#376898 MOTM addition

Posted by Real Pivo on 15 October 2020 - 11:45 AM

First of all, It's the little ideas like these that give me joy to read, as I respect the effort of putting this together and thinking on a larger scale than yourself. Unfortunately my friend, I don't have the "feeling" that this will spark any addition in the direction you're aiming at.

Sure, the implementation doesn't sound complicated, yet I'd personally like to see the focus on content for the long run.

With this I mean: Focus on known issues which have a lot of support, keep on track with up-coming OSRS content and improving the QOL overall.

In these past years, I've rarely paid attention to the MoM on the forums, don't think that would change with a statue in game.

I'll remain neutral, as it won't bother me to see it added, but would feel like a waste of coding time in my opinion.

Cheers,

Pivo

#336601 Revive - Fixing harpoons

Posted by Real Pivo on 11 February 2020 - 05:46 PM

Support given that it works like that in OSRS.

One thing I don't understand is you state the crystal harpoon gives 35% boost over a regular harpoon but only a 12.5% over dragon harpoon.

At the same time, you state the dragon harpoon gives a 20% boost over the regular harpoon. Shouldn't the crystal harpoon then be 15% more than the dragon or am I missing something?

I agree it looks strange but it's really how the wiki states.

Suppose it has to do with maintaining a balance between the two. Besides, even the 12.5% boost would perhaps seem a bit overkill considering we don't use charges for many items on Alora like OSRS does and stuff does not really degrade. With that being said, not my cup of tea tbh. I'll leave that topic open for the dev's.  :P

#336592 Revive - Fixing harpoons

Posted by Real Pivo on 11 February 2020 - 05:03 PM

Hello,

Before starting please, check the topic of Fiji Drip here.

The topic is still available within the suggestions but locked, tho no final statement has been given. (yet)

This is my attempt to revive/speed-up the suggestions related to the current harpoons in-game.

What is your suggestion?:
Make the current harpoons in-game match the same effects of catch rate and special attacks as in OSRS.

  • Dragon_harpoon.png?a09d3 The dragon harpoon is a wieldable harpoon that requires 61 Fishing to use and 60 Attack to wield, however the player cannot activate the special attack without wielding it.
    • It gives the player a 20% faster catch rate compared to the regular harpoon.
    • The dragon harpoon has a special attack, Fishstabber, that provides a visible +3 boost to Fishing. This consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy, though it cannot be used without the 60 Attack required to wield the harpoon.
  • Infernal_harpoon.png?241d4 The infernal harpoon, unboosted requirement of 75 fish and 85 cooking to create it with a smouldering stone.
    • 1/3 chance to cook your catch.
    • Same spec and catch rate as the regular variant.
  • Crystal_harpoon.png?41819 The crystal harpoon is an item used in Fishing. It requires 71 Fishing and Song of the Elves to create and use, with 50 Agility and 70 Attack required to wield it.
    • It possesses the same special attack as the dragon harpoon.
    • Has a 35% faster catch rate compared to a regular harpoon and 12.5% faster compared to dragon harpoon.
    • Players can create a crystal harpoon via a singing bowl by combining a dragon harpoon, 120 crystal shards and a crystal tool seed. Doing so requires level 76 Smithing and Crafting to sing the crystal (the levels can be boosted)

Source used:

OSRS Wiki

Is this in OSRS?:
Yes

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:
No, from what I could find the last harpoon update was during the update: [19/12/19] Christmas Giveaways, Sales, Events & more!
Quality of Life: Added harpoon/cage fishing spot to Piscarilius in Zeah

How would this benefit Alora?:
All other dragon/crystal equipment has it's special attack other than the harpoon.
Certain game modes may benefit greatly from the temporary +3 fishing boost.
With that being said...the increased catch rates of the dragon and crystal one will be in favor for all game modes.

With the release of nightmare of Ashihama and much other content which would be far more exciting for implementation, I still think it would be a nice QOL for the near future.
Feel free to correct any mistakes/add missing content made in this topic, only human after all.

Cheers

#332995 Cassidy Realism Update #2

Posted by Real Pivo on 22 January 2020 - 01:35 PM

Very nice progress made!

I like how you tackle all stats and rushed your spots in the hiscores even though that's really not my way of playing.

I like to max out my combat skills + slayer since (imo) take the longest but, reward you with a bunch of skilling suppliers and gear in the long run, for the remaining skills. Best of luck on your grind towards update #3!

#332660 Arclight Suggestion

Posted by Real Pivo on 20 January 2020 - 09:57 AM

OSRS WIKI:

Arclight provides a 70% increase in accuracy and damage when used against demonic creatures, effectively providing better damage output than an abyssal tentacle against these targets.

