#429039 Tileman, what has been done so far.

Posted by Tileman Mode on 19 April 2022 - 04:11 PM

This post corresponds to ;;topic 78214 which explains what Tileman Mode is and what I intend on doing with my account. The following is an explanation and trail of what I have accomplished so far.

I started off in seers village, a basic toolset in hand and 2 tiles to my name. I unlocked my first tile by teleporting to Seers, and my second tile by walking one square south to my first tree. I ground out that tree until I was able to move around seers and make it to the oaks, and eventually maples. I spent a lot of time during my first day just grinding out tiles and when I was fully ready I made my way down into Catherby to start my fishing grind. I amassed a sizeable amount of lobsters and tuna and made my way back up to Seers where I made another turn and began spending tiles on my journey south, toward Ardougne where I unlocked thieving. I spent about an hour thieving cakes and silk stalls to be able to steal from the Master Farmer located just a bit north of Ardougne. With seeds in tow I made my way to my first farming patch, growing everything I could for experience. Luckily for me there was a cow pen nearby my first farming area. I spent 100 tiles in order to teleport to the crafting guild to tan the leathers I had gotten so that I may begin crafting. I crafted my first set of ranged armor and ran into another dilemma, with no copper or tin ore deposits within a workable distance I spent another 100 tiles in order to teleport to the donator zones which has been my source of ores since. I've used everything to craft arrows and that has been my main source of combat since I've started the account. I also used the donator zone to get my first slayer task from Steve, unlucky, it was rock crabs. I decided to spend tiles and used a couple hundred of them to walk up from Seers into the Fremennik Provinces to unlock Rock Crabs. I spent another 100 tiles in order to teleport up to the chaos fanatic, making my way to the chaos altar in order to get high enough prayer for protect from magic so that I can do Monkey Madness. I am currently settled down for a bit, gaining experience and training my stats for questing, debating on the next move for my account.

I am getting used to the forums and will eventually figure out a better way to add images to my posts as I am not 100% certain how to make that aspect work yet :)

#428952 Tileman in Alora?

Posted by Tileman Mode on 18 April 2022 - 07:00 PM

Hello all, I am a bit late to do this but I originally had no intention of making progress updates for this account. It started out after watching Settled's videos on his take of Tileman Mode:  .

After having multiple people spot me and ask about what I'm doing, and then suggesting that I make videos / progress logs I have decided to come here. But I am inept at making videos so I will try to settle with making some updates here now and then.

If you haven't seen Tileman Mode videos on youtube here is a brief explanation: Tileman Mode is a non-canon sub gamemode for ironmen that restricts the account to single game tiles in the game, with every 1,000 experience unlocking another game tile to move to. The experience restrictions can vary by the kind of account you choose because of the different rates of experience you can find on Alora. I found that sticking with the original 1k per tile was fitting for gamemode I chose: Elite Ironman

Alora lacks in some interaction in the game which more or less can't be help, and those interactions limit progress and restriction to areas you would normally be able to enter in real runescape, thusly I have made a sub rule to the game mode: That being the ability to teleport to a new area at the cost of 100 tiles that have already been unlocked. When you first create your new account you are also restricted to starting in edgeville, at a bank booth. That would not allow you to progress at all because there is no possible experience to gain, so I let myself go to the thieving stall, unlock my first 5 tiles through thieving, and buy a basic set of tools from the shop since there is very little to no way to get these items in Alora without considerable effort. One last leisure I've given is that both banks, and minigames are free roam with no tile cost to move around in.

There is a plugin that exists for Runelite called Tileman Mode which can automate unlocking tiles and is customizable to the amount of experience you want until you unlock another tile. This plugin is not currently supported in Alora and may never be, so I have been unlocking all my tiles Manually, depending on Runelite to never delete them. If that happened that'd be a wipe :)

Current goals for the account: General skill leveling with an end game goal of maxing. Bossing is TBD

Current stats for the account: https://prnt.sc/LKy21si8SqZw

If you have any suggestions please feel free to respond to the post or pm me in game :)
