Has anyone here ever had a surgical operation/procedure? If so, what was it for?

I’m about 3 months away from turning 31, and tomorrow morning I’ll be having my very first surgery - getting my tonsils and adenoids removed. I’m not too worried about the surgery itself, but I am a bit anxious about the recovery afterwards. I’m expecting a lot of throat pain, general aches, and fatigue.

There’s also a long list of things I won’t be able to do while recovering... Certain foods and drinks are off-limits, and I won’t be able to smoke either. Now, that part is going to be tough. I’ve been told I’ll need to be on bed rest for about 2 weeks, and like most people, when I’m bored, I tend to want to eat or smoke, neither of which I’ll be able to do.

I’m really hoping I’ll feel well enough to sit at my computer to game or watch Netflix, just to keep my mind occupied during recovery.

I recently returned to Alora after being MIA for several years, but I haven’t had a chance to really get back into the game yet since December was incredibly busy for me. I’m hoping the break from work will give me a good opportunity to start playing again.

I’m a returning player who was active from 2017 to 2020. I never really left... I just drifted away casually, but kept lurking the forums now and then. I’ve been around RS since 2004 and RSPS since 2007, though I haven’t been too active in recent years. Lately, I’ve been trying to find a little time to escape reality and game again.

I recently got back into OSRS as a casual player and set myself the goal of getting the quest cape. I’m currently at 168/175 quests, so getting there slowly but surely.

Even though I enjoy OSRS, I always end up thinking back to the golden days of the RSPS scene and all the good memories and friends I made, which is probably why I always find myself coming back. Alora still gives me that nostalgic feeling that no other RSPS really does nowadays. Crazy how long Alora has been thriving. Props to Omicron and the team!

Anyhoo, I figured I’d stop lurking as a guest, make a fresh account, and join the community again. I plan to hop back into the game once I hit my OSRS goal.

I honestly can’t remember what my old usernames were, but I still recognise a lot of familiar names around here. Always great to see long-time, dedicated community members still active.
