#113665 [9/1/17] Hunter rework + A bunch of big fixes

Posted by Insane v1 on 01 September 2017 - 05:57 AM

Just a heads up, few updates ago you changed the wilderness killstreak achievement to a 6 kill streak rather than a 15. It says it's 6 on the achievement, but it actually still takes a 15 KS to get it. I got my 15 KS today and it unlocked the achievement, and I've been on manyh 6+ KS's after the original update.

#113178 PVP Suggestions (much needed)

Posted by FASTCLICKS7 on 30 August 2017 - 08:03 AM

Allow to change new prayers positions with old prayers, due to many being used to using old prayers, and their placing on the spellbook is also a lot more efficient for hybrid/no honor style pking.

TB rework:

- TB Animation changed to osrs animation
- TB when thrown on you, you should be able while the animation is on-going, to throw up "protect from magic" and only get half tbed, but on here you get fulled if they are to throw it whilst not praying. I am not sure how long you have to do this, but I know for sure that it is like that on OSRS.

Dragon Claws rework:

- D claw spec animation changed to OSRS animation
- D claws seem to never hit, maybe a slight buff (idk)

Magic accuracy rework:

On Alora it seems like even casting with mystics is op, as it hits almost always, where as on OSRS it's normal to splash 5 times in a row. I think this needs to be taken a look at, as well as it's impossible to "splash" without hitting, which on OSRS is set at -65 magic to splash everything, where as on Alora with -75 magic accuracy you still hit. PERHAPS rework the whole formula.

This basically just shows how OP magics are on Alora.

Melee BUFF:

In the wilderness, what I have experienced is that tentacle whip almost never hits, where as melee is extremely OP on OSRS. Due to that, hybriding no honor'ers is nearly impossible due to the amount of damage you take, and the amount of damage you give does not support that.

Due to that usually when focusing a kill, many Alora PK'ers will magic the focus the entire time (sometimes) due to the extremely accurate magics on this game.

To counter this: NERF magics accuracy, Buff melee in itself.

PVP Risk Protection: It should be possible to skull on someone if you risk the amount skulled, without counting the +1 they might risk if they fick off protection prayers, and you should not have to skull up on someone else or on the emblem trader to skull, IF you risk the amount you need to skulled.

SWITCHING: I am not yet sure what the problem with switching is, but it seems like the ticks for the switched items to appear in your inventory is kind of out of order.

Some proof of this:

Very different isn't it?

- VENOM ADDED, including anti-venoms(+'s)

Venom adds another spice to pking, and is a BUILT in osrs function.

#112350 [8/27/17] Battle Royale Viewing orbs, Cannonball smithing, Rainbow scarf...

Posted by Omicron on 27 August 2017 - 04:56 AM

Hey guys,

Today’s update will prepare us for the first half of the Classic mode competition — the PvP tournament, which will be hosted later today at 5pm UTC (server time) by @uTorrent ! We urge you to participate if you’re a classic player, of course, and/or to watch if you are not. @Lowkey will be streaming the event, but you can also now view Battle Royale events with the latest command (::watchbr) included in this update.

Countdown to event:

https://www.timeandd...nt&font=cursive

You must register at least 15 minutes prior to the event by posting your Classic account name in the sign-up thread:

http://www.alora.io/...-pvp-tournament

Along with this, we’ve now added the ability for players to craft Cannonballs if they can amass 15,000 Slayer points for the mould! We’ve also listened to your suggestions for Raids and have tried our best to make the formula as fair and accurate as possible.

