scrollbar scaling
      • The scrollbar will now fit to the size of the items in the interface
    • Placeholders
      • Placeholders can now be set/released.
      • You can also toggle the placeholder setting so that placeholders will always be set when an item hits 0.
  • Magic mechanics fixed
    • Splashing spells will now still reward you with the base experience(for Magic, but not hitpoints)
    • Damage map fixes for players using Magic
  • Dragon claws added
    • Dragon claws are now available in the PvP shop
    • We've even managed to use the real 2010 graphics/animation for the Dragon claws
      • The OSRS team re-designed it, but it wasn't quite as smooth as the original!
    • All OSRS bonuses/special attack mechanics
  • Wilderness changes:
    • Changes to "Eligibility" for PKP/emblems:
      • To receive emblems/pkp, and from this update forward also killcounts and killstreaks, you must:
      • Kill someone risking at least (Combat level 100+) 100K or (Combat level < 100) 50k
      • Kill someone with a different IP than you
      • Kill someone with a different MAC than you
      • Kill someone who you haven't killed within the last 10 minutes
        • A new "map" has been created to remember everyone who you've killed rather than 1 person
        • *This means if you are not eligible for PKP on a kill, your killcount and killstreak will not increase
    • Emblems now award PKP as well as GP at these rates:
      • Tier 1 120k GP 96 PKP
      • Tier 2 200k GP 160 PKP
      • Tier 3 320k GP 256 PKP
      • Tier 4 480k GP 384 PKP
      • Tier 5 800k GP 560 PKP
      • Tier 6 1.4m GP 826 PKP
      • Tier 7 2.4m GP 1128 PKP
      • Tier 8 3.6m GP 1843 PKP
      • Tier 9 5.6m GP 3072 PKP
      • Tier 10 8m GP 4096 PKP
    • Emblems now upgrade when you kill someone on death(this mechanic was previously broken):
      • You do not need to kill a target to upgrade an emblem in your inventory
        • As long as your kill is eligible for PKP(not same IP/Mac, not a recently killed person, etc) you will also receive pkp.
    • Tier 1 emblem drop changes on target kill:
      • Ironman can now receive emblems
      • Players can now receive emblems when killing ironmen targets
      • Chance to get Tier 1 emblem has changed:
        • As long as you are eligible for PKP, the chance to get an emblem on a target kill is 50%.
    • PKP Exchange changes:
      • Crystal shield price fixed
      • Ballista price lowered
      • ***All prices reduced by 30%**
        • We've realized that the PKP prices are quite high, and for PKing to be decently profitable they needed to be reduced.
    • Banned players no longer appear on the KDR scoreboard in-game
      • This is to deter farmers from claiming the top spots on the scoreboard
  • Achievement fixes:
    • The "Mysterious" achievement to obtain 5M bounties has been changed to "Obtain 5k PKP"
    • The "Chin-chomper" achievement (catch 1000 chinchompas) can now be completed
      • Catching chinchompas will no longer increase your "Harvest" achievement completion
    • The "Oblivion" achievement is now fixed
      • Simply attack anything while wearing any Full void outfit
    • The "Tzhaar-ket-novice" acheivement now requires wave 45 instead of wave 30
    • The "Clueless" achievement has been changed from 10 Medium clues to 10 Hard clues
    • The "High stakes" achievement can now be completed by Ironmen
      • As soon as a duel starts, it will auto-complete this task since ironmen cannot stake items or GP
  • Clue scroll changes
    • 1-step clue scroll bug fixed
    • Clue hunter armour:
      • There is now a random chance to obtain Clue hunter armour when completing a Hard/Elite clue scroll!
      • Rates for donators: (+4% to all for Elite clue scrolls)
        • 16% for Legendary
        • 10% for Extreme
        • 8% for Super
        • 6% for Regular
        • 4% for Non-donators
  • Karambwan fishing added:
    • You must use Raw karambwanji as bait -- purchasable from the fishing/ironman shops for 500gp each.
    • You can fish the Karambwan in Karamja on the dock
  • Shop changes:
    • Sanfew serum added to shops
      • This potion will have the effects of both a Super restore and Superantipoison
    • Super energy added to shops
    • Guthix rest is now noted in shop, and has increased in price
    • Pure essence has been removed from Aubury's shop
      • The Trading post is filled with essence if players wish to Runecraft, there is no reason for it being in the shop.
  • Donation changes:
    • Rune pouch added for 65 tokens
      • An untradable item which allows you to store 3 different types of runes within
    • Pet box added for 300 tokens
    • Dragon claws added for 400 tokens
  • Boss killcount announcements: (Thanks @Jare for the suggestions!)
    • Reaching certain killcounts for bosses will yell a global message
    • When reaching the following milestones:
      • 100, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500 and every 500 kills thereafter

6e2650e65e5457d0a5aa760a7adcbacc23c6b499

This week we saw a huge update from Omicron and our new developer GameDevJason.

