#405601 How to check your Ping on Alora

Posted by iZuk on 06 August 2021 - 06:36 PM

~The guide no one asked for, wanted, or needed~

Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a short guide on how to check your ping for Alora.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is Ping/Latency?

As most of you know, there is a wide variety of worlds to choose from on OSRS, each with their own respective server. Different servers can be hosted from just about anywhere, allowing players from every part of the globe to have a server (world) with potentially lower latency (otherwise referred to as ping). For those of you who do not know, latency in a nutshell is just the amount of time it takes from when you perform an action in game, to the time you get a response. For example, just clicking on the ground to move. You click 1 tile away, and it takes about 2 seconds for your character to begin moving. This response time is your latency. Latency and Ping are often considered the same thing. While similar, they are not identical.. but we're not going to get into that.

When playing Runescape, people often experience high ping in some worlds which may be hosted far away from your location. For example, I live in Florida, and I have terrible ping in Australian worlds on OSRS.

Higher ping = more delay. Lower ping = shorter delay

Now, all of that said, you can check your ping specific to each and every world on OSRS using your Command Prompt on your computer... But did you know you can do the same for Alora?

This may not be a very necessary tool, or one that's even utilized often, but it could prove useful anyone who may be experience lag spikes, or long delays to their actions in game, and they would like to rule out if it is server lag, or just their ping/latency.

From what I have been told, Alora has 3 different hosts, and you automatically connect to the one nearest to you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1:

Begin by going to your search bar, and typing "Command Prompt"

dFBWSWa.png

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2:

Once your Command Prompt is open, just type "ping alora.io"

After doing so you should see something that looks like this (minus the blurred parts)

136gw1m.png

You will see your minimum, maximum, and average ping for Alora (at that time). Obviously this varies from person to person, as your ping is the amount of time it takes for your computer to send the input signal to the computer the server host is on, and then back... So distance plays a role in that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this guide will more than likely not be used often, if ever... but I just figured it is a good tool to have if ever needed by anyone.

Thank you for your time,

iZuk

#403095 Tree Gnome Village Railing + Elkoy

Posted by iZuk on 15 July 2021 - 09:28 PM

What is your suggestion?:

Coding in the railing where you can pass through at Tree Gnome Village, as well as coding Elkoy to take you to the end of the maze.

rHELDGa.png

g3upPFx.png

Is this in OSRS?:

Yes

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:

Not that I've seen

How would this benefit Alora?:

Pros:

Fastest tele to fruit tree patch outside Tree Gnome Village

Fastest tele to clue step located on the peninsula near patch

Cons:

Not super important, but just a QoL so will prolly be pushed to the back of the list if accepted.

#398803 Proposed Runelite Plugins

Posted by iZuk on 31 May 2021 - 10:39 PM

What is your suggestion?:

I have several Runelite Plugins I feel could be beneficial to a good majority of players. The player base of Alora is quite diverse, and adding the following could help fill the needs/desires of some players who enjoy optimal customization when it comes to playing on their favorite server.

Please consider the following;

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Runelite Plugin - GPU

9G39te6.png

People from all walks of life play on Alora, and everyone has their own preferences. What may be eye catching, and aesthetically pleasing to one individual, may not cater to another's taste. This is especially true when it comes to Runescape's graphics, and overall feel for the world surrounding the player. The introduction of the HD graphics feature to Alora is a stunning upgrade from Old School's rather lackluster standard graphics. From it's rough, jagged edges on that hot range sitting in the corner of the room, to the eye sores they call NPCs, the HD feature has proven to add more depth, and beauty to everything and everyone who inhabits Gielinor. However, the look and feel of an HD client can be a bit too overwhelming for some, myself included. The standard graphics provide that sensational rush of nostalgia, yet always feel like they're lacking in one way or another. I present to you, the GPU Runelite Plugin. I'm sure many are familiar with this plugin if you have or currently do play on OSRS. It is a perfect happy medium for those looking to enhance their graphical experience, without being too overwhelmed with all of the drastic changes the HD feature provides. The GPU plugin offers enhanced 'Draw Distance', allowing you to see further into the landscape, providing you with a more immersive feel. 'Anti Aliasing' helps to smoothen out those rough edges, and rounds off archways, helmets, and much more! 'Anisotropic Filtering' helps to better enhance said textures at any and every angle! A toggleable option for 'Bright Textures' helps to eliminate some of that gloomy feel some objects and areas have, when it's just not fitting! There is also an option for 'Colorblindness Correction' which helps to cater to some unique players who are colorblind. This plugin is an absolute godsend to those who are looking for a crisper viewing pleasure, without all of the severely enhanced graphics of the HD feature. Below I have provided some comparisons of some areas with and without the GPU plugin enabled. Some differences are subtle I will admit, while others are quite enticing.

