#449494 Feedback for 2022

Posted by Tauri on 31 December 2022 - 09:54 AM

Hello Community!

Since it's been a while since the last feedback by any player, I will take the time and write something about the game and about the players, so we could start 2023 in a good note! ;)

#1: Game

We have had numerous updates throughout the year, the biggest of them being the release of Raids 3 - Tombs of Amascut. We have had many QoL updates and new content being released into the game. Even though some times, the first few days after an update may give us some bugs that may cause frustration, in the end the bugs will be liquidated. Considering we only have 2 people developing the game and not many players who can give a solid input in testing the content, the outcome is rather positive than negative. Something I would like to mention that hasn't been mentioned publicly but has been told me privately many times, is that the ToA feels very good since the first hotfix. People are pleased with the content and that's what I love to hear and therefore mentioned it specifially for the contributors to know that they've done a good job.

Aside from updates, the game, the community is amazing. There can be some annoying things for some people, but I am not personally playing the game because it is supposed to be somewhat identical to OSRS. I play because the people here are welcoming and the community is the least toxic I've seen. Can't thank enough people who actually take their time and give their effort in making the game and community better, love you.

#2: Staff

This year we had a major change in the Staff Team. Our previous Community Manager, @Lowkey, resigned from his duties, and @Moe taking the role of CM with pride and dedication. Throughout the year, we had many people join the staff team (Including myself), leave the staff team (@2 for example) and so on, as the circle of life is. Being a part of staff team right now, gives me a bit more insight of how we are doing currently and all I can say, is that I feel blessed to be part of the team as it is right now. We have many hard-working gentlemen on the team, and many people who are here to keep the morale up for the boys, I admire that. That's what a team should be and we are always there to help each other out, to make sure regular players have a better time playing the game and be there for everyone in need of assistance.

Throughout the time of me being staff, I will name couple of current/ex-staff members that deserve a Honorable Mention:

#3: Players

As a part of Staff Team, one of our requirements is to communicate with players and make sure to show our presence in game/forums/discord. Throughout the time I've been more active in the community, I've found a numerous new friends, in addition to old ones who are playing to this day. Socializing, and having a good time doing so is crucial for people to stay around for long term. I am sure many of the people have found their friends in the clans around Alora, but I personally evaluate people by their qualities, not if they're a part of ICE, Paragon, Aftermath or Realists. That is something I am going to do for the rest of my playing days as it has turned out to be a huge positive in motivating me to log in and represent the community as a Player, as a Staff, as an Event Manager.

Even though the player count these days aren't nothing surprising, it is still solid to see numbers like 300-700 in the game, and I believe we will gain more popularity in the future, with new players coming in and staying around as they see we have a lovely place to hang out in (until they go to wilderness jk).

I would like and mention some of the players that I've personally had a blast to talk with and be thankful for their existence in the community, those players are:

There is probably many more of you, but the list would become very-very long and therefore would lose its value ;) Anyways, not gonna give any longer speeches this year, see you in 2023! <3

#439740 Thank You Boys

Posted by Moe on 04 September 2022 - 10:26 AM

Made you look! Sorry I am not leaving you :obama:

Hey GAMERS, it has been a while since I have posted one of these! We are closing in on 3 years of being one the Dadmins of Alora (just 3 months to go), and currently over 4 1/2 years of being on the Alora staff team. I will keep this one short and simple, even years later...I am still in love & drawn by the community! Each year we all get closer, new faces come through, players take breaks, old faces return, but in the end we are still that one BIG CRAZY family. I appreciate all of you that I have gotten a chance to talk with, and Omicron for giving me the chances that led to today. <3

#433293 HCGIM Dangerous Deaths

Posted by Smiv on 11 June 2022 - 05:07 PM

I voted no because I already die too much on all of my hardcores, let alone dying with my groupies and being intensely judged even more for it. But i vote whatever can match OSRS best for the Alorian culture.

#432730 [3/6/22] Theatre of Blood Rework, Interface Updates, Custom Icons, Equipment...

