#193240 Ranks Clan Chat & Raids

Posted by Omicron on 13 June 2018 - 02:36 AM

What rank should be considered the minimum to start a raid? @Pacwhale @Itzmigu

#193159 Trading Post Revamp

From what I understand, you're asking for Next/Previous page buttons to be added so you can scroll through all the listings? I sort of like this idea, and if it's possible without major changes to the core mechanics of the Trading post, I wouldn't mind adding it in. I'll keep it on the todo list and look into it after Theatre of Blood :)

#192877 Remove RNG scrolls

Posted by Omicron on 11 June 2018 - 03:25 PM

In our eyes, the benefit of these scrolls to players when considering the cost is negligible. We didn’t think it’d be considered overly OP. You’re essentially paying $1.50 to reduce a 1/1000 drop rate to 1/870 for 30 minutes. It’s not that much more likely, and it’s something we were already doing with higher donator ranks. If you’re doing Raids or Corp, then they might come in handy, but even then the drop rate change is so slight that you probably won’t notice it. No, you’re not going to pop a drop scroll and get an Elysian the next kill. Yes, part of the reason these were added into the shop is to increase revenue, as we do need to ensure that Alora is sustainable in the long term, and higher revenue can only be good for the server, as it leads to better advertising/more players, as well as giving us the opportunity to do more events with cash prizes for the community, among other benefits. That aspect is not something that is detrimental to Alora.

At the end of the day, it’s up to the community and always will be. We just wanted to explain our thought process behind it. We’d prefer to nerf them if the community isn’t sure about them, considering the above reasons (and the fact that they’ve been cleanly added into the game with timers and such). Ways we could nerf them:
A ) limit their usage to once every X hours
B ) reduce their effectiveness (though 15% really isn’t that much of a difference)
C ) increase their price to make them less obtainable/readily available
D ) make them not stack with donator rank drop rate boosts. This way, it isn’t much more of a benefit overall than before, and at best a normal player can have approximately the same drop rate that an Uber donator had before this update

These are just some ideas, but I’d like to hear from you guys what your thoughts are on this. I’ll be checking this thread to see what your responses are before I make any decisions regarding the new scrolls :)

Also, just a note @Joey on the “bad economy” impression you seem to have, our economy is actually quite stable and healthy for an RSPS. Other servers have individual players with trillions of gold, we don’t even have a trillion gold in the game in general. Just saying ;) Of course, the more time that goes on, the more items and gold will enter the game, and you can see this on both OSRS and RS3. We’ve got some awesome gold sinks though, and our total GP in-game barely increases over time. Items are a bit more difficult to remove from the game, though.

#192704 [11/6/18] Giant Mole / Thermonuclear Instances, Raid milestone capes, Increas...

Posted by Omicron on 11 June 2018 - 04:43 AM

You answered my prayers. Love you bb!

::edit:: I just saw that you wrote how addy and rune dragons are medium tasks. Why are addy and rune dragons med tasks but mithrild are extreme? Did you mean hard tasks by any chance? @Omicron

Oh you're right, Addy/Rune are Hard tasks while Mithrils are Extremely hard. I can change the Addy/Rune dragons to Extreme next update :)

Amazing!! Does rare drop scroll stack with donator rank's increased drop rate?

Yes!

Thanks for the update!

The pet scrolls increase the chance of a pet drop BY 25% or increase it to a 25% of receiving a pet?

Just increases the chance by 25%, meaning if the chance was 1/1000, it's now ~1/800.

#192669 [11/6/18] Giant Mole / Thermonuclear Instances, Raid milestone capes, Increas...

Posted by Omicron on 11 June 2018 - 03:14 AM

Hello everyone,

I know, I know… You hoped this would be the Theatre of Blood update! You knew that it was impossible to get it out this quickly only a few days after release, you knew that we needed more time… but you had your fingers crossed anyway. Rest assured that we’re working day and night to get Raids 2.0 out on Alora as soon as possible! We can’t wait to see everyone immersing themselves into the Theatre of Blood.

