Smithing Introduction

6U4QH8H.png

Smithing is the production skill of Mining; it allows you to turn ore into bars and eventually into your own armour and weapons! As you gain a higher Smithing level, you are able to make stronger armour and weapons. You can also make a decent amount of money with higher-level Smithing!

Smithing Basics

PkuJfRv.png

To start Smithing, you will need the metal ore that you can obtain through the Mining skill. Alternative ways to obtain ores is to buy them from other players or via the Trading Post. Keep in mind, however, that this can become very expensive. There are two parts to Smithing: the first part is turning the ores into metal bars, and the second part is turning the bars into armour and weapons.

Smelting Bars

KiCLFRe.png

The first step in making your own weapons or armour is to smelt your own bars! To do this, simply go to a furnace with ores in your inventory; furnaces are located all over Alora.

Notice in the above image that certain bars have black text beneath them while others are red. If they are black, that means that you have the required level to smith that bar; otherwise, if it is red, you will not be able to make it until you get the required level!

You are also able to use your Magic level to superheat the ores by using the 'Superheat Item' spell, which requires level 43 in Magic. To cast this spell, you need four fire runes and one nature rune. Below, you can see what the different bars are that you can smelt and what levels they require.

Armour and Weapon Smithing

7Qvu0RZ.png

The next and final step is to use a hammer and an anvil to smith the bars into your own weapons and armour! Simply use the bar with an anvil and an interface will appear as illustrated below. All you have to do is left-click on the item you wish to create, or right-click on it and specify the quantity of the item to be made! Keep in mind that you will always need a hammer and a sufficient amount of bars in your inventory to smith anything!