  • Forum Loyalty program updated:
    • To account for the previous top record of 2,500 posts being broken (Congratulations @Diva !), we have added a new goal for everyone (Aka @Sheep) to reach:
      • 5,000 posts reward:
        • The never seen before, all new Rainbow Scarf!
        • Wily Hellcat
  • NPC Pathfinding fixed:
    • Some NPCs were walking oddly (eg. Through pillar in the Inferno) since the last update. This has been patched.
  • Magic fix:
    • When freezing a target (eg. Using Ice barrage), they would unfreeze if you were 11 steps away or further. This has been increased to 14 steps away before unfreeze.
  • Abyssal tentacle whip now has a chance to poison your enemy for 4 damage.
    • The special attack yields an even higher chance of poisoning your opponent.
  • Cannonball smithing is now available:
    • To create cannonballs, simply have an ammo mould in your inventory and use Steel bars on a furnace!
      • Ammo mould (tradable) can be purchased from the Slayer reward shop for 15,000 points.
  • Raid points major changes:
    • Inactive players’ (logged out or left raid) points will be removed from the team total.
    • A major overhaul to the way Raids points affect your loot rate has been implemented:
      • It is now based on 3 factors:
        • Your points
        • Your points relative to the average # of points for your team this run
        • Your points relative to the average # of points that are historically obtained based on your team size
      • In this way, we are ensuring that players who do better than the rest of the team are suitably rewarded, but also that players who do better than average historically are rewarded.
  • Battle Royale changes:
    • Southern waiting area is now a safe-zone (not used as a waiting area typically, but staff sometimes teleport players into there)
    • Administrators can now set a custom countdown timer for how long players will spend in the waiting room.
    • Ring of life/Defence cape will no longer teleport you out of here (or any other tele blocked area)
    • You can now watch Battle Royale even if you are not participating! (Or have died)
      • Type ::watchbr to view the battle area.
        • You must be able to teleport, not already in the battle, and not in combat to be able to watch.
          • You can use the orb interface to move around the map.
  • Achievements which have been made easier:
    • On a Roll:
      • Previously: Reach a 5 player killstreak
      • Now: Reach a 3 player killstreak
    • Rolling Stone:
      • Previously: Reach a 15 player killstreak
      • Now: Reach a 6 player killstreak
    • Slaughterhouse:
      • Previously: Kill 50 random players
      • Now: Kill 30 random players
        • Additionally, you can now kill any players to fulfill this achievement, even if they are low risk.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Examine prices fix:
      • When examining certain items, sometimes the wrong alch prices would be shown.
    • Olm fix in Raids:
      • Falling crystals will now do damage as intended (bug from last update)

Be a cool idea.

Being realistic though, I'd rather see the big updates, construction etc before minor additions like this.

    • Experience rate

    • GP obtained form caskets, ensouled heads, etc set back to normal.
  • Classic mode bug fixes:
    • You can now loot other Classic players’ drops from NPCs.
    • Fixed Bob’s skilling supply shop
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Pulling out a noted Slayer staff (e) will no longer change it into the normal Slayer staff.

Hello everyone,

Classic Mode is now live! You can now login and create a new Classic account. Make sure to check out the competition information for a chance to win up to $350 in cash prizes and more over the next 7-9 days!'

Update: The Classic highscores are now online! Have a look to see who's topping the ranks:

