So, I recently maxed my ironman with about 100 hours played (definitely not entirely efficient playtime), and I decided that although I'll continue playing normal ironman mode as my main, I'd like a more enjoyable, difficult challenge while maintaining an easy xp rate. Hence, I started my UIM, ScikitLearn.
Progress Update 1
Spoiler
Just over 6 hours played, notable achievements being completion of Monkey Madness (dscim), Mountain Daughter (climbing boots, prossy armour), and Recipe for Disaster (barrows
gloves - was a pain in the ass with my combat stats).
My current goals include:
Lightening up my looting bag by getting rid of the unnecessary low level ranged gear. Going to get 69 fletching for the yew crossbow stock and hunt some rune limbs from Iron Dragons. This will allow me to get a decent ranged level, and have a viable ranged weapon.
Obtaining fighter torso, avas, elite void - a whole day of grinding PC.
Obtaining fire cape - should be relatively easy once I get my ranged to 70+, and have avas + elite void.
Begin slayer! After achieving the above goals, my stats should be very nicely rounded, and I'll have a great beginner slayer gear setup to help me hunt some ckeys for a glory and build some cash for construction. As you can tell, I have a damn rock golem taking up an inventory spot, which I got at 60 mining doing pure ess... Who would have thought getting a pet would be an inconvenience?...
So far, I'm absolutely LOVING the ultimate ironman mode. It's a great challenge, and once you get used to the looting bag and suicide mechanics, things start to flow nicely. I'm sure I'll be eating my words relatively soon, though...
I will keep this thread updated as I progress. Thanks for checking it out, everyone! Edit: Yes, I am hoping to max this account.
Progress Update 2:
Spoiler
So, I ended up only grinding out ~110 PC points and getting the torso and Ava's accumulator. I just didn't have it in me to grind out all of Elite Void tonight, and I was quite anxious to start Slayer.
I decided to instead finish up my goal of 69 fletching required for the rune crossbow (which btw I did by making broad bolts - very good xp for cheap at the mid range levels!), and get my crafting level up to 63 in order to make some green dragonhide. I figured this would be good enough considering Fight Caves are pretty easy. Kudos to another ironman who, in passing, reminded me that I could kill brutal green dragons instead of heading all the way out into the wildy.
Ended up getting the Fire cape first try with this interesting setup...
Also, I quickly took the time to pick up a rune defender. Now, I hope I can end up getting my black mask with a lesser kill count than on my normal ironman (2615)...
Progress Update 3:
Spoiler
Good progress so far this weekend. Gonna take a break and learn raids on the main... Still loving UIM!
Current progress (Update 4):
85 slayer! However, as if not using a bank wasn't challenging enough - I have made myself another challenge! I may only obtain a whip via the Font of Consumption (AKA via Abyssal Sire). I'd like to see the time difference between the two methods, especially given my shitty range gear.
In order to efficiently kill Sire I'm going to need to get my mage to 92 for blood barrage (we'll see how many levels I get from alching the gold amulets I crafted - the rest of the xp will come from barrows, which I need to do anyway for dhally) and my range to around 95 to hit consistently with broad bolts. My kill times are going to be significantly slower (~2 mins on main w/ blowpipe, I'm expecting 3.5-4 minutes w/ rune cbow), so we'll see how this goes...
I got some nice skilling done this progress update as well! Getting the hang of doing herblore without a bank - very click intensive, but fun!
