#136742 [Suggestion] Official Alora Clans

Posted by Jedzio on 04 December 2017 - 04:41 PM

Ok so after seeing this thread: http://www.alora.io/...ra/#entry136675

An Idea came to mind. Where clans can buy in for their clan for "X" amount of coins. This purchase would grant them a player rank on forums unique to their clan that would be given to their clan members. This would include a userbar like the following:

tngge.png

How to distribute userbar after purchase:  The clan leader or higher ranking clan members could give a list of clan members to an Alora Administrator so they can add them to the users corresponding with that specific clan.

Clan Benefits:  Purchasing the official clan title would make the clan an "Official Alorian Clan." Which would grant them access to select ONE team cape. There are currently 50 in our cache so this shouldn't be much of a problem.

4413.png

Team cape would be limited to only be used by players that have the user-bar from the clan unlocked(pretty simply to do if done via rank). When in wilderness any clan member with the cape would appear as an orange dot instead of a purple. Barrage effects would not affect those with the clan team cape on, making barraging more useful for clan pking.

Future events?: If we get a couple official clans in the futures, maybe there can be "Alora clan events" such as pking\pvm events specifically for official clan with team prizes, ect. to boost the clanning aspect of the game.

This suggestion would boost clan activity, display something somewhat unique and serve as a money sink because of the clan admission fee.

Feel free to comment thoughts and or changes you'd make to this suggestion.

#136903 [12/5/17] Public house list, Revenant fixes/nerf & bug fixes!

Posted by Omicron on 05 December 2017 - 01:45 AM

Hey guys,

This update is mostly intended to slightly nerf the Revenant caves update as requested by many of you, as well as to patch some bigs related to it. Although not as large as the typical update due to the urgency of the fixes/nerf, I’ve also managed to squeeze in a few other fixes, and even added a Public house list which allows you to view which players’ houses are public!

  • Revenant cave updates:
    • The GP reward from Ancient artifacts has been cut by 40-50%.
      • Ancient emblem:
        • 1.5m
      • Ancient totem:
        • 2.5m
      • Ancient statuette:
        • 5m
      • These drops are frequent enough and the GP reward was too high.
    • Ancient artifacts are now also “structured” drops, meaning the rates at which each are obtained differ in difficulty. The Ancient emblem drop rate has not changed, though.
    • Respawn time increased:
      • Revenant respawn time has been slightly increased due to them respawning too quickly. This will force players to take on the Dragon/Knight when necessary.
    • Maximum healing:
      • The Revenants were able to heal indefinitely. This was a bug, as they should only be able to heal a maximum of 5 times as of this update.
  • Grotesque guardians fix:
    • Previously, you could be given a Slayer task to kill the guardians without having the required Slayer level. This has since been fixed. (Level 75 Slayer requirement)
  • Stepping stones fix:
    • If you are frozen, even at the square at which you can jump to the stepping stone, you won’t be able to hop to the stone.
      • This fix is important for the Revenant caves stepping stones.
    • A bug which caused players to walk off of the stones in the Revenant caves when attacked and to get stuck has been fixed.
  • Classic mode changes:
    • Pet insurance update:
      • The price to insure a pet for Classic has been reduced from 10m to 5m as this seemed a bit steep for classics.
        • The retrieval price of 1,000,000 GP has not changed, though.
    • Well of Goodwill boost:
      • Donating to the Well of Goodwill on a Classic account will now add double the GP amount to the well. For example, if you donate 10m, 20m gp will actually be added to the well.
        • This ONLY applies to GP, but not item donations.
  • Public house list:
    • This list will show you the names of the players whose houses are currently open to the public (as well as the # of public houses out of the total # of houses).
      • You’ll also see how many players are in each person’s house, as well as whether or not they own a gilded altar!
    • This list is right next to the Estate Agent / House portal.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • When praying to a god statue for a cape, the message “You pray to your god… but there is no response.” would be shown. This message is a bit vague, so we’ve added “You must already have a god cape.” afterwards for clarity.

#133601 [11/25/17] Classic Trading Post, Solo Raid updates, Bloody key spawns & m...

