What is your suggestion?: Allow GIM players to join more than five teams

Is this in OSRS?:not sure

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:no

How would this benefit Alora?:keeps the longevity of the game for long term players

Hey everyone,

I want to bring up a change that I think would improve the longevity and accessibility of Group Ironman (GIM): removing the hard cap that limits players to joining only five total GIM teams per account.

The Issue:

Right now, once you've joined and left five teams, you're locked out of creating or joining another team — permanently. This might make sense as a way to discourage abuse, but it ends up punishing players who are genuinely committed to the mode but have had teams fall apart due to inactivity, scheduling issues, or other real-life situations.

My Suggestion:

  • Allow players to join more than five GIM teams on the same account.

  • To keep things fair and prevent abuse, introduce a longer cooldown after the fifth team:

    • For example, a 30- or 60-day cooldown before being able to join a sixth team.

    • Optionally, increase the cooldown with each additional team (e.g., +30 days per new team after the limit of 5 could be increased to 40 days).

Why This Would Help:

  • It keeps long-time GIM players engaged instead of locking them out of the mode.

  • It respects the fact that real-life commitments and team dynamics are unpredictable.

  • Abuse is still mitigated by cooldowns — you can’t hop teams quickly, but you also don’t get permanently punished for circumstances outside your control.

Group Ironman is a fantastic mode that encourages social play and teamwork, but the current system is a bit too rigid. A cooldown-based system would preserve the integrity of the game mode while giving dedicated players more flexibility and a reason to stick with it long-term.

Heck yea! I had to make a new GIM because of the 5 group limit. Previous teams stopped playing. Def need to raise limit of joins…

Support. My GIM group members gave up Alora due to family and work commitments, which is understandable

Strongly support. Life happens and people stop playing. Sometimes groups don't work out and people leave or are removed. For long term players group change is unfortunately often necessary. A long cooldown period would effectively preclude abuse resulting from lifting the cap.

Support! Your post is written very well, introduces the issue and ways to address it and the solutions make sense. I don't see why this shouldn't be added

Support this, don't see a reason why there should be a cap.

+1 to the cooldown idea once 5 is reached is a fair trade off

support, the whole point of these stops were to slow down the buying/selling of gim items, but all cooldowns (joinlimits, trade limits, kick/join limits) can be bypassed with irl donations. seems more of a money grab than anything, removing the group joins in general just seems like a good idea and wont negativfely effect donations to bypass any other time limits on group ironmen

This is amazing suggestion , I feel like it would allow players to join players who are genuinely want to play the game together and increase positivity and longivity. Full Support on this .

Support with the caveat that there is a cooldown. They should be able to store up to 3 group changes and will replenish 1 every 90 days.

i don't see why not, like you said it encourages long term players to keep playing, but i'd put each change on a 2 year cooldown.
