#56096 Elite Void

Posted by Omicron on 22 February 2017 - 02:22 PM

Since we have no requirements between Elite void and regular void, it's up to the players to see if they wish to put in the extra work to get the Elite void, therefore there isn't really a point in making it upgradeable. In OSRS you need to have a hard diary completed, but seeing as void is a lot faster on Alora, and there are no requirements for elite void, you can just go for elite void right off the bat.

#55896 Raids drop rarity/grouping.

Posted by Omicron on 21 February 2017 - 03:10 PM

The raids drop rate hold similar to OSRS, but we've made it easier since we want more of these items in-game and have a smaller volume of players. The twisted bow, however, will be the most valuable though because we were selling d-claws and elder mauls in the shop for a period of time, because these items are very useful/fun to pk with.

#54610 [2/17/17] Abyssal sire, PvM lectern, Imbuement scroll and more!

Posted by Omicron on 17 February 2017 - 05:55 AM

Hey guys,

I apologize for the delay in updates which were planned for last weekend, there were many different updates in progress and it wouldn't have been wise to push them without tying up all of the loose ends! I figured I'd push one big update rather than two smaller ones, and I've managed to pack in a fair amount of fixes and content into this one :) Among these updates is the long awaited Abyssal sire (including the weapon fixes, of course), as well as some cool new content such as the PvM lectern at home to list who the top PvMers are when its comes to boss killcounts and time records! Aside from this, many bugs were fixed, particularly client-sided bugs which were much needed.

Feb 22 Patch Notes:

  • Abyssal bludgeon attack speed fixed to match Abyssal whip
  • Ironman global item looting(eg. Snape grass) has been fixed
  • Twisted bow now has a more powerful effect within Raids
  • Clan wars changes:
    • The "Singles" option will now make the arena single combat (**Replaces "single spells" option)
    • Preserve, Augury and Rigour are now disabled if the F2P only setting is on
  • Client issue fixed:
    • Many players were unable to run the client on HD since the dependancies were not properly able to be downloaded. The client should now correctly download them.
      • Note: Some computers will not be able to run HD, typically newer ones running Mac OSX. This will be addressed in the near future.
  • PvM lectern records fixed:
    • The rankings were showing the wrong username for the top scores/killtimes. This has been fixed.
    • There can now be multiple usernames on 1 record if multiple people hold the same highscores (Eg. a Raids team will all appear)
    • Killtimes will now only count for SOLO fights! If another player attacks the npc as well.
      • As soon as another person attacks the boss during a solo fight, it will make it ineligible for a time record to be set.
      • With this change, all killtimes have been reset (Except for the Raids, Zulrah, Cerberus, Sire records)

NOTE: Imbued rings will now lose their imbue and drop to the ground on death if they are not protected ONLY in the wilderness

  • [Website changes]
    • Hiscores searching now does not take as long to load a user's information
    • **Promotional sales have ended.
  • [Client updates]
    • Crashing fixes
      • Eg. Right-click item before opening bank would cause crash
      • Eg. Runcrafting at an altar while emptying pouches
    • Fixed "Identity kit":
      • Some players had weird looking character appearances -- eg. being in a cart or a bookcase. This has been fixed.
    • Performance enhancements:
      • Removed useless code within the client to tidy things up
    • Zoom fixes:
      • Client zoom from settings tab now zooms out futher
      • Entering resizeable mode will no longer be zoomed in as close as before
      • *Note: Many players are unaware that you can hold (CTRL) on your keyboard and use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out.
    • Text fixes:
      • Friends list: No more capitalization or ? in place of spaces
      • No more )2 or weird characters on certain items and objects
  • [Server updates]
  • Corporeal beast combat change:
    • Ruby bolts are now only half as effective as before on the Corporeal beast.
  • Corporeal beast sigil rate revised:
    • 1/585 chance on OSRS -> 1/475 rate on Alora
    • (NOT a guaranteed sigil)
    • Roll between 0-100, if it lands between 0 and 7 (inclusive) you get a Sigil
  • Giant mole cavern is now a multi-combat zone
  • Fixed Battle mage bug:
    • Previously, players were able to attack you in the Battle mage arena even if you were under attack by a mage
    • This bug has been globally fixed and will possibly fix similar issues in other non-multi areas on Alora.
  • Slayer equipment changes:
    • Previously, the default Slayer helmet and Black mask only provided a 16.67% damage boost, but no boost at all to accuracy.
      • Both headgear now provide the proper boosts. (Melee-only if non-imbued)
    • Slayer helm (i) / Black mask (i) have been added:
      • Provides Magic/Ranged bonuses of 15% to damage and accuracy on top of the base Melee boost
      • Purchase a Helmet imbuement scroll from the Slayer shop for 7.5k reward points and use it on your helm or mask.
  • Imbuement scroll added to Slayer shop for 10k points:
    • (Tradable item)
    • You are now able to imbue the following items using the scroll:
    • Slayer helm
    • Normal, red, black or green all work
    • Black mask
    • Ring of suffering
    • Ring of the gods
    • Treasonous ring
    • Tyrannical ring
    • Seers ring
    • Archers ring
    • Warriors ring
    • Berserker ring
    • Salve amulet (e)
    • *See below for effects/obtaining

