In Alora you mostly make money via other players, getting whatever wealthy veteran endgame players say they want. They don't always say, and sometimes you have to predict. A great and timeless place to look for ideas is in the "View recent activity (last 50 trades)" of the Trading Post.
Here's a ton of moneymaking methods in Alora:
Assumption: you're broke. Or other players could describe you as "cute".
- No requirements: ::vote for a book worth 5.5m today. If you want them to be worth more 6m+ perhaps even 7m, comment on this thread that is about reviving the vote point shop with something.
No skill requirements:
- Turn bracelets of ethereum into revenant ether.
- Buying copper ore from shops for pennies and selling them for 50k ea. Buying bronze bars and other bars from shops. Bronze bars sell for 180k ea right now.
- Buying tomes of fire and "emptying" them by right clicking on them, so that they'll be visible in the TP search.
- Claiming the daily reward on the 14th day.
- Alching dragon equipment or better. Almost no one alches their stuff in Alora so there's probably some money to be made here.
- killing the lava dragons for crushed lava scales for herblore. Bring trident of the swamp (because you'll keep all scales on PK death), thammaron's/accursed scepter (you'll lose ether on death but it hits highest), or a water spell. An alternative to lava dragons is killing the Mage Arena 1 mages with the same stuff for Infinity boots. Mystic top and bottom are enough to begin, no need to risk. Infinity boots can probably be sold for 15m ea.
- Making Zammy spears into Zammy Hastas at Ottos Grotto. Perhaps turns 6-7m into 11m-12m for 500k coins.
- Killing any mob, even chickens or cows, for caskets of coins. Get double the amount of caskets with ring of wealth(i5). Requires Ring of wealth scroll, tradable in the TP.
- Have about lvl 60+ combat and 5m gp: Collect bloody keys from the wildy. They sell for 5.5m ea. use ::risk to see that you risk at least 5m gp when collecting them. I've probably collected over a hundred of these in the past because the time-investment (2-3 minutes) is so small for the reward.
Moneymakers with skill requirements:
- Have about ~87+ Sailing: -> Ironwood planks 325k ea, Rosewood planks 850k ea, cotton yarn (6k-7k ea), bolts of cotton 2-3k ea (better to make yarn than bolts rn), Dragon nails 16.5m per 15 nails, dragon metal sheet 18m ea. Essentially anything that can help people make an amazing and awesome endgame boat. I was averaging about 2 dragon metal sheets per slayer task.
- High smithing -> Making rune nails or any other nail. Smelting Cupronickle bars for 250k ea (copper + nickel) at the blast furnace or bronze bars for 180k ea with shop-purchased ore.
- High Cooking -> Using the new cooking npc to cook everyone's raw loot, noted. Requires chefs hat, elite lumbridge and elite varrack diaries.
- High Hunter -> Catching dragon implings for 400k-650k ea. After 50+ hunter rumors, cooking raw moonlight antelope meat because it's the best food in the game until Sailing fish come out. I bought mine for 3m ea for TOB.
- Twin flame staff is climbing in price and is at 128m ea. Meant for early/new players, not veteran/endgame players.
- Best of the 3 main wildy bosses right now is vet'tion (calvarion) for the 100m voidwaker blade. Very social activity. The more; the merrier.
- Have high runecrafting: -> Sunfire runes, searing pages, wrath runes, aether runes.
- High woodcutting: -> Turning regular logs into regular planks at the Woodcutting guild sawmill at ::wc.
- Have high thieving: -> 2x blood shards from Vyres with rogues outfit. Currently 100m for every 2 blood shards. There's also some odd thieving chests with sailing that drop frags for unique potions that probably no one is selling any of yet. 0 armadyl brew and 0 extended stamina sellers right now just to name a couple. For those you can have a monopoly on.
- High Herblore: Turning ranging potions and super combats into divine. Anti venoms, Extended anti-fires. Selling expensive items from the Mastering Mixology mini game. I would pay a couple hundred mill for a Potion Storage.
PVM:
- Kill skotizo whenever he spawns in the wildy. That's typically a quick ~12-16m when you sell that emblem to a pker. A pker will turn it into a tier 10 emblem worth 50m. After you kill it the first time, it will drop some teleport shards. They are a 1-click teleport to find him again instantly next time he spawns
- Slayer is generally a surprisingly bad moneymaker, unless you $50 donor skip for the task you want, because everyone else does slayer. If you unlock Vyres to AFK at then it's not as bad.
