Error has resigned from his administrator position. I would like to personally thank him for his time here on Alora. He's been on the staff team for nearly an entire year and hasn't dissapointed us 1 bit. I wish him the best in his personal life and hope we get to see him as staff again in the near future.

Hello everyone,

 

Today is an exciting day, as it officially marks an entire year since Alora was released! Some of you were around even earlier than that, as we opened the forums sometime in July of that year, but for all intents and purposes we’ll consider November 4th, 2016 as the official release date. 

 

It has been quite the exciting year, with many ups and downs, and much to my surprise, we’ve managed to build an incredible community in such a short time. Never did I anticipate Alora eventually becoming what is, in my opinion, the greatest community of players on any RSPS that I have seen in my many years of affiliation with RSPS. We wouldn’t be where we are right now if it weren’t for the loyalty and support that you guys have consistently given over the past year (and more in some cases). 

 

Even when things got rough, through DDoS attacks, exploits and downtime in the early stages, each and every one of you has pushed through those times and did not give up on us, and we’d like to thank you for that. I’d also like to give a huge thank you to the staff team (and previous staff members) who have given their all to moderate the community and ensure that toxicity and negativity don’t drag down the community, your work is highly appreciated and has provided the foundation for what Alora has become.

 

With that being said, I’d like to congratulate everyone on one year of Alora, and hopefully many more to come! As long as the community is still spending their time around here, we’ll keep making the experience better and better. Your support makes us want to work harder and make it an even better place for you to hang around. :)

Hiding game features behind a paywall has got to be the most disgusting thing i have ever seen.

Plank-make being reserved to legendary for teak and uber for mahog is actually pathetic.

I usually only have good things to say about updates but this is honestly just sad to see.

You should make tinderbox $50 donator rank or higher next @Omicron

We're locking a slightly more convenient method behind donator status, as we always have. There's nothing stopping you, or anyone else from going to the sawmill and making the planks, all the same. We aren't locking any content away to donators, we're simply adding a layer of convenience.

You made plank-make 20x faster than any other method by making it do AN ENTIRE INVENTORY per cast. if you put a banker 5 steps from the sawmill it would STILL BE SLOWER.

its not slightly or convienient , its the equivalent of only allowing donators to make bronze items for 99 smithing. its possible but that doesnt make it any less pathetic

 

Edit: i should add, its convenient on osrs because you sacrifice gp getting the runes, to make the pank at roughly 1.5x the speed. so theres a payoff for the increased speed. you aren't selling convenience you are holding content as hostage.

For clarification, i have no problem with you incentivizing donations @Omicron

but doing it at the expense of the rest of your players is wrong

In this months edition we will be going over some huge updates, some new staff and a couple of new rules updates!

 

Just a heads up, I am happy to announce newspapers are back to being released bi-weekly!

That being said, expect another edition at the start of next month  :)

Brief explanation (optional): Added a disclaimer to the real world trade rule, in order to clarify punishments for players who attempt to real world trade, as it's always been punishable.

 

6. Real World Trading

 

The act of purchasing/selling goods, or services (accounts, real life items, RSGP, Microsoft points, riot points, other private server items for Alora items etc.) will not be tolerated. This rule further effaces hacks, scams, etc. We will not be held responsible for a scam or hacking. Failure to comply will result in the seller being permanently banned, followed with an IP-Ban the second time around. As for the buyer, a 72 hour ban with a complete bank wipe will be arranged, granted it was a first offense. The second offense will result in a 7 day ban with a complete bank wipe, and, lastly, a permanent ban.

 

• a. Purchasing or selling any Alora account, donor status, or gold is not permitted on the server or forums. First offenders will receive a permanent ban with no chance of appeal; the second offense will result in an IP-Ban.
 

 

Disclaimer: The attempt or conspiracy to real world trade will be punished the same as if the user had committed the act(s) in question.

Example 1. Player A is killing Skotizo and using a second account to fight off Player B because he wants the kill/loot all to himself.

Example 2. Player A is skilling and use a second account to fight off players that attack it.

 

 

9. Multi-Logging

 

The activity of multi-logging is not against the rules of Alora, as we do allow players to be logged in on multiple accounts at once. However, multi-logging with clear intention for personal advantage will result in accounts being terminated. We strive to maintain an environment in which all players do not have an exponential advantage over others by partaking in the same activity while logged in on both accounts.

