#58093 Host Rules

Posted by Zoo on 28 February 2017 - 07:16 PM

While gambling is the easiest way to make money, I think the rules should be universal (both internally and externally with regard to Alora). If BlackJack is a certain way on most other servers, the rules should carry over to Alora as should the 55x2.

Standards keep everything in line and I can assure you that they would make the staff's job a lot easier.

Disagree.

Playing a game that is 55x2, 60x2, 62x2, 75x3, whatever it may be, thats fine. because the better is seeing exactly how small the odds are of them winning really is. BUT!

Blackjack, is Blackjack, is Blackjack.... There is absolutely no reason to add any rules to black jack... Hosts have a huge advantage in BJ already. Adding rules makes no sense to me. THATS COMING FROM A FELLOW HOST.

Hosts should be able to decide their "XX"x2 game, but BlackJack needs to stay blackjack...

I will be posting a long in-depth thread here soon about gambling as a whole. keep a look out.

Welcome back to another exciting issue of the Alora Newspaper!

Since our last newspaper we have seen quite alot of work from our founder Omicron

Raids:

Alora became the first server to have fully functional Raids working, more info about that can be found in the following thread with alot of information here.

Uber Donator Rank:
User's who have donated $2500 or more will see this amazing new rank.
An enhancement to the Legendary donator benefits, with two useful new benefits:
5 items vs. the usual 3 from a raids reward chest
Only 10% of your points are lost on death in a raids session rather than 33% for normal players

Donator Shop additions:
Dragon warhammer
Prayer scroll ((You can use this to unlock any one of the new prayers(Preserve, rigour augury)).
Dragon harpoon

Voting Changes:
Voting points have been increased to 25 instead of 20 as there are now 5 toplists to vote on rather than 4 (4 minimum to get an auth)

Fire Max cape added:
The new Fire Max Cape featuring the moving lava has been added.

Giant mole:

Head to Falador Park to enter his cave by climbing into a mole hill:
Defeat this burrowing boss for a chance at the never seen before Baby mole pet!
The combat is quite simple, but the Giant mole will frequently burrow within the cave and end up on another side
Giant mole Slayer task has been added to the Hard tasks
The Giant mole will also show up in your boss kill counts / time records

More updates:
For a complete list of all the update please check out this thread.

We've had some new updates to the rules which will be seen in RED.

10. 3rd Party Software

We will not tolerate cheating of ANY kind as we know that it causes unfair advantages over other members that are attempting to play the server through fairness. We will do our best to enforce this and such things includes auto-clicking, cheat clients etc., that help the member gain EXP, cash or other various way of helping them better their experience either faster or unfairly.

a. Autoclicking: First Offence - 5 hour ban | Second Offence - 24 hour ban | Third Offence - Permanent Ban
b. Botting Clients: First Offence - Permanent Ban | Second Offence - IP-Ban
• Playing on multiple accounts at once while participating in the same activity is prohibited (PK'ing on two accounts or more at the same time is allowed unless one is aiding their-self in any way, such as using a different spellbook, multi-fighting, etc.)

11. Player Vs. Player (PvP)

Alora is not held responsible for members who have lost, disconnected etc., while in the wilderness. Listed below are the few rules on Alora regarding the wilderness specifically.

a.PVP-Farming will be an automatic permanent ban with no chance of appeal. Second Offence will be an IP-Ban

b. X-Logging from the server is a banable offence, as this causes an unfair advantage for other members of the community.

c. Luring players into the wilderness will be an automatic permanent ban with no chance of appeal. Second Offence will be an IP-Ban

d. Ragging will not be tolerated in Edgeville on Alora as it negatively affects our PvP community overall. Our definition of a ragger is one who consistently attacks other players without true intentions of killing them as they purely want to prevent them from participating in PvP. First offence will result in a  5 hour jail. Second offence will be a 24 hour ban. Third offence will result in a permanent ban. All ragging reports must be reported with video proof.

19. Yell

a. Advertising a clan (gambling) through yell will be strictly dealt with and an automatic mute in-game will be given after having already received a warning.

b. Using different colors or crown effects through yell is strictly forbidden.

c. Trolling on yell is prohibited as it only causes frustration for both players and staff. This includes luring over yell, fake giveaways, etc.

 This week we interviewed Sheep

Jedzio: Well first off thanks for taking time out of the Barn(Get it, cause your name is sheep hahahahaha) for this interview. First question is, Now that you recently got promoted to Server Moderator after quite sometime, how does the transition from Server Support to Server Moderator feel?

Sheep: It's different, it feels like a lot more responsibility. I am just very happy to be a server moderator in this community and I'm very excited to help everyone out even more.

Jedzio:  That's great, anything you'd like to say to the community regarding what to expect from you?

Sheep:You can expect that I will be more serious, because I take this role very serious. Of course I'll still be the same Sheep you all love.  So just expect the same as you always did but a bit more, let's say professional.

Jedzio: Awesome man, thanks for taking some time to answer these questions.

Sheep: No problem man, always love to read your newspapers.

#48770 [1/30/2017] Updated Raids mechanics/bug fixes

Posted by Omicron on 30 January 2017 - 07:08 AM

Hey guys,

Another quick update to improve the raids experience from what we've seen so far. There has definitely been an improvement since the last update, but a few things still needed to be fixed. Mainly, your points weren't affecting your loot rate from the reward chest enough. We've reworked the mechanics so that your points play into your reward a bit more, as well as adding a few new ways to get points. Additionally, it seems that with small teams it is difficult to get through Olm without pots. For this reason, we've made it so that you can go back into the dungeon from the final skilling room(where it would previously block you) and pick up potions and food off the ground if need be! You'll also find that the dungeon is now "scaled" in terms of enemies' hitpoints, and Olm has been slightly weakened.