Miscellaneous:

Fixed mime mask issue where you'd note it and it turns into a pineapple pizza
Exchange prices(for items kept on death/trading post purposes) increase for:
Granite maul from 34k -> 1.34M
(Seems to go for around 2M ingame)
Wyvern bones now give 72 XP(same as Dragon bones) instead of the previous 50 XP.
Crystal key has been re-added to vote shop
Master crafters at the Crafting guild can now tan your hides
Lockpick added to Ironman Supply shop
Graceful armour will now be sent to the reclaimable shop on death

Gambling changes:
Castle wars is now the new gambling area
Type ::gamble to get there
Gambler walks around shouting out tips
Dice bag has been added to the donation store

Voting fixed:
Voting has changed a bit but still has some work left to do. You now have to vote on 3/4 websites to get an auth!
For some users, it worked perfectly on release, while it did not work at all for others. This was due to their IP address being IPV6 instead of IPV4, and this has since been corrected. If anyone else has trouble with voting, please pm me directly so that I could debug the issue.

New spell books added:
Normal, ancient and lunar spellbooks have been updated with the latest OSRS spells
This opens the possibility of using these spells (Eg. Bounty hunter teleport, will be added ASAP) in future updates!

Many Many more updates:
You can find the full list on this thread.

Changes in the Newspaper!
There will be some changes to the newspaper starting on the next edition. From now on instead of the newspaper being a weekly edition it will be Bi-weekly. This means an issue will be posted once every two week. This gives us time to recope as much info as possible and for a better read.

 This week we interviewed Mystogen

Thunder: First of all, congratz on the promotion man. How does it feel on the first day as a server support so far?

Mystogen: To be honest, after the initial excitement of being a staff member wore off, I'm just back to doing me. I enjoy helping out and being a staff just helps motivate me to continue to help people. I'd like to thank everybody who congratulated me on my promotion and encouraged me to continue on my path, I promise not to let you down

Thunder:  That's awesome man, I'm sure you'll do a great job and not let this opportunity go to waste. Anyways, tell me more about you man. Do you have any hobby's or something you'd like to share with the community?

Mystogen:Outside of the game, my biggest passions are track/cross country and debate. I run for my school's track team in long distance events and I enjoy running in my free time. I'm also on my team's varsity debate team so I may be gone once in a while to compete for these activities. Some other games I play are League of Legends and OSRS (Although I'm on a small break from OSRS), if you'd like to play anytime just lemme know.

Thunder: Alright man, sounds good. Thanks for the interview!

Thanks for reading this week's newspaper. Feel free fre suggest any additions for next week's edition on a post below.

#34522 Development Blog #2

Posted by GameDevJason on 22 December 2016 - 11:46 AM

Hello,

The following are a list of changes that have either been applied, or are going to be applied in the next few days. The following are player driven suggestions, I have to applaud the amount of suggestions being made on a weekly basis. Keep it up, if your suggestion didn't make the bunch there is always next week.

  • Gambling Command
    • The ::gamble and ::gambling commands have been implemented to allow players more ease of access when gambling.
  • Agility Cape
    • The cape can be worn in place of the Graceful Cape to gain the Graceful Set effect.
  • Coal Bag
    • Players can now obtain a coal bag which will allow them to store between 27 and 36 coal. Store coal ore in the bag, and while smithing you will use coal from the bag instead of your inventory to create bars.
  • Zul-Andra Teleport Item
    • This item allows any player to quickly teleport the Zul-Andra area for quick return.
  • Purchase Bulk Runes
    • Aubury knows a bit more english, he can now sell 2 groups of runes sets; Vengerance and Barrage runes. Each set contains 1,000 casts which allows for easy and quick restocking. This however comes at a 7% interest. What do you guys think of this?
  • Money Casket Rewards
    • There are now three types of money caskets. The first tier now grants between 50 and 100k, the second tier grants between 75 and 110k and the third tier grants between 100 and 125k. The first tier requires a monster to have between 1 and 50 combat, the second requires 51 and 150, and the third is anything exceeding that. Any player with a current chest before this update has a tier 3 chest, enjoy!
  • Coins for Reclaimables on Death
    • When a player dies in the wilderness with an item on their person that is reclaimable will have 50% of the reclaimable cost dropped in the form of coins for the killer. The purpose of this is to give back some of the money that is leaving the economy so that players that focus on player killing can make more money whilst doing so.

Thanks!

Jason

#34044 How to Enable 2FA without your Phone [Computer]

Posted by SENSEI on 21 December 2016 - 01:01 PM

Hi!

Some of you haven't still enabled 2FA because of the fact that you don't either have a Phone or CBA using your phone to enable 2fa. Now, with the help of Elvemage, there is a way to enable 2FA using a program downloaded onto your Computer. It's easy, quick and efficient!

Let's get started!

Step 1:

Download WinAuth [There might be other programs, but i'm recommending this because this is what i use, and it's awesome!]