[*]Salve amulet (e) added:

  • Added to the Slayer reward shop for 7.5k points
  • This amulet can be imbued into a Salve amulet (i) with an imbuement scroll.
  • A 20% increase in accuracy and damage dealt to any undead monsters -- no task required:
  • *See the screenshot below for a full list of Undead monsters*

[*]New hairstyles added

  • Eight new hairstyles have been added to Alora. Speak to the Make-over mage to check them out!

[*]Ore-coloured Golem pets have been added!

  • You can now recolor your Golem using an Ore of your choice on it.
  • This version of your Golem will save on logout.
  • *Once you recolor your Golem, you will not be able to get it back to the original color.
  • With that being said, you could recolor it using a different ore.

[*]Options include:

  • Tin
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Silver
  • Coal
  • Gold
  • Mithril
  • Adamantite
  • Runite
  • Granite
    • Unavailable through conventional methods -- Rare drop from Gargoyles (0.76%)
  • Blurite
    • Unavailable through conventional methods -- Rare drop from Wyverns (0.76%)

[/list][*]Elite void colors darkened

  • This update recently passed a poll on OSRS and has been implemented to Alora as well.

[*]Untradable reclaim items updated to include:

  • Treasonous ring (i) - 400k
  • Tyrannical ring (i) - 400k
  • Ring of the gods (i) - 400k
  • Ring of suffering (i) - 400k

[*]Recent kills list added:

  • The scoreboard will now list the most recent kills (at the top) in the wilderness.
  • Details shown:
  • Both players' combat levels
  • Wilderness level the battle ended in
  • Time the battle ended (Server time)

[*]Miscellaneous:

  • Cerberus fade interface fixed
  • Pest control portals death animation fixed
  • Dragon spear special can no longer be used on Portals within Pest control
  • Dragon spear special attack no longer stuns the NPC within Raids dungeons
  • Fixed small bug with ironmen picking up items
    • Specifically, picking up your own items in the wilderness when killed by someone was buggy.
  • When dropping items in the wilderness worth more than 50k, it wouldn't block noted items. This has since been fixed.
  • Bot prevention: Typing ::empty will now stop any skilling actions(Eg. fishing)
  • Technical:
    • Trading post history/listing time is no longer bugged in our system
    • Command logs have been added
    • Changes to the donation item database make it easier for us to lookup past purchases
  • Dwarf cannon bug fixed:
    • When logging out and logging back in, you previously couldn't set up a cannon in the same spot your old cannon was in.
  • Lizardman shaman fix:
    • When the Shaman spawns minions, they were previously not doing any damage. They should now hit between 4-9 damage if you are within 1 step of them.
  • Fixed unnoted essence drops:
    • Certain monsters (eg. Marble gargoyle) were dropping high amounts of unnoted essence. This is now fixed.
  • Fixed Saradomin boss killcount/timer:
    • Commander Zilyana was not being counted as a "boss" and therefore not listing the killcount or killtime. This has been corrected.
  • Fixed bank/shop --> rest bug:
    • A bug that allowed you to perform actions such as open the bank interface from a distance has been fixed.
  • Fixed major pet insurance bug:
    • Previously, if you died with more than 1 pet it would never let you buy back all of your pets as it would get stuck on 1 pet.
    • You can now buy back your pet only once (and proceed to buy back any others), although the insurance will remain on it.
  • Experiments fixed:
    • Experiments were previously not attackable once they respawned after being killed once.
    • Experiments have also been visually updated to look slightly less like @Lowkey
  • Fixed chinchompa effect
    • Would previously kill npcs that aren't attackable in the first place if they were near the explosion.
  • Kraken fixes:
    • Arrows will now drop under the player and not under Kraken.
    • Kraken's magic attack delay before display damage was too long.

[*]Giant squirrel pet changes:

  • You can now obtain the Giant squirrel through any Rooftop Agility course!