  • Hitpoints of enemies now scale as the party size increases, as it is far too easy to clear a raid with 20+ people.
    • Approximately 5% more HP per player
    • With the above update, the default HP of all of the mobs within raids have been reduced to account for the change
      • All default HP reduced by 20% EXCEPT for:
        • Ice demon(no reduction)
        • Baby muttadile(only a 15% reduction)
        • Vasa's crystals(25% reduction)
      • This means that a 1-3 person raid is slightly easier(lower HP)
        • A 4 person raid would have the same exact HP as you have all been used to the past 2 days
        • Anything larger than 4 people will be subject to higher hp than you are used to, at a 5% hp / player rate
  • You can now turn back into the dungeon from the final skilling room.
    • This will allow you to go back to loot potions and other useful drops within the dungeon should you need it to fight Olm.
      • For example, if you were almost fully stocked on supplies at the Deathly ranger/mager room, you would miss out on a ton of supplies dropped by them and could not have turned back to loot them if you died at Olm.
  • If you died at the exact same instant as Olm, you would be teleported to the start of the dungeon. This has been corrected.
  • Fixed ironmen issue -- they could not loot if they did not deal top damage. I apologize for this issue, as it should have been fixed last update but a component was overlooked!
  • A bug where Vasa would get stuck at the crystal and be unattackable should no longer occur.
  • Olm combat changes:
    • Olm's attack bonus will no longer be as reliant on the team size. There shouldn't be a huge difference in his strength.
      • This is due to the fact that special frequency / # of phases already increase the difficulty tremendously.
    • Lessened prayer drop rate
      • Getting hit by a lightning bolt will now only have a 50% chance to drop your protection prayers rather than 100%
      • Olm's "sphere" attack will now have a 33% chance of dropping protection prayers rather than 50%
    • Olm's main attack (which he shoots from his mouth) will now have a chance to miss players in the room
      • He now has a ~20-25% chance to miss any player in the room rather than 100% success rate. In a solo party, you will simply not see his head do an attack animation. In a team, you may see him only hit 3/4 players (or less) in the party.
      • His main attack is also *very slightly* scaled in damage based on team size, but it is always quite consistent.
  • Rewards changes:
    • Loot rates are now much more reliant on the points you have earned. Try not to lose your points!
    • This way, the players who have earned many points will have a far better chance at loot, whereas players with low points will have more trouble getting loot. Nonetheless, it is still possible for players with 0 points to get the rarest items, even the Olmlet!
    • Pure essence will now be given noted, as intended
  • Points changes:
    • Keystone crystal now gives 500 points to the player who picks it up.
    • Lighting braziers / filling the trough now gives 50 points each time instead of 30
      • Braziers can now only hold a maximum of 5 + (teamSize) kindling to prevent people from point farming
    • Skilling points: (**Limited to a maximum of 2.5k per player, per session, to avoid farming)
      • Cutting down 1 kindling will earn you 15 points
      • Lighting 1 kindling will earn you 15 points
      • Catching 1 fish will earn you 20 points
      • Cooking 1 fish/bat will earn you 15 points
      • Catching bats will now earn you 30 points each
  • Sapling trees now last longer before turning into stumps
    • The previous health of the tree has been doubled so that players in large teams have an easier time gathering kindling.
  • Fixed fishing net spawns in Corrupted scavenger room
  • You can now type ::shake to disable the camera shaking at the Olm stage. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary toggle that does not save on logout, so make sure to disable it before heading into the boss room!
    • You can type ::shake again to re-enable it.

We're getting closer and closer to perfecting it, and I feel that we're nearly there! Enjoy :)

Regards,

Omicron

#48610 Staff Update 30-01-2017

Posted by Blank on 29 January 2017 - 06:15 PM

Hey guys,

We've got some pretty big changes with the staff team this week.
First off I would like the start with someone who has really given his all to and for Alora, maybe even too much to the point where it had a critical impact on him, our former administrator F 8. First I'd like to thank him a ton for what he has given us and all the time he has poured into our server. Some of you may under appreciate our administration team, hey maybe even I under appreciate them sometimes due to all the work they do for us. F 8 truly has done an amazing job as an administrator. He's helped me with quite a bit of administrative duties, along with hosting our weekly events! He's given a lot of time to testing Raids(along with other people) trying to make sure, you guys, would get the best experience possible. With all that being said it is with great sadness that F 8 has decided that he needs to take a step back from the scene as it was getting unhealthy(you can read more about it in his farewell). We personally wish him nothing but the best and personally I hope that he does return to us as he was a role model for our players, and our staff. Once again we'd like to that him for everything he's put into Alora.

Moving into other staff updates
Jare has been promoted to administrator. He'll be helping me with certain tasks, as well as quality checks, and regular administration duties.

Sux has been promoted to server support.

Volta has resigned from forum moderator, this was quite some time ago, but I forgot to make a staff update for it. Once again nothing but the best wishes.

Im Combat 3 has been promoted to server support, hopefully this takes some strain away from the Australian time zone.

I've had a talk with Nick and we both, came to the mutual agreement that it would be best to step down from forum moderator as his duties currently lie elsewhere. We wish him the best.

Xrapierx has been promoted to server support.

Flipper has been promoted to server support.

Mystogan has been promoted to server moderator.

Beproud (Elvemage) has come back as a server moderator by finishing his duties for school.

Think there might be a follow up staff update later today (today for EU & AU) tmw for America. We'll see what I come up with certainly some restructure coming about, but that's it for now.

Accepted, great suggestion. There is clearly support, and would continue to be.

Your suggestion has been accepted.
