Promotions:

Error has been promoted to Administrator.

Mewtwo has been promoted to Server Moderator.

Ramon has been promoted to Server Moderator.

Poor Level 3 has been promoted to Server Support.

 

Resignations: 

6ixKid has resigned from Server Moderator. 

 

Demotions:
I just can has been demoted from Server Support due to inactivity. We'll see where he went when he comes back and work from there.

Scenery has been demoted from his Forum Moderator position.

 

Congrats to those promoted, and best of luck to those gone.

I've seen this suggestion before, but forgot if it got declined, or accepted. It should be prioritized in my opinion because people want to play RSPS for the fun PvP/Gambling aspects that they couldn't have had on OSRS. Some love the competition in the Hi-Scores as well, and others the achievement of doing everything on their own (Ironman game modes). This is literally the perfect way to balance all of these aspects, while maintaining everything else the game provides. Omicron has put a ton of effort into updates, and was the first RSPS with raids, and that itself is a huge feat. I wouldn't doubt that he could pull this off, and people underestimate how much this could increase Alora's player base. Very underlooked suggestion, should be prioritized considering the amount of content Alora already offers.

I don't know how well Omni can develope, but he has to be well above average to get this far.

If it is only himself coding it may take a while, but it wouldn't be hard to actually do; just very time consuming.

There's a lot of different ways to go about it as well. You don't have to have a 2nd world (which I'm assuming is what he thinks he would have trouble with/supporting), perhaps you could make a new account on the main world and do it that way?

 

But yea, like you said this would really bring people to the server.

If he isn't working on anything else after construction he should perhaps really look into doing this.

That would be really cool.

Maybe not 14-18 days. Seems a little long being a private server and if it does get big it would distract from the main world.

 

Last Man Standing would also be a nice addition. 

Pking is probably the most popular thing about Runescape Private Servers..following staking and then onto PvM ofc.

Theres only very few servers that actually have or had a DMM world but the content was so outdated and there very minimum players that would play so it made it a huge waste of time.

I recommemd or suggest there be a DMM world for people that like that competition and a sort of a race you could say. It could be same rules plus owner self preference as OSRS.

The duration could be 14-18 days long..after take the top 100-500 players(depending on how many play) out andput them in a 3-7 day finals and last hour use the fog or just place the finalists in an area like say..the fight arena or the gnome stronghold...

I thought this would be a cool suggestion.

It's very unfortunate to see @Jare resign from his position. You have given a huge impact overall and the server would never be where it is if you weren't here. Thank you for everything you have done to make Alora a better place.

Promotions:

3rdage has been promoted to Server Moderator.

casual has been promoted to Server Moderator.

Iron Divine has been promoted to Server Support.

Monaco has been promoted to Server Support.

I just can has been promoted to Server Support.

Tabor has been promoted to Server Support.

Transfers:

Sheep has been transferred to the forum moderation team, he is going on an internship and therefore his ingame activity will drop quite a bit. 
Twist bows has been transferred back into the server moderation team after finishing up his exams, and being able to return to ingame duties once again.

 

Resignations: 

Jare has decided to step down from his administrator rank, but by no means does this mean he will no longer be taking part in the administration duties that we carry out behind the scenes, it does mean that he will no longer be carrying out in-game duties that are found in the administrator duties.

 

I would like to thank him personally, he's provided input on countless issues that have come up, and sometimes given me insight on issues that I was unaware of at the time, as we were handling them. He's also provided great input on all past, and current staff members and I am truly grateful for all the work that he has done for Alora and building the staff team with me and other administrators. 

Now this may sound that he is no longer taking part in those activities; he will be but these are mostly things that happen behind the scenes and therefore I am giving credit to where it is due, but our journey does not end here and hopefully we can see him return to the administrator team in the future. 

 

Saint Lucia has resigned from the global moderation team due to coming to a point where he was burnt out of Alora, we all have those periods in which we struggle to find the motivation to play. 

 

James has resigned from his server moderator position due to irl problems. He's been a great asset on the team for the time he's been here and we hope to maybe work with again someday. Until then, we wish him the best of luck and hope things work out.

