At the moment, ironmen trying to get staves to use magic early on need to wait for rare drops from certain monsters.
It would make much more sense to be able to craft unpowered orbs and charge them like in osrs to then make an elemental battlestaff.
Not sure there is any way to get molten glass at the moment, but unpowered orbs drop frequently enough
