How to Download, Install & Start Playing Alora
The complete setup guide for brand-new players (Windows, Mac & Mobile)
Welcome to Alora! If you've just found us and aren't sure where to begin, this guide walks you through everything — creating your account, downloading the client, and logging in for the first time. Let's get you in-game.

Step 1: Create your account
Everything on Alora runs through your forums account — your forum login IS your game login, so pick your details carefully.
- Go to the registration page.
- Choose a username between 3 and 12 characters. This is the name you'll be known by, so choose wisely!
- Enter a valid email address and a password (3–32 characters). Use a unique password — never reuse your RuneScape or email password on a private server.
- Answer the anti-spam question, agree to the Terms of Use, and register. You can optionally enter a referral name if a friend brought you here.

Step 2: Download the client
Head to alora.io/play. You'll see a few download options — pick the one that fits your system:
- Windows Installer — the easiest option for most Windows players. It comes prepackaged with Java, so it works even if you don't have Java installed. It also installs like a normal app, so you can pin it to your taskbar or Start menu.
- M1 Mac Application — if you're on an Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) Mac, grab this one for the smoothest experience.
- .ZIP file — the fallback option if nothing else works. Important: you MUST extract the .ZIP before running it, and unlike the other options it does not auto-update.

Step 3: Install & launch[list] - Windows: Run the installer and follow the prompts. Once installed, launch Alora from your Start menu or taskbar shortcut.
- Mac: Open the downloaded application and drag it into your Applications folder, then launch it from there (or pin it to your Dock).
- When the launcher opens, you'll get to choose between the RuneLite client and the regular Alora client. RuneLite is the recommended pick — it comes loaded with plugins (XP tracker, loot tracker, quest helper, and more) that make life much easier. The regular client is there if you ever want the classic feel.
- The launcher auto-updates, so you'll always be on the latest version after your first download (this doesn't apply to the .ZIP version).

Step 4: Log in & pick your game mode
- On the login screen, enter the same username and password you registered with on the forums.
- The first time you log in you'll choose a game mode: Normal, Ironman, Hardcore Ironman, Ultimate Ironman, Elite Ironman, Group Ironman, Realism, or Classic. Normal is the standard full experience; the Ironman modes are self-sufficient challenges, and Hardcore means one life. Pick whatever sounds fun — there's no wrong answer.
- You'll spawn in Edgeville, Alora's home hub. Talk to the Teleport Wizard in the center of town to get around, and check the starter guides in the Guides section when you're ready to plan your first goals.

Playing on mobile?
Alora also has a mobile client for iOS and Android, so you can take your account on the go. Setup details can change between updates, so check the pinned Mobile Client Issues Troubleshooting thread in the Support section for the current instructions and fixes.

Quick tips before you dive in[list] - Secure your account: Set up 2FA by speaking to the Account Guardian at Edgeville bank. It protects your account AND gives your vote books a 50% bonus XP boost.
- Vote daily: Type ;;vote in-game, vote on the toplists, and claim your auth code for a vote book — free XP boosts and vote points for the vote shop.
- Ask for help: Type ::staff in-game to see which staff members are online, or ask questions in the General Discussion section. The community is friendly — don't be shy.
