Hey guys,

 

Before we get into this content poll, I'd like to let you guys know that there's a large update on the way that I'm excited to release, and to apologize for this one taking so long. It's a combination of some circumstances which slowed down development time, but also the fact that the update is quite large. Nonetheless, we're almost there and I'm sure that you won't be disappointed with it, and that you'll all find something to enjoy in this upcoming update!

 

For this content poll we're only looking into one piece of content that may be added to the wilderness if it passes: Wilderness Supply Chests. These chests would be added with the intention of boosting wilderness activity a bit more (along with some other updates we've got on the way).

 

Here's how it works:

  • Wilderness Supply Chests spawn every few hours in a random location around the wilderness, allowing the first player who opens the chest to receive some loot.
    • ​The chests will not spawn as often as the bloody key spawns, which are every 45-75 minutes. The chests will likely spawn once every 2-3 hours.
    • The loot received would be similar to Bloody keys, largely wilderness related items, but with some new additions.
      • Essentially, it would be ~2x the loot of a Bloody key.
    • There will be a global announcement whenever the chest spawns (a few minutes earlier), as well as possibly an announcement for the name of the player who looted it.
    • The player who opens the chest may also be instantly skulled.

okay this is epic 8-)

also put them in single please lmfao. everything else like skotizo & most of the bloody key spawns are in multi. 

give players incentive to go areas like single strip, chins, mb, pirate hut, etc

Would have liked to see a preview of what could be potential loots in there, but I like the idea regardless. Also, GIM Bloody Keys loc?

i think its a good idea to maybe add an amount that u have to risk before u can actually open the chests. otherwise naked players gonna open the chest with a chance for good items while they risk nothing.

Looks amazing. Looking forward to this. If wilderness would get more activity, I might actually be able to learn how to pk again so I can finish these Wilderness achievements  :lol:

Horror knows what's up. My thoughts exactly.

Sounds so good!! I'd much rather see "The wilderness crate has been looted!" or similar as opposed to "Player A has looted the wilderness crate!" though. We have enough player globals in my opinion. I can see this being a great addition. Stoked for the next update too. :)

Wont make me happy with another wildy chest. Bloody chest is fine. If you wanna make wildy more active update the pkp shop and make pking worth it.

This is definitely a great incentive for more players to go into the wilderness. I like the idea that @Horror implemented for it being in single combat zone. It might give HCIM players a small nudge to try their grit out in the wilderness knowing it would be single-zone.

It is hard to judge without knowing the drops, furthermore we should know wether how powerfull ironmen pkp shop will be.

I mean the point is to get more pkers to alora and in the wildy, I am not sure you are targeting the right kind of people with this update.

 

While this topic is being discussed, stop people from 1 iteming skotizo and vennenatis, atleast make them put on welfare gear.

Would like some idea of what is in stock to recieve from those chests. I don't ever go for bloody key spawns as i don't feel they're worth it. Don't really want to vote for or against content that I know little to nothing about.

More wilderness content never hurt anyone, plus this may actually incentivise players to go into the wilderness, in turn potentially expanding the pking community. As @Horror stated, single areas could give incentive for players to explore more parts of the wilderness, though a few multis couldn't hurt either since the loot would contain 2x that of bloody key. Definitely support this, though!

I support this 100% but would like to see it in Singles instead of multi like some of the bloody key spawns and I would also like to see if there would be a certain amount of risk you would have to be able to loot the chest cause some people would just loot it without a risk and they could get a big reward for 0 risk.

Voted yes to everything except allowing ironmen to open it because that opens a thousand other questions about balancing the drop table.

I think its a great idea. +1 on the single areas. Would also like to see this repolled with what could be had in it to make it more viable.

This was a super cool thing that they added in the DMM finals on OSRS, and it would be awesome to see them on the server!  It would be nice if Ironmen could access this, but It makes sense if we wouldn't have access.  Either way I really hope this is added to the game!

It'd be interesting to see if you could add some sort of AoE check which checks for player deaths. That way, the chest could be configured so that it can only be opened if there has been some bloodshed nearby. It helps encourage player versus player and helps prevent randoms opening said chest.

 

I imagine it'd be easily to implement another line of code alongside the distribution of PKP which assigns a variable to the player for a thirty-second period or so which then grants the ability to open the chest. I.e. you must kill a player within the last thirty seconds before the chest can be opened.
