what if they give existing players the option to do this, but they have to reset their stats (while wearing nothing ofc). that way players can keep their progress (clogs, ca's, quests, diaries) while also being able to obtain ranks fairly with people who are also that low stat (while obviously having an advantage in skilling supplies, but no real way around that i suppose

Well I was kinda hinting towards this solution. If this were to happen I don't think it would be possible to have fair hiscores. This is not great but I don't think the hiscores are ever going to be fair since how they currently work and have worked from the start. Also I think a server reset would kill this server personally. After resetting stats to 1 and changing to lower XP rate old players would have the gear and supplies to train faster but it's not like they did not work for it. All of this is why I am leaning no on this right now but I like the idea. I guess they can go for it as is on the post but I believe it would feel weird for old players, or at least to me, but maybe at the same time bring in new players.

I like the idea although I feel like it is quite late for this change. This could have been done years ago.

I think it is fair that you can not go from higher rates to lower rates since you can abuse this, however, if existing players are left without a choice I do not think that is fair. Like someone mentioned we would most likely have some kind of icons or what not to distinguish players with different XP modes, which leaves us with old players having no choice in that matter and have to deal with what they got just because they started earlier. Thus forcing people to start over if they want lower XP and different icon. I think this change should only come if existing players can have the choice as well which I understand is problematic. Perhaps full reset of stats if you were to change from higher XP rate to lower.

Just my thoughts at the moment. I voted no for now.

I would like it very much to be static as it would help with speedruns as well as solo raids. Hoping to see it getting changed at some point but I think @Omicron is quite busy with Sailing and trying to catch up with OSRS updates.

I think it would be great to add these shops in game. The fact that you need to donate for essential supplies for construction and soon sailing as well, or get incredible lucky on the rare drop table is crazy. For context I have never gotten a Magic stone rare drop in this game with over 8000 hours playtime and countless NPCs killed.
