Hey guys,

 

It's a busy week for our content polls section! In this poll, we're referencing and polling the changes to Classic mode which have been requested in the following thread:

Original Classic Mode Suggestion Thread

 

If you haven't already looked through this topic, give it a quick look to familiarize yourself with the issues surrounding Classic mode.

 

To give a quick summary, Classic mode is far less active than it was a few months ago, and many fear that with Elite Ironman out now, and Group Ironman in the distant future, there isn't much going for Classic mode. On top of this, with less and less people playing Classic, the economy has become far more difficult to be a part of, making it a challenge to buy and sell items. So, what exactly are we proposing?

 

1. Firstly, we'd like to open up the economy of Classic mode and make it so that it isn't a restricted economy anymore. That means that it'll be identical to the Normal economy. As a Classic, you'll be able to use the normal Trading post, trade any normal player, use normal shops, stake, gamble, use the donation store etc. You would also receive the normal amount of GP from thieving, npc drops, etc if this were to go through.
   1. At this point, you might be asking: What's the difference between this and the Normal game mode? The answer is that it will be very similar, but it will keep the low experience rates and XP boost restrictions that many of you love. In a nutshell, it would become a low experience version of the Normal game mode.
2. Secondly, although the idea of 'perks' were proposed in the suggestion thread, we believe that this goes against the core idea of the game mode, which is meant to be more challenging. To counter this, we've proposed that a custom cosmetic item, perhaps a cape or a sword, be given to Classic players to signify their status.

 

As always, we appreciate your input on our content polls and look forward to hearing from you! After all, these ideas that we're polling come straight from the community -- and we're doing our best to implement your suggestions. Although the topic in the suggestions forum received much support, we'd still like to poll it just to be sure that this is what the community wants.

Looking forward to seeing the results of this, such a major change but it's great that the community plays such a big part in it. Thank you @ Omicron for always putting us first, this will definitely be a major update if it passes!

Had to vote no to this. First of all so many peoples banks are going to go down in price quite a bit. 2nd of all if the merge was to happen no guarentees this would revive game mode anyway because if they get a choice of a higher exp rate or lower most people will still go for higher one. Although I like the idea of a sword/cape for classics since they dont get anytihng really to show who they are in game.

This will definitely help decide whether or not I continue to play my classic. Our economy has been in a bad place for a while now.

 

 

EDIT: I'm a little concerned seeing over 70 votes already when the classic mode consists of mainly 20-25 active players. It's a little scary seeing the future of my account put into the hands of people who don't care about the mode but I hope you guys will all read the original proposal for the reasoning behind this merge before casting your vote.

Had to vote no to this. First of all so many peoples banks are going to go down in price quite a bit. 2nd of all if the merge was to happen no guarentees this would revive game mode anyway because if they get a choice of a higher exp rate or lower most people will still go for higher one. Although I like the idea of a sword/cape for classics since they dont get anytihng really to show who they are in game.

 

Theoretically all of the items in Classic mode are already able to be transferred to the normal economy. Sure, more items will enter the normal eco if we do this change, but they're also bringing all of their gold with them to buy items, so things should balance out. Also, realistically there aren't that many Classic players, or at least rich ones, to truly affect it.

I'm all for whatever is best for the classic community but don't really see the need for a new cosmetic for to signify you're classic, classic already has the nicest icon in the game as far as I'm concerned. This being said if a good medium can be reached where the cosmetic would actually make sense for classic players to have (not just a random cosmetic) then that would be nice but I'm pretty against random, meaningless stuff being applied to something it doesn't relate to at all.

 

Edit: I reckon some of the existing, highly ranked/decorated classic players should have a big say in this and it'd be good to see some of them really thoroughly respond to the possibility of these changes, but also the game-mode is technically for everyone so there's a balance to be met there.

It's a shame that classic mode had died down and now comes to this point, going to miss having our own eco.

whats the point of playing normal mode but with less XP rates and get nothing else but a stupid icon? none, dumb as fuck... but giving them a "cape" atleast so they can difference between normal players and show off that they actually have the patience and courage to play normal mode but with harder xp rates.. THEN I SUPPORT GIVING THEM A CAPE FOR THE EFFORT.

You can't really blame us for not wanting to PK when pk gear is expensive af on our TP and almost non existent but then when we get a kill we can't even loot the damn stuff.