• a. Playing on multiple accounts at once while participating in skilling, bossing and Player versus Player (PvP) is not allowed. An example of this is going of the basis that two accounts are thieving at the same time, this would be against this rule. Having one account killing one NPC and another account doing another NPC would also be violating this rule. It is allowed to have one account fishing and another bossing. This rule also applies to using a second account to assist yourself with bossing/skilling in the wilderness. First offenders will receive a 48 hour ban with a bank wipe issued to all accounts involved, followed up with a permanent ban, and finally, an IP-Ban.

The Updates that come out on 9/08/17 & 9/14/17 was huge! The following was added;

• PvM changes:
  • Dagannoth king fixes:
    • Dagannoth Prime will now attack with Magic instead of Range. 
    • Dagannoth Supreme will no longer use Melee close-up, he will only use Range at any distance.
    • All kings’ aggression distance has been increased.
    • Dagannoth king combat animations fixed (attack/block/death)
  • Range nerf has been heavily reduced to balance out the combat triangle. It is nearly back to how it was originally, with a slight range defence boost on NPCs.
  • Wyvern expansion:
    • The 2nd floor of the Wyvern map is now accessible! Many more wyverns can be fought on the upper level.
  • Miscellaneous / bug fixes:
    • Amulet of Magic (t) is now wearable.
      • Previously only the “Use” option was available on this item.
    • Yell fix:
      • You can now use the ‘<‘ character in yell.
        • This fixes the issue where you cannot make hearts () in a yell message.
    • Broken achievement fixes:
      • Killstreak achievements (3 and 6) both fixed.
    • New travel commands added:
      • ::shops 
        • Brings you to the Edgeville shop room
      • ::raids
        • Brings you to Mount Quidamortem
    • Fixed “floating” objects bug:
      • Sometimes, objects such as trees/fires would float on the second floor if you lit them on the ground floor and then went up a few levels. This should no longer occur.

    • Instance fix:
      • A bug which allowed players to create an instance even though they were in a clan chat and/or not the owner of the channel, has been fixed.
        • You must now be within a clan chat, and the owner, to create an instanced room. This is to prevent confusion since it lead to players being unable to re-enter their own instances if they created it while not inside a CC.
    • Cannon fix:
      • Cannons can no longer be placed at the ::event area on top of the GE.
      • Cannons can no longer hit enemies through different heights.
        • Previously, the server would check if the enemies and the player who owned the cannon were on the same “floor”. This was wrong, as it should check the floor that the cannon is on, not the player.
    • Corporeal beast fix:
      • Corp will no longer attack players on the ground floor of the GE when he is spawned on top of the GE.
    • Skilling bug fix:
      • Woodcutting/crafting at the same time is no longer possible.
    • Classic mode / bonds fix:
      • Sometimes, when opening bonds on classic mode it would overwrite your classic icon next your name with the donator icon. This has been fixed for Classic mode accounts and also other unchangeable ones such as Ironman and staff members.
    • No-clip ladders/staircases:
      • Many ladders/staircases have been fixed or disabled as they allowed players to no-clip above the ground.
    • Seers village rooftop agility trapdoor fixed
  • Ensouled head notifications:
    • Similar to the money casket drops, you will now be notified for ensouled heads!
  • Pest control changes:
    • Pest control wait time lowered:
      • The time has been reduced from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.
    • More pests will now spawn for larger teams to allow everyone to obtain their minimum score to be eligible for points.
  • Cache update:
    • The cache has been updated to revision #155.
      • Although this doesn’t immediately apply to the game, many new items/npcs/maps were released with this update (such as Fossil Island, the Champion’s cape, New granite weaponry/armour, Ancient wyvern shield, etc) for future use.
      • Map fixes(areas that had incorrectly packed maps):
        • Karamja cave before TzHaar
        • Catacombs of Kourend
          • Some areas were unwalkable (near Hellhounds)
        • Wyvern dungeon second level
        • Shilo village (previously missing map keys)
        • Mining guild below Falador
  • News messages update:
    • News messages (eg. Rare drops, maxing announcements, etc) will now include the player’s in-game icon if applicable (eg. Ironman, classic, donator, etc.)
    • When a Hardcore ironman dies and loses their status, the news message will now also announce their total level.
      • Eg. Hardcore Ironman Max has fallen at 1,401 total level!
  • Slayer task changes:
    • Changes:
      • Wilderness spider tasks should now deduct as intended.
      • Experience changes:
        • TzTok-Jad task will now give more points/experience.
        • Wilderness tasks will now give 25% more experience.
    • New tasks:
      • Inferno task is now available!
        • You must have already completed the Inferno to be able to get this task.
        • Of course, a higher number of points/experience will be obtained for completing this task. 
        • Additionally, you have DOUBLE the chance of obtaining the Nibbler pet upon completion of the Inferno if you are on the task!
  • Slayer streaks:
    • Slayer streaks are a new feature to rewards players who don’t cancel Slayer tasks!
      • The more tasks you do without using the reset button, the more points you will get upon completion of your task.
        • The rate of extra points is simply your streak multiplied by the BASE points for the slayer task.
          • Base points:
            • Normal task:
              • CB 1-50: 1 point
              • CB 51-99: 2 points
              • CB 100-199: 3 points
              • CB 200+: 4 points
            • Special tasks:
              • Wilderness bosses: 5 points
              • Extreme tasks: 5 points
              • TzTok-Jad: 8 points
              • TzKal-Zuk: 12 points
            • Wilderness tasks:
              • Double any of the above points (eg. Wildy bosses give 10 instead of 5)
          • After you have determined the base points, the extra points for your streak are calculated as follows:
            • extraPoints = basePoints * streak
              • If your streak is >30, the calculation will max it out at 30.
              • For example, if you defeat TzTok-Jad at a streak of 30 tasks, you will receive (8 * 30) = 240 bonus Slayer points.
    • Your current streak is now displayed on the Slayer interface. 
    • Note: Blocking a task cancels your current task, which means it will also reset your streak.

