Hello everyone!
I’ve been playing Alora for a few weeks now, so I figured it was about time I properly introduced myself! :)
I’m Louis, 31, from the Flemish side of Belgium, close to Bruges and about half an hour from the coast. I currently work at the European Parliament, where my work revolves around policy development and legislative initiatives. What motivates me most is the opportunity to contribute to meaningful progress, helping shape policies that address citizens’ concerns and enhance their quality of life. Pursuing an international career and collaborating with people from across Europe has been an ambition of mine since childhood, making this a particularly fulfilling chapter of my life.
Outside of work and enjoying the runescape scene, I play competitive volleyball as an outside hitter. We won the championship last season, which means we’re playing a division higher this year. Safe to say we’ll have to work a 'little' harder for our wins now. However, where there's a will, there's a way!
RuneScape has been part of my life since 2005, playing with IRL friends as well as my younger brother, so it’s followed me all the way from childhood into adulthood. On OSRS, I managed to get my Zuk helm before Raids 4, reaching the point where I could tell myself I’d “finished” the game… as much as anyone ever finishes RuneScape!
For me, RuneScape has always been a place to unwind, clear my head and escape the demands of everydays life for a while. There’s something comforting about returning to a game/place you’ve known for so many years.
But beyond the real grind, it’s the people who make a game worth coming back to. A random talk, raid or celebrating someone else’s unique can end up being more memorable than whatever you originally logged in to do (especially if it's skilling in my case). The sense of familiarity, where you start recognising names and getting to know the people behind them, is something I have really start to value while getting older (yes, I'm having problems with the 31 as far as you can tell
). I’ve often found that feeling more easily on private servers and my first few weeks/month on Alora have reminded me why. I’m looking forward to becoming more involved, getting to know you all, and hopefully contributing to the same welcoming atmosphere that’s made me enjoy my time here so far.
You’ll mostly find me doing PvM. After all these years, the excitement of seeing a rare drop still hasn’t worn off, and it probably never will. There’s always another boss to kill and another drop to chase!
Looking forward to meeting more of you, having a chat, and hopefully sharing a few raids and drops along the way. See you in-game! :)