2) Runelite Plugin - Menu Entry Swapper ADD ON

PLlhyY3.png

These two features are already present in the Official Runelite client, however seem to be missing from the Menu Entry Swapper drop down list on Alora's Runelite Client. The two features I am referring to are the "Bank Deposit", and "Bank Withdraw" options. What these two options do is allows you to deposit/withdraw a fixed amount of a specific item when SHIFT clicked. A lot like how the shift click to buy/sell items to a shop works, which is currently present in the current Alora Runelite Client. With this, you will no longer have to be bothered with right clicking, and selecting "Deposit All/Withdraw All" on that stack of blood runes anymore. Nor will you have to manually click the "All" feature in the bank window itself, and later forget to change it back, thus forcing you to withdraw 17 knives on accident, when you only needed ONE for that pesky web on your way to the Wilderness Resource Center! These two features I have used for a long time now, and it feels absolutely foreign not being able to shift click items to and from my bank. It makes gearing up for that Alchemical Hydra trip, or depoting your fat sack of loot almost 3x faster! It is very much a QoL feature, one that I believe everyone should, and should be able to utilize! It is customizable to include any amount you'd normally be able to choose from in the bank interface itself. From "Withdraw 5" to "Withdraw All" to even "Deposit 'x'".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) Runelite Plugin - Custom Left Click Drop

FrRboPV.png

I have saved this one for last, solely due to the fact that it is not directly native to the Official Runelite Client, but is easily found in the integrated Plugin Hub within the client itself. This plugin is relatively simple. Don't feel like having to hold shift every time you need to drop that inventory of iron ore you just power mined? Can't be asked to use the ::empty command, or are you holding something extra in your inventory that you don't exactly feel like losing forever? Well then this plugin is for you! It allows you to add to a list of items you normally would never want, nor use, and allows you to just click on them without being forced to hold shift every time. Now, I know having to hold shift to drop something is not much of an inconvenience, but why not make your life just a tad bit easier, and reserve some of those brain cells for your long Zulrah grind later on? Now, as stated above, this plugin is indeed found within the Plugin Hub, so I'm not 100% certain on whether this can or even would be added.

Is this in OSRS?:

My first two suggested plugins are native to the Official Runelite Client, and the third being found in the integrated Plugin Hub.

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:

If any of them have, I don't see them anywhere, both on the forums, nor in game. So let's hope I'm not making myself look like a total twat. :D

How would this benefit Alora?:

I have provided what I believe to be adequate reasoning for my suggestion in each description of their respective plugins.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whether any of these proposed plugins are accepted or not, I would definitely love to hear some feedback about how everyone feels about any of these! I just kindly ask you to keep it respectful, and mature. Thank you to everyone who has taken time out of their day to read my poorly structed suggestion list lol.

#396509 A proper Introduction

Posted by iZuk on 07 May 2021 - 10:03 AM

I'm always really bad at starting these, so here goes nothing..

Oiii, I'm iZuk! My momma gave me the name Michael at birth, but later in my life just started calling me "Shithead"... so take your pick. :)

I'm 25, about to be 26 in June, and I've lived in Florida my entire life. How I haven't melted yet is beyond me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not so fun facts about me:

  • I'm an Amazon delivery driver, and I work on average 10-12 hour days, 5 days a week. Summer has just begun, and as of writing this, I have had heat stroke twice in the past 2 weeks, how fun! (P.S. Y'all be ordering way to many packages. Ya wallet is screaming for help)
  • I got married July 13th, 2019 to my best friend in the world. Her and I have been together for 6 years now. This year we will be celebrating our second year wedding anniversary, and we will finally be taking our long overdue honeymoon. We will be heading to Sedona, AZ to both see her family (that's where she's from), and to go cliff jumping, hiking, cave exploring, etc. Very excited.
  • I have played Runescape since about 2008. Played until EoC ruined the game (for me at least. No hate to the RS3 players. <3) I then quit for a few years, being young, and ruining my life with my gosh dang shenanigan's. Some years later, around 2013 or so I started diving into the RSPS scene. Played on tons and tons of servers, and even got a staff position on a few. One of the most notable was iKov (it was brief because I quit shortly after). I've always liked 317 servers, they're the best imo. Then when Old School was released, I decided to give it a shot, bc of the whole nostalgia effect. Started the second week of Old School release, and have been playing ever since. Got hacked in January of 2020, and quit for a whole year after losing a 1.5b bank (I was ignorant and thought the 2FA was just inconvenient). Recently returned in the past few months, and have had more fun rebuilding than I ever did before. Although I've been enjoying it, I'm starting to get burnt out a bit. Decided to try out some RSPS again, and welp... here we are! Already loving it here, and plan on staying for awhile. I've seen Alora around the Runelocus site for years, but never gave it a try. I know, I know. Big dummy head I am.
  • I genuinely enjoy helping people. If you need help with something, and I feel I'm capable of helping you, then I'll try my best to do so <3
  • I'm a huge forums whore. Idk what it is about forums, but they're just so aesthetic to me. I do enjoy making guides, however I'm sure all the guides that are needed have already been made for here lol. Who knows, may make something in the future.
  • I'm about 70% covered in tattoos. None on my face tho, that'll never happen... at least that's what I tell my mom *wink* My wife is also getting pretty covered... Her father thinks it's my fault..... and he's right >:)
  • I cant take anything seriously. Everything must be made into a joke. Everything. My life's a joke, so might as well make everything else one too :D
  • I am a meme god.
  • I can do that thing with my tongue that you like ;)
  • BabySharkDooDooDooDoo

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, That's about it. I'm not the most interesting person on the face of the Earth, but that's okay. Because then too many people would want to talk to me.. and that's not it chief.

If you ever wanna hangout, or do some PvMing together, lemme know. I'm REALLY good at canceling plans :)

I've already met quite a few great people in game, and look forward to meeting more.

P.S., Nice Serp Sulleste

P.S.S., Here's a picture of my wife & I the night before our wedding.

Just started about 6 days ago... and already got the number 1 pet I wanted.