- Services: Helping Ironmen get drops. Typically you kill a boss together and for every item they get, they pay you a little more than what the drop can be insta-bought for. Benefit: you both get the drops twice as fast.
Prices are significantly influenced by players (mostly ironmen in Alora) that dump everything but the mega rare from a given boss or raid, saturating the market, to pay for their boosters.
- A great early game mini game is The Gauntlet. A Bow of Faerdhinen (inactive) or Enhanced crystal seed is ~400m-ish. It's excellent because you dont need any gear; you can just go in naked. Just type ::gauntlet and you're there!
- DOOM of Mokhaiotl might be the best solo-player moneymaker in Alora right now if you are good at it. Treads have climbed in price from 1.2b to 1.6 perhaps 1.8b since zero are even in stock right now. confliction gaunts 300m+, eye of yak 350m+. You really need at least 1 tormented synapse to do it efficiently. You do not lose any items if you die at Doom; you just spawn outside with all of your gear. Same with DT2 bosses.
- If you have friends, Nex, Yama, and Tob are pretty good money. Most Nex and Yama drops are 1b+. If you score a Dragon Hunter wand from Huey, I'll buy it for a few hundred mil to farm frost dragons or lava worms with. For Nex budget setup, just go with arma bow, ruby bolts, elite void, twisted buckler or odium ward and you're good to rock and roll. --If you had lots of GP and a tbow, you wouldn't need to read this guide.
- Chambers of Xeric: Tbow is now 23.2% more common from COX but only declined in price from 3-3.3b to 2.7-3b (about 10%). In my opinion it's the best weapon in Alora, better than a Scythe or Shadow. But certainly other people value scythe and shadow more. A shadow sold for 4.3b today and scythe is probably 5.2-5.4b because TOB can't really be solo'd.
- DT2 bosses. Leviathan's ring and vardorvis's ring sell for 1.2b ea. Completed soul reaper axe sold today for 3.3b. Virtus isn't worth much though and these drops are rare.
- Some people might tell you to go kill Graardor or Kreeara but their drops are only worth 30m-40m at most. The real money is in the drops worth hundreds of mills or over a bil.
- Nightmare of Ashihama drops are worth bank. A harmonized orb would probably sell for 1.2b in about a week or two due to frost dragons. But it's also called a Nightmare for a reason. Most of the time you'll get essentially nothing.
Other:
- The unsexy but common route is P2W. $100 bonds sell for 1.8b +/- 0.3b. "$400" rank tickets also sell for 1.8-1.9b so both are similar. $10 bonds sell the fastest of anything, so it's usually better to buy 10 $10 bonds than 1 $100 bond. $600 rank ticket (which costs $150), is harder to sell because it can't be listed on the trading post, so it's usually worth less gp per dollar than a $400 ticket. People just seem to like their ranks and bonds in smaller bite-sized increments. $10 bonds almost always insta-sell for $165-$170m ea. During Holidays you can typically get 25% better deals. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up next!
-Look for ideas I haven't mentioned. The best moneymakers are ones no one else is doing. When more than one person does a particular moneymaker, it stops being the best (or even great) anymore.
Poor moneymakers:
- Clue scrolls: Ironman cloggers have ruined this moneymaker for you. 3rd age is usually worth 100m-200m ea. Not 4b-8b.
- Cerberus: I wonder how orbs so rare can be worth so little!
- Araxxor: It was better when nox hallys were worth 280m+. Now they're sitting around 100m ea and you need 3 drops for it.
- Selling black masks for 14m ea. They're as rare a Nex drop!
- Chopping magic logs for 500 gp ea - even Oak logs are worth more than 100x more at 50k gp ea. Only maples are worth less than magics, because maples come from Kingdom of Miscellania by the tens of thousands.
- Anything involving the Slayer point shop or the daily task shop
- Anything involving Barrows. Especially since the new barrows pet was added.
- Anything involving Daggonoth rings. Because the dag kings are one of the best for donor-task-skipping for easy slayer points.
- Anything involving prayer bones.
- Making ultra compost - I tried this method once because I didn't want to pay 500k ea but it took almost a year to sell it.
- Anything camped by pet hunters or cloggers.
This comment is long and dense, like a badly formatted essay, but that's a feature not a bug. For all of these moneymakers, less competition is better for you. Some people are still level 1 at reading but not you dear reader.
TL;DR: ::Vote every 12 hours and then sell jokes for GP.
*This post will not be edited to update prices when they change.
