We are back with another edition of the Alora Newspaper. It's been a pretty intresting week for Alora, please read here to find out why.

 

 

Omicron was on fire this week with his updates, here are just some of them.

 

Combat/wilderness changes:

We've reworked the way the formula which determines whether you will hit or not works, The formulas overall were inaccurate and have been tweaked to be more similar to OSRS. This includes special attack accuracy which has also been reworked.

 

Dear members of Alora,

Yesterday we toppled some of the biggest gold distributeurs found in Alora. All parties involved with (read: have bought or sold to) have received a respective punishment for what they have done. This is more of a notification to bring up once more that buying and selling gold is against our rules, and that your account will be punished if we ever get a trace of it. Might I add that it is quite easy for us to find where gold goes, and how it goes there. Also we have gone through a botting ban wave, there are scripts being detected. These people received (and will continue to receive) IP bans, along with regular account bans on top of it.

I will not list the parties involved, however, we are a firm believer of second chances. The buyers of said gold can make an appeal to be unbanned in 7 days time (depending on certain things). As for the sellers, you're probably out of luck and will not be receiving the chance of an unban.

Therefore, take this as an update to why there have been over 50+ users who got banned. And take it as a warning for the future, to not break our rules(macroing) and try not to RWT.

hello, i would like to suggest adding customaizable F-keys like in osrs. this will benefit all the pkers especially bridders and those who want to practice bridding.

There is, and Omicron usually also logs in to give warning.

 

E.G: Today Omicron logged on and said Update in 10 minutes. Then with about 5 minutes left a timer came on to countdown until the update

Want to have additional security on Alora, but don't have a phone to activate 2FA? If so, you have came to the right place. 

This is a tutorial on how to set up Two Factor Authentication without a phone on Alora, using WinAuth.

 

Before you begin, know that this method is NOT NEARLY as secure as using a cellular device. If you have someone spying in your computer, they could easily get your 2FA key. Use this as a LAST RESORT ONLY if you do not have a phone to activate 2fa with.

 

Now, let's get started.

 

Step one: Download WINAUTH

Step two: Set up WinAuth

After you have extracted and ran WinAuth, You will see a screen that says to click the add button. Click add and select "Authenticator" 

NOTE: When you extract WinAuth, put it somewhere you can find it, such as your desktop. You will have to click on it every time you need to verify your 2FA.

 

Step 3: Get your Authentication code 

Now that you have the authenticator window open, minimize that and go to the forums to get your authentication token. To do this, on the forums click on your user name at the TOP RIGHT and select "Two-step Authentication"

Now you can select "Enable Two-step Authentication"

Now you should have a "secret key" to put in WinAuth, don't give this key to anyone.

Now you have a key to put in Winauth, go back to winauth now.

Step 4: Finalize the WinAuth setup

Now that you have a code from Alora's forums, enter that code in step one in the "Add authenticator" window from winauth that I had you minimize earlier. After you have entered the long code you had got from forums, make sure "Time-based" is selected in part 2, then press verify authenticator in the third part. After pressing verify authenticator, You will get a code in part 4, enter the code you get in the Alora forums. Be sure to put "Alora - (your username)" as the name in WinAuth.

Step 5: Finishing up

After you have put in your 6 digit code you got from winauth into the foums, you should see "ENABLED" for your 2fa status.

 

Press ok on winauth, it will ask you to add an password, add any password of your choice and press ok. The next time you need to verify 2FA, open the winauth application I had you put somewhere you could find it at again when you extracted it.

• ​Why am I getting black screens?

​Black screens tend to happen when a failure of cache happens. A easy way to solve this issue is to simply delete our cache in your :/C drive and ensure you have the latest client as well as the latest java. You can also try using Omicron'sfix.

• Why wont my client open?

​When your client won't open, it is most clear that your problem involves your java. My suggestion is to reassure your java is updated to the latest version. You can do this by visiting http://java.comand looking at the download page. Next, Please restart your computer.

• Why do I keep getting disconnected?

​We are having a few problems but Omicron is aware and he is doing the best that he can to assure the problem is fixed. Please remember, patience is key.

• Why is my client claiming Alora is being updated and is not letting me log in?

​Omicron tends to do updates during the day to ensure we are receiving content. Unfortunately, at that point, you can not log in to the server because it is being updated. You should reload your client and wait 5-10 minutes respectively.

• Why is my client not letting me click the play button on the login screen?

​This seems to be happen quite a lot. The Development team is aware and is trying everything they can to fix it. Your best bet is to close your client and reload it. 

• Why is it claiming that my password/username is incorrect?

Multiple users have reported this, if you come across this issue, possible solutions include : continuously clicking login until it works, if problem still persists, contact a staff member.

• I donated and did not receive my rank!

If you have donated and did not receive a rank following the purchase, please contact a staff member.

 

• I am getting stuck on 'connecting to update server'

Hello ladies & gentlemen.

Before I go into the guide and show you all ShareX has to offer, I'll give you a quick description of what exactly this program does. Basically, ShareX is a free, open source program that's been in active development for over 8 years. ShareX supports over 80 different hosting services including but not limited to Imgur, FTP, Dropbox, Pastebin, and also supports most URL shortening websites. You're able to capture crisp, and clean screenshots, GIF's, and videos within a few clicks, and save the links for days, weeks, and even months.

 

Now that we're all familiar with ShareX, and what it does, I'll go ahead and jump into the guide. First, you'll want to click this sentence to download and Install this fine program.

Go through the preferences of pre-installation and choose whatever you wish, and wait patiently until the installation is finished, and choose to run the program, you'll notice a new icon in your toolbar that looks like this.

You have two options, option one is left click this icon to bring up the screen capture mode, which can be used by simply clicking and dragging your mouse to cover the area of your screen you want, more options can be found on the left side, like blur, active monitor capture, and even a freehand capture. For now, let's just hit our ~ / ` button usually located under the esc button, to capture our full screen, if you mess up at any time, you can cancel the capture by right clicking. After capture you'll hear a note, and see our logo change into a , this just means it's almost uploaded, and shortly after a 'popup notification' will be activated on the bottom right of your screen, simply left click to open the image in your browser, or right click to copy the URL to your clipboard for use at a later time. Our second option instead of left clicking the icon to bring up the capture screen, is now we're going to right click it to bring up a menu.

This program saves your recent captures, allowing easy access to come back to your history and grab that URL to media you need again. Mess around and explore the menus, there are a lot of customization options to choose from. One of the many reasons I choose ShareX over any other screen capturing software, is the ease of use, the versatility, easy sharing, and being able to capture a moment, and upload & getting a link within a few seconds is incredibly useful, no more going to annoying websites and manually uploading! 

 

Image Combiner: Useful for threads to show off media, or combine multiple photos into 1 photo & URL.

I own all images of Vernox I've uploaded, my old server media so no advertising intended as it's no longer hosted.

I am not sure if you already added this or not, but I think it would be cool and accurate to runescape, that if I get a hellhound task I can kill Cerberus for the task. Same thing with Black Demons being able to kill Demonic Gorillas. I think it would be a great idea.

Resizer sites won't actually host the image for that long, so you'll end up getting a 404 error with most of them. You're better off resizing it manually.

Note: This is for people who do not know how to already do this.

 

1) Copy the image link of the gif you want to use.

 

2) Go to http://ezgif.com/resize/ to resize the gif.

 

3) Set the dimension of the gif to 150 x 150.

 

4) In the photo editor, import the gif using the new url.