[*]Staff changes:

  • Staff zone now accessible by Server support members
  • ::wildy will show all users in the wilderness + combat levels to prevent farming
  • Turning on/off weekend bonuses can now be done by admins, as well as:
    • The possibility of adding a 1.5x Raids rewards rate
  • Juggernaut changes:

[*]PvM/Boss records lectern:

  • A lectern has been placed at home slightly west of the bank:
    • This lectern will list the fastest boss kill records for every boss, and which player holds it!
    • Additionally, the second right-click option will list the player who has killed the most of each boss!
  • (All records are sorted alphabetically and updated in real-time)
  • (Banned players will not be shown in these records -- The next best record will be shown)

[*]Uber donator changes:

  • You can now have up to 20 trading post listings vs. the limit of 16 for Legendary donators
  • You can now purchase gold/yellow skin color from the Donation manager for 180m

[*]Bond changes:

  • Rank increase change:
  • Important: Bonds will now give ONLY tokens once you've become a Super donator, with no rank increase thereafter.
  • Eg. If you're a normal player, you can open bonds to get to Super donator, but cannot continue to reach Extreme, for example.

[*]You will still receive 100 tokens as usual, just not the rank increase past Super donator.
[/list][*]Tick eating fix:

  • A much needed pvp fix which allowed properly timed eating to essentially make someone undefeatable in singles combat:
    • Ex. Player 1 attacks Player 2. Player 2 has 2hp. Even if Player 1 uses an AGS spec, they are limited to hit a max of 2hp. That means if Player 2 eats during the same tick as Player 1 attacks, and has lower PID than Player 1, they essentially cannot die.
    • This is especially problematic for DH risk fights.
    • Video explanation:
  • To fix this, we've removed the damage limit. Even if Player 2 has 2hp, you can still hit 70 on them with an AGS spec.
    • This fix has been applied to all 3 combat styles, as well as combat effects such as Vengeance/recoil/dragonfire.
  • It also applies to PvM in most cases.

[*]Abyssal sire has been released!

  • Speak to The Unsired after using the "Abyssal Sire" teleport in the bosses tab on the Teleport interface.
    • The Unsired will teleport you into an instance where you can begin the battle.
    • Items are SAFE on death.
    • You must have a Slayer level of 85 to enter the chamber.
    • If you are on an Abyssal demon task, killing the sire will count towards your task.
    • Abyssal sire can now be assigned as a Slayer task, for between 5-15 kills.
    • The Abyssal sire will log the time taken to kill it from the moment you awaken it.
  • Reward system - Font of Consumption:
    • If you are lucky enough to receive the Unsired as a drop, you can take it to the Font of Consumption to receive a random reward from the following table:
      • (Using the same rates as OSRS)
      • Abyssal dagger
      • Dagger animations have also been fixed.
    • 1 of 3 Bludgeon pieces: Claw, axe or spine
      • Simply combine these pieces while having all 3 in your inventory to form the Abyssal bludgeon
      • The Bludgeon can no longer be purchased from the PvP shop
      • Bludgeon combat mechanics fixed
      • Bludgeon special attack:
      • Hit 0.5% more damage for every missing Prayer point you have
  • Abyssal orphan
  • Abyssal head
  • Jar of miasma
  • Abyssal whip

[*]Chamber phases:

  • Phase 1:
    • You must awaken the Sire by attacking it. During this phase, you can stun the sire by dealing 75 damage or simply tank the damage.
    • After awakening Sire and potentially stunning it, you must kill all 4 Respiratory systems in each of the corners.
  • Phase 2:
    • It will walk down from its throne and begin fighting you with melee based combat using 3 different melee-based attacks.
    • Once it reaches 200hp, the next phase will begin.
  • Phase 3:
    • The Sire will plant itself in the middle of the room.
    • After it plants itself, it will open up a portal and teleport you to it.
    • If you do not move away quickly enough, you will be hit with high damage.
  • Once the teleport attack is done, the sire will be on its final phase and will attack with all styles in its last attempt: tentacles, melee, and poisonous fumes.

#51860 [2/8/17] Corporeal beast changes, Item switching overhaul, Giant Mole, Boss t...

Posted by Omicron on 08 February 2017 - 05:43 AM

Hey guys,

Although @Jedzio has already taken the liberty of creating the 3 month milestone thread, and has done a great job of doing so, I'd like to personally congratulate everyone on 3 months of Alora! It's been a wonderful ride, and I'm incredibly proud of everything we've achieved as a community and how we've grown, and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for us :) Here's a balanced set of updates -- I tried to squeeze in a few necessary bug fixes (both server and client) as well as some cool new content which I've seen frequently requested.

UPDATE: Issued a hotfix to address Raids issue + Boss time records.

