Hello everyone,
Today’s update is primarily focused the large expansion to Varlamore, which includes a new mini-game (Auburnvale Totem Fletching), new dungeons & caverns (with new slayer monsters & rewards), and the new Gemstone crab boss ("AFK" training method). In addition to this, we've also made improvements to server performance for EU players, and have added many quality of life changes and bug fixes. There's plenty to explore in this new update, so we'll let you dive right in below!
In other news, we are also nearly done with the Doom of Mokhaiotl (Delve boss), but since this boss is fairly complex, we wanted to spend some more time with it to make sure that everything feels accurate and is working as intended. It will be available in the near future (within the next couple of weeks), so stay tuned for that!
- Ping Improvement:
- Sometimes (particularly for EU players) when logging in you would accidentally be routed through an NA server leading to higher than usual ping. This should no longer happen, and you will always be routed to the lowest ping server possible based on your location.
- Varlamore Expansion:
- Auburnvale Totem Fletching Minigame:
- Players with at least 20 fletching can now participate in the Auburnvale fletching activity.
- This mini game requires that players run from totem site to totem site, building up and decorating the totems for the wandering Ents.
- There are 8 totem sites in total.
- Players can build/decorate totems made out of oak/willow/maple/yew/magic/redwood logs.
- Oak totems require level 20 fletching to build.
- Willow totems require level 35 fletching to build.
- Maple totems require level 50 fletching to build.
- Yew totems require level 65 fletching to build.
- Magic totems require level 80 fletching to build.
- Redwood totems require level 90 fletching to build.
- Building higher tier totems/decorating them with higher tier decorations will provide more experience, and make the totems more durable.
- Totems have a durability of 1-7 (depending on a bit of RNG and which type of log is used), and will lose 1 durability each time an ent passes through and admires the totem.
- Each time an ent admires a totem, players will earn more offerings.
- When it loses all durability, it will break and need to be rebuilt.
- When building a totem, players will be asked to carve 3 specific animals into the totem.
- There are 5 total animals to choose from, but players should carve the 3 spirit animals that are around the totem site into the totem to maximize their rewards.
- Totems have a durability of 1-7 (depending on a bit of RNG and which type of log is used), and will lose 1 durability each time an ent passes through and admires the totem.
- The ents will also leave ent trails behind as they pass from site to site, and stepping on the 2 trails they leave behind will give players increased experience/rewards for a short period of time.
- Gameplay loop:
- The idea of this minigame will be to quickly move from site to site, making sure you build a totem and decorate it at every site you visit.
- Along the way, it’s a good idea to fletch logs into decorations to put on the totems.
- Most items that you obtain from fletching a log can be used to decorate the totems (unstrung short/longbows, shields, etc…)
- There is also a new item players can fletch from redwood logs, called the redwood hiking staff.
- This is a cosmetic item requires 90 fletching, and provides 11 base fletching experience.

- It can also be used as a regular knife for fletching when in the player’s inventory, but it also has a 50% chance to increase the fletching speed by 1 tick.
- This normally should be a 100% chance, however on Alora, most fletching actions are a 2-tick action rather than a 3-tick action, so the speed up is only a 50% chance rather than being guaranteed with each fletch.
- It can also be used as a regular knife for fletching when in the player’s inventory, but it also has a 50% chance to increase the fletching speed by 1 tick.