Classic Highscores

http://www.alora.io/...-350-in-prizes/

  • Combat fixes:
    • Magic attack distance increased by 1 step. (10)
    • NPC aggressive distance fixed:
      • Default (for most npcs) has been reduced from 6 steps to 4 steps.
      • Magic axes/Zombie/Skeleton aggression reduced to 2 steps.
      • King black dragon aggressive distance increased to 10 steps from 6.
    • NPCs who have no way of reaching you will now end combat and stop facing you.
      • For example, if you are being attacked by Magic axes and you leave the axe hut, there is no path for the axe to reach you, so it will end combat with you.
  • Birds next changes:
    • The chance of getting a special nest (Eg. Clue nest, birds egg nest, gold ring nest) has been increased from 1/7 to 1/4 to make it more likely.
  • Skotizo bug fixes:
    • If you tried to summon Skotizo and he was already in the world it would reset your timer to 12 hours and not allow you to summon during that time, which was not intended.
    • The de-spawn message would show even on player-summoned Skotizos. This has been removed and will only show then the World-event Skotizo is defeated.
  • TzTok-Jad Slayer task blocking bug fixed:
    • Previously, you would still receive this task if blocked.
  • Armadyl dragonhide added to hard clue reward table
    • These hides were not on the hard clue reward table (an oversight on my part) and have been added.
  • Raids drop rates increased
    • Unique loot will now be more likely to receive.
  • Bloody chest rates increased:
    • The rate at which rare items are given has been increased by 10%.
    • Donators are now more likely to obtain extra items from the chest:
      • The chest usually gives 1-3 items, but donators will now have a chance at extra item(s):
        • Regular, Super and Extreme donators can have one extra items (up to 4 total, if very lucky)
        • Legendary and Uber can have two extra items (up to 5 total, if very lucky)
      • The chance of landing an extra item:
        • Regular: 5%
        • Super: 10%
        • Extreme: 20%
        • Legendary: 25%
        • Uber: 35%
      • Note:
        • Extra items rolls are individual of each other. For example, if you are an Uber donator, you have two chances at an extra item at 35% chance per roll. That means you have a ~17.5% chance of obtaining 2 extra items.
        • An in-game message in green will tell you when you hit 1/2 extra items.
  • Fixed Max cape requirement:
    • Farming was previously unnecessary to max in order to get the max cape. This has been fixed, and you will now need all skills to be 99 to get the cape.
    • This also fixes the “ has maxed out their skills!” bug.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Corporeal beast invincibility bug fixed.
    • Community manager/Veteran yell tag colors fixed.
    • You should now be able to continue writing your PMs while Smelting bars.
    • Jack lantern mask is now tradable.
    • You can no longer equip Barrows gear that is fully degraded (0) on the Equipment interface.
    • Gambler will now shout “View ::topic 15270 to see the gamble rules and ranks!” every so often.
    • Grimy Irit leaves can now be noted/unnoted.

  • Classic mode is now live!
    • Experience rate:
    • 5x across all skills
  • Experience bonuses:
    • 50% of the usual bonuses
    • Vote books can only be opened once every 12 hours.
  • Item-transfers between normal accounts:
    • Bonds can be transferred between normal accounts, but vote books can only be transferred between Classic players.
  • Decreased gold rate from:
    • Thieving, Crystal chest, Pest control, Money Caskets, Ensouled heads, Emblems, Shooting stars
  • Shop nerf:
    • Some shops have reduced items. For example, you cannot buy rune armour from any shop. Up to adamant is purchasable, though.
  • Donations are available, but only items from the Ironman shop can be purchased.
    • Additionally, some donation perks are nerfed.
  • Classic-only Clan chat:
    • If possible, Classic players will be entered into the “Classic” clan chat rather than the default “Alora” one.

Note2: We've made some changes to the Classic PvM competition in regards to the amount of points you received for different accomplishments. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the point structure!

#111195 Ogre Coffin Keys

Posted by Diva on 23 August 2017 - 02:18 AM

Support, pretty sure they have no use right now. Give ogre coffin keys use.

When unlocked, coffins provide mostly low-value loot, but are noted for their valuable bone drops.

^^ that would be nice to have ingame.

#110215 Bird Nests, Raids, and Karambwans

Posted by Harlem on 18 August 2017 - 04:54 AM

stop crying about raid drops, its fine as it is

Crushed nests are easy enough to obtain, their drops definitely shouldn't be changed. @Omicron

OP is right about raids, though. There have been hardly any drops since the update, so something obviously needs to get changed. I preferred the previous system.

I prefer this, cos a random can just get twisted bow 1kc on the previous system which is bs

I think there should be more methods to obtain bird nests. Ex: Crystal keys, slayer points, woodcutting, etc)

For raids, It just seems like it's impossible to get a drop. I have done solo raids, duo, 7-man etc. I have yet to even see any drops. Something just doesn't seem right.

ive seen like 6 drops since update from raids, system works pretty good

#110180 Bird Nests, Raids, and Karambwans

Posted by Extremedanny on 18 August 2017 - 02:07 AM

With my personal First-Hand experience with raids, the system seems to have flaws. In most cases players who drop 5k OR MORE points in a raid actually get less item quantities (such as uncuts, herbs, runes) than players in the 3-4k point range. I also had tested the points with point farming raids, and even then we did not see a single drop within the 10+ point farming raids we did. Just low quantities of loots, and it is true, there has only been one drop since the update has taken place and I have been doing 20-40 raids a day >_>

Ive gotten 2 drops since the update soo there has been more then 1 lol. Quanity wise I feel like it's the same as before just feels like less noobs get something.