Arclight can be made by using Darklight on the altar in the centre of the Catacombs of Kourend while 3 ancient shards are in the inventory. It initially has 1000 charges and gains an additional 1000 charges for every 3 shards added, and can hold a maximum of 10,000 charges. One charge is consumed for each successful attack when using Arclight, with the exception of special attacks. If all the charges are consumed, it will revert back to Darklight.

Funny how some want Alora content to be aligned as close to OSRS as possible, until they have grinded for something and feel elite about it. Might as well throw the abby tent in the shop for the same amount of points and remove it from the drop table, lol.

With all fun aside, and stated in older suggestions in regards of this topic, yes you have my support.

#332652 Revising declined suggestions

Posted by Real Pivo on 20 January 2020 - 08:53 AM

What is your suggestion?: Implementing a possibility to revise declined suggestions in the past, that are being suggested over and over again from time to time by the community.

Is this in OSRS?: No, as we handle the implementation of suggestions on Alora in a different way.

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: No, as they were all based on polling, which seemed an insufficient way to approve/decline content, as it could be rigged in various ways.

How would this benefit Alora?
Sometimes our suggestions are approved/declined without additional feedback behind the reasoning.

For example: The option to implement a ground overlay plugin similar to RuneLite was declined several times. With that being said, it was also requested several times after that, where at one point it was approved.

I understand that we cannot implement all suggestions and have to take into account all different aspects in regards of prioritization, quick-wins (QOL), new content and so on. However, there are also some real fine suggestions laying around which are being declined, but requested by the community over and over again from time to time.

It would be nice if there would be a sum-up of the most declined suggestions by the end of each month. This would give it a revive and one more shot to be discussed/polled by the majority of the community.

Pro's:
  • A possibility to have declined suggestions implemented which are so sought after by the community.
  • Not having to deal with declining the same suggestions over and over again.

Con's:
  • Very time consuming for staff members to gather, so said list mentioned above.
  • Finding another way to actually discuss these kind of suggestions, as polling might be inaccurate or can cause "rigging" in the long run.

Thanks for reading and please, share your thoughts.

#331023 Catacombs of Kourend SKotizo

Posted by Real Pivo on 10 January 2020 - 04:54 AM

Don't really see the problem to be honest.

I'm not a big fan of Skotizo and rarely slay it.

With that being said, there is no cool down timer in OSRS as far as, I am aware.

Skotoz pet is 1/65 and the claw 1/25 according to the OSRS Wiki.

With the rare drop table being taken out for the catacombs instance, I see no reason why it shouldn't be the same as OSRS.

However, I can understand any limitations for the wildy version with rare drops.

Support!

#313719 Alternate experience rates.

Posted by Real Pivo on 11 September 2019 - 07:27 AM

Hey brother,

Great template used for your suggestion, I really enjoyed reading.

However, out of personal experience, this will mostly likely become a never ending story of unstatisfaction in the long run.

  • With the implementation of choice between: 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x and 30x EXP modes, more and more suggestions will keep flying in. This would just be the start..
  • I feel like this would seperate the community in even more "departments" than we currently have.
  • Also, with the choice between 8 existing game modes, I really don't see the "big or small" difference you will experience with these EXP rates, would it really be worth it in the long run compared to the game modes we already have?

Apologies, no support from me. I feel like we have a full bowl of candy in regards of game modes and this will just prevent the lid from closing properly.

#313029 Ground items expansion - QOL

Posted by Real Pivo on 06 September 2019 - 03:29 AM

Hello,

First of all, my apologies in advance.

Some may experience my suggestion below, to be similar to ones suggested in the past.

I have browsed through threads to find any pending ones, upon which I could support, but those are either closed or denied.

Issue: During PvM (slayer mostly) a majority of players experience their screen to be flooded while the option: displaying ground items is toggled or simply miss out on drops when disabled.

The past: Several suggestions have been made to implement the "highlight" function found in 3rd party clients, such as Runlite/OsBuddy. This would allow the player to customize the font colour of items, filter out certain items or display specific ones.

Rejected: From what I understood, this was redjected due to the fact that it is not a standard function in OSRS. Furthermore, those plugins were designed for OSRS and implementing them on Alora may be more complicated.

Personal opinion: While Alora strives to keep its content as close as possible to OSRS we should not forget that, in the end of the day we already have several functions that are not standardized in OSRS. We're a private server after all.

Suggestion: Rather than implementing a whole plugin, would it be an idea to expand the current ground item option?

  • A second option which would state: "Hide ground items except..."
  • In this box we could then fill in drops we would like to have displayed in a comma format like: "Tanzanite Fang, Magic Fang, Uncut Onyx, Serpetine Visage"
  • The box could have a limit of "x" amount of characters. I believe this would be easier to implement for development / server load. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to replace previous drops with new ones when switching between NPC's you're killing.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Pivo
