#330829 Chambers of Xeric Drop Rates from 10,000+ kc

Posted by Mack on 08 January 2020 - 08:06 PM

@2 Ridiculous Actually quite the opposite if you took the time to actually read what was said. It's nice to see numbers actually documented rather than another baseless claim.

The reference is to the infamous suggestion shown here below. I still find the logic behind it funny to this day.

Cheers.

Well.. without any public announcements on drop rates, I'm not sure what else you would expect from people? Also, I sincerely hope you are not referencing the recent TOB discussion because it isn't too hard if you know 'basic math'  as well as, 'actually do tob in this current time' to understand that drop rates are VERY inconsistent. I hope you enjoy being literally the only sore thumb on this topic up to this point, because everyone else seems genuinely interested.

Wow, finally some basic math being used as opposed to made up numbers or personal opinions on rates. Big fan of how you say "are supposed to" as if having extra rolls on the table has nothing to do with increasing your chances of a unique. Congrats.

#329666 Chose your slayer task

Posted by Moe on 01 January 2020 - 06:10 PM

Has been denied many times in the past, due to us being a one world server. However if it somehow passes, I believe the only way to make it 'balanced' would be Legendary/Uber+ (the more people with it, the harder it will be to do tasks for others).

#329347 Development Blog #8: Achievement Diaries, Last Man Standing overhaul, Chamber...

Posted by Omicron on 30 December 2019 - 11:30 PM

Hello everyone,

As we wrap up 2019, we'd like to give you some more insight on what we've got planned for the next little while. These planned updates are tentative and won't follow any sort of schedule, and if OSRS releases some content in between we will likely shift our focus to that before turning our attention back to these updates. Nonetheless, here are a few of the updates we are currently working on and/or have planned:

  • Achievement diaries:
    • We've completely scrapped the current Achievement system and store and have opted to a brand new Achievement diary based on the suggestions submitted by @Mack. This is the first priority in this development blog as we've already made extensive progress on it. You can see the details here:
  • Last Man Standing overhaul:
    • As many of you know, Last Man Standing has been non-functional for awhile. We are working to make the necessary changes to match OSRS's updated version of LMS, which essentially gives you gear to start with upon entering. It also includes a brand new reward shop with some great items that will hopefully make the mini-game more popular (see below).
  • Chambers of Xeric rework:
    • As the first server to have released CoX way back in 2017, we admittedly have cut some corners in the functionality of the raid for the sake of releasing it in the RSPS world as quickly as possible. Since then, aside from bug fixes, we have not made many advancements to match CoX to OSRS's version. We will be focusing our attention on making the raid more dynamic as it is on OSRS, with the map layout being randomly generated each raid to make it more interesting.
    • This will take considerable time as it is essentially redoing the raid from the ground up, but we believe that it is a piece of end-game content which many will appreciate the extra effort being put into.

One of our goals for 2020 is to provide you with previews of future updates more often to allow you to get a general sense of what's to come, so we hope you'll enjoy that :)

Regards,

Omicron & Chad

#327775 TOB Drop rate Discussion

Posted by 96 on 21 December 2019 - 06:58 PM

You are aware no matter how many times the rate gets "buffed", you will still be able to go on 100-200+ dry streaks, correct? Buffing the RATE does not change how RNG works. It's been buffed enough, and to be honest at this point it is just people complaining because they didn't get a specific item they wanted yet. Why risk the chance of ruining the items you want so bad, because you got unlucky?

So half of the server is just having "bad rng" 2-5x? I just happen to get bad rng over 5 times? Having 5 100+ (and a 250+) dry streak on an RSPS is just lame. Not to mention on that 250 streak and my recent 100+ streaks post buff there were many done on bonus, duos/trios, a lot of 4s, high point raids etc. Still no drop until after 100 raids. The point of this is to decrease the 100+ dry streaks that pretty much everyone with decent kc has had multiple times.

The issue isn't about people not getting items they want. It's about putting in 30-50+ hours without even getting a drop or a chance to roll for an item. The topic is to buff the overall chance of getting a unique drop. Certain items such as hilts and justiciar are brought up to show what a waste of time the content is when you spend 50 hours to get an item like that. The non uniques are useless and tbh half of the uniques are useless. And I don't quite get how it's "been buffed enough" when the only people who have a significant kc after the buff clearly say it's still awful. People take the time to put 100s of hours into the content and provide feedback, it would be good to listen to what they have to say rather than people who don't even partake in the content (This isn't aimed at anyone just a general statement)

#327708 TOB Drop rate Discussion

Posted by Hardcore on 21 December 2019 - 01:25 PM

idk what else to say if u dont understand simple concepts. its 1/35 drop rate, fera is 240dry with OVER DOUBLE THE ROLLS as a reg donor. Its literally a 99.9991% chance to go 240dry on a 1/35 chance. I'd rather speak statistics than random generalized opinions.  The formula is here - (34/35)^240

Also, if you didn't know already, the point of this topic is OVERALL drop rates.

You do know there is a difference between 'RNG' for getting a purple in general, as well as 'RNG' for a specific item?

Idk why you're arguing receiving  'specific items'  because no1 else is.

Some counter arguments to this could be, along the lines of extra rolls somehow not coded correctly or maybe even immortal donor not being coded as it says it is. On my master donor acc im averaging around 1/18 which statistically is right on pace for omicron's statement that reg donors are 1/35 and i get x2 the rolls exactly.

#326730 Deathly Rangers and Magers Room/Skeletal Magers Changes.

Posted by SuperiorIQ on 17 December 2019 - 02:00 AM

What is your suggestion?:

Have the Deathly Rangers and Magers not attack you upon entering the room, but attack once you actually hit them. As well as making it so Salve Amulet works on the Skeletal Magers.

Is this in OSRS?:

Yes.

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:

Not sure.

How would this benefit Alora?:

Would be nice in team raids and solos so that one person with a Tbow does not have to run in first and tank all of them. The whole team can run in together and kill them. (Similiar to OSRS.)  On OSRS, Salve (ei) is best in slot to kill the Skeletal mages. This would create more uses for it, as there are few places it is useful on Alora.