[Updates]

  • Fire Max Cape added:
    • The new Fire Max Cape featuring the moving lava has been added.
      • (Your old Fire Max Cape will be automatically converted to this version)
  • Mouse clicking system has been copied from OSRS
    • Many users have reported issues with the clicking system such as missed switches, hopefully this update will fix those issues.
    • Additionally, the issue of your mouse clicking the same place twice and not recognizing the movement has been fixed
    • This also fixes the item "double flash" issue when equipped.
  • Misc client changes:
    • Orb fixes
      • The colors of the hp/pray/run orbs have been fixed and updated to the latest used by OSRS.
    • Field of View / Mouse zooming changes:
      • The client is now "smoother" when using the mousewheel to zoom in and out.
      • It also has a field of view more similar to OSRS's
      • No more "stretching" of objects
      • Objects no longer go invisible when zoomed out all the way
      • Increased maximum zoom out distance
  • Duel interface fix:
    • Some players may have noticed the final duel arena interface "flashes" the items (including Dwarf remains) for a split second. This will not longer occur.
  • ::Drag commands:
    • These commands are meant to improve item switching to your liking:
      • ::drag
        • Sets both of the "drag" variables to your specified #. 10 seems to work well. (Eg. ::drag 10)
      • ::dragtimer:
        • This variable sets the "time" that your mouse has to be down to be considered a "drag"
        • Default: 5 (milliseconds)
      • ::dragdistance:
        • This variable sets the minimum "distance" that your mouse has to move from the original spot to be considered a drag.
        • Default: 5 (pixels)
      • ::dragreset:
        • Resets both drag values to 0
      • Note: Drag commands do not save on client exit! You must set them everytime the client restarts.
  • NPC/Player 'attack' option settings:
    • You can now set the preferences for the 'attack' option:
      • Dependant on combat level
      • Always right click
      • Left-click where available
      • Hidden
    • These will save on logout per-player.
  • Raids changes:
    • You must now have a total level of 1100 to enter the Chambers.
    • Reward rate has been slightly increased(more specifically, the "effect" that points have on loot has been increased)
  • Raids bug fixes:
    • Fixed the bug where Tekton would sometimes be unattackable for some players.
    • Ironman can now loot Bronze axes, small fishing nets and tinderboxes within the Raids dungeon
    • Dwarf multi-cannons can no longer be set up in raids
    • Fixed the location you end up in when you return through the final skilling room passage (should go back to Deathlies)
    • Fixed your screen being unclickable for too long when entering Raids or Olm's room (because of the fade screen)
  • Ring of wealth(i) effects enhanced:
    • Ensouled heads now have a higher chance of dropping while wearing the ROW(i)
    • Money caskets now have a higher chance of dropping while wearing the ROW(i)
  • Fixed walk-through door bug (mostly for Wilderness)
    • Sometimes, you would get stuck and be unattackable after clicking a walk-through door (such as the Pirate hut door)
  • Rock crabs dormant phase added
    • Rock crabs are now in their "Rock form" and turn into crabs when you get closer to them
  • Uber rank benefits:
    • Legendary enhancements:
      • 16 -> 19% chance of obtaining Clue hunter gear
      • 30% Higher chance of obtaining Clue scroll rewards
      • 5 -> 1 second yell cooldown time
      • 4 -> 5 extra PC points
      • 50k -> 60k PC coins reward
      • 35% -> 45% PKP bonus
    • Increased overall drop rate from NPCs:
      • Our drop rate, for the most part, is the same as OSRS's * 1.23.
      • Uber donators will have a boosted rate of 7% on all rare items ( on items < 1.0 drop rate ) ( * 1.30 )
  • Twisted bow changes:
    • Twisted bow has been slightly nerfed to better match OSRS rates for both PvM and PvP
  • Killcount map changes:
    • The killcount map will now display your kills in descending order (most kill at the top, least at the bottom)
  • Boss kill timers:
    • Bosses will now display how long it has taken you to kill it.
      • Timer begins the instant it receives damage, regardless of the player who deals it.
    • Personal record saving:
      • Personal records for all bosses are saved to the player's account.
      • Every time you kill a boss, your record will also be displayed.
      • This includes the Raids time record which will now save your personal best.
    • You can open the boss time records in your quest tab
  • Corporeal beast changes:
    • Combat mechanic changes:
      • Attacks changed when players are standing under Corp
      • Attack range increased
      • Combat bonuses (Offensive & defensive) increased
      • Damage reduction now applies to the Zamorakian *Spear:
        • Previously, this was applied to the Hasta.
      • Corp's max hit can now go as high as 65 with Magic, to match OSRS. (51 for Melee)
      • Corp will now use magic attacks more often when players are out of reach
    • The Corporeal beast drop rates have been updated to match OSRS:
      • 1/585 chance to hit the Sigil table(guaranteed Sigil):
      • 1/7 chance for Elysian
      • 1/3 chance for Arcane
      • 1/3 chance for Spectral
  • Dharok's set bonus has been slightly tweaked to match OSRS's
    • Formula: For every 1 hp lost from your maximum HP, your max hit will be increased by 1 damage.
    • (Slightly increased from the previous formula)
  • Miscellaneous fixes:
    • Fixed an issue where adding random names on your ignores list would cause you to crash on next login
    • Fixed client crash when entering Desert pyramid
    • Superior encounters will now appear less often
    • Wilderness ditch jump has been fixed
  • Giant mole:
    • Head to Falador Park to enter his cave by climbing into a mole hill:
      • Defeat this burrowing boss for a chance at the never seen before Baby mole pet!
      • The combat is quite simple, but the Giant mole will frequently burrow within the cave and end up on another side
    • Giant mole Slayer task has been added to the Hard tasks
    • The Giant mole will also show up in your boss kill counts / time records
  • Mage arena achievement fix:
    • Players who have completed the Mage arena miniquest but not the achievement can simply speak to Kolodion and it should complete their achievement.