Nevertheless, we’ve got some updates for this week to keep you afloat while you wait!

  • Content updates:
    • Slayer updates:
      • Rune dragons and Adamant dragons are now available as Medium Slayer tasks! You can be assigned between 45-100 Adamant dragons and 35-80 Rune dragons.
    • Clan chat changes:
      • Capacity increased:
        • You can now have up to 200 players in your Clan chat channel! This apples to all channels.
          • You must restart your client to get the latest version, otherwise you will still see a maximum of 100 players per channel in your Clan chat tab (although you can indeed be chatting with up to 200 people)
      • Ranking order:
        • Last update’s fix for organizing clan member lists by ranks (descending) was not properly implemented, and will be functional as of this update. (assuming you have the latest client)
    • Chambers of Xeric: Milestone capes:
      • The Xeric milestone capes are now available! These untradable, cosmetic capes will signify your Raid accomplishments. There are 5 different capes, achieved at the following milestones:
        • Xeric’s guard ~ 100 raids completed
        • Xeric’s warrior ~ 500 raids completed
        • Xeric’s sentinel ~ 1000 raids completed
        • Xeric’s general ~ 1500 raids completed
        • Xeric’s champion ~ 2000 raids completed
      • How to obtain:
        • Captain Rimor, who stands outside of the Chambers of Xeric entrance, will give you the capes that you have earned.
          • These capes are free as long as you meet the requirements. If you lose them, you can go back to Captain Rimor and reclaim them. Happy raiding!
    • Bracket tournament area:
      • A new area with 5 different 1v1 combat pits has been added for tournament use. Event managers may use this area to host multiple fights at once. Deaths are safe here, and the only way to enter one of the arenas is to be teleported in by a staff member, but you can teleport there by typing in ::1v1.
    • Instances expansion:
      • Giant mole instance:
        • Due to popular demand, the Giant mole area can now be instanced!
          • For the price of 4.5m, you can create an instance for your clan and kill as many Giant moles as you’d like within a 90 minute period.
      • Themonuclear smoke devil instance:
        • Also a highly requested instance, the Thermonuclear smoke devil can now be instanced!
          • For the price of 4m, you can create an instance for 90 minutes.
      • Other changes:
        • Most Instanced monsters will now randomly walk around as intended.
    • Miscellaneous:
      • Vorkath can now be spawned by Event managers.

  • Bug fixes:
    • Sanfew serum fix:
      • Previously, if you had boosted a combat stat with another potion (eg. If you drank a Magic potion and boosted your Magic) and then drank a Sanfew serum, the serum would actually lower your Magic back to 99 (or whatever your base level was). This should no longer happen, and the serum will not affect boosted stats.
    • Clan wars fix:
      • A bug which sometimes allowed defeated players to attack other players in the waiting room after being defeated should now be patched. We’ve changed the way that we check whether or not you’re allowed to attack a certain player in Clan wars to make sure this no longer occurs.
    • Inferno fix:
      • A bug which allowed players to log back into the boss stage of the Inferno after dying has been patched.
    • Arclght fix:
      • Fixed a bug which caused your Arclight charges to decrease even when using it on a non-demonic creature.
    • Daily task fixex/changes:
      • Fixed the “Craft 25 green dragonhide bodies” task.
      • The “Open a bond” task has been removed.
      • Slayer related daily tasks fixed:
        • The tasks that required you to complete 1-3 tasks were auto-completing after 1 kill, rather than 1 task. This has been fixed.
    • Raids fix:
      • Although not fully confirmed, we’ve made some changes that will hopefully fix the issue where players entering the Olm room would sometimes appear elsewhere. (in another instance or in Edgeville)
    • Bandos fix:
      • A Bandos “safespot” which allowed players to not get attacked with melee at all has been fixed.
    • Kree’arra fix:
      • Kree’arra was able to attack players from very far away (noticed during the PvM cup event), which has been fixed and limited to the correct distance.

