#240248 Alch / remove pets

Posted by Bhaal on 01 December 2018 - 09:34 PM

Support, firstly because getting duplicate pets as an UIM is super annoying (for the reasons you've stated), especially if you're camping for 200m xp. Secondly there's no good reason not to implement it (aside from the fact that it isn't on OSRS, but that's not a good justification by itself).

#231970 A way for HCIM to transfer items

Posted by Bhaal on 06 November 2018 - 04:32 PM

Support this, although as Aritus says it might just be easiest to give this function to all account types (dropped items from all acount types show on the ground for normal accounts).

#231698 Snape Grass Drop?

Posted by Bhaal on 05 November 2018 - 03:04 PM

Good suggestion and I agree with Sassafras idea - boosting the drop rate from waterfiends would be a nice, quick way to help make snape grass more accessible.

Support, but only if it's togged on and off (as you suggested), as personally I wouldn't want this feature on my screen but I can imagine that other players might like it

#228206 Earth runes as loot from Barrows

Posted by Bhaal on 25 October 2018 - 10:48 PM

Hey guys,

It would be cool if we could get earth runes from the barrows loot chests. Currently we can get water runes, which is super helpful, but earth runes would be fantastic for Ironmen to use with the veangence spell, as it's pretty heavy on the earth runes (10 per cast).

Additionally the kodai wand and tomb of fire can supply infinite runes and are awesome as late game weapons, but there isn't really an earth rune equivalent, aside from the earth staff (which isn't great as a weapon). This is totally fine, but could be nicely balanced by adding earth runes as a possible barrows drop.

Cheers, Georgie :),

#227730 Ultimate Ironman guide / tips, 2018

Posted by Bhaal on 23 October 2018 - 10:26 PM

Hey guys,

I'm going to list information / tips here that are unique to Ultimate Ironmen (UIM) only - so this guide assumes that you already know how to complete these things on a regular / elite Ironman account, but might not be sure how to do it on an Ultimate Ironman account with the banking restriction.

UIM xp rates are the same as regular Ironman (40x for non-cb skills).

These are my opinions and other UIM's may have better or more efficient ways of doing things, so keep an open mind :). I'll update the thread as I think of things. Alternatively jump into the ICE clan chat to ask any other questions, as there are usually a few UIM's hanging out there.

Index:

1. Looting Bag

2. Noting / Unnoting Items

3. Saving Inventory Space

4. Transferring Items to a Main Account

5. Using Store Tokens

6. Pets

7. Wilderness Activities

8. Skilling

9. Raids 1 (Chamber of Xeric)

10. The Inferno

1. Looting Bag

          a. Function: This is an item that you carry in your inventory and can hold up to 28 items. Effectively it functions as a second inventory, although it can only hold tradable items (untradable items cannot be stored in it). However, when you put items into the bag it will be hassle to get them back out, so only put in items that you won't need in the immediate future (such as supplies).

                             4c90349c09c6026a13dc7f290507c7c2.png                   d53dd19723c0286fa633f25416109dc2.png

          b. Getting a looting bag: To obtain a looting bag, kill any creature in the wilderness. 'Thugs' in level 1 wilderness in the Edgeville dungeon are ideal. The drop rate is roughly 1/30.

          c. Depositing items: You can only deposit items into the looting bag in the wilderness. I use the teleport: PVP > Varrock (multi-combat) and then run north and jump the Wildy ditch, as this area is less crowded than running north of Edgeville. Be wary of bounty hunter opponents teleporting to you. Tip: it can be helpful to note PvM drops (that you plan on transferring to a main account), as you may subsequently get a second drop of the same item and you'll save space if they are noted.

          d. Retrieving items: This can only be done by "Suiciding". Teleport to the Kourend Catacombs and die to the 'Dark Beasts' there. Once dead, your items will drop to the ground, separate from the looting bag. Go back to the Kourend Catacombs, pray melee, and grab your stuff (including your looting bag). The death timer for UIM is 60 minutes and your items will not appear to anyone else for this full duration, giving you plenty of time. The looting bag does not get destroyed when you die (unlike OSRS) - instead it just drops on the ground and empty's all of the items that were in it.