Posted by Omicron on 04 June 2022 - 12:26 AM

GR9Wseq.png

  • [9/6/22] Hotfixes:
    • Fixed a bug in the main Dagannoth kings area where the Dagannoth kings would lose aggression if the player stepped a few tiles away.
    • Fixed a bug where Verzik's first phase 2 attack did not have an animation.
    • Fixed a bug where players could not properly change the sound effect volume.
    • Fixed a bug where some interface resizing was not working properly (world map, GOTR flash interface).
    • Fixed a bug where Nylocas would sometimes walk into pillars after being spawned.
    • Fixed a bug where Xarpus would put poison on 2 tiles in front of the entrance in Hard Mode.
    • Thralls can now attack attack verzik in phase 1.
    • Overhealed players will no longer have their hitpoints reset when entering ToB and CoX.
    • Fixed a bug where the dragon spear special attack would sometimes not move the target.
  • [7/6/22] Hotfixes:
    • Fixed a bug with the last obstacle on the Prifddinas course not working.
    • Logging out during an obstacle will no longer teleport players home if they are in the wilderness.
    • Fixed a bug where the bounty hunter overlay wouldn’t remember if the user closed it when they left the wilderness or reloaded.
    • Fixed a bug where the attack sounds at the Nightmare got quieter as the player got further away.
    • The teleport wizard search interface will now show the description on the right side.
    • Verzik will now automatically put up her shield and start phase 1 after 7 minutes rather than 2 if the team does not start it themselves.
    • Players can now talk to Verzik before the fight has begun from anywhere in the room.
    • Verzik will now do a power-up animation for 3 attack cycles (16 ticks) when the fight begins.
      • During this time, she will not attack, but can be attacked.
    • Players can now use protect from magic to negate all the damage from Verzik's phase 2 red magic attack.
    • Fixed a bug where the previous teleport option on the Jewellery box was not working.
    • Adjusted the graphic of the red mage attack during Verzik phase 2 to be the proper projectile.
    • The Blacksmith's helm and tribal masks no longer make your head invisible.
    • The pool of nightmares to access Phosani's nightmare will now open up after killing the nightmare once, rather than requiring the player to relog after their first kill.

Hello everyone,

Today's update brings a number of Theatre of Blood changes, with a big thanks to @Mack for compiling a list of the current bugs and inconsistencies with ToB. We've also made plenty of other QoL changes, particularly with interfaces such as adding a search button to the Teleport Wizard's interface, as well as sorting the list alphabetically. We've also updated the House list, using the proper interface and full functionality to view other players' homes. The Wilderness Bounty Hunter interface has also received some love, and is now more similar to the OSRS interface, allowing it to be docked/minimized.

Additionally, any players who had the Barbarian Assault icons (custom donations) will now be able to equip those items in the "jaw slot" which is an invisible slot so that the items do not replace your cape. With this jaw slot functionality, we've also introduced Soul wars red & blue icons, as well as an interface to toggle these items on your character. All 6 "jaw-slot" cosmetic items (4 Barbarian Assault icons, and 2 Soul wars icons) are available in our store. Keep in mind that they are not tradable, and once unlocked they will always be on your account! The added benefit of this is that they will not be lost on death, either.

  • Shop Changes:
    • Custom Icons:
      • We’ve expanded the in-game icons to include more icons and apply the cosmetic effect more conveniently for players.
        • When a player tries to equip one of their icons from now on, it will prompt them with an option to permanently bind the icon to their account, allowing them to show off the cosmetic icon without needing to take up an equipment slot (previously the cape slot would be used for icons).
          • Players can change their icons by speaking to the donation manager.
      • We’ve also added 2 new icon types, being the blue icon and red icon.
        • Players can purchase these new icons, along with the old barbarian assault icons from the shop’s cosmetic section.
    • Icon prices:
      • Attacker icon
      • Defender icon
      • Collector icon
      • Healer icon
        • 575 tokens
      • Red icon
      • Blue icon
        • 1,000 tokens