Posted by Omicron on 25 November 2017 - 05:12 AM

Hey guys,

Today’s update includes many necessary bug fixes and changes (such as with solo raids), as well as some content that we’ve seen requested for a long time (eg. Classic trading post). Additionally, a client update has been pushed with a highly useful QOL update which allows you to use your keyboard numbers to select dialogue options.

We’re also working on a few other pieces of big content in the background which will be out later this week, including Mage Arena 2 and possibly the Revenant caves if you guys would like to see this in Alora. Released just days ago on OSRS, the Revenant caves have been a bit controversial due to their drop table which has the possibility of hitting drops such as 100 x Dragon Plateskirts. Although rare, these drops are considered by some to be over-powered which is why we need to poll this update. Vote above and let us know what you think!

  • Classic Trading Post:
    • The long awaited Classic mode Trading post has been released!
      • You can now trade items with other Classic players. Of course, the items listed here are completely separate from the original Trading post. You won’t see normal player’s items, and vice versa.
        • Besides this, it will work exactly the same as the original system.
  • Raids changes:
    • Reward changes:
      • We’ve increased the drop rate for rare loot in Raids, across the board. You are now more likely to receive loot in all scenarios.
    • Bug fixes:
      • Fixed an uncommon bug in Raids that would break the session.
      • Fixed a bug with getting stuck on the tightrope in the final room.
      • Overload pickup bug:
        • If you tried to pick up an overload with a full inventory, and then made space for the overload it would tell you that you already picked one up. This has been fixed.
    • Solo raid changes:
      • Making solo raids more feasible has long been requested, so we’ve made some changes to appease players who are interested in raiding on their own:
        • The hitpoints of enemies in a solo raid are now up to 25% lower. This includes the hitpoints for Olm.
        • During the Vanguard phase, solo raiders are now allowed a bit more lenience when it comes to the Vanguards’ HP regeneration. In a normal raid, if the hitpoints of all 3 Vanguards are not within 25% of each other, they all heal. In a solo raid, this number is raised to 35% to make it a bit easier.
  • Ahrim’s staff update:
    • The staff has been one of the worst Magic weapons in-game and not deserving of being a Barrows weapon. Due to this, we’ve followed OSRS’s footsteps and updated the weapon:
      • The staff is now single-handed instead of two-handed, making it much more useful as it can be used with a shield.
      • The staff now provides a 5% Magic damage boost.
  • Bandos godsword update:
    • The BGS has also been a weapon that dulled in comparison to its counterparts. To combat this, we’ve made the special attack take 50% rather than 65% of the special energy (as per OSRS’ update), which matches the energy requirement for all other godswords.
  • Ring of wealth (i) on death update:
    • This ring would be lost on death in PvP if not protected, due to it reverting to a regular Ring of wealth. Considering it is a donation item for ironmen and the reverted version is essentially worthless, this item will now be added to the untradeable shop just as it would be in a PvM death.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Veteran/Ex-staff ranks as a secondary will no longer over-ride staff (and other) ranks in-game (particularly when using ::yell).
    • Grotesque Guardians fixes:
      • Dawn will no longer appear at home in the death area.
      • Marble gargoyles will now drop brittle keys as well, but at a higher rate than normal gargoyles (2x as likely)
    • Thermonuclear smoke devil change:
      • The respawn time for this boss has been changed to 10 seconds to allow players to kill it more easily.
    • The Birthday event has been removed.
    • Construction fix:
      • An issue with the cape rack not removing your cape has been fixed.
    • Fixed a no-clip bug with a trapdoor near GE.
    • Fixed a bug with certain dialogues not closing when clicking “continue” or the space bar
      • For example, if you tried to open the Crystal chest without a key, it would send you a dialogue that could not be closed unless you walked somewhere.
    • A miscellaneous Zulrah error has been fixed.
    • A miscellaneous bug with the ::yell command has been fixed.
  • Grotesque guardian changes:
    • Slayer task:
      • You can now receive a Grotesque guardians slayer task. The experience/deduction will be applied after defeating both bosses.
        • Additionally, if you are on a gargoyle task, you can kill the guardians instead. In this case, the deaths of both guardians will be counted.
  • House update:
    • You can now kick players from your house. Simply use the right-click “Kick” option and your player will chase after the other player until you reach them, at which point they’ll be kicked.
    • Members of the owner's clan can also kick from the house provided they have the minimum kick rank requirement (follows the clan chat settings)
  • PvM Lectern fix:
    • Some bosses were bugged due to the use of a cannon.
      • For example, if your cannon started damaging a boss, the time at which you started attacking the boss would not register. So if it takes you 1 minute to kill the boss, but your cannon did the first 30 seconds, your kill time would be 30 seconds.
        • We’ve fixed this bug, and we’ve tried to remove all known unrealistic kill times from the PvM lectern.