  • Client updater (Alora.jar) changes: (MUST REDOWNLOAD https://www.alora.io/downloads/alora.jar)
    • Our updater has been revamped once again, with a few useful changes:
      • Added an awesome loading animation to the loader (Huge thanks to @Jare for creating this animation, it looks absolutely incredible!)
      • Added a fallback if a player closes the updater halfway through and then re-opens it, it will be able to realize that the downloaded client isn’t complete.
      • Overall smoothening of the updater, making the progress bar increase more fluidly.
      • Not a major change, but the launcher can now be dragged around as well in case you want to move it out of sight to see something on your screen.
    • Mac/Windows now in the same jar:
      • We’ve removed the need for alora_mac.jar. The default alora.jar now does both in one! If you are on a Mac client, you will be asked when launching whether you are planning to play in HD or LD.
    • Fix for Java 10:
      • Some users with the latest version of Java (10.0.1) were having issues with the client never opening. Although the bug has only been seen on Macs, I assume it will also occur on Windows. This has been fixed in the latest updater.

  • Client updates:
    • Item overlay changes:
      • Updates:
        • The item names will now longer appear over:
          • Interfaces (eg. Trading interfaces, trading post, bank, clan chat setup, etc)
            • Basically any interface that closes when you walk somewhere (most interfaces) will block the item names from being displayed. Some interfaces (such as the Wilderness target interface) will not affect this.
          • Gameframe (eg. Chatbox, inventory)
            • This update primarily applies to item overlays on resizable mode, since the fixed game mode already had the overlays only drawing in the game area. The names of items should no longer be drawn over your chatbox, inventory or minimap.
      • QOL:
        • Item amounts will now be highlighted in yellow to be more easily readable, and also to differentiate from numbers in the item’s name (eg. Super restore (4) (350))
        • Text on a tile with many different items will now be more neatly organized, with the text for each item being centered.
        • The purple color for high-value drops is now slightly easier to read (more purple than pink)
      • Bug fixes:
        • Large item stacks (Eg. More than 30,000 of an item, such as coins) would show up as the wrong amount on the floor. This has been fixed for all values!
  • Trade interface fixes:
    • Some of you may have noticed some broken/misplaced border pieces on the trade interfaces. We’ve fixed these interfaces to make sure they don’t look choppy as they did before, and now match OSRS.
  • Right-click fix:
    • Some players had experienced issues where the right-click wouldn’t work at all, and every click was a left click. We believe this is only present on Java 10, but nonetheless we have issued a fix for anyone affect by this.
  • ::java command
    • This command will tell you what version of Java your client is running with (for debugging purposes if there are any errors we need to diagnose)

  • Forum updates:
    • You can now use Emoticons and BBCode (links, fonts, colors, etc) in the following areas:
      • Recent status updates
      • Profile feed (comments on your profile)
    • New emoticons added:
      • Heart ( <3 )
      • Broken heart ( </3 )
    • Forum Inbox size increased for the following groups:
      • Normal groups (member + ironman + classic)
        • All groups’ inbox size increased from 50 to 100.
      • Donators:
        • Regular (100 -> 200)
        • Uber (500 -> 750)
        • Master (500 -> 1000)
      • Staff:
        • Server support inbox increased to 5,000 PMs to match with other staff limits.
      • Other:
        • Veteran rank inbox size increased to 500 from 50.
        • Youtube rank inbox size increase to 250 from 50.