aR2B9sJ.gif

  • Theatre of Blood Rework:
    • Stat boosts will no longer be removed when entering the Theatre of Blood.
    • A Vyre Orator will now appear at the beginning of the Theatre of blood just before the Maiden barrier.
      • Players can speak to this Vyre to end the raid for the entire team.
    • The Maiden of Sugadinti:
      • The blood spawns will now spawn permanent blood splats in hard mode.
    • Bloat:
      • Players can now attack bloat at any point throughout the fight.
    • Nylocas:
      • Fixed a bug where Nylocas would sometimes spawn into the pillars when the Large variants were killed.
    • Sotetseg:
      • Sotetseg will now attack potentially attack using a relatively inaccurate Melee attack if it’s target is in melee range.
        • Players who protect from melee will have this damage reduced by 50%.
        • The max hit of this attack is 45.
      • Sotetseg will now only attack with it’s mage ball attack, rather than both the range and mage ball.
        • The range ball will be from rebounds, rather than the primary attack.
        • The damage of these 2 attacks has been increased from 45 to 50.
    • Xarpus:
      • Fixed a bug where xarpus would continuously face the same corner in his defensive stage sometimes.
    • Verzik Vitur:
      • Phase 1:
        • Players will now be able to speak to Verzik to start the fight when they enter the phase.
          • The fight will officially begin when players speak to verzik and start the fight, or 2 minutes elapse.
        • Players can now deal damage to Verzik in Phase 1 without the Dawnbringer.
          • Accuracy is reduced, and damage is vastly reduced as well.
            • Range/Magic attacks can do 0-3 damage at most.
            • Melee attacks can do 0-10 damage at most.
        • The dawnbringer special attack now works properly, dealing between 75-150 damage on Verzik in the first phase.
        • Rocks will now fall around the pillar that Verzik attacks in Phase 1 in Hard Mode.
          • These rocks will deal between 5-35 damage, and stun the player for 5 ticks.
      • Phase 2:
        • Verzik will now be unattackable for a slightly longer period when transitioning from phase 1 to phase 2.
        • The exploding crabs in the Theatre of Blood will now do the correct amount of damage.
          • If the player is in any of the occupied tiles (4 tiles that the crab occupies), they’ll take 63 damage.
          • If the player is 1 tile away from the crab (any perimeter tile), they’ll take 26 damage.
          • If the player is 2 tiles away from the crab, they’ll take 8 damage.
          • The damage of the explosion will also be scaled down based on the ratio of the crab’s remaining hit points.
            • For example, if a crab with 50% hp explodes and the player is within 1 tile of it, the player will take 13 damage, rather than 26.
        • Verzik will no longer use the red magic ball attack in phase 2 until she is at 35% hp or less.
        • Verzik now has a Bounce attack that she uses during phase 2.
          • If a player is within 1 tile of her when she is about to attack, she will instead use a bounce attack on that player, dealing between 0-45 damage, and stunning that player for 8 ticks.
            • This guarantees that the player will have to tank a second hit if Verzik decides to use the poison orb attack.
        • Once Verzik has reached 35% hitpoints in this phase, she will begin to alternate attacks between the red magic attack and the range bomb attack.
          • She will also begin by spawning 2 Nylocas Matomenos, who will wander around, and then eventually explode healing Verzik for their remaining hit points.
            • She will spawn these once she reaches 35% or less hitpoints, and then every 8 attacks after that.
  • Client Settings Changes:
    • A new setting has been added to show dead npc’s context menu options.
      • This means that when an npc is dying, their context menu options will now be hidden by default.
        • The setting to re-enable the context options is only available on the runelite client, and is permanently disabled on Vanilla.
    • All of the “Coming soon” and un-used options in the extra settings list have been hidden.
  • Boss Killcount Interface Changes:
    • The Boss/Monster killcount interfaces have now been separated.
      • In the Server statistics tab, players will notice there is now a “View Monster Killcounts” option, and a “View Boss Kills/TImes” option.
      • We’ve given the boss killcounts/killtimes it’s own custom interface that is more aesthetically pleasing, and can also show bow kill times and killcounts at the same time.
        • The Monster killcounts interface will remain the same, due to the larger capacity of the scroll interface, and the search functionality.
      • The Ring of Wealth “Boss Log” option will now work properly.
      • These changes will also be reflected in the Adventure log in a player’s POH.
  • Wilderness Overlay Improvements:
    • We’ve adjusted the wilderness overlay, particularly the bounty hunter overlay, to match OSRS more closely.
      • This new overlay can be minimized or docked to different sides of the screen, and will adjust it’s positioning depending on if the KDR overlay is opened, or if the xp counter is visible.
  • Teleport Wizard Changes:
    • The Teleport Wizard search button has now been made far easier to recognize.
    • The Teleport wizard interface is now sorted alphabetically.
      • This new change may take a bit of getting used to for our veteran/dedicated players, however we think it’ll be a lot easier for new players to quickly and easily find what they’re looking for.