  • Combat/Wilderness updates:
    • Combat fixes:
      • Freezing fix:
        • A bug which caused players to still continue running to their destination even if they get frozen has been fixed.
          • A frozen player will now be stopped right in their tracks as soon as the freeze lands.
      • PJ timer changes in Edgeville:
        • The PJ timer is currently set to ~5 seconds all across the Wilderness. This is still the default PJ timer, but for players in Edgeville (up to level 10 wilderness), the timer has been doubled to 10 seconds to make PJing less of a grievance in 1v1 fights.
    • Wilderness updates:
      • Bloody chest:
        • Loot rate update:
          • The loot rate from the chest has been heavily increased across the board, making it easier to get worthwhile rewards from the bloody chest. Make sure to try your luck at opening the chest after this update!
        • Skulling function/warning:
          • You will now be skulled once you open the bloody chest. Before you open the chest, you will be warned that you will be skulled (if not already skulled). If you are already skulled, no warning will be issued.
      • Bloody keys spawn:
        • To make the wilderness more eventful, we’ve added a new hourly event in which players will be able to get a free key in the wilderness!
        • Every 45-75 minutes, an announcement will be made to all players that a key will spawn at a certain location in 3 minutes.
          • Eg. “News: A Bloody key will appear at the Rogue’s castle in 3 minutes.”
          • This will give players a bit of time to prepare and gather supplies in case they encounter any fights on the way to obtain the key.
            • The location of the key is random and the locations available are spread across the wilderness. With that being said, most of the locations are deeper in the wilderness.

  • Client updates:
    • QOL updates:
      • Welcome screen “Space-to-continue”
        • This means you won’t have to click the “Play” button on the welcome screen to get into the game. Just hit space!
      • 1-2-3-4-5 keyboard keys:
        • You can now use the number keys on your keyboard to select dialogue options rather than having to click them! This works for all dialogues, and combined with space-to-continue, you’ll never have to use your mouse again for dialogues.
    • Mini-map icon fix:
      • Some of you may have noticed that the minimap has been missing the icons (bank/poll booth/cooking ranges/etc) for quite some time now. This broke awhile back and I hadn’t noticed until recently. It has been fixed for the entire map.
    • Client timer fixes:
      • The way that client timers are initiated has been redone.
        • This is primarily intended to fix the bug where a player could yell “Oh dear, you are dead!” which would cause your death timer to show up. This will no longer happen.
    • Client background/logo update:
      • The background/logo on the client have both been updated to match the most recent homepage/forum design.

  • Forum updates:
    • The profile photo upload limit has been increased from 500kb to 2,000kb.
    • Additionally, some groups were only able to upload a 150x150 photo, but this has been increased to 200x200 for all groups.

#128675 [11/5/17] Alora Birthday Event & Grotesque Guardians

Posted by Omicron on 05 November 2017 - 09:03 PM

slogan_gargs.png

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the late update! Of course, yesterday was Alora’s birthday, and I wanted to push the update then but was conflicted between continuing to work on Grotesque Guardians or just pushing the event by itself. I decided it’d be a much nicer update to have the new gargoyle bosses released alongside the birthday event, and that is why it was postponed. Nonetheless, the update is here and you’ll be able to participate in the event and hunt down those new gargoyle bosses right after!

Note: You will need a client update to play following this update! For most of you, this simply means restarting the client and clicking "Yes" when asked if you want to update. For those of you who have the RAR client, you'll need to re-download it manually from the client page.