  • Store updates:
    • Bonds are now purchasable by Ironmen/Classic accounts:
      • Although Ironmen cannot trade bonds and this will likely not be of any use to them, this will allow Classics to buy bonds from the shop, as well as EIM partners to gift bonds to each other.
    • Drop Boost Scrolls:
      • Rare drop scroll:
        • Improve your chances for loot with this scroll! Redeeming a scroll will give you a 30 minute 15% rare drop boost, making those extra-rare drops more likely during your bossing session. Here are the details:
          • This applies to any rare monster loot, as well as Raids loot (Chambers of Xeric, as well as the Theatre of Blood once released).
          • You will be notified that your scroll helped you in receiving your loot if you do receive any rare loot.
      • Pet drop scroll:
        • Improve your chances to receive Pets by 25% for 30 minutes!
          • This applies to all pets, including those found from: Skilling, bossing and mini-games (Such as raids). It also improves your chances when gambling Infernal/Fire capes for pets!
      • FAQ (applies to both scrolls):
        • Are these stackable?
          • The item itself takes up 1 inventory slot per scroll. As for the effect, it depends on your game mode:
            • Normal players:
              • You can open as many of these as you’d like, and the timer will increase.
            • Elite Ironmen/Classic/HCIM:
              • You can only use 1 scroll every 3 hours. You can have both types of scrolls active simultaneously, though, as the timers are different.
              • EIM only: You cannot stack scrolls, even if you opened one yesterday and immediately logged out, and tried to open one now to get a full hour of improved drops.
        • Does the timer go down if you’re AFK?
          • If you haven’t clicked within the past couple of minutes, your timer will stop going down. It will only go down for active players to avoid wasting bonus time.
        • Can these scrolls be transferred between accounts?
          • These scrolls are tradable, and as for transferring to non-trade accounts, these scrolls can be transferred between accounts the same way that Bonds can be by using them on players.
        • How do I know how much time I have left?
          • Client timers will show you the time left on your scrolls on-screen.

#192167 That the rate of the Current RSGP per mil donation value goes up

Posted by Omicron on 08 June 2018 - 05:55 PM

Any OSRS GP that is donated to us is then resold to gold resellers, and the rate that we accept it at is based entirely on what we can get from them. A few months ago, it was around $0.90-$1 per mil, but has been steadily decreasing for the past few months unfortunately. Lately, we've only been able to get 0.55-0.65, hence our current rate of $0.60/m. Rest assured that we constantly update this rate, and if are able to get a better rate, we will offer a better rate as well.

#191981 Please Increase the Capacity of Our Clan

Posted by Omicron on 07 June 2018 - 09:50 PM

I'm asking if we can have the capacity of the 'ICE' clan chat increased to the same size as the server clans like 'alora' and 'help' which I believe is 200 members.

This is actually inaccurate, all clans including Help/Alora have a hard limit of 100 players. I wouldn't mind updating to 200 (for all clans), but it's not as simple as changing a number and there are some technicalities surrounding that change.

Without getting too technical... if we update the capacity to more than 127 players, I have to modify the packet that sends out the clan details to players. This doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but it means that the way your client must receive the packet has to change, and if somebody is playing on an old client (eg. ZIP client which is non-autoupdating), their client will crash when they join a clan.

This is obviously something we'd want to avoid, and after some quick brainstorming I found a way to possibly allow up to 200 players to join a cc without breaking clients, but I'd need to look into it more. Basically, if I can correctly identify whether or not someone is on an older client (pre-CC update), I can send the clan packet with only 100 players showing. More than 100 can be in the CC, but only up to 127 will show up on the list (hard limit with old packet). Anyone on a newer client, will, of course, see 200 members on their list.

If it works out safely, you'll see this in the next update :)

#188624 [27/5/18]Chaos Altar perks, Client overlays (item/bank), Daily Task streaks,...

Posted by Omicron on 27 May 2018 - 09:28 AM

Very great update. Now let's say for Ultimate Ironmen, if you suicide with the seed box do the seeds just disappear completely, or are you able to pick them back up? @Omicron

The items will be dropped on the floor as with the Herb sack / Looting bag / etc :)

#188524 [27/5/18]Chaos Altar perks, Client overlays (item/bank), Daily Task streaks,...

