What is your suggestion?:
Donations to the well should be incentivized with booster-like effects rather than sole social reward.
I'm proposing a system by which donations to the well over a set amount (ex. 30m cash or items over 25m in value) give an IMMEDIATE booster-like effect. Cash donations can be redeemed for any booster effect while item donations can not be used for drop booster effect.
(Immediate effect is to counteract people stockpiling them for server wide bonuses creating issues)
These well boosts should be stackable with normal boosters however should be capped both at 66% of their counterparts and at 25% total boost.
Ex. Raid boosters from well only give bonus 9.9% combined with a raid booster for 25% but vote book raid boost will not push it to 30%.
The exception to this rule is the invisible boosts provided by server-wide events which can be stacked but in turn are able to be manipulated by the event manager if drops seem too common during the bonus.
These additional boosts will mathematically remove more items from the game than they will bring in for a net reduction in items and gp to the normie economy. My homie Alora's mathematician/statistician @Real Alan will likely at request do the math if you ask him nicely.
It is important to note that this will have a dramatic effect on low-mid term farmed items such as GWD items, prayer scrolls, justiciar, etc. While also giving value to items that have minimal use in alora such as the SGS, NM staff, guardian boots, etc. As irons and other game modes will be less likely to drop off the items to sell for boosters when they can donate them instead.
To go a step further item donations from Ironman and realists can have a lower threshold same as how cash is doubled currently. This would decrease item flow into normie economy.
This will NOT have much of an effect on top tier items, the ONLY realistic solution for that is to increase the new user player base thus increasing demand for those items.
This idea is a concept and may need to be refined but it is a dramatic improvement on the existing system.
Is this in OSRS?: No
Has this suggestion been accepted already?: No
How would this benefit Alora?:
A step forward in repairing the absolute atrocious normie economy.
ps. We need more advertizing spend to drive new players to the game to continue the circular economy.