88747dc2787bd259ad335684d253a589.png  e5648f6d3257fd2feb3a5056a4ea9a0c.png

2. Noting / Unnoting Items

          a. Use items on bank tellers in order to note or unnote them.

3. Saving Inventory Space

          a. Untradable Items: Many items that are untradable will be stored with the "Lost item manager" (south of edgeville bank) when you die and they can be re-purchased for gold - anywhere from 200k to 1 million gp, depending on the specific item. Use this to save space when you don't need the items. Items that are stored at the Untradable shop include: Anything purchased from the achievement shop (Shayzien armour, cooking gloves, etc), skill / max capes, elite void, crystal halberd, imbued rings, slayer mask, dragon defender... and more.

Note 1: Making items untradable by adding ornamental kits does not always (or ever) work. E.g. adding dark infinity re-colour to infinity robes does not make them go to the Untradable shop, instead they just drop on the ground like they usually would. However, imbuing rings does work. So it's item specific.

Note  2: 'Dropping' untradable items does not work (they won't go to the untradable store, they'll just disappear) - you have to actually die with them in your inventory for them to go to the untradable store.

                                            fe5288ca8e757f3b3733263003f2a31b.png

          b. Inventory Storage Items: The Rune Pouch, Herb Sack and Seed Box can all be used to save space (see para 5a for more details).

          c. Thanks @UIM Dummy for this tip: you can use barrows armour sets on the trading post to turn them into one item.

Note: The Zulrah banking method (in OSRS) does not work on Alora. Additionally, the POH costume room does not work - it can be built, but you can't store any items there.

4. Transferring Items to a Main Account

          a. Description: It can be useful to transfer duplicate PvM drops to a main account, as you can then sell them.

          b. Method: Firstly, be wary of transferring your cash, as this can be a little crippling when trying to buy back untradable items or insuring pets. Secondly, your main account will need to either be the same combat level, or very close, in order to do this with the least amount of risk possible.

So the method; Suicide in the Kourend Catacombs (see para 1d), but before you die make sure that you type in ;;skull, so that you become skulled and don't keep your best 3 items. Once dead, run back to Kourend Catacombs. You may have to pick up half your items and suicide again on a different tile, as you may have too many items on 1 pile to selectively pick them up. Note: This does not cause your first pile of items to disappear - you can die as many times as you want within the next hour and each pile of your dropped items will have its own independent 60 minute timer.

Grab ONLY the items that you want to transfer to your main, and teleport back to PvP > Varrock (multi-combat). Type in ;;skull again and then let your main account kill you in level 3 wildy. There's always going to be some risk to this (e.g. a bounty hunter opponent could teleport to one of your accounts and steal the kill), so be ready to flee back into safety if this happens.

          c. Getting Bonds on UIM: You can buy in game Bonds on your main account, "Revert" them for 5m gp, and then "Use" them on your UIM.

Note: Drop trading items on a UIM account does not work.

5. Using Store Tokens

          a. Priority items for Saving Space: With store / donator tokens, consider buying a Rune Pouch, Seed Box and Herb Sack. Not only do these items save you space, but they will also go to the Untradable store when you die, so they can be stored themselves later on if you don't need them at that moment. Alternatively, the Rune Pouch can be gained as a PvM drop from Wildy bosses, the Herb Sack can be purchased with 7.5k slayer points and the Seed Box can be obtained from the Daily Task Rewards for 350 points.

                          54ab10df864a58a7337611e0b7d70aaf.png               0111fad8779453b4e7179309e1e23914.png               aa246cabf63b9d6a3efccc0fc823f1fe.png

Note: Thanks @UIM Ymmud for this tip: If you die with the seed box in your inventory, you will lose all seeds that are stored in it.

          b. Other Useful Items: Like on regular, HC and EIM Ironman, other useful items include: Imbue scrolls, Imbued Heart, Magic Stones (if going for Nature Pet house)... etc.

