What is your suggestion?: Allow GIM players to join more than five teams
Is this in OSRS?:not sure
Has this suggestion been accepted already?:no
How would this benefit Alora?:keeps the longevity of the game for long term players
Hey everyone,
I want to bring up a change that I think would improve the longevity and accessibility of Group Ironman (GIM): removing the hard cap that limits players to joining only five total GIM teams per account.
The Issue:
Right now, once you've joined and left five teams, you're locked out of creating or joining another team — permanently. This might make sense as a way to discourage abuse, but it ends up punishing players who are genuinely committed to the mode but have had teams fall apart due to inactivity, scheduling issues, or other real-life situations.
My Suggestion:
-
Allow players to join more than five GIM teams on the same account.
-
To keep things fair and prevent abuse, introduce a longer cooldown after the fifth team:
-
For example, a 30- or 60-day cooldown before being able to join a sixth team.
-
Optionally, increase the cooldown with each additional team (e.g., +30 days per new team after the limit of 5 could be increased to 40 days).
-
Why This Would Help:
-
It keeps long-time GIM players engaged instead of locking them out of the mode.
-
It respects the fact that real-life commitments and team dynamics are unpredictable.
-
Abuse is still mitigated by cooldowns — you can’t hop teams quickly, but you also don’t get permanently punished for circumstances outside your control.
Group Ironman is a fantastic mode that encourages social play and teamwork, but the current system is a bit too rigid. A cooldown-based system would preserve the integrity of the game mode while giving dedicated players more flexibility and a reason to stick with it long-term.