  • Equipment Rebalance Tier Changes:
  • House List Changes:
    • The House list interface has received a huge upgrade, which will now allow players to see all houses opened to the public, along with their features.
      • This new house list will show the following information for any open homes:
        • If the owner has a guilded altar
        • The tier of the owner’s Portal nexus (if they have one)
        • The tier of the owner’s Rejuvenation pool (if they have one)
        • The tier of the owner’s Jewellery box (if they have one)
        • The tier of the owner’s magic Altar (if they have one)
        • If the owner has an armour stand
      • Players will also have an option to directly enter the houses of any user listed on the interface.
    • Home owners who have their house open to the public and are not in build mode will automatically show up on the house list interface if they are in their homes.
      • To remove yourself from this list, you can right click the portal inside of your POH, or click the “add/remove house” button on the house list interface.
  • Collection Log Changes:
    • Additions:
      • Added the Dragonstone Gauntlets to the Miscellaneous category.
      • Added the Abyssal Protector to the “All Pets” category.
    • New Categories:
      • Random Events:
        • This category will track all of the possible items that players can obtain from random events specifically on Alora.
          • Any new items obtained will automatically be logged.
            • Players who already have these items will need to take them to The Collector npc to have him log the items.
              • All items in this category can be logged after the fact through The Collector.
      • Skilling Outfits:
        • This category tracks all of the mainstream skilling related outfits obtainable on Alora.
          • This includes the Angler outfit, Carpenter outfit, Farmer’s outfit, Graceful outfit, Lumberjack Outfit, Garments of the Eye, Prospector outfit, Pyromancer outfit, and the Rogue outfit.
            • This log does not include variants, such as coloured graceful/ornamented prospector/angler equipment.
            • All of the items in this log can be registered through The Collector if the player did not already have them in their log previously.
              • Players who had the rogue outfit before these changes will need to bring it to The Collector to have it registered.
  • Armadyl GWD changes:
    • Fixed a bug where Flight Kilisa was not properly targeting players in the room.
    • Kree’arra will now only use melee if her target is not focusing here when she’s about to attack.
  • Larran’s Key Adjustments:
    • Players will now have an extra 25% chance to get a Larran’s key per kill on Slayer tasks in the Wilderness.
    • Players will now be guaranteed a Larran’s key after killing a superior slayer npc in the Wilderness Slayer Cave.
  • Dwarf Cannon Changes:
    • Nulodion:
      • Nulodian will now hang out just outside of the Edgeville general store, waiting to help any player’s who’ve lost their Dwarf cannons.
        • If a player logs out with a cannon active, or it decays, players will need to go speak to Nulodion to retrieve their cannon.
          • Nulodion will charge a fee, 750k for classic/normal, 500k for ironmen/realism, to reclaim the cannon.
            • Warning: this will only work with 1 cannon at a time, so if a player has 2 cannons, and they lose their second one while Nulodion is holding the first one, it will be permanently gone.
            • Players will be notified that Nulodion is holding a cannon for them upon login, and immediately after the cannon decays.
    • The Dwarf cannons will now decay after 35 minutes if they are not repaired.
      • After 25 minutes, dwarf cannons will not break down, requiring that the operating player repair it.
        • Repairing it will reset the timer, meaning that the cannon won’t break down for another 25 minutes.
      • If the cannon is left broken for 10 minutes, it will then decay and disappear, and players will need to reclaim the cannon from Nulodion.
    • Any cannonballs in the dwarf cannon when it decays, or when the player logs out, will be removed and deleted, so make sure to empty your cannon before you logout with it.
  • Gauntlet Changes:
    • Players can now properly upgrade their weapons in the Gauntlet while they're equipped.
    • The third weak monster killed will only give a weapon frame if the player hasn't obtained one already.
    • Fixed a bug with players not properly receiving all 3 unique weapon upgrades within 3 demi-boss kills.
    • Demi-bosses in the Gauntlet will now guarantee a weapon frame drop.
    • Fixed a bug where the 3rd weak monster a player killed would sometimes not give a weapon frame in the Gauntlet.
    • Strong monsters (unicorns, scorpions, wolves) will now guarantee a weapon frame in the Gauntlet if the player has not received one already.
    • Corrupted Grimy roots will now be highlighted by the Gaunlet plugin.
    • Players will now automatically cook the raw paddlefish in the gauntlet every tick instead of having to repeatedly click the range.
    • Players will now automatically fill vials in the gauntlet every tick instead of having to repeatedly click the water pump.
    • The skilling action interface will no longer pop up for making unfinished/finished egniol potions in the Gauntlet.
  • Nightmare changes:
    • Drinking a relicym's balm or sanfew to weaken the nightmare parasite will now return the status bar/hp orb to normal
    • Players will no longer take 20% more damage for praying incorrectly against Phosani's range/magic/melee attacks.