#110174 Bird Nests, Raids, and Karambwans

Posted by Omicron on 18 August 2017 - 01:41 AM

@Iron Johnny

I'll look into the Raids rate and see what I can do. It's based on points way more than before so low point players who don't participate much will have a hard time getting anything, while active players with high points will have an easier time getting rewards.

The Karambwan update is tricky since simply making them stackable makes Karambwan way easier to fish, and if we were to add it as a fishing method and remove it from the shop.. well, as you can probably guess many people have already stacked them up in their bank in anticipation of this change. No guarantees yet.

Your bird nest suggestion is slightly lacking, though. Do you mean that they should be more common from Woodcutting, or that there should be more methods to obtain them?

#110098 Back-To-School Sale + OSGP Donation update

Posted by Omicron on 17 August 2017 - 03:07 PM

salebanner.gif

Hey guys,

The Back-To-School promotional sale is now live, which means you'll get 20% bonus tokens on all token purchases while the sale is active! Make sure to stock up on those extra tokens while you can  :)

Click here to browse the donation store

OSGP donation update: We are now accepting OSGP at a $1/1m rate again, increased from the previous $0.90/1m rate! This is a great time to make use of the bonus tokens, as they will apply to OSGP donations as well to give you more tokens than ever!

Note: For the bonus tokens, previous default token bonuses (Eg. 75 tokens on a $50 donation) are also still given with your purchase, they are simply added after the extra 20% is applied to the initial donation amount!

Cheers!

#109766 Classic Mode Announcement and Competition/Tournament (Over $350 in prize...

Classic Mode

With the massive support for Classic mode, and many of us still on Summer vacation, there’s no better time to release Classic mode than now! Lets dive right into it:

Classic mode is a game mode that is more challenging than other game modes — it has the lowest experience rate of any previous mode. It has trading restrictions like ironman modes, but here’s the kicker: Classic mode players can trade between each other, meaning a Classic-only economy will exist! This is a bit different than the usual Ironman mode which makes it slightly less of a solo game style.

We’re looking to release this game mode this weekend! The planned release date is 9:00 PM Eastern time on Saturday, August 19th!

FAQ:

  • What will be the experience rate?
    • 5x experience.
  • Will experience boosts (well of goodwill, wilderness bonuses, vote book bonuses, etc) apply to Classic mode accounts?
    • Most boosts will not be applicable to Classic mode players!
      • With that being said, vote books WILL grant extra experience, but can only be opened once every 12 hours.
  • Can I trade/stake other players?
    • You can only trade/stake other classic mode players. Of course, this means the Trading post is disabled for Classic mode players.
  • Will there be an icon in-game for Classic players?
    • Yes! An icon with two swords crossed will be shown in-game for Classic mode players.
  • Will shops be available?
    • Yes, although the items in the shops may be nerfed and adapted to suit the game mode.
  • Will I be able to use the donation store?
    • Yes, although it will be similar to the ironman store where you can only purchase cosmetic and mid-tier items.
    • Some donator perks will be nerfed on this game mode.
  • Are there any other things I should know about this mode?
    • Gold obtained from thieving will be at a lower rate than other game modes.
    • Bonds can be transferred between normal accounts, but vote books can only be transferred between Classic players.

Classic Mode Competition/Tournament

Huge thank to @uTorrent for organizing this event and coming up with the idea!

