Mobile Tournament Postponed
Hello everyone,
While the mobile client is still set to release to the public at 4pm EST tomorrow, we regret to inform you that the Mobile-Ironman Tournament will be pushed back until next week:
Revised Mobile Tournament Start Date:
Friday November 3rd, 4pm EST
Revised End Date:
Friday December 1st, 4pm EST
We have been working on this project for months — since May to be precise, and while we have made great progress towards our goal that we envisioned for it, we still have some concerns that may adversely affect the tournament, including:
- Client crashes on older/weaker devices
- Lower FPS on older/weaker devices
- A need for better identification of emulators (to ensure the tournament is truly mobile-only)
While players on the latest devices (released within the past 2-3 years) likely will not be plagued with any of the aforementioned issues, we want to ensure that the majority of our players, including those on phones that are >3 years old, can participate in the tournament without crashing. We want to stress that while there is still an FPS advantage on newer devices in this tournament, the least we can do is give it our absolute best shot at making sure everyone can play without crashes and with reasonable FPS.
We hope that you understand our position, and as mentioned earlier we are still going ahead with the mobile release despite these issues since it is still very playable in its current state (and we can’t wait for you to try it for yourself!), but we owe it to our players to make the competition as fair as we possibly can.
