My Problem with Staff 2

Next Thread

Now, this is a story all about how group

ironman got flipped-turned upside down.

And I'd like to take a minute

Just sit right there

I'll tell you how an admin rucked up group iron man.

We start with a guy.  Let's call him Bob.

Bob's a regular player who just started GIM.

He donates to the server; then joins the staff team.

He works his way up from server support

to player moderator and finally admin.

For his hard works, he's paid in tokens,

which exchanges for GIM removal tickets.

Putting 2 and 2 together,

Bob realizes what he found.

The cheat code to GIM

As admin, no one would question

or dare think twice

about what he's doing.

Buy GIM supplies.

Buy GIM bank.

Then when Bob quits,

sell it all back.

Who even cares?

Bob's not taking advantage of a loophole and playing ironman in a way that wasn't intended... or anything like that...

sdc.jpg

Now, in 2024 he's retired from staff.

After selling GIM bank, he claims it's too late

to stop the trading of group ironman banks.

d4d6f7452028e521ec6ba526962f0849.png

Moral of the story?

Want to be able to trade on GIM?

No problem, just become staff.

Also Bob (in 2020)

420a9bffb8aba867a6479a9c46fe8e74.pngb968a3e3a37d0e3c5e2e5576b8782dff.png

To the many staff and community members who think that the damage is already done...

5046505063a2c11cb305a5cc6763c428.png

6d7b2746572bdfb23cf5570a8507a6a1.png

You are acknowledging that there is an integrity issue here with people not playing the game the way it was intended.  So as staff and leaders of the community, what are you going to do about it?

1b03c03c54e2e55bd3e79e67ab708bdd.png

Option 1: Fix it - how? just say no more trading GIM banks guys

Option 2: Give up on it - merge it with normie/classic

Either way, there should not be a group or elite ironman bank trading economy.

Ironman is in the name for pete's sake.  It's blatantly obvious that trading of GIM banks is an abuse of game mechanics.  If you want to leave and join another GIM group because your teammates quit, I don't have a problem.  Do it.  But if you're deliberately trying to sell GIM items or buy GIM bank, that should be treated as a punishable offense for trying to violate ironman integrity (like RWT).

@Foxxi said it it best...

e10f2b2d8297a0923c6eb46c3b768fdc.png

So to summarize it up for you guys...

My problem with staff here is -> they don't see how ironman bank trading is problematic

And if they do -> they aren't taking any action to restore that integrity -> instead Alan has to bring this topic up and deal with flame from staff and ex-staff.

At the very least, they could moderate the game suggestions better.

"In the past few days, literally every report has come from your threads. " - Admin @H

gRAAoVa.png

Response -> Well that's because I'm doing my part and reporting things that I think are against the rules.

That's not an excuse to not look into it and give each report fair judgment.

Do your job as forum moderators.  In particular, I'm referring to Logan and Not Shadow.

As for H, I have to give the man credit.  H is an exemplary staff member.  He sets a good example of how to handle game suggestions on forums.   While we may not always agree, I respect the way he explains his rationale without taking things off topic.  The man was up at 2 am responding to customer feedback.  He responded to each one of the points I brought up without giving any flame/hate/name calling.  He also asked for clarification on points he didn't understand – unlike To gain, who would usually take the my way or the highway; i dont care about what your way is, 'end of story' route.
44d0faa1b30e82e15a0d53d7357dcdd2.png?ex=

As for admin Mufasa, that guy can learn a lot about how to moderate a game suggestion from H.

This comment came from a game suggestion on -> should we allow trading of group/elite ironman banks?

Here's how admin Mufasa responded.  He brought up Realism for some reason?

I expect admin to be able to distinguish what's on and off topic for a suggestion post.

1970907095e2e5da328e2664ab7f9c4d.png?ex=

1970907095e2e5da328e2664ab7f9c4d.png?ex=

Lastly, I want to address why I told staff to ruck off when instructed to make a bug report.

75ea8fd51c7de976aceefc1e6537aee9.png

I do not regret that and would tell staff to ruck off again, any day.  Why?

Because their system of bug reports sucks.  Take the tecu salamander trees for example.

image.png?ex=6658ec9d&is=66579b1d&hm=010

image.png?ex=666a101d&is=6668be9d&hm=e2f

They've been bugged for 3 weeks now.  There's not 1 post from staff educating community members on the activities that are currently down.

I could make a bug report like staff requested, but that's a waste of time.  Why?

Only 1 person needs to make the bug report.  Make it public knowledge that something is currently broken -> that way 10 players don't all need to waste 1 minute of their lives making the same freaking bug report.

So how do you make bug reports (that don't cause exploitable damage) public?  -> you post it in game suggestion where the entire community can see.