The release of Classic mode brings with it an exciting competition with huge prizes (Over $350 in cash, as well as many in-game prizes) to be won! To ensure that all players can participate, we have divided this competition into two sections:

  • Classic Competition ($150 prize):
    • The Classic competition is our way of rewarding the players who put the most effort into their Classic mode accounts. Here's how it works:
      • Point-based event:
      • This event will last 10 days from the release of Classic mode.
      • Assuming the release is on Saturday the 18th at 9pm, this means that the competitition will end on Monday, August 28th at 9pm.
    • Points are earned for the following achievements:
      • All recorded drops, monsters killed, total level, and experience gained throughout this time period will award points. The top three players with the most points at the stopping time win prizes!
    • Points earned for:
      • Rare drops:
      • Points are given based on drop rate. A whip with a D.R of 1/400 will award 400 points. Every consecutive whip gives 20% less points until 20% (20% is minimum).
      • There is a maximum of 2,000 points for any particular drop.
    • Achievements
    •          10 points per easy task completed
    •          45 points per hard task completed
    • Monsters killed:
      • One point per 10 NPCs killed
      • 8500 total NPCs killed / 10 = 850 points for monsters killed.
    • Total level:
      • For total level, 2 points will be awarded for every level obtained.
    • Number of 99s (combat and non-combat):
      300 points per 99.
    • Total experience:
      • For total experience, 10 points will be awarded per 1M experience obtained.
  • Notes:
    • For recorded drops, players MUST obtain proof (via picture/video) of the item(s) & record the date and server time (for proof).
      • Only high tiered items will be counted. For example, Leaf-bladed items would not be counted.
    • The points calculations are subject to change.
    • At the end of the week, players need to submit their own portfolio of rare drops/total levels/total experience. We will verify everything on our end to make sure that no player has cheated.
  • Rewards:
    • 1st Place:
      • $150 in cash OR $200 worth in tokens
    • 2nd Place:
      • 600 tokens OR 6 bonds
    • 3rd Place:
      • 400 tokens OR 4 bonds
  • Classic PvP Tournament ($200 prize):
    • Similar to the Ironman tournament we held months ago, this tournament will open for registration a few days before it is held, and players will battle it out in a fight-to-the-death until only one competitor remains! This type of battle will be very interesting to watch, as we will see what style of combat players will choose and which items they have brought to the battle after their week long grind. The last man standing will take the full $200 prize, although 2nd and 3rd places will receive alternative prizes as shown below:
      • 1st Place:
      • $200 in cash OR $250 worth of tokens
    • 2nd Place:
      • 800 tokens OR 8 bonds
    • 3rd Place:
      • 500 tokens OR 5 bonds
  • Rules:
    • The tournament will be 1v1 brackets. You must be registered before it begins.
    • You are limited to 9 Saradomin brews. Inventories will be checked before you fight, and you will be forced to stay within this limit.
      • We want the tournament to be fair and for the fights to last a reasonable amount of time, but not to take hours.
    • These rules are subject to change before the tournament begins.
      • A separate tournament thread will be created once registration opens.
  • Our very own @Lowkey will be live-streaming and commentating the event, so you can watch it all unfold live!
  • Schedule:
    • Tournament registration is undetermined, but will be announced soon. A new thread will be posted soon after the Classic mode release this weekend, wherein we will announce the exact time for the tournament.
    • As a rough estimate, it will be the weekend immediately after release (Between August 25-27) and will likely be held on the 27th of August.

Note: These two competitions are completely separate and you could choose to participate in one of them, both, or neither.

We hope you're as excited for this competition and game mode as we are, and we wish the best of luck to all who choose to participate in the competition/tournament.

Regards,
Omicron

#108468 Cave Horror expansion

Posted by Thunk on 12 August 2017 - 03:53 PM

The Alora community is always growing, and expansions like this would, and should, be looked at to improve the way we players get our gear.

Perhaps using a teleport to a central location of the greater number of spawns would help players as well.

Support, +1  :)

#108315 In regards to the Donator Zone suggestions

Posted by Z 3 r k 3 d on 12 August 2017 - 03:56 AM

Just came up with this. seems decent, spaced out and based in a non-mainland area.

my main issue with current zone is lack of mining (no addy/mith), no farming patch, and everything just looks like its been randomly thrown in (i mean those magic trees just look so out of place.)

So i figured i'd come up with something new?

The idea behind it being a non mainland area is just so people cant noclip their way here if they find a gltich of sorts.

The travel location at the top could potentially be a Teleport wizard to take you to various parts of the island
