Been a while since we've done a post, while most of you are aware of what's going on and the changes we roll out as you play ingame or browse the forums. 


Promotions:

James was promoted to Server Moderator. A bunch of us have worked with him in the past, so he has previous experience that will benefit the current staff team and we're glad to have him aboard!

casual has been promoted to Server Support.

Ramon has been promoted to Server Support.

 

Resignations: 

Mewtwo has decided to step down from his position of global moderator, as he wants to focus on his studies. We wish him the best of luck attaining his diploma and would like to welcome him back with open arms once he finishes his studies.

Iron Colotic has resigned once again due to unknown circumstances. 

 

Demotions:

Otto has been demoted for inactivity at first, while conducting an investigation on his account we have decided to ban him. Most of you know the story behind this, and this issue has been put to bed in the past.
Messy has been removed from the server support team, there was a conflict of interest between the administration team, that is all I am going to say about that matter.

Jackie Nimb has been removed from the forum moderation team for inactivity in his role.

Cam Only has been removed from the server support team due to the lack of respect, and conflict of interests in the majority of the team.

This week their were a few changes we made to our staff team!


Promotions:
Ikta has been repromoted to his original position as Forum Moderator, he was also former Administrator on Alora.
Twist bows has been promoted to Server Moderator.
Iron Colotic has been promoted to Server Support.
Syntax has been promoted to Server Moderator.

 

Demotions:
Chiszle has been demoted from server support due to abuse and other reasons that remain amoung the staff team.
Mystogan - Demoted from server moderator due to inactivity, he is currently busy with his studies and we do not wish that conflicts with Alora.
3rdage has been demoted from server moderator due to inactivity and unable to meet our quotas.

Temp Demotion:
Picaluga has been demoted from Server Support due to recent events we are giving him some time, and hopefully all goes well so he can make a swift return.

Resignation:
Otto has resigned from his administrator duties, he played a huge role in our community and and definitely will be missed. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

As it seems a lot of people have been having issues regarding their accounts being hacked, I am making this thread to show you around the different two-factor authentication applications, and how to use them. You can have a Two-factor Authentication applications saved onto your mobile device, or your computer. Depending on your preference. But please; DON'T DELETE THE APPLICATION, OR WRITE DOWN THE BACKUP CODE.

 

  Two-factor Authentication (2FA) provides and extra layer of security for your account, generating a code which you need to enter once you login. If you have 2FA set-up, and fail to provide the code, you cannot have full access to the account. Once enabled, you have to initially enter a code to login to the Forums and In-game. It is strongly recommended to have 2FA enabled.

 

A list of Two-factor Authentication applications supported by Alora:

 

- Duo-Mobile

- Google Authentication

- Authy

- WinAuth

 

 

How to setup 2FA on Alora;

 

To remove 2FA;

 

Most Two-factor Authentication are rather straight-forward. But in the future I will possibly add how to use each program if requested. As of right now, I use Duo-Mobile as my application and it works great.

Reminder: You must relog in game and enter in your 2fa code before you are able to get bonus EXP!

Oldschool Runescape 10 years played and maxed has nothing to do with it. It bothers me if someone apply for SS, they get accepted like after 5 "supports"

It's a volunteer helping position. Don't see why this would effect you, especially if they can do the job..lol.

1 - I am not going to delay promotions if I am going to eventually accept them. This is because I know they are doing a good job, and will continue to do a good job in the future. This happened in multiple cases, the fastest I have accepted an application was not even to have an application. And if you do not consider that one the fastest would be an app that was not even up for 30 minutes.

 

2 - Yelling is not a requirement for helping, as long as you can do a good job. Present your application in a nice format and are already helping in the clan chats in which my team has already seen you actively doing a good job you will most likely get promoted. Yelling is always a bonus, and you will probably get the habit of it while you are SS, but by no means a requirement.

Demotions
Iron Sux has been temporarily demoted from server moderator until we figure some stuff out.

The logo in your name is good enough imo.