#48770 [1/30/2017] Updated Raids mechanics/bug fixes

Posted by Omicron on 30 January 2017 - 07:08 AM

Hey guys,

Another quick update to improve the raids experience from what we've seen so far. There has definitely been an improvement since the last update, but a few things still needed to be fixed. Mainly, your points weren't affecting your loot rate from the reward chest enough. We've reworked the mechanics so that your points play into your reward a bit more, as well as adding a few new ways to get points. Additionally, it seems that with small teams it is difficult to get through Olm without pots. For this reason, we've made it so that you can go back into the dungeon from the final skilling room(where it would previously block you) and pick up potions and food off the ground if need be! You'll also find that the dungeon is now "scaled" in terms of enemies' hitpoints, and Olm has been slightly weakened.

  • Hitpoints of enemies now scale as the party size increases, as it is far too easy to clear a raid with 20+ people.
    • Approximately 5% more HP per player
    • With the above update, the default HP of all of the mobs within raids have been reduced to account for the change
      • All default HP reduced by 20% EXCEPT for:
        • Ice demon(no reduction)
        • Baby muttadile(only a 15% reduction)
        • Vasa's crystals(25% reduction)
      • This means that a 1-3 person raid is slightly easier(lower HP)
        • A 4 person raid would have the same exact HP as you have all been used to the past 2 days
        • Anything larger than 4 people will be subject to higher hp than you are used to, at a 5% hp / player rate
  • You can now turn back into the dungeon from the final skilling room.
    • This will allow you to go back to loot potions and other useful drops within the dungeon should you need it to fight Olm.
      • For example, if you were almost fully stocked on supplies at the Deathly ranger/mager room, you would miss out on a ton of supplies dropped by them and could not have turned back to loot them if you died at Olm.
  • If you died at the exact same instant as Olm, you would be teleported to the start of the dungeon. This has been corrected.
  • Fixed ironmen issue -- they could not loot if they did not deal top damage. I apologize for this issue, as it should have been fixed last update but a component was overlooked!
  • A bug where Vasa would get stuck at the crystal and be unattackable should no longer occur.
  • Olm combat changes:
    • Olm's attack bonus will no longer be as reliant on the team size. There shouldn't be a huge difference in his strength.
      • This is due to the fact that special frequency / # of phases already increase the difficulty tremendously.
    • Lessened prayer drop rate
      • Getting hit by a lightning bolt will now only have a 50% chance to drop your protection prayers rather than 100%
      • Olm's "sphere" attack will now have a 33% chance of dropping protection prayers rather than 50%
    • Olm's main attack (which he shoots from his mouth) will now have a chance to miss players in the room
      • He now has a ~20-25% chance to miss any player in the room rather than 100% success rate. In a solo party, you will simply not see his head do an attack animation. In a team, you may see him only hit 3/4 players (or less) in the party.
      • His main attack is also *very slightly* scaled in damage based on team size, but it is always quite consistent.
  • Rewards changes:
    • Loot rates are now much more reliant on the points you have earned. Try not to lose your points!
    • This way, the players who have earned many points will have a far better chance at loot, whereas players with low points will have more trouble getting loot. Nonetheless, it is still possible for players with 0 points to get the rarest items, even the Olmlet!
    • Pure essence will now be given noted, as intended
  • Points changes:
    • Keystone crystal now gives 500 points to the player who picks it up.
    • Lighting braziers / filling the trough now gives 50 points each time instead of 30
      • Braziers can now only hold a maximum of 5 + (teamSize) kindling to prevent people from point farming
    • Skilling points: (**Limited to a maximum of 2.5k per player, per session, to avoid farming)
      • Cutting down 1 kindling will earn you 15 points
      • Lighting 1 kindling will earn you 15 points
      • Catching 1 fish will earn you 20 points
      • Cooking 1 fish/bat will earn you 15 points
      • Catching bats will now earn you 30 points each
  • Sapling trees now last longer before turning into stumps
    • The previous health of the tree has been doubled so that players in large teams have an easier time gathering kindling.
  • Fixed fishing net spawns in Corrupted scavenger room
  • You can now type ::shake to disable the camera shaking at the Olm stage. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary toggle that does not save on logout, so make sure to disable it before heading into the boss room!
    • You can type ::shake again to re-enable it.