  • Miscellaneous:
    • Duel arena fix:
      • Items can no longer be picked up or dropped within the Duel arena.
  • Engine performance update:
    • We’ve made some changes to the game engine in hopes of reducing the processing delay of players every cycle. We’re going to continue to monitor this and make the necessary changes to ensure that the server doesn’t lag after extended periods of uptime.
  • Trade interface fix:
    • Very often in-game, the second trade window would say “You are about to trade: Item” without listing the items in the trade, or would show “Trading with: Other” instead of the other player’s name. Both of these issues have been fixed.
  • Thieving update:
    • You can now thieve cakes from the Ardougne cake stalls with level 5 Thieving.
  • Lost items shop update:
    • New items that will be protected upon death:
      • Jonas mask:
        • Reclaim cost: 250k
      • Birthday hat:
        • Reclaim cost: 250k
  • Zulrah fix:
    • Sometimes, Zulrah would be invisible once it goes down under and wouldn’t come back up again for a long time. This should no longer happen, and you’ll be able to see Zulrah as soon as it comes back up.
  • Inferno fix:
    • JalTok-Jad should no longer go invisible in the final wave.

  • Birthday Event:
    • Claus the Chef is distressed and in need of help! He’s preparing a huge cake for all of Alora to celebrate, but can’t seem to get it right without special ingredients.
      • Talk to Claus in Edgeville, near the western house (where the cooking range is) to see what he needs to make the birthday cake for this year’s celebration.
        • You’ll be sent on a journey across Alora to obtain these items, but you’ll be rewarded with a cool celebratory item that will help you remember this event for years to come!

  • Store update:
    • The Halloween sale has been extended as it overlaps with the Birthday event — but we’ve also added an exclusive Birthday item to the store!
      • Birthday balloons:
        • These tradable balloons will be available in the store for the next few days until the sale ends.

  • Grotesque Guardians:
    • Recently released in OSRS, this pair of Gargoyles — Dawn and Dusk — terrorize the rooftop of the Slayer tower.
      • You’ll need to find a brittle key — occasionally dropped by regular Gargoyles at a rate of about 1/121, to unlock the portal to access the roof.
      • These gargoyles are highly unusual, and you’ll need stay on your toes while fighting them to make sure that you can leave the rooftop alive!
    • Notable Rewards:
      • Granite dust:
        • You can mix this dust with Cannonballs to make Granite cannonballs.
          • These cannonballs have a max hit of 35 rather than the usual max hit of 30.
          • You can only have one type of cannonball in your cannon, so if you still have 10 regular cannonballs left in your cannon, you’ll need to fire them all before loading any granite balls, and vice-versa.
      • Granite hammer:
        • A hammer requiring level 50 attack and strength, with a special attack that has one powerful swing at 50% increased accuracy, requiring 60% special energy.
      • Granite gloves:
        • Gloves requiring level 50 defence, slightly superior to Adamant gloves.
      • Granite ring:
        • A ring requiring level 50 defence.
          • Can be imbued with a scroll, effectively doubling its bonuses.
      • Black tourmaline core:
        • Can be merged with Bandos boots, leaving you with Guardian boots — which have the best defensive melee bonus in-game.
      • Jar of stone
      • Noon:
        • Arguably the coolest looking pet now available in Alora, which can also be changed to it’s gargoyle variant, Midnight, through the metamorphosis option!
    • Notes:
      • This is a safe death, which means you’ll keep your items, BUT a dangerous one for HCIM who will lose their rank if they die here. You’ve been warned.
      • Level 75 Slayer is required to enter the portal.
      • Another huge thanks to @Chase for the wonderful work on the homepage slogan (Grotesque guardians await you)!

#128387 One Year Of Alora

Posted by Omicron on 04 November 2017 - 11:20 AM

logo_bday@2x.png

Thanks to @Chase as always for designing the logo!

Happy Birthday!

Hello everyone,

Today is an exciting day, as it officially marks an entire year since Alora was released! Some of you were around even earlier than that, as we opened the forums sometime in July of that year, but for all intents and purposes we’ll consider November 4th, 2016 as the official release date.

It has been quite the exciting year, with many ups and downs, and much to my surprise, we’ve managed to build an incredible community in such a short time. Never did I anticipate Alora eventually becoming what is, in my opinion, the greatest community of players on any RSPS that I have seen in my many years of affiliation with RSPS. We wouldn’t be where we are right now if it weren’t for the loyalty and support that you guys have consistently given over the past year (and more in some cases).