6. Pets

There are a couple of ways to store pets on UIM.

          a. Pet House: A Nature Pet house can be constructed at 92 construction, however this requires 2 magic stones (very rarely dropped by monsters or obtained through the ;;store). Additionally you need a total of 22 free inventory spots (20 build items, + a saw and hammer) to hold all of the items required for its construction. The Nature Pet House holds 8 pets only (unlike on OSRS). Lower tiered pet houses hold smaller amounts (e.g. Oak houses hold 2, Teak 3... etc).

                                                                                                           3c68383dd72639824a423e6a61facce0.png

          b. Probita: She is an NPC just south west of Edgeville bank. She will insure each pet for 10m gp, and you will need to pay 1m gp if you want to recover a pet. By right clicking "Check" on her, you can see all of your insured pets in a nice concise list. This is a more permanent way to store your pets if you decide to start pet hunting (for more than 8 pets for example). Once insured, you can suicide to lose a pet so that it doesn't take up space in your inventory.

Note: If you die with a pet in your inventory, it will drop to the ground as an item. Do not leave it to dissapear, as Probita will not realise that this pet is 'lost' and you won't be able to recover it later (although it will stay on her list of insured pets). Make sure that you die with your pet following you, as this will then classify it as being 'lost'.

                                                                                              339be98dacd9a5b889338d7ebcf0f836.png

7. Wilderness Activities

          a. Fortunately, the 60 minutes death timer for UIM provides plenty of opportunity to complete wilderness activities whilst your items lie on the ground in relative safety. Be aware that Power Cuts or Internet Outages can really screw you over here, so try be careful. Also bear in mind that items that would go to the Untradable store on death will continue to go there even if you get killed by another player, regardless of what level Wildy you're in. So for example, this makes the Crystal Halberd and Elite Void ideal for PvM'ing in the Wildy, as you can never lose them (you just need to pay gp to get them back).

          b. UIM's keep 3 items when they die (unlike OSRS), or 4 if using the Protect Item prayer. Below is an example of a Wildy PvM set up:

             736681b67417b176153659793c12901f.png

Note 1: You could supplement your protected 3 (or 4) items with untradable gear (such as elite void), but make sure that the untradable items are the ones that will be lost on death - not the normal tradable items (like my bandos armour in the above pic). You can check this by clicking on the "Worn Equipment" tab, and then the "View items kept on death" tab.

Note 2: Instead of keeping noted food in your inventory (and risking it in the Wildy), you can thieve one item at ;;thieve, sell it to the trader there and then buy a fishing item (e.g. harpoon) to fish an inventory of food. In the above set up, I have the cooking cape as my 4th item (99 cooking req, or alternatively cooking gloves are good). It only costs 100k and is useful for cooking high tier food without burning it - thereby slightly increasing the amount of time you have in the Wildy to PvM before needing to pick your items back up.

8. Skilling

For the most part I'm not going to describe how to skill - there are plenty of other guides out there for these, so I'll only comment where your skilling method might need to be adjusted in light of the fact that you're a UIM account.

          a. Inventory space: For some skills inventory space is a priority, so it's best to store as many items as possible in your looting bag and wear the remainder. If you have too many items to do this, it's going to make your skilling of some skills less efficient. Try not to jump between skills too much. It's an unfortunate downside of UIM that camping 1 skill to level 99 at a time is the most efficient way to play.

          b. Prayer: You could use the chaos altar, or if you can't be bothered using the suicide method to enter the wildy (or don't want to risk your bones), you can instead use them on an altar in someone else's player owned house, and then tele back home and unnote them on the bank teller to get another inventory. If you have your own gilded altar then you can use this (only need a tinderbox) for quite a lot more xp. Unfortunately the demonic butler won't unnote bones.