We're getting closer and closer to perfecting it, and I feel that we're nearly there! Enjoy :)

#48305 [1/28/17] Raids bug fixes

Posted by Omicron on 28 January 2017 - 07:17 PM

Hey guys,

I want to thank all of you for reporting all of the raids bugs so quickly! Many of these bugs are game-breaking and needed to be fixed ASAP, which is why I'm pushing this update tonight to address most of them. It seems that most of you are enjoying raids even through the bugs, which is awesome, and I guarantee that it will only get better :)

[Raids bug fixes]
  • You no longer have to wait 2 minutes anymore for the raid to begin.
    • As soon as the party is ready, the leader can choose to start the raid. No players can enter once that is done.
  • Fixed a major bug causing certain NPCs(Vasa nistirio, Vanguards, muttadiles) to be "unattackable" if a player died and came back.
    • This essentially made certain bosses unattackable on death and should now be functioning as intended.
  • Fixed an OpenGL crash issue in the third (Ice demon) room.
    • This may also fix OpenGL crashes in other areas that I am unaware of, as it is due to the way the minimap is drawing objects. You must restart your client loader (alora.jar) or redownload the new rar file if you are not using the updater!
  • Certain loot rates have been decreased.
    • Additionally, there was a bug causing players to receive 5 reward items rather than 3 items although they were not donators, this oversight has been fixed.
  • Vasa nistirio changes:
    • During the healing phase, if the crystal Vasa is absorbing energy from dies, he will walk back to the center immediately.
    • During his special attack, players who are teleported to the center will only be dealt his special attack damage, and not the usual damage dealt from standing under him.
    • Vasa will no longer throw 2 rocks on the same/close tile, they must all be at least 1 tile away from each other.
      • He will also throw a slightly lower # of rocks for large parties.
  • Muttadile changes:
    • The mother will no longer attack with 2 fire balls while outside of the water.
    • The fire balls' damage/accuracy has been reduced.
  • Dungeon drops:
    • Dungeon drops from bosses can now be picked up by ironmen and shared by the group as intended.
      • This also fixes the drops that should be visible by all players if an ironman kills a creature.
    • A tinderbox spawn has been added in the Ice demon room
    • A fishing net has been added in the Corrupted scavenger room
    • Fish will now drop in the cooked form more often.
    • Xeric's aid(saradomin brew) and Revitalisation potions(restores) will now drop more often than other pots
    • Bosses will now drop brews/restores instead of other potions.
    • Potions will drop slightly more often, while junk drops (fishing net) have been reduced.
  • Vanguard changes:
    • Vanguards % hitpoints difference threshold has been increased to 25% from 20%.
      • It will now be slightly easier to not trigger their healing.
    • The range/mage vanguards will now throw less attacks(rocks) towards players, especially in large groups.
  • Ice demon changes:
    • The ice demon's hp bar should now "refresh" more often while he is frozen to show progress accurately.
  • Keystone room changes:
    • Deathly rangers/mages will now drop loot under your feet(whoever dealt the last blow)

    • You will now be able to loot these supplies which should make fighting Olm slightly easier.

    • Crossing over the tight rope should now be less buggy, and you should not get stuck on it anymore.

Hopefully that fixes all of the major bugs, and if any of these bugs are still present(as I did not have a huge amount of time to test, wanting to get this out quickly) please post a bug report.

Cheers :)

#48015 [1/28/17] RAIDS ARE OUT!

Posted by Omicron on 28 January 2017 - 07:30 AM

Hello everyone,

I'm extremely happy to announce that raids are now available for everyone! The staff team and I have had a busy few weeks figuring out all of the details to put it all together, and I'm excited to see all of you online and enjoying the new content :) I've stayed up all night to make sure that all of the loose ends are tied, and I have no doubts that we may have missed a few things, so if you find any bugs please be sure to report them, and know that they will get resolved quickly.