• The achievement unlock feature on Paul only applies to accounts who have been on Alora for over 10 hours.
  • This means you'll also have to pay 10m to de-iron if you intend to take advantage of it and play as a normal player.
• Donator benefits fixed for players who have it as a secondary rank:
  • Eg. If you were an Iron
  • man with Uber donator secondary group, you would not be able to purchase black skin, for example, which required Super donator rank.
• Raids fixes:
  • Enemy hitpoint bars would often "flicker" within the Raids dungeon (going back to full randomly), this has been fixed.
• Hunting bug fixes:
  • Long overdue, but better late than never!
    • We've fixed the weird box trap dupe issue, as well as the fact that some box traps would never despawn from the world.
      • Proud to say... No more box traps at home!
• Platinum token bug fixed:
  • If you had more than ~2.1m tokens (2.1b gp) and tried to convert them, you would potentially lose the remainder of your GP over 2.147b.
    • This has been fixed, and the bank booth will only exchange the maximum amount that your inventory can hold.
• Rules update:
  • Thanks to @Jare, our rules have been entirely refreshed! The links have been updated from the shoutbox as well as the ::rules command in-game. Spam him in-game to give him a big thanks for all of the effort he put into redoing them :)
• Staff updates:
  • Fixed jail command (bug when other player is online -- offline jailing was working normally)
  • Tempmute command fixed for Server support
• Bank fix:
  • The core bank code contained a bug which didn't count placeholders as "used" bank spaces, meaning if you had a full bank and deposited an item it might not find a place to store it.
• Battle royale changes:
  • Vengeance-other has been disabled within the combat area.
  • An option to enable/disable new prayers (raids prayers) has been added -- the administrator who is hosting the battle can toggle this.
  • The battle royale countdown/playercount interface was being moved to the center of the screen on resizable and getting in the way.
    • It should stick to the top of the screen after this update once you restart your client.
  • The ability for admins to give staff members 1k hitpoints has been added.
    • To provide a more even chance for this weekend's Staff vs. World event, we've added this function!
      • Slain staff members will also be announced to the world.
  • Death messages will now appear in Safe mode ("Oh dear, you are dead!" and "<name> did not stand a chance against you."
    • Additionally, The "Battle royale competitor <name> has been slain" will now include the killer's name.
• Corporeal beast drop rates adjusted:
  • We've tried to keep the rates on Sigils low so that they aren't flooded into the game, but we've noticed a serious lack of drops over the past few weeks.
    • To fix this, we've adjusted the rate as follows:
      • Instead of 1/585 to land on the sigil table, it is 1/485 (in line with other Alora rare drops, which is OSRS rate * 1.23 for the most part)
        • The sigils are still 100% guaranteed once you land on the table, with the same chance/7 as OSRS. (unchanged since last update)
• De-iron functions fixed for Ultimate ironman:
  • An oversight caused the de-iron function to not work properly for Ultimate ironmen.
    • This has been fixed and tested. There have been no changes to the previous intended mechanics for this.
• Looting bag change:
  • Some players were confused with how the bag works - even if you have 2 bags and "destroy" one it would empty your looting bag.
    • To prevent confusion, you can no longer pickup a looting bag if you already own one.
• Skin color fixes:
  • A bug was causing you to not be able to purchase skin colors meant for lower ranks.
  • A separate bug caused your skin to not save even if you could purchase it.
    • There shouldn't be any more issues with skin colors.
• April fools events:
  • Two events have been added -- one for staff, and one for regular players!
    • We won't get into too much detail on the update thread
• Item fixes:
  • 3rd Age longsword now works
  • 3rd Age bow now works
  • Anger sword now works
• Graceful recoloring update:
  • You can now recolor your graceful item by using your marks of grace on any piece that you own.
  • The following colors are available:
    • Purple, blue, gold, red, blue
      • Each piece has its own respective cost to recolour, but ALL colors are the same price for each corresponding piece:
        • Hood - 32 marks
        • Top - 50 marks
        • Legs - 52 marks
        • Cape - 36 marks
        • Gloves - 28 marks
        • Boots - 36 marks
      • (Prices are relative to their original store prices)
  • Only the REGULAR colored sets can be recolored. Once you've chosen a color, you cannot switch it without buying a new plain piece from Grace.

Skillers choose to skill in the wilderness for bonus exp, they don't have to, I have no issues as a skiller when someone attacks me constantly, nor do I have any sympathy for skillers who complain about it

 

Pkers can only pk in the wilderness.

Give me a few reasons why it's beneficial for the server to have players risking nothing and attack pkers (often for multiple hours a day, multiple days a week) who have real intentions of killing people, both with teamwork, and high wealth risk to dish out different forms of damage etc.

 

Ragging as a lifestyle isn't good for the server, there's a reason why people who rag on osrs get perm banned for doing this (granted it's only when they do it to streamers usually)

If you do happen to vote for something can you please give a brief example or even ideas of what you would like to see, Omicron and I will be visiting this poll throughout the week and gathering ideas from the community. Please take your time and vote and have a chance to be heard!

 

I'm not going to add bug fixes to the list as those are done weekly when new updates are released.

Anyone who has killed Lizardmen Shamans on Alora can attest to the insane damage they do. That is nearly identical to the damage dealt in oldschool runescape except luckily in oldschool we have the Shayzien set to reduce damage. I understand keeping them difficult to keep the economy stable but I fell all players would benefit form having the set(which is already ingame) coded properly, giving some damage reduction. It would give us some more use for achievement points, and make shamans that much less painful.

Personally, I'm fine with allowing HCIM to use all bonuses as long as they can only claim one vote book per 12 hour period.  This would hopefully allow players who don't have mains/money on their main to stay competitive on the highscores. 

No support, would crash the price of most items.

 

OSRS has 40 worlds to hop but also has x*insert a random number* more players than us.
