G'day Ladies, Gents and variations of,

 

Now before I present my idea I understand I may get some negative support and some may be quick to judge but hold your horses - grab a six-pack of stubbies, pull out the deck chair and listen in.

 

"Oh god, another game mode" 

Well that's where you're wrong. Essentially what I'm trying to propose is an add-on to an existing game mode, utilising existing features, in hopes to revive some players interest.

 

The Suggestion

As we all know for majority of the players on Alora the EXP rates on the Ironman mode are rather 'easy' and not as challenging. 
"Why not make a HC, GIM or EIM?" - Good question little Timmy, I'll explain why. These modes are fantastic and I have no complaints though I currently, and possibly others, do not have the required time to build a well structured account where we can enjoy the finer things in like such as raiding or high-level pvming to fund our sand castle addictions while at the same time gaining some accomplishment value from maxing skills.

 

More so to try fill that gap between then 40x - 8x region of exp rates without creating a new game mode itself.

 

Essentially what I'm suggesting is giving the player the option when he has selected the Ironman mode to set a different exp rate than the default. Examples would be 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x and 30x - Note that for anything above 15x, once the player has reached 99 in a certain level the post 99 exp will drop to 15x as the IM mode does.
The reason behind those specific rates is so it will not interfere with the current IM modes in place.

 

Game Implications

Now I know us ironman(in before 'your account is a normie' jokes) enjoy a good contest of measuring our 'Ironman BTW' so what I propose is a small addition to be added for the Highscores and Global chat.

 

Highscores
They will all still fall under the 'Ironman' rankings though with a small adjustment. As the EIM have their partner shown next to their names I propose something similar were the exp rate chosen for that ironman will be show next their name. This hopefully is an easy implementation as it already exists for the EIM rankings and will further increase the ego of the BTW men when they can claim a high rank over the default rates IM.

Example:

1             SeshGremlin(15x)             126             2,277             4,050,123,456

 

Global Chat
This one I'm not to sure about - though basically where the chat would state their chosen game mode/donator rank, It will just display the exp chosen.
Example:

[15x:lowkey1: SeshGremlin: I died in the wildy and now I'm complaining.

 

PROS

  • This will allow us casual players to make gains accordingly while also having fun in the game without any intense grind for the casuals
  • Simple implementation (I think it is, no idea on coding)
  • Being more casual-player friendly, it can increase the amount of personal
  • New accounts = donations = more cash money for Alora
  • No new game modes need to be added.

CONS

  • May take Omi away from coding other better updates
  • Possible bugs on the Highscores
  • I'm honestly not sure on what else...

 

Overall, what I'm trying to accomplish is to create a friendly environment for all player ranging from the hardcore sweaty boys to the casual players who have limited time to play.

I agree on not having more game modes as we have enough, so hopefully this solution can aid in giving Alora the positive outcome of increased player base but at the same time without making any large changes or implementing new content - instead just slightly modifying current content.

 

I totally understand if you don't agree with this and that's fine. Just wanted to put the though out there. I'm happy to take suggestions on how to improve this and I'll add it in the spoiler below.

Dont make an ironman if you dont have the required time to build a account, and if you think its still to fast make a Realism.

Dont make an ironman if you dont have the required time to build a account, and if you think its still to fast make a Realism.

 

NO SUPPORT

That's fair, always each to their own.

I just believe theres no real medium between 40x exp to the next one being 8x and this could possibly fill the void, especially for those who just want to play for fun. Especially since majority of player do enjoy the challenges that an Ironman account provides over a normal account.

Hey brother,

 

Great template used for your suggestion, I really enjoyed reading.

 

However, out of personal experience, this will mostly likely become a never ending story of unstatisfaction in the long run.

  • With the implementation of choice between: 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x and 30x EXP modes, more and more suggestions will keep flying in. This would just be the start..
  • I feel like this would seperate the community in even more "departments" than we currently have.
  • Also, with the choice between 8 existing game modes, I really don't see the "big or small" difference you will experience with these EXP rates, would it really be worth it in the long run compared to the game modes we already have?

Apologies, no support from me. I feel like we have a full bowl of candy in regards of game modes and this will just prevent the lid from closing properly.

i think it would be un-necessary for new game modes to come onto alora that don't actuall have a realistic definition thats worth playing. realism is one of the best game modes i have played & it's alot better than normal and ironman it's self because of the low exp rates. but i agree with HCIM Reddit. do not make a certain account game mode with a low exp rate if you don't have the time, nevertheless on the weekends. a bunch of free time, you could put into the account. regardless i do not think it's important to have a in-between of 8x - 40x xp rate. You did good explaining this suggestion though. Props

I don't think its necessary.  Especially since 99 will still take very little time regardless of 40x or 15x.  The highscores are pointless as well since most of the xp will be gained post 99 at the 15x xp rate.

Never thought of it that way in terms of the separation.

I feel the game modes we have and their experience rates are fine as is. Something similar was suggested regarding choosing your experience multiplier, which I feel would make things more complicated in terms of the highscores. Best to keep the consistency with the experience rates. There's plenty of options in terms of what experience rates to choose from with the game modes we have. No support.