Even when things got rough, through DDoS attacks, exploits and downtime in the early stages, each and every one of you has pushed through those times and did not give up on us, and we’d like to thank you for that. I’d also like to give a huge thank you to the staff team (and previous staff members) who have given their all to moderate the community and ensure that toxicity and negativity don’t drag down the community, your work is highly appreciated and has provided the foundation for what Alora has become.

With that being said, I’d like to congratulate everyone on one year of Alora, and hopefully many more to come! As long as the community is still spending their time around here, we’ll keep making the experience better and better. Your support makes us want to work harder and make it an even better place for you to hang around. :)

Note: An in-game Birthday event will be released later today, so keep an eye out ;)

Best regards,

Omicron

#124411 [10/14/17] CONSTRUCTION IS OUT!

Posted by Hex on 14 October 2017 - 10:26 PM

Hiding game features behind a paywall has got to be the most disgusting thing i have ever seen.

Plank-make being reserved to legendary for teak and uber for mahog is actually pathetic.

I usually only have good things to say about updates but this is honestly just sad to see.

donated $250 to a server and i cant even use a spell that is just a component of a skill.
You should make tinderbox $50 donator rank or higher next @Omicron

#100480 Lizardman Shamans

Posted by 1 on 18 July 2017 - 03:15 AM

At the moment, lizardman shamans are harder to kill than on OSRS and are too OP relative to the other bosses on Alora. To "nerf" them a bit, either:

- Make it so that protection prayers work against them, so that you aren't just hit constant 28s with the acid attack regardless of prayers/def bonus.

- Make Shayzien armour work properly (making their acid attacks deal 0 damage).

#84384 Imbued items guide

Posted by Kreatix on 24 May 2017 - 12:40 PM

Over the past few weeks I've seen an increase in questions related to imbued rings/slayer helm/crystal halberd...
So I've decided to to shed some light upon these FAQs.

Imbued items

1. How can one Imbue an item?

pgcH2HT.png

Rings can be imbued via an imbue scroll.

The Imbue scroll, which can be bought: 1. in the slayer shop for a generous 7.500 slayer points
                                                                2. at the emblem trader (who can be found lurking around in Edgeville)

bKqA1dK.png SSKuZEN.png

Row and the magic shortbow can be imbued via the row scroll (can be bought in both the slayer shop and the pkp shop) and the magic shortbow scroll (only in the slayer shop).

2. What's the difference between the imbued and unimbued version?

2.1) Berserker ring

An unimbued berserker ring gives a +4 melee strength bonus. Imbuing it, will dubbel the original effect, resulting in a +8 melee strength bonus.

2.2) Warrior ring

Most forgotten ring, yet it tends to be pretty good when using an abyssal whip due to its slash bonus.
The warrior ring gives a +4 slash attack and defence bonus (resulting in a higher accuracy and defence bonus), the warrior ring (i) gives +8 slash attack and defence bonus.

2.3) Archers' ring

The archer ring gives +4 ranged attack and defence bonus, the archer ring (i) gives +8 ranged attack and defence bonus.

2.4) Seers ring

The seers ring gives a +6 magic attack and defence bonus and imbued +12 magic attack and defence bonus.

2.5) Ring of the gods

It gives a +1 defence bonus (in all defence styles) and a +4 prayer bonus, when imbued the defence bonus remains unchanged. However, you will receive a +8 prayer bonus and the passive effect of a holy wrench*.

Spoiler

2.6) Tyrannical ring

The unimbued tyrannical ring gives a +4 crush attack and defence bonus. When imbued, the ring gives a +8 crush and attack bonus. (This ring does not give you extra damage, it only increases your crush accuracy!)

2.7) Magic shortbow

The magic shortbow(i) gives a +6 ranked attack (range) bonus and only uses 50% (instead of 55% -> unimbued) of your spec bar, when using a special ability.

2.8) Ring of wealth

First off, let's get rid of this widely believed myth that a ring of wealth improves your chances of receiving a unique drop. It does NOT, it does, however, improve your chances of landing on the rare drop table (rune/dragon items etc...). When imbued, this ring doubles the wearer's chances of receiving a clue scroll.

2.9) Crystal halberd

There is no difference between the Crystal halberd (i) and the unimbued version.

2.10) Slayer helm

The unimbued slayer helm gives a 16.67% attack accuracy and damage bonus. The imbued version also increases the range and magic accuracy + damage by 15%.