 

Demotions:
Conor has been demoted from Server Support due to inactivity.

• Once open, type in "getmac"

• Select System Preferences from the Apple Menu at the top left of your screen
• Choose Wi-Fi from the list of interfaces on the left and click the advanced button
• Choose the Hardware tab, under that you will see the MAC address of your wireless card

 

For Linux Users:

• As the root user or user with appropriate permissions
• Type "ifconfig -a"
• From the displayed information, find "eth0" (this is the default first Ethernet adapter)
• Locate the number next to the HWaddr. This will be your MAC address

Lots of new ironmen have no idea they can trade with "paul" west of edge bank to get certain important items for an ironman.

 

They try to trade w/ bob and other npc's which they cannot located just northwest of edge bank and they receive this dialogue. This leads many of them to believe they cannot use any shops. I'm aware there's an anouncement that goes off every so often letting ironmen know they can trade w/ Paul, but this suggestion below will help regardless

 

 

The chat log should be changed to tell ironmen players that they can speak to "paul" just west of edge bank.

 

Suggestion:

 "As an ironman, you cannot do this, ironmen may trade with Paul, just west of edge bank in the next house over just south of here)

 

Almost every new ironman seems to end up asking this question, and this would help quite a bit.

Alongside yesterday’s update to HD mode, some highly requested bug fixes have been implemented — particularly the trading and bank bug fixes which affected some players negatively. Lastly, a few new pieces of content, such as Broadcasts and the Corporeal beast instance are now available!
 
We’re still working hard on Construction, but we figured some time off that to fix some bugs and provide a bit of new content wouldn’t hurt. Enjoy!

 

 

May 23 hot fixes:

• Fixed spell book bug
  • Additionally, Tome of fire will now show “*” infinite fire runes on the spellbooks
• Fixed broadcast spam
• Fixed XP rates which were slightly bugged from the previous update
• Added Amulet of the damned to:
  • Mystery box
  • Super mystery box
  • PK Shop ~ 4760 PKP
• Defender drop rate increased - doubled from previous rate
• Dragon defender (or) will now go to the lost items shop. It can be re-purchased for 300k gp (200k for regular defender)
• Fixed instance timer showing 30 mins and then changing to 60 once it reaches 0. It will now show 1 hour, 30 mins first as intended.
• Fixed Corporeal beast instance bugged npc
• Dark bow speed decreased:
  • It has come to our attention that the Dark bow was 1 tick too fast on all styles compared to OSRS.
    • It is now 4.8 seconds (8 ticks) on all styles except for rapid, where it is 4.2 seconds (7 ticks).

 

 

Updates:

