Theatre of Blood scaling: Theatre of Blood team(s) of 1-2 players will now scale down to 67.5% hp rather than 75%. While both solos/duos will now be easier, we've chosen to set them to the same scaling given that the Theatre of Blood is designed to be a group raid (unlike CoX / ToA which are designed to scale), and we still want to encourage players to pair up at least to a duo for the most optimal scaling. Ideally we wouldn't scale at all (similar to OSRS), but we understand that it can be difficult to find a team, so we are opting to make it easier to find a single partner to duo-raid with and not face repercussions.
I more than anyone would love to be able to solo TOB, as my timezone makes it hard to find teams, I'm pretty shit at it, and my ping makes me shit in group content, but the above looks like the best we are getting at the minute.
Sorry, but I'm not really into your suggestion. Not everything has to be solo - in OSRS, there's hardly any content that requires a group, except for BA and PC. Why not be social, make some friends, or join a PvM clan? It's an MMORPG, after all.
@N0 AP0L0GIES That's already an extremely controversial move even in big MMOs because not everyone has schedules that work well with others. And you never do that in a game with as few players as this. I'm in a position where I usually have to be prepared to hop off for a bit randomly, and if I'm solo, that's totally fine. But if I need a group, they don't want to wait 20 mins as I go take care of something.
This is vital content that you have to do in the upper hundreds to thousands of times, and it's just unreasonable to force content like that to be group-based. It's completely fine to just make it EASIER to do with groups. Like if solo has 40% less HP than a trio run, that would still make trios wayyy faster than solo, but at least solo is do-able.
Why gatekeep content from people who just want to play?
While I agree that solo TOB isn't perfectly scaled, TOB is meant to be group content
Solo TOB is difficult but possible with good gear and solid game knowledge, so I don't think any changes are necessary. It takes long as fuck (~35 mins) but it's a challenge that not many people can (or should) be able to do.
I think a better alternative to this would be to bring in the practice mode that OSRS has, that is intended to be solo'd.
That way people can at least learn on their own time, and then join groups, as most groups dont want to take a totally freshie as its hard enough to find teams, and they want to maximise their time spent. Which is totally fair enough.
