Hello everyone,

Hardcore Group Ironman will soon be coming to Alora! We've been planning this new game mode for a little while now, and are happy to be able to finally share it with you all. HCGIM is a twist on the Group Ironman mode, adding an increased level of difficulty by only allowing a certain number of lives per team before you lose your Hardcore status. You'll have to work together with your team to stay alive, because once all of the lives are lost, the entire team is downgraded to regular Group Ironman, and taken off of the HCGIM highscores. The stakes are high, but so are the rewards, as only the most skilled players will stay alive long enough to make it to the top of the highscores while keeping their prestigious Hardcore status.

Launch date: June 19th, 2pm EST

The mechanics of this game mode are very similar to Group Ironman, such as the experience rate, shared storage, and so on, but with a separate highscores page, separate equipment, and of course the death mechanics.

Mode features:

  • Experience rate:
    • 6x base rate
      • This rate is identical to the GIM rate, which faster than Elite Ironman mode (4x) and Classic mode (5x), but not as fast as Hardcore Ironman mode (8x). This will tie in nicely with the regular GIM rate should players die and lose their status, as their experience achievements will hold the same value.
  • Death mechanics:
    • As of now, the death mechanics will closely follow HCIM mechanics, so any safe death for HCIM will also apply to HCGIM.
  • Experience bonuses:
    • The same limitations of GIM mode applies to HCGIM. Typical XP bonuses such as the Well of Goodwill will give 50% of the usual bonus (15% rather than 30%).
  • Group feature:
    • Similarly to GIM, you can form a group with up to 4 other players. The difference with HCGIM is that your group will share lives, and once the team has died 5x (or 3x if you are 3 players, for example), the hardcore status is dropped, and every player and the team itself will be downgraded to regular GIM.
  • Bonds/donations:
    • Bonds are the only item you can transfer from your main to your HCGIM.
    • The same donation rules that apply to other ironmen/classics apply to HCGIM (mostly cosmetic purchases only).
  • Clan chat:
    • “Group” clan chat will be auto-joined for GIM players (if not already full).
  • Gold:
    • Similar to GIM, HCGIM receive half the usual gold.

Details are subject to change, but this should be a relatively accurate guideline for how the game mode will go.

As with any new game mode, what fun would it be without some friendly competition and some juicy prizes? Below are the details for the planned tasks, some being shared amongst the group and others being individual tasks. These are subject to slight changes as well, but should remain mostly accurate.

Rules:

  • If any HCGIM is found to have had help in any of these tasks from an outside player, they will be disqualified from receiving any prize in the tournament.
    • This also applies to raid groups, so if players are raiding with other players that are not part of their team, they will not be eligible for a prize.
  • Boss tasks, such as Corporeal beast, must be completed without any outside help from players who are not part of your team.