Posted by Omicron on 27 May 2018 - 04:49 AM

Hello everyone,

Make sure you update your client launcher before playing! (alora.jar) Read here for more details:

https://www.alora.io...-your-launcher/

Today’s updates have some heavy focus on the client which hasn’t received any big updates in awhile, where we’ve added some QOL features such as the bank value overlay and the ground item overlay, which should both hopefully improve your gameplay. We’ve also applied some fixes to Daily tasks, as well as added a new “streak” system and the Seed box as a new reward. There are also plenty of other cool updates included today which you’ll see below!

In other news, as some of you may already know, OSRS’s planned release date for Raids 2 is quickly approaching, and we’re just as excited as you are! As with the first Raids release, we’re planning to be the first RSPS to release Raids 2, so we’re going to be grinding day and night to make sure you don’t have to wait too long to jump into the action. Keep an eye out for more information on this!

Note: Some of these updates may have already been added earlier this week in a silent update, but many are newly available as of today!

  • Daily task changes:
    • Weekend bonuses:
      • Event managers can now enable bonus Daily Task points on the weekends! This will give you up to 2x as many points for completing Daily task.
    • Daily task streaks: (Thanks to @fiji water for the suggestion!)
      • Every day you fully complete your daily tasks will now count towards your streak! You have to complete every day’s set of 3 tasks to keep your streak going, otherwise it’ll reset back to 0 if you miss a day.
      • By completing all 3 tasks every day and building your streak, you can earn streak bonus points (only when fully completing the tasks of that day):
        • First day ~ 0 bonus points (starting the streak)
        • Second day ~ 2 bonus points
        • Third day ~ 4 bonus points
        • Fourth day ~ 6 bonus points
        • Fifth day ~ 8 bonus points
        • Sixth day ~ 11 bonus points
        • Seventh day ~ 15 bonus points
        • ALL days after 7 days (no limit): 15 bonus points
    • Bug fixes:
      • Fixed Coal bag reward:
        • The Coal bag in the shop was the wrong item and did not function as a coal bag. Anyone who purchased this item will automatically have a properly working Coal bag as of this update.
      • Fixed the following tasks:
        • Fish 250 Manta ray
        • Cook 250 Manta ray
        • Cook 100 Monkfish
        • Defeat TzTok-Jad
        • Defeat TzKal-Zuk
        • Complete 1 (or 3) Wilderness Slayer tasks
          • Was completing the task after 1 or 3 kills, not 1 or 3 tasks.
        • Complete 6 Raids
          • This one was working, but only required 5 Raids. We’ve decided to leave it at 5 Raids as this is difficult enough, and have renamed the description to avoid confusion.
    • Shop changes:
      • Seed box added for 350 points.
      • Arclight reduced from 600 to 500 points.
      • Mask of balance reduced from 500 to 250 points.
  • Seed box:
    • The seed box is now available to store your seeds in! This can currently be obtained through the Daily task reward shop, as well as through the donation store.
      • It can store up to 6 different types of seeds, and is able to carry up to 2,147,483,647 of each seed.
      • If lost on death, it can be reclaimed from the Lost items manager for 250,000 GP. Please note that as wth the looting back/herb sack/etc, if you destroy this item, you will lose the seeds inside. Additionally, banking the seed box will bank the seeds themselves as well.
  • Red Dungeon Cavern : Brimhaven Dungeon:
    • A new cavern with a total of 6 Red dragons (and 7 Baby red dragons) is now accessible within the Brimhaven dungeon!
      • The entrance is located in the Steel/Iron Dragons area in the Southern part of the dungeon, with the Red dragon entrance being on the west side of this area.
      • You must have an Agility level of 33 to go through the entrance.
  • PvP/Combat/Wilderness updates:
    • Combat fixes:
      • When attacking another player with Magic, you can now freeze them from a slightly further distance (1 extra step) to avoid your target easily escaping a fight.
    • The Chaos Altar (level 38 wilderness):
      • The altar in this temple will now be highly useful to players due to the following perks:
        • 1. It will provide the same bonus experience as a Gilded altar (POH) with two incense burners lit (the maximum experience in-game)