However, when I put in 30 minutes of my time to be that person, take one for the team, and put that knowledge out there in game suggestions -> how do staff respond?

They delete my game suggestion -> claiming it's a bug -> then they tell me to stop making game suggestions that are bugs and to instead make bug reports.

When I try to tell them that bug reports aren't public and you don't need 10 people all making the same bug report, they don't seem to understand.  Not to mention, I was perm forum banned for the last year or so, where I couldn't even make bug reports.  So yeah, that's why I will continue to tell staff to ruck right off if they tell me to make a bug report.  It's not personal.  I just refuse to make bug reports.  Not like I'm getting paid tokens like staff for writing them up.  By the way, you had me perm forum muted for over a year.  Can you really be surprised when you get a whole bunch of game suggestions from me after you unmute me?

a7c7fb2814e589181d625582b5e971b9.png

As for why I like to joke about To gain.  The guy sent me to port sarim jail for what?  playing the game in a way that wasn't intended

I hit nex 1 time with ZCB, then camouflaged as a penguin for the rest of the kill in Nex Mass.

I even checked with To gain via PMs beforehand to make sure that this wasn't against the game rules.

In fact, I reported other players that would run in last second, deal minimum damage, and snipe nex killcount after 20 seconds of work.

Staff rejected the report and said that was allowed.

Then when I do it, I'm the one that gets punished.

Here's my advice to staff.  We are just players.  We don't make the game.  We play the game.

Don't blame the player.  Blame the game.

If staff have a problem with me playing the game in a way that wasn't intended (by just doing bare minimum damage on nex), why don't they have a problem with GIM bank trading where people are playing the entire game mode in a way that wasn't intended?  Why don't they blame how low they set the minimum damage to get loot threshold at nex?

Perhaps it's because staff are paid in tokens which incentivizes them to buy/sell ironman banks with the GIM removal tickets that can be purchased via the very tokens they earn from staffing.

Lastly, there's the case of ex-staff Ivy.  Ivy needs to stop being so closed mined.

On one hand, Ivy will tell you -> you shouldn't really care what other players are doing as this doesn't affect your account directly.

9a220eca366cf59150b2d0d6c6a4f812.png

On the other hand, Ivy will tell you -> this is the 'Alora' community forums -> everyone should get a say in whether Realism is merged

4b44b415d1fc961c4d51f2669d286c6d.png

Ivy will provide the reasoning that merging realism will attract new players -> then, disregard the entire existing community it would uproot.

Similarly, I can argue that fixing GIM integrity will attract new players -> how many players don't play GIM because they know all the endgame players just buy/sell bank?

Next, Ivy will explain that the server needs money from selling GIM removal tickets.  Without that it wouldn't be profitable.

To that, I'd like to say -> if you stop the buying/selling of banks of GIM/EIM, the people that want to buy bank and speedrun the game will turn to realism.  This will create more investment in Realism.  More rank tickets sold on the realism TP.  How come?  Because people need gp to buy realism bank.  What's my point?

Ex-staff Ivy can benefit from lightening up a bit and being less closed minded.

Extra cringe just for Gim Crohn  :D

Red text just for Realmungard

Welcome to the long awaited Alora's Cooking NPC. The npc that @Lowkey has pleaded to be added to the game for the past 4 years! Below you will find a breakdown of requirements / prices.

I would like to note that this npc will reward 0 experience for any fish cooked and is purely to speed up cooking for pvming/pking.

Suggesting its located at the Cooking Guild west of Varrock and East of Edgeville(this can be decided)

wiA3QIz.png

Normal player: 4,000gp per noted raw fish.

rZE4YFh.pngDonator: 3,750gp per noted raw fish.

OghLeN2.pngSuper donator: 3,500gp per noted raw fish.

PoJKJm3.pngExtreme donator: 3,250gp per noted raw fish.

mh5z6SW.pngLegendary donator: 3,000gp per noted raw fish.

ywsuhTT.pngUber donator: 2,750gp per noted raw fish.

rAoruGL.pngWVdXhGX.pngIf1Lhrk.pngMaster donator+: 2,500gp per noted raw fish.

Requirements:

  • Varrock Elite Diary completed
  • Cooking Gauntlets.
  • 100m xp in cooking skill achieved
    • The reason this is part of the requirement is because the Varrock Diary is one that is completed fairly easily and we want to make sure that this npc does not take away from the initial part of the game and must go through say a "probationary period" where you actually have to fish/cooking everything you obtain, and 100m was a fair milestone instead of saying 200m that everyone already gets.