Link: https://winauth.com/download/

Click on this to start downloading; http://prntscr.com/dmamid (The arrows marked are basically connected to make it easier for you to guide trough what to download for what version your computer is using)

Step 2: Once downloaded, you will have this; http://prntscr.com/dman1u [Since i already connected mine, ignore that button and whatever which is there and click on the box i marked "Add"]

Step 3: So what i prefer using is Google. Reason is because Alora supports Google and i feel safe with Google, so that's what i used, however if you have other programs you'd rather want to use, make sure Alora supports this by navigating to the 2FA section using the CPanel on the website. http://prntscr.com/dmanf5 [Click on this after clicking on Add if ur wanting to use Google]

Step 4: Now you will have this opened up: http://prntscr.com/dmaofo

Navigate to the 2FA section on the Forums, here: http://prntscr.com/dmaou1

Since i already activated 2FA, i can't correctly show you what to do but click on "Enable 2FA". Once you do that, you will have a large number there that is available that you need to use to enable your 2fa. Copy the Large number provided and add it here: http://prntscr.com/dmapdu

After that click "Verify Authenticator" and then click "Ok".

That's It! Every time you want to log into your account and the game asks you for the pin, click on this : http://prntscr.com/dmapz9 and add the numbers provided into the interface that Alora provided you to put the pin into! :)

If you have any improvements within Grammar or organizations or whatever you think, let me know and ill improve this guide further :=)

If you have any issues, let me know and i'll assist you aswell :)

Merry Christmas!

The Interview process as been changed. Strato has Volunteered to do the interviews for the newspaper from now on. This week he interviews Elvemage & Omicron

Elvemage's Interview

Strato: You've proven yourself worthy of every staff position you've ever held in Alora, what is the #1 advice you can give to non-staff members who have been applying for the team?

Elvemage: The most important advice I can give about being a staff member is that you've got to understand the need of the player.
The conversation between a regular player and a staff member has to be effective.
Let him know you're taking the question seriously even if the question is silly.
This will make the indivual happy after you helped him out and that's all we need as a crew.

Strato: If there was one thing you could improve about yourself, what would it be, and why?

Elvemage: I'm taking my postion very seriously. I also know I could improve myself in many ways. I feel I need to focus more on prioritizing things.
With the ever-increasing player base, I get an extremely large amount of PMs every day, from something extremely silly, to something of utmost importance. I will try my best in
prioritizing the issues so that everything gets handled the right way.

Strato: You clearly dedicate a lot of time in contributing towards Alora, What do you get in return?

Elvemage: I do not think of my role as a moderator, a chore at all. It is the simple joy of helping out the server overall that motivates me.  I do what I love and love what I do.

Omicron's Interview

Strato: As the founder and developer, where do you see Alora in the near future?

Omicron: Alora has always exceeded my expectations, and we've grown and flourished more than I had anticipated in the past month and a half. Taking that into consideration, I could only expect the same for the future. I intend to do my best to provide the most enjoyable experience for the community, as well as future prospective members.

Strato: You've seen some good days, as well as some rough ones. What keeps you going?

Omicron: Some days are definitely better than others! There have been days where it seems that everything that can go wrong has gone wrong, but we've always managed to persevere and come back even stronger. I could not do it without the support of the community though, otherwise I'd feel like I'm in this all alone. I can't express how crucial the staff team's support has been, especially during those bad days where they all work together to keep things in order. When things aren't going great and I get discouraged, I also remind myself of how many people in the community love and enjoy playing Alora, and how I'd be letting them down if I didn't give it my all.

Strato: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?

Omicron: One of my not-so-great qualities is that I'm not always as calm and collected as I could be during stressful situations, and consequently I tend to not think rationally. Tying in with the previous answer, there are times when I could become irritable if I'm stressed out, which isn't good at all.

Special thanks to Strato for helping me this week!

Thanks for reading this week's newspaper. Feel free fre suggest any additions for next week's edition on a post below.  :)

#32154 Forum Suggestions

Posted by Jackie Nimb on 18 December 2016 - 04:04 AM

So I've came to realize a few weeks ago that the forums are a big clusterfuck and just now decided to make a thread about it. Hopefully this suggestions will help the community and help staff members do their job much more efficiently.

- Add in the "The Red Carpet" section and put "introductions" and "Farewells" as sub-sections. (Don't know why there isn't a farewell section yet.)

- Divide up the Support section by adding an "in-game help" and "Forum help" as sub-sections. (Approx. 60% of threads in the General Discussion is used for in-game help questions.) Once sorted, could be used to find potential staff members.

- Instead of posting the "Newspaper" thread weekly in the General Discussion section, why not just make a sub-section/section for it? I feel as if the "General Discussion" is used for anything and everything. Not to mention, players will actually then notice that we have weekly newspapers.

- Add a "Newspaper Editor" rank, this gives incentives for those who helps making the newspaper possible.

- Add a "Player held events" as a sub-section under the "Server Events & Competition" section. Could do better by moving it to the Community forum instead of having it in the "Official" forum.

- Allow members to change their own usertitles after they meet certain criterias. Ex: 300 posts. (Could be removed if abused.)