• Skotizo changes:
  • Skotizo drop rates were far too difficult in the previous update for the Dark claw and Skotos pet.
    • These rates have been increased by x100, and are now roughly 1.4% and 4%. 
• Amulet of the damned effects added:
  • When paired with Barrows equipment:
    • Dharok’s set:
      • 25% chance of recoiling 15% of the damage taken.
        • Stackable with Vengeance / Ring of recoil.
    • Verac’s set:
      • Additional +4 Prayer bonus when wearing this set with the amulet (on top of the Amulet’s +3 bonus.)
    • Torag’s set:
      • Player’s wearing this set with the amulet will have their Defence increased by 1% for every hitpoint missing.
    • Guthan’s set:
      • The healing effect of Guthan’s set will be able to heal you up to 10 hitpoints above your base hit points level.
        • For example, if your base hitpoints is 99, you can heal up to 109 with Guthan’s effect.
    • Karil’s set:
      • 25% chance of dealing two hitsplats with Karil’s crossbow (and set), the second hit being half the damage of the first.
    • Ahrim’s set:
      • 25% chance of dealing a hit with 30% increased damage. (Must be using Ahrim’s staff as well unfortunately)
• Miscellaneous:
  • Dagannoth supreme drops fixed:
    • Yew logs & Maple logs would drop a large amount that were united.
      • These will now drop noted instead.
• Purple slayer helmet changes:
  • It will now go to the Lost items manager upon death.
• Dragon defender (or) is now obtainable!
  • You can obtain the ornament kit from either:
    • Vote shop ~ 180 points
    • From any type of Mystery box!
• Void buy-back price has been increased.
  • PKing in the Wilderness with Void items should carry some sort of risk — which is why we’ve increased the prices on those items by 5x.
    • Most items went from 200k -> 1M, but the Elite void went from 400k -> 2M.
    • This means that if the buy-back for a void item is 1m, the PKer will get a 500k coin drop for that item.
• Font of Consumption fix:
  • If you give your Unsired to the Font of Consumption and received a Bludgeon piece that you already have in your inventory or bank, you will be rewarded a different Bludgeon piece instead. (The one that you don’t have — if possible)
• Corporeal beast combat changes:
  • Fixed a bug where you could stand under Corp and not be attacked
  • Fixed a few other miscellaneous combat mechanics
• Corporeal beast instance room is now available!
  • Right-click the Corporeal beast’s tunnel entrance to create an instance.
    • The cost is 5m for 90 mins.
      • Donator rank bonuses apply to this at the same rate as other instanced rooms.
• Instance changes:
  • All existing instances have been extended to 90 mins rather than 60, though the price has remained unchanged.
  • You can no longer join/create an instance through the entrance object if you are already within one.
• Forum updates:
  • Hardcore ironman can now view the “Staff members online” sidebar block.
  • All groups will now see the “Time spent online” info in a player’s post bit (HCIM, UIM, Event manager and CM were unable to)
• Warriors guild fixes:
  • Entrance to the cyclops room is now fixed.
  • Fixed “You have run out of tokens.” Dialogue NPC
    • Instead of Kamfreena, it was showing a different npc’s face.
  • Dragon defenders are now more likely to obtain than before.
    • Previous rate: 70% chance for Rune defender, 30% chance for Dragon defender
    • Current rate: 50% chance for Rune defender, 50% chance for Dragon defender
      • +10% higher chance for Dragon if Super donator+
• Wilderness item drops fixed:
  • Items such as the Ecumenical key and Looting bag will no longer drop outside of the Wilderness.
• Wilderness combat bug fix:
  • Players who have just logged in and are still on the welcome screen were previously unattackable, but this has been changed so that if they are attacked, their welcome screen is closed automatically.
• Item fixes:
  • Dragon claws:
    • Exchange value increased (to protect over other items which should be worth less(eg. Heavy ballista))
  • Custom item additions:

      • Animations added and are now tradable.
  • Items made tradable:
    • Gravedigger outfit is now tradable.

• Bank bug fix:
  • A bug which allowed you to deposit an item into a full bank, which made the item fully disappear, and also messed up the order of items in your bank, has been fixed.
• Trading bug fix:
  • When trading a stackable item that would go over the max amount that the other player has, sometimes it would not count the other player’s amount properly.
    • Eg. If you were trying to trade 2b GP to another player who already had 2b, the extra gp would simply disappear.
      • This is now checked for on the first trade screen, and if the amount would go over the maximum of 2.147m, it would not allow the trade to go through.
  • Additionally, both the “You don’t have enough inventory space” message and the “Other player doesn’t have enough inventory space” messages will show to both players to make it clear that the trade cannot be accepted on either end.
• Items on death fix:
  • When dying with untraceable items to an NPC, some items would de spawn faster than others. This has been fixed.
• Pest control shop updated:
  • Runner hat has been added for 60 tokens.
  • Runner boots have been added for 60 tokens.
  • Penance gloves have been added for 50 tokens.
  • Granite body has been added for 40 tokens.

[Client updates]

