Hey Alora team and fellow players,
I’ve been grinding on Alora for a while now and absolutely love what the server has become — one of the cleanest, most polished OSRS-style experiences out there. But there’s one major piece of the “true OSRS” puzzle that’s currently missing: tick-manipulation skilling methods.
For those who might not be familiar (or who’ve only played servers where it’s disabled), here’s the quick rundown straight from OSRS:
- The game runs on ticks (0.6 seconds each).
- Most skilling actions have a built-in “skilling timer” that dictates how often you get a roll/XP.
- By precisely timing a short delaying action (usually a 3-tick one like starting herb tar, dropping an item, eating food, or clicking a knife on a log), you can reset that timer early and force the main skilling action to complete faster than normal.
This is 100% legal and accepted in OSRS — Jagex has even added official support for it (e.g. Jim’s wet cloth for 3-tick mining in the Chasm of Fire). It’s not a bug; it’s high-skill gameplay.
THE REASON WE CAN NOT TICK MANIPULATE RIGHT NOW, FOR AN EXAMPLE (TAR+HERB) TRIGGERS A SKILLING INTERFACE (MAKE-X). EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE ITEMS FOR ONLY 1 ACTION.
THE REASON WE CAN NOT USE TEAK/MAHO->KNIFE IS CAUSE TEAK LOG DOESNT DO ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING AND MAHOGANY->KNIFE ACTION IS A SINGLE TICK ACTION, BUT SHOULD BE
Popular methods that would become available:
- 3-tick Fishing (Barbarian/Fly fishing) → normally 5-tick, becomes ~67% faster XP
- 2-tick & 1.5-tick Woodcutting (Teaks on Ape Atoll or Fossil Island)
- 3-tick Mining (Granite, Sandstone, Iron, etc.) → bypasses pickaxe speed, insane powermining rates
- 1-tick Karambwan cooking → over 1M Cooking XP per hour with perfect play (ALREADY EXISTS AND WORKS)
- 3-tick/1-tick Hunter (Chins, Box traps, etc.)
- And many more (Herblore mixes, Fletching, etc.)
Why Alora should enable it:
- Authenticity — Alora markets itself as the best OSRS experience. Tick manip is a core part of high-level skilling in 2026 OSRS. Without it we’re playing a watered-down version.
- Skill expression & engagement — Turns skilling from pure AFK into an actual skill. It rewards practice, timing, mouse accuracy, and game knowledge. Many players (myself included) would suddenly find skilling fun again.
- Player retention & attraction — Efficiency players, ironmen, and leaderboard chasers would flood in. We’d see actual competition for fastest 99s, 200m XP leaderboards, and skilling records.
- Not pay-to-win or broken — It’s 100% free-to-play friendly, requires zero gear advantage, and is extremely click-intensive. Casual players can still use the same AFK methods they use now.
If the concern is balance or server stability, we can always add a toggle in the settings panel like many other features, or disable it in certain minigames/raids if needed.Alora already has the best economy, content, and community — adding tick manip would make it the undisputed king of OSRS private servers.
What do you guys think? Staff, any thoughts on this?
Thanks for reading, and keep up the insane work!
The whole post is generated by an AI, not because I am lazy but for me whose native language isn't English, it would be pretty damn hard to write a suggestion like this. -