#431170 I - 4.6

Posted by Sassa fras on 15 May 2022 - 08:13 AM

Good morning forums users/lurkers,

Yesterday I reached a big milestone in my account, I thought I’d share some info on the journey to 4.6b. Whether you’re a maxed ultimate ironman looking to pump those xp numbers up or a normal, functioning member of society repulsed at the thought of Nobankmanmode, hopefully you’ll find something interesting further down below. I owe a big thanks to my friends in the community for always giving me tips and motivation along the way, much love.

Taking a quick look at the methods I used:

Attack/Strength/Defence – A good amount of this was from general slayer/bossing, but I camped Vyres pretty hard for the rest:

1RlfmDE.png

I wound up getting 15 blood shards in total. These melee combats were actually a lot slower than I thought, I was averaging 3m xp/hr here.  Difficulty 5/10

Ranged – This was my first combat 200m, doing bossing and endgame content with a blowpipe was very quick to get.  Difficulty 3/10

Prayer – Almost entirely from Puro-Puro. Dragon imps give large noted drops of dragon/babydragon bones:

OcYt7zl.png

I didn’t want to risk the large amounts of bones in wildy, but obviously it would have been faster if you have wildy protection. If you would prefer not to spend hours and hours running in circles, an alternative method would be to use ash sanctifier/bone crusher while doing slayer. Difficulty 6/10

Magic – I barraged a lot of slayer tasks at Catacombs, this was the easiest combat skill to get.  Now that we have more rune shops than ever, you’ll only be limited by your cash stack to replenish those runes. Difficulty 2/10

Runecrafting – For all the runecrafting memes, I thought this one would be a lot worse. Crafting soul runes with dense essence is more afk than other methods, although as UIM we can’t bank all of our essence to save up on a runecrafting SOTD. No pet btw. Difficulty 6/10

Construction – I returned to the game after incense burners were removed, so I was dreading getting supplies. However, there was an update that added big quantities of noted teak and mahogany planks to the CoX drop table. I was grinding out Raids items and easily got enough planks for 200m along the way. After you get the supplies, this is one of the fastest skills (20m+ xp/hr). No pet btw. Difficulty 5/10

Hitpoints – Passive skill, you’ll get it from the others. Difficulty 0/10

Agility – Very boring, ran in many, many circles. Difficulty 7/10

HerbloreThe hardest skill, this will be the biggest obstacle for any UIM going for 4.6b. We’re unable to use Kingdom, so that rules out a nice passive way of getting tons of noted herbs. There are a lot of different ways to tackle this, but almost all of them are painful.  Because I am an idiot who doesn’t use a looting bag or Zulrah/Hespori storage (personal preference), it was almost unbearable. I used a few different methods since my inventory was changing for various goals at the time.

For herbs:

  1. CoX/ToB for noted Dwarf Weed, Toadflax and Snapdragon.
  2. Herbiboar (got most of 200m hunter here) for all kinds of herbs.
  3. Callisto and Venenatis for Noted Toadflax and Snapdragon (while getting secondaries).
  4. Kurasks for Irit, Kwuarm and Cadantine seeds to farm herbs (while getting secondaries).