  • New Donator Zone:
    • Shilo Village:
      • General:
        • ::dz to access
          • The old donator zone will still be accessible for the time being, with the ::dzold or ::dz2 commands
        • Credits to @Casual and @2 swords for ideas!
      • Map edits:
        • A western exit to the bank building has been opened up
        • The jungles to the west of the bank have been cleared for the woodcutting & mining zones
      • Features:
        • Extended zone across the bridge to the north (Super donators+)
          • Gem Mining:
            • Gem mining is now available to donators!
              • A number of rocks are now in the new Donator zone.
              • Additionally, Extreme donators or higher can use the ladder in Shilo village to enter the Gem mine where there are many more rocks, as well as a bank deposit chest!
          • New Thieving Stall:
            • A new stall requiring level 99 Thieving is located on across the bridge in the new Donator zone for Super+ donators!
              • This stall will give 11.5k instead of the previous 10k maximum, and is also the only stall with a chance to get the Rocky pet!
        • Furnace/anvil room close to bank
        • Woodcutting area:
          • The jungle trees to the west of the bank have been cleared to provide for a tidy lane of Magic trees, with a few teak trees off to the corner:

      • Note:
        • This zone is to be expanded upon in the future, but for the moment the main goal for this release is to get Gem rock mining out to everyone. Some possibilities for future updates include a new thieving stall and the ability to catch a limited number of black chins and/or anglerfish per day here, entirely dependant on whether the community wants these updates!
  • Bank Deposit boxes now functional:
    • Necessary for the Gem mine in Shilo village, we’ve now made Bank deposit boxes functional all over Alora!
  • In-game playtime fix:
    • Play-time was bugged in-game and showing values that were inaccurate (too low)
      • You may notice that your playtime is now much higher in your quest tab, but this is the correct display for the time you have been active in-game.
  • Slayer item fixes:
    • Slayer helm (i):
      • Bonus damage on the imbued Slayer helmet (and the coloured variants) did not have the proper calculations for accuracy or damage for all combat styles and have now been fixed. 
        • 16.67% bonus on Melee accuracy/damage (same as unimbued)
        • 15% bonus on Magic & Range accuracy/damage
  • Friends/ignores fixes:
    • People on your ignore list should no longer be able to PM you.
    • “Friends” private chat option now working properly:
      • Previously, if you had your private chat set to friends, your friends’ messages would still not get through to you.
  • Mining guild fix:
    • The mining guild map has been fixed! This means that many more ores are available to mine, as well as a bank within the mining guild.
      • In the near future, the Amethyst rocks here will be mineable as well!
    • Navigation/header button changes:
      • Discord button added to top header
      • Twitter button removed
      • Buttons will now open the link(s) in a new tab
    • Trading post tax reduced:
      • The % of your sale that goes to tax has been reduced from 5% to 2.5%.
    • New shop item:
      • We can’t get Fossil island out right now due to the full focus on construction, but we know that many of you would love to get your hands on one of the new items in the meantime!
        • Ancient wyvern shield ~ 850 tokens
          • This shield is one of the best Magic shields in the game, with stats comparable to that of the Arcane spirit shield when fully charged.
            • Similar to the Anti-dragon shield, you also receive dragonfire protection wearing this shield.
    • Inferno fixes:
      • Fixed not being able to see the boss on the far right side
      • Fixed distraction monsters on final wave not retaliating to you if you hit them with magic