          c. Runecrafting: The runecrafting pouches from the Aubury npc at ;;shops are very useful. Don't be afraid to drop your pouches after you're finished a runecrafting session, as you accumulate a lot of runecrafting points and there's nothing better to spend them on anyway (so you can just drop your pouches, re-buy them, drop them again... so on).

          d. Construction: Zulrah drops Mahogany planks and Kraken drops Oak planks. Making planks from logs is workable, but quite tedious. Use a demonic butler to speed up the process, as he will unnote items in your inventory for a small fee. Alternatively for best xp, you can make Incense burners at level 69 con (in a chapel room) out of 2x Steel bars and 2x Bolts of cloth. Steel bars can be gained from Gargoyals, or easily from Steel dragons (especially once you've completed Dragon Slayer 2 and can get them noted). Bolts of cloth can be purchased for gp from the Construction guy outside the POH.

          e. Herblore: These herbs are good to keep: Irits, Kwuarms, Cadantines (for xp), Toadflax, Snapdragons, Ranarrs and Lantadymes. The first 3 herbs all have easy to obtain secondaries, and are useful for boosting your stats whilst slaying / PvM'ing. The last 4 are useful. Personally I don't collect Ranarrs or Lantadymes anymore, but you may find these helpful early on. For secondaries, Eyes of Newts can be purchased from Paul, Limpwurt roots and White berries can be quickly obtained from Kurasks (I collect these only as needed - they don't have a permanent spot in my bag), Birds nests from the GIant Mole, Red spiders eggs from Venenatis (drops 500 at a time so only really need once, use the suicide method first so you don't risk your stuff).

Note: Birds Nests can be obtained by trading in your mole skins and claws to the farmer in Falador park, BUT when you trade him noted skins / claws he will give you back UNNOTED nests. Don't be a pleb like me and trade him a giant stack of skins and claws, as you cannot hold all of the birds nests he gives you and you'll lose most of them on the ground. The best way to do this is to unnote an inventory of claws / skins at Falador East bank (make sure you have a Pestle and Mortar), drop your main noted pile on the ground, re-note the 20 or so unnoted ones and drop these on a different pile. Depending on whether you have claws or skins, do this 2 or 3 times. Then run the smaller noted pile to the Farmer to unnote for birds nests, and then run back to Falador East bank to pick up the larger pile.

                                               8cbf8793b7da02110fee41257a501da2.png

          f. Crafting: Although you can do this by cutting gems, by far the easiest method is to collect flax from Zulrah (drops 1,000 at a time) and use the "Spin Flax" lunar spell to quickly spin them. You'll need Astral runes, Nature runes and an Air Staff. Although this is slow, it's faster / easier to collect supplies in comparison to other crafting methods. Fortunately UIM's still enjoy a 40x xp rate, so it doesn't take 'too' long.

          g. Fletching: You can fletch the abundance of magic logs that you get from bosses / wc, or alternatively buy both broad bolts components from the slayer master (feathers not required) and add them together - this is a cool method as it isn't affected by having limited inventory space available.

          h. Smithing: Crystal keys will get you a lot of rune bars, so if you do slayer first this will go a lot easier. Collect adamant bars from Zulrah / Skeletal Wyverns. With the introduction of the blast furnace, you could utilise both noted runite ore and coal (both dropped by Zulrah and other bosses) to make extra bars.

Note: Thanks @Elite Sheets for this tip: making gold bars at the blast furnace (with goldsmithing gauntlets) is the quickest way to level up. Avoiding having to use coal for smelting is also super helpful for UIM accounts, due to the limited inventory space. Additionally gold ore is dropped by a few monsters (such as Gargoyals) and so can be collected passively whilst slaying, or can just be obtained and kept whilst training mining. Gargoyals also drop steel bars and mithril bars, which can be useful for lower level smithing xp.

          i. Farming: Definitely plant as many herb seeds as you can for herbs, you can Note grimy herbs on tool lephrechauns, and additionally they will hold onto your farming equipment so that you don't have to constantly re-buy them from Paul (or carry them around). If you're trying to rush for 99 farming, I'd suggest camping Lizardman Shamans as they drop both yew and magic seeds fairly commonly (plus you could get a dragon warhammer), and these only take 90 minutes to grow.