Raids overview:

  • Party features:
    • Your clan leader can create a party to enter the raids dungeon, at which point all clan members are notified that they have 2 minutes to enter the raid.
  • General features:
    • 12 rooms total, not including the final Olm boss room
    • Scaling:
      • Damage, timers, rewards, etc are all scaled to the size of the party.
      • This does not mean a solo raid is an easy task, but it does mean that parties with large teams will be increasingly difficult as the size increases.
    • Items dropped on the ground(by players, or NPC loot) last for 1 hour before disappearing
    • Resources:
      • Overloads (dropped by Tekton, 1 for each player)
      • Boosts all stats by 6 + 16% every 15 seconds for 5 minutes
      • Hits 50 damage when you drink the first dose, but this is re-healed at the end of the 5 minutes.
    • Xeric's aid, Kodai, Elder, Twisted, Revitalisation and Prayer enhance potions available
    • Most resources can be collected as drops from bosses or mobs within the dungeon.
    • There will occasionally be a fishing spot to fish, but you must have kindling to light a fire and cook the fish.
    • Additionally, there is a room in the dungeon with a few bats to catch and cook.
  • Death mechanics:
    • Although you do not lose items on death, if you die within the raid you will lose points:
    • Regular players lose 33% of their total points, whereas donators lose:
    • Donator: 30%
    • Super: 25%
    • Extreme: 20%
    • Legendary: 15%
    • Uber: 10%

Boss mechanics:

  • Ice demon:
    • Sappling trees must be chopped in order to obtain kindling to light all 4 braziers surrounding the demon.
    • The icefiends will try to extinguish the braziers, and you must keep them fully lit for the boss to melt!
  • Vasa Nistirio:
    • Vasa will attack players with Ranged based rocks, as well as a Magic-based special attack performed every so often where he teleports half of the players into the center of the room and stuns them. During this period, the non-stunned players must help their team mates by running as close to the center as possible.
    • The more distance between the non-stunned players and Vasa, the more damage dealt to those stunned.
    • Vasa will walk to one of the 4 crystals in the corners to heal every so often. If you do not kill the crystal in time, he will perform the special attack upon returning to the center.
  • Vanguards:
    • The 3 different Vanguards(melee, magic, ranged) must be attacked with the opposite style to deal effective damage!
    • The most important thing to keep in mind for this room is that all 3 vanguards must be kept at similar hitpoints. If there is a difference of more than 20% HP for any of the vanguards, they will all heal the next time they burrow into the ground.
  • Corrupted Scavenger:
    • You must search the chests in the room to feed the corrupted scavenger and put him to sleep.
  • Skeletal mystics:
    • Simple room with 3 Skeletal mystics -- it is advisable to try not to aggrevate more than one at a time.
  • Tekton:
    • Tekton is a powerful melee-based boss which obtains his strength from the Giant anvil in his room.
    • Every so often, he will head to the anvil to sharpen his blade. During this time, flaming hot shards will fly around the room (ranged based) and must be avoided. After a short period, Tekton will leave the anvil(enraged) and will be very aggressive and stronger than usual. After a short while, he will return to his normal(non-enraged) phase.
  • Muttadiles:
    • The baby muttadile, which uses ranged attacks, must first be fought, while the mother attacks from the water with Magic. The idea is to keep the Muttadiles away from the meat tree, this can be done by either chopping the meat tree so that they cannot eat from it, or freezing them to block their path. Once the baby muttadilehas been defeated, the mother will come out of the water. She is significantly stronger, using all 3 combatstyles as well as having an impressively high hitting chomp(melee) which can hit up to 60.
  • Deathly rangers and mages:
    • In this room, you must be wary of the 6 different deathlies which are protecting the Keystone crystal.
      • It is located on the other end of a crossrope, and if you cross over before killing the deathlies, there is a very high chance of being killed
  • Olm:
    • Combat bonus scaling:
      • Combat bonuses scaled to party size
    • Phases scaled: (including the penultimate phase)
      • 2 phases for a 1 person party
      • 3 phases for a <= 7 person party
      • 4 phases for a <= 14 person party
      • 5 phases for a <= 25 person party(maximum)
      • (The later the phase, the more frequent the special attacks and more powerful Olm becomes)
    • Head attacks:
      • Drain spheres special attack which sap prayer and disable overheads:
        • Blue(magic) sphere
        • Red(melee) sphere
        • Green(range) sphere
      • Normal attacks:
        • Green "shard" (Ranged)
        • Green "orb" (Magic)
      • Posion special attack:
        • Affected players will repeatedly shout "Burn with me!"
        • Those who stand too close to someone burning will shout "I will burn with you." and inflict the poison upon themselves.
    • Acid pool shot
      • Olm will create multiple acid pools in the room in random locations, and players who step on them will be constantly dealt with poison damage.
    • Final phase only: Life Siphon
      • During this phase, Olm will shoot two blue pools out into the field, which all players are required to stand on. Any player not standing on this pool will be dealt damage, and Olm will heal itself by that amount of damage.
  • Room effects:
    • Acid trail:
      • Olm will target 1 player who will create an acid pool wherever they walk, which other players must avoid.
    • Stalagmite fall - targets 1 player:
      • Olm will shout out a cry, and one player will have a red portal glow and stalagmites falling on them frequently.(they may damage other players in the vicinity)
    • Ground spikes:
      • Every player will see small spikes spawn under them, which will turn into a large crystal quickly thereafter and deal a high amount of damage to any players who have not moved away.
    • When Olm has dipped underground to recover for the next phase, the room will shake and stalagmites will fall and deal heavy damage.
      • Upon resurfacing, Olm will have moved to the other side of the cave.
  • Left hand specials:
    • Lightning wave/wall that runs through the room
    • Player swap(confuse)
      • Two players are selected and a colored glow surrounds them. In 3 seconds, they must be on the same tile or close by, otherwise their positions are swapped and they are dealt damage based on distance
    • Heal aura (Final phase)
      • If you hit the left hand while the heal aura insignia is shown, your damage will work to heal the left hand rather than hurt it.
    • Olm's left hand will become unattackable every so often