    • Previous update bug fixes:
      • Redwoods ladder in Woodcutting guild has been fixed
      • Donator zone fixes/changes:
        • The fire has been moved into the bank and other random objects have been removed to make space for it.
        • Slayer master’s (Steve) right click options have been fixed (trade/assignment/rewards)
        • Furnace in DZ is now working
      • Opal crafting has been fixed
      • ::shops command will now bring Ironman to Paul instead of the shop room
      • Godsword special attack animations fixed:
        • For some reason, the previous update broke the old animation ids for the Godsword special attacks. We’ve grabbed the latest ones and pushed the fix.
    • Donator Zone new additions:
      • Rejuvination pool
      • Nurse
      • Altar
    • Battle royale fix:
      • Pressing the ESC key to close the viewing orb interface is now blocked.
    • Object examines added:
      • Objects now have proper examine text!
    • Miscellaneous:
      • Fixed Skotizo randomly despawning on players sometimes (not World skotizo, but player-spawned skotizos)
      • Grim reaper hood is now tradable
      • Fixed killstreak announcements showing the player’s rank instead of their icon (eg. OWNEROmicron just shutdown X’s kill streak)

Repost of the topic that @Lowkey made a while back. Seeing quite a bit of you are new here, but still use passwords you used from older communities. So here's a fair piece of warning: 

 

Recently some players have reported losing their items due to someone else knowing their passwords, in other words getting hacked. This is likely due to those players reusing passwords between different games and communities. Many of those other communities have been leaked in the past making it easier for hackers to get a hold of your information. We encourage you to activate 2FA so you have the highest level of protection on your account. If your account is hacked there will be nothing we can do as we have offered you security for your account.

As someone who loves competing on hiscores, something I've seen way too often is a server without proper hiscores. It takes away from the competing aspect of the game. Can I get a confirmation by a mod or owner that the hiscores save ranks at 200m? Like the first person to 200m will stay rank 1, ect? otherwise theres no reason to try to compete because anyone can do it after you and be ahead of you.

First person to 200m experience in a skill will stay #1

Few things I would like to address:

 

1. Donations are vital in a RSPS to keep it running and also for profit. Most servers who attempted to do skilling boosts and custom donor zones etc never got much donations. That's why items are a good way to get money. People who donate obviously want to get rich easier and be "lazy" but it benefits everyone else also. New content, perhaps new developers, etc thats if the owners use their money wisely to advertise and make more content.

 

2. The prices is what you should be fixated on. I don't think the items will be removed nor changed and the store isn't even 100% complete so we might see some changes and additions. So until Omicron or Raw Envy tell us how donations will officially work we should be patient.

3. Usually non-donors are the richest in most RSPS I played. They invest time and actually do everything in the game to be #1 while donors usually donate then bank-stand. Just be someone who grinds and I promise you everything will work out.

OT: There is nothing you can really do. Donations help the economy get rolling anyways. If you do it correctly.. making money in the beginning of the game using skills, and pvm will be real easy to get a great lead on others who just want to max skills out right away. 

Perhaps some items to be "temporally" removed from the store you might ask? It's a tough choice and probably not worth doing as well.

You just need to play it out. 

Someone also mentioned that most people who don't donate usually are the wealthiest in game.