9. Raids 1 (Chamber of Xeric)

          a. Inventory: The set up is the same for normal / elite Ironmen accounts, except with 3 additions - your looting bag, zulrah scales and noted saradomin brews (optional). It's completely fine to not bring any super restores as they're easy to loot inside a raid (and you generally only need to loot a couple). It's also possible to just bring cooked fish instead of brews, although your team mates might not like you looting a tonne of Xeric's Aids. Use the bronze axe spawn in the Ice Demon room (instead of bringing a dragon axe) and don't worry too much about super potions (you can often loot them within the raid anyway).

        b. Switches: Elite void is great, as this saves on the amount of switches you need to make. You can get away with only switching out your void helmets and weapons, although to be a little extra effective it's not a bad idea to also switch amulets / necklaces. You don't have to bring a crossbow + rubies (blowpipe is fine by itself). Additionally if you want to save on darts, consider bringing a trident + mage void switch for Olm's right hand, as it does a good amount of damage with the latest Olm update.

                       aa32a542355410b9fd93bf9e76098516.png                     e33a186f43d49f8defaf8cf151185d2a.png

10. The Inferno

          a. Method: This is basically the same as completing the Inferno on other account types. However, be mindful that you'll have at least 1 or 2 less inventory slots. Blood barrages / blitz's can save you taking too many brews. Consider not bringing a crossbow + rubies, as your toxic blowpipe can be used on the final boss (unlike OSRS). The crystal halberd can save you having to bring a shield slot - if you do bring a shield (for tanking when maging), wear it when you go in so that you can have a full inventory and then drop, pick up and re-drop a prayer potion in between waves (until you've got enough space to hold it).

          b. Supplies: It's a good idea to plant ranarr weeds or snapdragons in your herb patches, so that it is quick to restock on potions if you die inside the inferno, without having to waste time killing monsters for the herbs. Soul runes (for blood barrage) and super restores (if you can't make them) can both be obtained as drops from Cerberus.

#224235 QoL - remove 'examine' option from items on ground

Posted by Bhaal on 10 October 2018 - 06:59 PM

Hey,

Sometimes when there are lots of items on the ground the 'examine' option for each one can make it difficult to select which items to pick up. Removing the 'examine option' for items on the ground only (not items in inventory etc), could make this process a little easier.

Not sure how difficult this would be to code.

It's not on OSRS (as far as I'm aware).

Cheers,

#222433 Pet House, QOL - I'm very sad

Posted by Bhaal on 04 October 2018 - 05:46 PM

Hey all,

Firstly this is an issue that only really affects Ultimate Ironmen (as we have no bank), so I understand if nobody else particularly cares :), but I just got my 9th pet and made the sad discovery that the Nature House on Alora can only hold 8 pets, unlike on OSRS which can hold up to 52.

I was going for the 15 unique pets forum award / achievement, but currently this isn't going to be possible. As pet hunting is a long, tedious but highly rewarding end-game activity, I suggest the below:

Main suggestion: Change the Nature house so that can hold more pets, in line with OSRS.

Alternative suggestion: Allow us to build more than one menagerie room.

This has already been suggested, but I thought I'd go ahead and suggest it again anyway (apologies).

Thanks fam.

#222421 Alting in raid / Option to scale raid up

Posted by Bhaal on 04 October 2018 - 05:06 PM

Support the idea of having a 'challenge mode' or some other mechanic to make it harder, but I wouldn't support the idea of allowing us to use alts in the same raid (with no other changes to the raid mechanics) - this would make raids easier, its pretty easy to control 2 or 3 accs at the same time, or just have one acc suicide olm whilst the other accs get points during the raid

#221604 Remove the RNG when going for a certain slayer task

Posted by Bhaal on 01 October 2018 - 06:42 PM

Total support, and agree with the provisio that you can't build a streak.