• Line wrapping in chatbox:
  • Chatbox messages that are too long to fit in the given width will now be split onto a new line!
    • This applies to all chatbox messages, including yells, clan chat messages, etc.
      • Example below featuring one of @F 8's most iconic moments.
• Ground texture support on HD:
  • HD is now more like 2008 RuneScape’s original HD release, with texture support for the ground (grass, stone pavement, etc) to give it a more high-definition feel. We were able to export these textures from the original HD release on RS in 2008 to match it perfectly.
    • As some people have gotten used to the previous HD, we’ve added this as a toggle which is enabled by default, but can be changed by typing in ::textures while in HD mode. This toggle also saves so that you don’t need to keep modifying it every time you restart your client.
• Ground blending support on HD:
  • The texture support wouldn’t look right if the textures didn’t blend into each other, which is why we’ve added support for ground blending!
    • This will make the ground “blend” more nicely in different areas.
      • This is enabled by default, but can be toggled by typing in ::blend while in HD mode. This toggle also saves so that you don’t need to keep modifying it every time you restart your client.
• Broadcasts:
  • We now have the ability to use Broadcasts to show important messages to players!
    • Examples of current broadcasts:
      • Skotizo spawning/despawning
      • Skill of the day changing
      • Shooting star notifications
      • More to come soon!
• Misc. Client updates:
  • Client optimization for improved performance (caching model data)
  • Fixed black area on right/bottom of screen on resizable mode.
  • Added a fail-safe for HD dependancies - if a player does not have the correct dependancies it will re-download them.
  • When entering HD mode, the client will now tell you whether or not it was successful in entering HD.
    • If successful, you will also receive a message telling you about the ::blend and ::textures toggle commands.
  • Welcome screen bug fixed:
    • If you were in resizable mode on the welcome screen, the animated models (currently the green raids logo) would get “stuck” and not refresh properly.
  • Settings saving:
    • The following options were not saving properly on client restarts:
      • New hp bars, new cursors, new context menus, hitpoints x10, and tweeting.
  • Command fixes:
    • Some commands could only be typed as ::command and could not begin with ;;.
      • All commands can now be entered as ;; to prevent confusion.
        • Eg. ::hitbox <id> and ;;hitbox <id> will both work the same.

Hey everyone! Many of you may know that I'll be in charge of the newspaper for the foreseeable future. We had many updates, staff updates, couple of new rules and some small other things! Hope you guys enjoy reading this!

Mystery boxes & Super Mystery boxes: The following items such as Partyhats, Grain, Bunny ears, and H'ween Masks will announce if a player has received any of these items.

 

New dungeons/Rework

Taverley dungeon expansion: The Taverley dungeon now has an upper level with plenty of Black dragons and Baby black dragons to slay!

 

Slayer Tower Basement: The Slayer Tower now has a lower level - visit the basement to find plenty of creatures to slay.

 

Smoke devil dungeon: The location and colors of the Smoke devil dungeon have changed, but everything else has remained the same.

The Smoke devil dungeon can now be accessed either south of Castle wars, or through the teleportation interface.

16. VPN Voting

 

 

Any use of excessively changing your IP-address to vote will not be tolerated whatsoever on Alora.

VPN voting goes against many of the Top-list's terms of service, which can result in the termination of Alora from the Top-lists.

Those who fail to comply with this rule will first receive a warning, followed by a 48 hour ban with a bank wipe issued to all accounts involved, and finally, a permanent ban.

Our first interview was with one our newest Server moderator James

 

TB: Who inspires you? Who do you aspire to be like?
James: The Dalai Lama.

TB: Tell me about the best vacation you’ve ever taken.
James: When I was a kid I went to Disney World with my family. It was a lot of fun.
 

TB: What is the weirdest scar you have and how did you get it?
James: After a hurricane I decided it would be a good idea to slide in the grass next to a broken glass table. It's on my knee.

TB: If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day who would it be and why?
James:  Bill Gates, so I could write out a check to myself.

TB: How did you find Alora & what is your favorite thing about it?

James:  I was linked it in a group chat awhile back (didn't sign up until recently) and I've worked with some of  the staff members from the last server I was on.

TB: What are your hobbies in real life?

James: Don't do much anymore, but I'd like to get back into baseball. I don't see that happening anytime soon though.

TB: Do you prefer PVMING or Gambling?

James: PvMing.

TB: What your Alora experience like?

James: So far it's good and I hope it remains that way.

TB: Who inspires you? Who do you aspire to be like?

Jewlion: I’ve been inspired by many people over the course of my life, but above all else stood a man named Anthony Robbins, who many might have heard of. I aspire to be like him because he can touch so many lives in a profound way and in doing so, have a sense of fulfillment in his own life.

TB: Tell me about the best vacation you’ve ever taken.