2nd Proposed Requirements: 22/4/2023

  • Varrock + Lumbridge & Draynor Elite Diaries Completed (Both)
  • Cooking gauntlets equipped
  • 99 Cooking
  • Remove 100m cooking xp req from 1st proposed requirements
    • After discussion the 100m cooking xp req may be unfair for game modes such as realism/elite/classic to obtain. Instead the completion of 2 elite diaries that have high level REQ and locked behind quest completion is a fitting choice. As the person who mentioned this to me we also want to highlight the "Gold Sink" factor and make sure its accessible to increase its use, increasing how much gp it deletes.

Pros:

  • More bossing, less cooking.
  • Gold sink.

Cons:

  • No xp gain.

#479764 Iron man PVP Keys

Posted by Chapo on 21 February 2024 - 12:58 PM

What is your suggestion?: My suggestion is for ironmen to be able to receive PVP keys. As it currently stands any loot PKD by an ironman is instantly destroyed. On OSRS as of not to long ago wilderness keys were introduced...

For ironmen if you pked any other player and had purchased wilderness keys for 10m at ferox enclave you were able to then receive a PVP Key which holds the loot of the other player. If an ironman doesn't open the key, he is able to then die to its main account and transfer the loot to the main account. If the ironman DOES open the key the ironman then has to destroy the loot because the key is opened and can no longer be transferred as well as the iron can not take the items. This would work the same for realism as they also don't get items, same function as irons.

I do want to say there was a suggestion similar to this but wasn't specific to keys just to loot dropping on ground. Also this one but kind of short and sweet: https://www.alora.io...ys-for-ironmen/ Found here >
https://www.alora.io...123-wilderness/

Is this in OSRS?: YES

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: NO

How would this benefit Alora?: I have seen a LOT of well built ironman accounts that have PK gear and currently roam wilderness still being apart of PVP due to being able to tier up Emblems. I know wilderness isn't very active and this isn't an idea for reviving wilderness, but this would definitely give a bit more motivation for ironmen who pvm to actually fight back against pvpers and possibly get a big loot in return. This could bring even a little more activity to the wilderness.

As to the loss to an obviously very nice moneysink for the eco another one may have to be introduced or thought of.

Please be open minded and thanks for reading.

NLlg1QI.png

DKYFoHI.png Founder is the owner of the server and its website. The founder has full power and is in charge of the server along with handling donation support tickets, donations and releasing updates.

bzGL4jN.png

DKYFoHI.png Community Manager's are responsible for the staff team. They are obligated to manage the staff team and deal with any staff related issues. It is the second most important role after the Founder.

AdManagerNew.png

DKYFoHI.png Advertisement Manager's primary responsibility is to handle Alora's public advertisement. They are responsible for Alora's social media handling, Youtubers, and off-site activities.

79BBPyw.png

DKYFoHI.png Administrators are members of staff who have access to in-game and forums Admin Control Panels. They handle most support tickets (2FA resets & password resets, etc) that cannot be handled by Global Moderators. Administrators will assist players in complex situations & administrate the server/forums and help lower staff out.

42KH3Vp.png

DKYFoHI.png Event Managers are responsible for executing a variety of events every week. In doing so, they make sure that the events that they host are up to par in terms of creativity, fairness, player-contentment, and originality. Event Managers are members of staff who are focused on organizing the weekly events, tournaments etc. Their aim is to ensure that the community gets involved into the server activity.

y1x3y5O.png

sb5CFxz.png Global Moderators are members of staff who are focused on moderating both in-game and forums (Forum & Server moderator combined). Global Moderators have to handle appeals, player reports, monitor in-game/forums, forward any serious issues to Administrators and guide Game Moderators as they essentially are the right-hand of administrators.

V6b6ThX.png

m47GP7t.png Senior Moderators are a step-up from Game Moderators. They essentially have the same tasks, but additionally they are responsible for ensuring that forums are kept clean by dealing with forum reports, issue warnings and monitor published content along with their previous game moderator duties.

They aim to monitor the server, watch over the Support section frequently, give out in-game punishments, deal with appeals, player reports, in other words, keep the community clean and safe for everyone meanwhile helping out the players.

sDhYLJF.png

hDNR4Y0.png Server Supports are the lowest ranks of staff. They barely have any power as their goal is to assist the community, answer questions in help clan chats, personal messages etc. Other duties include helping players with account recoveries, rank transfers and forum award requests.

They are in charge of regular graphic designers and are entitled to rank them when appropriate. Official Graphic Designers also have a separate set of rules that they must follow here.

#478819 HCIM Safe Deaths

Posted by Only Farms on 04 February 2024 - 01:58 PM

What is your suggestion?: Make CG and ToB unsafe deaths for HCIM.

Is this in OSRS?: Yes

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: No

How would this benefit Alora?: Should be consistent across Hardcore game modes and it is this way on OSRS as well.

#478854 HCIM Safe Deaths

Wouldn't be fair to new HCs given that there's been years for HCs to gather these items with safe deaths. I support but it should've done forever ago.