Reward system:

  • Based on real loot tables from OSRS
    • Chance to hit unique table scales based on the points you received in the raid(from damage or skilling)
  • Loot amounts by donator rank:
    • Uber: 5
    • Legendary: 4
    • All others(including non-donators): 3
  • Amount of resources and supplies are partially based on the points you've received
  • Olm pet with the proper dialogues // animations(laughing animation as well)

Weapons:

  • Twisted bow:
    • Highly increases damage and accuracy against targets based on their magic level/bonuses
  • Elder maul:
    • A two-handed weapon which deals incredibly high damage.
  • Dragon sword:
    • A sword with a special attack which increases accuracy/damage by 25% and ignores protection prayer.
  • Kodai wand:
    • 15% chance to not remove runes for casting a spell(Also fixed for both SOTD's -- was broken)

#46962 [25/1/17] Bug fixes, Raids information

Posted by Omicron on 25 January 2017 - 04:43 AM

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the lack of live server updates recently, nearly all of our attention has been focused on Raids, and we're making great progress! It's going to be an amazing addition to Alora, and I'm sure that it will be an enjoyable experience for every one of you. We're getting so close to the release date, and if all goes as planned, we'd like to have Raids out this weekend! That will make us the first and only private server with Raids(let alone the Olm boss, which we've nearly perfected). In the meantime, I simply wanted to push out a few bug fixes, as well as a fix for the lag which I also apologize for as we had some technical issues.

  • Website:
    • Fixed image uploads
      • Uploading from a local file or an external link should now work as intended.
    • Website downtime issue resolved
      • Many users would see an error page on the website, this has since been fixed.
    • Awards system:
      • @Blank is currently working on implementing the awards system to make the forum a bit more interactive.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Dice bag can no longer roll 0
    • Fixed raw karambwanji in shop
    • "Website link" filter has been added for players with less than 1 hour of playtime
    • Veteran/Ex-staff yell tags fixed in-game
    • Sanfew's serums can now be decanted
    • Thieving tick manipulation bug fixed
    • Fixed levers going in/out of the Mage bank arena
    • Players who have a random event(Odd one out) will no longer be able to log out until they finish it.
    • Added a way for staff to find related users by ip/mac(for bot busting purposes)
  • PVP/Combat:
    • Fixed huge issues with "risked wealth" calculation that wasn't properly determining the wealth of pkers for stackable drops
      • You should now receive pkp more often on kills.
      • This should change the dynamics in the wilderness, as killing someone with noted anglerfish for example would think they only had the wealth of 1 anglerfish. It will now calculate (value * amount)
      • Two seconds added to PJ timer
    • Magic defence formula revised
      • Magic should now be more accurate overall
    • Fixed an issue with combat distance for large NPCs
    • Logging out and back in will now still show your teleblock timer
  • Barrows changes:
    • The Elite clue scroll can now be obtained as a Barrows reward

Some previews of what we've really been working on:

Make sure your schedule is cleared up for this weekend :)

#44446 Raids: Chambers of Xeric Preview

Posted by Omicron on 17 January 2017 - 01:02 PM

@Omicron will raids difficulty scale with amount of players? and olm having more stages with more players in he raid?

this will make them possible to be solo'd as well as not make it super easy for a 20 man team.

I'm currently working on this functionality! Unfortunately, we can't really know how the difficulty scales on OSRS(as in exact combat values for NPCs) but we can create our own system to determine the relative strength of enemies within the dungeon based on the size of the party as well as the average combat level of the party members. For our purposes, most players will be maxed out as it is not hard to reach level 126 on Alora, but we will definitely take the party size into account.