Jewlion:  Ha! Anyone who has seen my videos from my trip to Cancun might expect me to answer with “MEXICO!!” but truthfully… the best trip I’ve ever went on was in March of this year to Holguin, Cuba with my mother and other family friends. It was the first time I went away with my mom as an adult, and I never had a better time! Imagine getting a chance to party with your mom like she was your best friend… In fact, I’m going to give you this photo to attach if you choose to of one of those nights @ the resort night club! A little context… Our whole group had had 1 too many “cervezas” before hitting the club, but it made for a much funnier time out!

TB: What is the weirdest scar you have and how did you get it?

Jewlion:  When I was about 10 or 11, I was riding on my bike down a gently sloped road with friends, and because we were all young and stupid we decided to do a “look ma no hands” kinda thing… That didn’t turn out well for one individual… My bike ended up momentarily snagged on a loose manhole cover and tossed me off ever-so gracefully allowing my temple to smack off the curb and the left side of my face to scrape a few inches before coming to a complete stop (or so I was told afterwards…I was out like a light). This whole incident left me with a pretty pronounced oval-shape scar under my left eye for years and years which I tried to erase with all manner of creams and natural substances. Nowadays, it’s hard to see, but I noticed it a little in Mexico when my face was getting tanned and it made me think back on those youthful days with fondness rather than the obvious pain.

TB: If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day who would it be and why?

Jewlion:  This had me thinking for quite some time… my obvious answer would be very sentimental and a little bit of a downer for this interview, so I will go with another, also true answer. I would like to trade lives (AND EXPERIENCES) with an individual by the name of Dr. Eben Alexander. The reason being, he claimed to have went through the most magnificent near death experience for an entire week while E. Coli rendered his entire higher functioning part of the brain, useless. He also claims to “remember” all the feelings, all the knowledge he had gained which would have taken lifetimes for a human to even scratch the surface of, and more importantly the experience to him was burned in his brain like a flash image. I think it’s human nature to fear and doubt the unknown, but if I could put that doubt to rest with a single day or even an hour in this man’s life (or reaffirm my doubt), it would be worth all the money in the world.

 

TB:How did you find Alora & what is your favorite thing about it?

Jewlion:  I found Alora on the banner of a website that I will not name here while I was reminiscing about my past with Runescape. My favorite thing about it is the community. Many people will tell you the same thing from past conversations I’ve had with other members. The community presence is so tangible here that you’d have to have no senses at all to not feel it. The staff blend so seamlessly with the community and everyone just seems to mesh. I like it.

TB: What are your hobbies in life?

Jewlion:  I play piano, with a preference for playing by ear rather than by sheet music. I’m very picky with what I like to practice based on how the music makes my hairs stand up on end. I read science fiction, adventure, fantasy, even teen novels sometimes. Reading is my greatest escape (even more so than video games at THIS stage in my life). Finally, I use what I read and see to write. My real passion is writing, and I’m working on an astronomy based adventure novel, trying to utilize the few astrophysics courses I took here and there in college.

TB: Do you prefer PVMING or Gambling?

Jewlion:  I’ve struggled with a gambling addiction 5 years back, so my instincts would tell you gambling is numero uno!!! I am here to tell you that I prefer PvMing. It’s something that still has RNG and still the feeling of gambling associated with it, but your hard effort pays off in the end. A perfect example of “if you play long enough, the house DOESN’T win.”

TB: What’s your Alora experience like?

Jewlion:  From when I log in to when I get off, I always have someone to talk to. Sometimes it can be around as serious a topic as depression, or we could be talking about that damned elusive -insert skilling/bossing pet here-. What I’m trying to say is… my Alorian experience is well rounded. I know from the second I come on that I will leave feeling some sense of fulfillment. People just want to belong… myself included. I’d like to believe that a lot of the people here feel the same way. I think most people get that life is tough enough when we look away from the screens in front of us, so why should we bring that tension into this wonderful community.

TB: If you could meet up with anyone in the world who would it be?