TLDR

#65026 Completionist Cape Requirements

Posted by S on 26 March 2017 - 05:49 PM

Hi, just making a suggestion based on what I've discussed with people.

  • The Pking Achievements should be lowered or removed. Currently the only people who can really get it are people in max hybrid gear, and even then most people use teams and multilog in order to get kills. This makes it unfair and difficult for the average person to get Completionist, because most people dont hang around in teams of 5+. The 5 killstreak is fine, but 15 is a bit too high considering the circumstances, as is the 50 kills (maybe lower it to like 20)

#64606 Ironman Exemption from PK Achievements Req. (Comp. Monkey)

Posted by Gin N Tonic on 25 March 2017 - 08:39 AM

How are ultimate ironmen account ever going to complete these PKing achievements. This update could have been thought through a bit better.

I suggest killing 50 of each wilderness boss and 75 of each demi-boss as 2 hard achievements.

This would make the wilderness more active than the current achievements would. I think right now Ironman accounts would find a way to legally 'boost' the current achievements, however with wilderness boss kills it would give a constant feed to pkers to try and kill the pvmers.

#64602 Ironman Exemption from PK Achievements Req. (Comp. Monkey)

I believe pking shouldn't be on there at all, you shouldn't be forced to pk imo, every one plays this game in there own way, pvming, skilling, questing and pking is something that mostly stand apart from it. although it is a big aspect of the game since alot of people do and like it, I do not think that players who do not like this aspect have to be forced into learning to pk, getting these achievements just to be able to get the achievement cape.

So a support from me but it should be removed completely for every one.

#64600 Ironman Exemption from PK Achievements Req. (Comp. Monkey)

How about replacing the pk-achievements for something else? I support. I tried pking but people at resource area were making fun of me because of my lack of pk-skills. Feelsbadman..

#64739 Chin task

You have to catch 1000 chins to complete a easy task, while there is a wc achiviement for 50 logs? 1000 chins is hard and slow. should be 50-100.

#64109 Clan Tags

Posted by Zab on 23 March 2017 - 02:32 PM

Hey there, so I just want to start off by saying this is an idea formed by the collaboration of some of my #TNG Clanmates, as well as some of the community members who have posted below.

The idea is something seen in a few other servers, which is in-game Clan Tags. Maximum of 3 letters (to prevent spam), this would help people figure out what clan everyone is from. This is especially helpful in the Wilderness as bigger clans have trouble remembering all their new recruits.

Now to prevent masses of people creating their own Clans just to have a cool little Tag beside their name, players would have to register their Clan Name in-game by talking to an NPC and paying a fee of perhaps 5-10m; #Moneysink. This price is only temporary and I would like to know what price you guys think it should be. Now in order for new recruits to have your Clan Tag in their name, as the Clan Owner, you can either invite a player into your clan and have them accept, or a player may apply to join your clan and you the Clan Owner can choose to accept or deny. This can all be done at an NPC as well, where you can also choose to set your Clan as "Invite-Only", to prevent dozens of unwanted spam applications.

TL;DR:

  • Clan Tag appears beside the Player's username
  • Clan Tag is a maximum of 3 letters.
  • As the Clan Owner, to create your Clan Tag you must talk to an NPC and pay a fee of perhaps 50-100m (It is this high to make Clan Tags more respected as it's a 3-letter tag added to all Clan Member's usernames) #Moneysink
  • A Playtime requirement of 1-2 days is needed to create a Clan Tag  - Credits to  Iron Flee
  • Certain ranks can invite players to officially join the Clan with a Clan Tag
  • Players can apply to join the clan and obtain the Clan Tag.
  • Clan Owners can choose to set the Clan as "Invite Only"
  • Option to toggle on/off Clan Tags from being visible to you   - Credits to Error

Pros:

  • Helps Clans identify their clanmates in the Wilderness
  • Can be deemed an official way of joining a Clan
  • #Moneysink when creating the Clan Tag

Cons:

  • Clan Tags may look tacky to some (however being able to toggle them being visible to you will counter this)

Thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think and if you have any further ideas to build on top of this!

I had suggested that they directly teleport you to skotizo - wouldn't be hard to code imo
