I think it should give the tear back and lose the SS, simply to help with the price of Sara Swords in general. They are super cheap and I welcome item sinks to get rid of items that are dense in the economy.
Orangepike,
I respectfully disagree. I understand that logic as it's the same logic OSRS implements, but we shouldn't carve out the sara sword to be the lone exception in Alora that degrades/disappears when none of the others degrade or disappear.
Even with the sara sword's low price though, I'd reasonably expect most people probably use a dragon longsword or dragon scimitar to get to 99 stats due to an early lack of price/game knowledge. Most people go straight for a whip because people just don't know how strong the SS and blessed SS really are. Many others go for a Zombie Axe. I recently tested DPS at both sand crabs and vyres with the ::maxhit command which shows DPS. There the regular ss outperforms a dragon scimmy + dragon defender, dragon mace + d defender, and Zombie axe + d defender. Z axe will outperform on bosses with higher defence though due to it's higher accuracy. I haven't tested DPS of any against the Blessed Sara Sword because the regular SS was already my best in slot strength trainer / crush weapon based on that testing.

For Documentation purposes I'll share more of what I learned. To the best of my current knowledge the only two places where a Saradomin Tear can be obtained is the LMS store and the PKP store. This is not to be confused with the Saradomin's Light which is to the best of my knowledge, completely useless. As a test only, on my main, I bought archaic emblems from the TP and sold them to the PKP store just to test the Blessed SS revert feature.
I may be the first and only person to document this in the game.
Both the SS and the Tear came back to my inventory! While the blessed SS was not tradable to GIM teammates, the Tear and the SS are!
That is great news and makes this suggestion both low-priority and a source of documentation.
I don't know why Google indexes these suggestions better than other sources of information in the forums like the update/patch notes but that's a trend I've noticed.