Jewlion:  Man, I would love to meet up with Anthony Robbins, but that would be redundant… In the Runescape theme of things, I’d like to meet up with a person named “Tyler” that I had met in 2009 in a little Stealing Creations clan called “Class5Clay”. He became a fast friend of mine for the following 4 years and during a dark time when I needed it most. He lived/lives in Wisconsin and I, myself, have always lived in the Toronto area in Canada so being youth it wasn’t in our financial power to meet up and go for a few drinks, or “shoot the shit”. We saw each other through some pretty rough times over the internet. It was really hard for me when his dad passed away and I couldn’t really do anything to console him like a brother would be able to do. After that our lives and struggles took us down different paths, but I would desperately like to meet him now that I’m an adult and let him know what his friendship meant for me in those days when that’s all I really needed.

Daily Task Suggestion

 

Hi guys Chance here. I've been thinking for awhile about posting this suggestion or not. Yes, it's a custom content suggestion but before you say, "No let's stay to OSRS roots as much as possible." Just hear me out on it.

The average person like myself, since I get really bored sometimes and have nothing to do. Daily tasks will fix my boredom. Being able to log in everyday and seeing my daily's such as 

for example: Cut down 50 logs, Burn 50 logs, fish "x" of fish, thieve from this "stall x times", complete 10 slayer tasks, kill "certain number of monsters", and deal "x" amount of damage. 

That last one, I don't know about. Those are just some examples and for the "Cut down 50 logs, and burn 50 logs" There could be like sections. Ranging from [Easy, Medium, Hard] Thus being "Cut down 50 logs" an easy task and "Cut down 1000 logs" being a hard task. That's just a random number though. Now every daily must be a reward, right? I think making another point system would be a cool idea.

[Easy Task = 1 point] [Medium Task = 2 points] [Hard Task = 3 points]

and again those are just numbers I'm making up. After you collect this points though you can use them in a store that will give you cool "items" or a somewhat "bonus" because everyone can do daily's there's no requirement. Just depends on time. Hopefully this idea could come into play, it would be great in my opinion.

The reason why I chose "Adventurer" is because I feel he's a cool npc to have as he's well an adventurer and adventurers such as ourselfs do all skills and since the daily tasks don't only rely on skilling tasks. What you guys think?

Daily Tasks Layout (While talking to npc)

As you see the tasks will get completed and it will tally up all the points. Making you claim the rewards at anytime. Example: Only could burn 50 logs then have to log off boom, claim those points before daily reset. I would find it cool if you could click the "Claim Reward" button too.

NOTE: *Forgot to add the daily timer, every 24 hours*

Been a while since we've done a post, while most of you are aware of what's going on and the changes we roll out as you play ingame or browse the forums. 


Promotions:

James was promoted to Server Moderator. A bunch of us have worked with him in the past, so he has previous experience that will benefit the current staff team and we're glad to have him aboard!

casual has been promoted to Server Support.

Ramon has been promoted to Server Support.

 

Resignations: 

Mewtwo has decided to step down from his position of global moderator, as he wants to focus on his studies. We wish him the best of luck attaining his diploma and would like to welcome him back with open arms once he finishes his studies.

Iron Colotic has resigned once again due to unknown circumstances. 

 

Demotions:

Otto has been demoted for inactivity at first, while conducting an investigation on his account we have decided to ban him. Most of you know the story behind this, and this issue has been put to bed in the past.
Messy has been removed from the server support team, there was a conflict of interest between the administration team, that is all I am going to say about that matter.

Jackie Nimb has been removed from the forum moderation team for inactivity in his role.

Cam Only has been removed from the server support team due to the lack of respect, and conflict of interests in the majority of the team.

Hey guys,
Currently the staff team is going through certain areas where activity is lacking. Here are the changes that have happened.


Promotions:

3rdage has been promoted to server support position, after losing his rank due to inactivity.

Conor has been promoted to server support.
Error has been promoted to Global Moderator.
Miss Sara has been promoted to Server Moderator.
Otto has come back to the administration team.

Haris has been promoted to the administration team.

uTorrent has been become our Event Manager, but continues to do administration duties.

Colotic Jr has been promoted to server support once again, after an unexpected resignation.

Debts has resigned from his server support position, he currently does not have the time for Alora.
Cam Only has resigned from his server support position.
Flexicution has resigned from his server support position.
