#455836 A discussion on Rule 1 b)

Posted by Tamby on 20 March 2023 - 09:07 PM

I don't see anything wrong with rule 1b. I'm not going to overanalyze the ;;rules but I'd imagine that rule 1b and other rules are intentionally written with loose language so that staff can use their discretion to deal with unique situations which aren't specifically outlined. Conversely, take a staff member who's having a bad day or has been in their position for years, they might not care in the moment and take advantage of loosely written rules to enforce them unjustly. So I see your point and I agree that it's wrong. I just don't think that rule 1b needs to be changed.

However, it sounds like more of an issue of - the staff moderate the players, but who is moderating the staff?

If so, isn't that why we have the options to appeal an offense and to report a staff member on the forums? I don't know what the latter looks like behind the scenes, but aren't those the checks and balances to make sure staff aren't overstepping their authority?

One thing I don't understand though is why some rules have specific punishments outlined but several rules don't. It opens the door for punishments that might not fit the offense.

Overall I agree with much of your post - I just wanted to share my two cents from a perspective that attempts to consider all sides.

#453363 QoL Changes to Daily Tasks

Posted by Tamby on 12 February 2023 - 11:36 PM

What are your suggestions?:

  1. Have it so Konar tasks count towards the "Complete 3 Hard Slayer Tasks" daily task
  2. Limit the number of daily tasks that require you to be in the wilderness to a maximum of 1
  3. Reduce the daily task to "Earn 250 Slayer Points" to 100(?)

Are these in OSRS?: ???

Have these suggestions been accepted already?: ???

How would these benefit Alora?:

  1. Konar tasks currently don't count towards the "Complete 3 Hard Slayer Tasks" daily task. Either the coding was overlooked or it's a bug, but it doesn't make sense why they don't count. I went through 3 or 4 konar tasks just to realize they weren't being counted, so it was a bit annoying having to do it all over again with a different slayer master. I could have been checking earlier if they were being counted, but that's besides the point
  2. Often there are days where 2 of the 3 daily tasks require you to be in wildy. IIRC there might have actually been a day where all 3 tasks were in wildy ... Limiting the potential wildy daily tasks to a max of 1 would be a lot more fair to HCIM who are grinding daily task shop items
  3. Obtaining 250 slayer points can be a bit of a grind and is only easily/quickly accomplished if you're at or very close to a milestone, doing wildy tasks, or skipping and only doing boss tasks (canceling your streak in the process). Doing this task with normal slayer methods takes, IMO, an unreasonable amount of time to complete. Reducing the daily task to 100 slayer points or something more reasonable would be much appreciated!

#448790 Ring of Life (i)

Posted by Tamby on 23 December 2022 - 11:49 AM

What is your suggestion?: An enhanced version of the Ring of Life - a Ring of Life (i) - which instead of teleporting you if you take damage while below 10% health, would teleport you if taken damaged while below 20% health.

Is this in OSRS?: I don't believe so

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: No

How would this benefit Alora?: I think that there are 2 very strong arguments for why this should be implemented

  1. Bosses and monsters that were added to OSRS within the past 5 or so years hit much higher and have more complex mechanics than the traditional bosses/monsters that existed in the early days of Runescape. This has made the RoL a less and less effective item, given the fact that there is now a higher likelihood of being damaged more than 9 or 10 HP, even through protection prayers. In short, the game has evolved quite drastically while the RoL has not received any attention to account for these changes.
  2. I won't pretend to be a RSPS or backend coding expert, but it probably goes without saying that RS private servers do not have the resources or capabilities to have 99.99% lag-free or DC-free servers that [basically] exist on OSRS. For that reason, it seems like a majority of HCIM lose their status to little to no fault of their own due to those two issues. I think an update like this could help to mitigate unreasonable deaths. Unless I'm wrong on this, but from what I've heard there's no protocol in these DC/Lag death situations to get your hardcore status back and you're kind of just SoL If true, that is fucking brutal...
  3. As an added bonus, it would also flush out another imbuement scroll from the economy and give HCIM more incentive to donate money to the server to get another imbuement scroll from ;;store