Having the ability to cancel tasks for free, but having to go through several chat options is pain. IMO it doesn't impact on difficulty at all, its simply a QOL update. Won't really affect how populated bosses are (it just saves us a few mins of redundant clicking).

Awesome suggestion :)

#219239 ICE [Ironman/Classic/Elite] PVM/PVP/SKILLING

Posted by Bhaal on 22 September 2018 - 07:30 PM

Account Name (IGN) - UIM Georgie

What is your current rank? (Put N/A if currently unranked) - Sergeant

When did you last apply for a rank? (Put N/A if this is your first app) - Around 2 weeks ago

What rank are you applying for? - Lieutenant

What are your strengths? - Friendly (I try to help ppl out as much as I can in cc and be supportive), calm (I never get triggered or lose my temper at people) and mature

What are your weaknesses? - I'm more of a casual player, probably play 3/4 hours a day (on avg). Some days more, some days less. This is because I'm in postgrad study and my irl life can be sporadically busy at times

In a short paragraph, please explain why you feel you deserve the rank you're applying for. -

Well I don't know if 'deserve' is the way I'd frame it, but I think I would be a helpful addition to the ice staff.

Firstly because of my aforementioned strengths (friendliness, calmness, maturity).

Secondly because I'm a regular UIM member in the cc and so have a different perspective on some Alorian issues than people on other types of accounts - not neccasarily better or worse, just different.

And lastly, I'm from New Zealand which means that I'm often playing in the graveyard period when there aren't many other staff members on. This helps to counter the casualness of my play time.

#217452 QoL changes to "Yell"

You can turn off yell, but that means that you miss a lot of the stuff that you do want to read =D

#216092 Monthly Challenges

Posted by Bhaal on 09 September 2018 - 07:35 PM

Hey guys,

My suggestion is for Alora to have super hard, unique and fun monthly (or multi monthly) challenges. I've got a few starter ideas, but the actual challenges could be anything.

I guess in a way they are sort of similar to achievements, but they wouldn't be required for normal completion (such as obtaining the monkey cape) or give achievement points and they would be month specific only.

Some example PvM ideas are below. They could also be non-combat and PvP, although I don't know how you'd do PvP ones without them being easily cheated.

-The Elite Four: obtain all 4x gwd pets in one month (possibly next to impossible within one month - perhaps two or three months).

-Spirit World: obtain a sigil as a drop from the Corporeal beast and create a spirit shield.

-Indecent Exposure: complete the fire caves with no armour or weapons.

-Faithless Jad: complete the fire caves with no prayer

-Unprepared: complete the fire caves with nothing in your inventory

-Solo Xeric: complete Raids 1 solo, within a certain time limit, without dying

-Solo Theatre of Blood: complete Raids 2 solo within a certain time limit

-Stay away: kill Commander Zilyana without her melee'ing you

-Faithless Kree'arra: kill Kree'arra with no prayer

just some examples.

Rewards:

Just cosmetic stuff. Maybe a badge on your forum profile for unique challenges. If we hadn't just added Chompy hats I would've suggested them, as they would be a super easy way to identify how many challenges somebody has done.

This kind of thing would be good end game content that doesn't introduce any power creep, but just gives people bragging rights and quirky challenges to accomplish.

#212903 Cancel Slayer Tasks - Right click option

Posted by Bhaal on 27 August 2018 - 02:16 PM

It would be cool if we could right click on the slayer master and have a "Cancel Task" option, to avoid having to manually cancel each task. This would be helpful if you're 'task hunting' for a specific task, and having to cancel most assignments.

No change to points required to cancel etc.

Granted I only suggest this if it's an easy job to code.

Cheers,