And these are where I got my secondaries from:

  1. Crushed Nests – Callisto, I was going for pet/log so I went here instead of Mole.

    I5HQ4dS.png

  2. Red Spider Eggs – Venenatis and looting from Forthos Dungeon (8 spawns).
  3. Zammy Wines – I didn’t have enough room in my inventory to save the ones from ToB, so I instead looted a couple hundred at a time from the wildy altar (4 spawns, noted).
  4. White Berries/Limpwurt Roots – Kurasks, I didn’t think growing these from seeds received from farming contracts was worth it.
  5. Eye of Newts – Paul

I didn’t bother with making Super Combats, because holding Torstols in my inventory on top of all these other supplies was just too cluttered, and it just seemed like more work than it was worth. Daily task shop sells them anyway, who needs herblore for that? Difficulty 11/10

Thieving – I grinded this out at the super donor stall two years ago, don’t really remember much about it other than lots of clicking while watching movies. Difficulty 5/10

Crafting – I used five main methods:

  1. Cutting gems received from CoX and ToB.
  2. Cutting gems/crafting dhide bodies from Callisto and Venenatis.
  3. Glassblowing at charter shops.
  4. Making amethyst dart tips from 200m mining grind for blowpipe.
  5. Cutting dense essence blocks during the 200m runecrafting grind.

One of the harder skills to do, it’s not even that quick after you go through all the effort of getting the supplies (like construction). I haven’t done any Gauntlet, but I think that really would have helped speed up this skill for me. Difficulty 8/10

Fletching – I had tons of supplies from Puro-Puro (dragon dart tips/dragon arrowtips/etc) during the 200m prayer grind. If you save up a bunch of vote points you can always just load up on rune bars to turn into dart tips. For the rest I did amethyst darts to put in my blowpipe. Obviously when you have all the supplies, this skill is very, VERY fast in wildy (rip your wrists though). Difficulty 4/10

Slayer – One of the hardest skills, I saved this one for last. For almost all of the 200m grind I barraged nechryaels and dust devils in Catacombs on Konar tasks... this was about 3m xp/hr. For the last 10m xp or so, I did Zuk tasks, which give 4.4m xp per task (takes about 50 minutes with suiciding + gearing + completing the run). Picked up a cool pet the run before getting 200m:

GwcfOkM.png

I think if I did this over, I would have started Inferno tasks much, much sooner. Difficulty 9/10

Hunter – I used two methods, both have their pros and cons. Red chins are faster xp than Herbiboar, but not by much. It has the benefit of not needing much inventory space, but you don’t end up using the chins at all. Also, if another player is in the best spot at ::DZ, you have to go do something else or use a less optimal spot (which means less xp). Herbiboar is less click intensive and gave noted herbs (donor perk) that I needed for 200m herb. NEITHER PET(Baby Chin and Herbi)?!?   Difficulty 7/10

Mining – I tried to get to as many Shooting Stars as possible for the initial xp drop of finding it first. The rest was done at Amethyst.  Difficulty 4/10

Smithing – This skill should pretty much be renamed “Gold Smelting at Blast Furnace”. The only barrier to this 200m is getting enough gold ore. My main sources were CoX/ToB, wilderness bosses, and buying the stock from Blast Furnace shop. Buying the gold ore was especially annoying to do, because my inventory was so cluttered I had to suicide every time I wanted to buy out the entire stock of 500.  Difficulty 8/10

Fishing/Cooking – Afk skills that go together, not too fast and not too slow.  Difficulty 4/10

Woodcutting/Firemaking – These were the initial 200ms that I grinded out for monkey back in the day. Woodcutting at redwoods was a relatively quick and afk skill, the only annoyance was how often the redwood trees would be completely bugged. Firemaking was very fast, just set your home tele to Varrock, burn a line down to the Varrock bank and repeat. Difficulty 2/10

Farming – The huge xp drops from higher-end trees/fruit trees/Calquats make this skill easy. Seed box is a big help for UIM, as we don’t have access to the seed vault. Difficulty 3/10

And here’s a final look at my skilling pets collection log during this grind to 4.6b.

Onto the next goal (new post coming soonTM), thanks for reading!