This month we have some great interviews from Moe & R e i. Enjoy the read!

HWhat is one of your accomplishments you're most proud of?

Moe: I was going to make this answer Alora related, but I will actually reply to this in question 3 as this seems like it is more in general. I think my favorite accomplishment in life so far is having built real online side hustles to generate a real income instead of working the classic 9-5. I hope to get back on that track later, but right now my focus is Alora!

HWhat is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

Moe: TRAVEL or Psychdelics (SAFELY/CHECK HEALTH FIRST), Maybe both? Seeing the world and experiencing other cultures/people for yourself I think is huge, and it sort of connects with psychdelics. In the sense that we are all connected, and in the end we are here for a short time to try to live a fulfilling life together until we go back to where we started!

HWhat is your most memorable moment while playing Alora?

Moe: I have made many memorable moments here at Alora, thankfully to all you beautiful souls I have gotten to meet. So I will answer this with joining the staff team, as it has given me the opportunity to be a part of something much bigger. A loving community in a stupidly addicitng game we all call home.

HWhat do you do in your spare time apart from play Alora?

Moe: For the past 3-4 months as most of you may have noticed, I have been a little less active. I have been busy with IRL problems, most have been sorted now and I will finish with a surgery end of this month. Which is basically what all my spare has been going to (doctors). Before that my average day consisted of meeting up with friends to go out, turning up of course, expanding my online gigs, investing in crypto, & playing FIFA/Yu-Gi-Oh on PS5.

HIf you were given $10,000, what would you do with it?

Moe: Invest it into another online business, I don't think these days I would use money for anything other than trying to make more money with it. The beautiful thing about the online world and the reality these days, you can make money out of ANYTHING! Just get creative, all you have to do is create demand for a service/product you can easily do yourself (in any market)!

Next up is R e i

HWhat is one of your accomplishments you're most proud of?
R e i: I don't usually speak about it, but my most proud accomplishment, was beating cancer, It was during a very low point in my life with depression, family issues and all that and to top it all off being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer was something that borderline almost killed me, not because of the severity of such cancer because it was thankfully caught on very early, but the stress and mental toll it took on me, that a certain instance i thought about taking my own life, thankfully I sought help, got said help and still am here today, healthier and a happy person.

H: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
R e i: Travelling, visit a new country, there's so much out there to see in the world, a lot of beautiful place to see and enjoy all in ones capabilities naturally. I had the chance to visit a friend in Hong Kong and it was an amazing experience for me, being someone from Europe, travelling so far into the Asian continent was a beautiful and enjoyable experience for myself and I got to see a new culture, try out new foods and visit their awesome casinos  :P I think life is best lived when you have the possibility to go to new places, try new things and just enjoy yourself in general.

HWhat is your most memorable moment while playing Alora?
R e i: I would definitely say becoming a staff member, I've had been apart of the community for awhile around the time, I decided to try and become apart of the team, although I wasn't exactly a very friendly player back then, I feel like I did reform to some degree and that enabled me to join a lot of great people at the time, even tho I have a lot of regrets about that past.

HWhat do you do in your spare time apart from play Alora?
R e i: Have been into coding lately so definitely that, working out, spending a lot of my time with friends and family is something that i've started to do a lot more this past year because i see both as equally important and spending a lot of time infront of the computer is not something that I personally enjoy anymore. Games wise, I am very addicted sadly to league of legends and horror games, survival ones more specifically I just find those absolutely engaging as fuck to play and sometimes lose track of time.

HIf you were given $10,000, what would you do with it?
R e i: I would give it to my mom, I work very hard to make sure that she doesn't need to work and deserves to enjoy life, sadly my stepdad died 2 years ago on new years day and she hasn't been the same since, so I put a lot of attention towards her care and quality of life, so i think 10k would go a long way as to take her to a few places and make sure she gets the life she deserves.

#477045 Add Items Purchased From Pk Point Shop to Col Log

Posted by Radagon on 11 January 2024 - 08:41 PM

What is your suggestion?:

If you're not already aware, items purchased from the pk point shop are not added to your collection log. On the other hand, items purchased from the vote shop are added to your collection log. I'm suggesting we update the pk point shop to function like the vote shop. It would be a nice QoL update.

Is this in OSRS?:

N/A

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:

Nope!

How would this benefit Alora?:

Would be consistent with other shops on Alora. Would be a nice QoL change.

#475664 Add option for Cox scaling without alt accounts

Posted by Chaimedb on 27 December 2023 - 06:35 AM

What is your suggestion?:  To add and option (maybe on the door?) for Cox to scale the raid without needing alt accounts

Is this in OSRS?: yes

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: not that i know of

How would this benefit Alora?: QOL for people that like doing Cox