        • 2. There is a 50% chance of the Altar not consuming the bones that are sacrificed to it. This means that, in the long run, you’ll only need to use half the bones that you normally would to level up.
        • 3. The Elder Chaos druid immediately outside the temple can unnote your bones (and only bones!) for 200 GP each.
    • Prayer drain fixes:
      • General:
        • Overall, prayer was draining significantly slower than they should have been. The drain rate is now more accurate to OSRS for every single prayer.
    • PKP Exchange changes:
      • The PKP shop prices were too low following a recent update and introduced too many items into the economy, so the prices in the shop have been increased by 25%.
  • Slayer updates:
    • Slayer reward changes:
      • Ammo mould has been reduced in price from 15,000 Slayer points to 7,500 Slayer points.
    • Superior Slayer Encounter drops:
      • Some of the Superior Encounters were dropping bars (sometimes up to 15) that were un-noted. These should all drop noted now if they are noted on OSRS. Affected monsters include:
        • Marble gargoyle
        • Night beast
  • Clan chat QOL: (Thanks to @Dutchie for the suggestion)
    • Clan chat members are now organized by their ranks (as in OSRS)! This will make it easer to see the top ranked, as well as the owner, in the clan chat list as they be sorted from greatest rank to lowest rank, top to bottom.
  • Raids changes:
    • Tekton’s defence (melee, range and mage) have been nerfed by 40% in Solo raids.
      • This change was requested as it is quite difficult to defeat Tekton as a solo raider. Tekton’s defence in teams larger than 1 player has not been changed at all.
  • Boss drop table patch: (Thanks to @Lowkey for collecting data!)
    • As many players know, Alora’s drop system has had a major inconsistency since day one: Bosses are supposed to have a guaranteed number of drops, and we haven’t been delivering on that feature.
      • To correct this, we’ve matched OSRS’s number of drops per boss and updated it, guaranteeing your loot on boss kills. No more killing the Corporeal beast for zero loot! Here are the affected NPCs:
        • Zulrah
        • Kalphite queen
        • Vorkath
          • 2 guaranteed drops
        • Giant mole
        • Kraken
        • General Graardor
        • Commander Zilyana
        • K’ril Tsutsaroth
        • Kree’arra
        • Corporeal beast
        • Lizardman shaman
        • Cerberus
        • King black dragon
        • Chaos elemental
        • Chaos fanatic
        • Crazy archaeologist
        • Vet’ion
        • Venenatis
        • Callisto
          • 1 guaranteed drop
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Crazy archaeologist and Chaos fanatic are now counted as “boss” kills, and will appear on the Boss killcount records.
    • Toy cat is no longer tradable (loyalty system reward)
    • Corporeal beast fix:
      • Corp could previously hit players in the safe zone (immediately outside of his lair) if someone lures him very close to the entrance. This should no longer occur.
    • Quest tab update:
      • Barrows points will now show up in your quest tab next to your other point totals.
    • Clue scroll guide link:

  • Client updates:
    • Rank icons in Private messages:
      • Previously, when someone PMed you, the only icons that would appear were Moderators and Administrators. After this update, you’ll be able to see icons for all of the following ranks:
        • Ironmen:
          • Regular, elite, hardcore, ultimate
        • Classic players
        • Server support
      • We’ve chosen to leave out donator icons at the moment, simply because it isn’t necessary to display them over PM (whereas it can be useful to know that the person you are speaking with is Server support, or even an Ironman)
    • Item names overlay:
      • You can now choose to have item names displayed over ground items!
        • This setting is completely optional, and you can find the toggle for it in the settings tab. It is turned off by default.
        • It will show items that have a High alchemy value of more than 50,000 GP in a special colour.
    • Bank tab value overlay:
      • A new toggle has been added to show the value of your bank tabs!
        • Notes:
          • If on the main tab, the entire value of your bank will be presented.
            • If on any other tab, only the value of that tab will be presented.
        • Untradable items do not add to the total value of any tab.
        • The value used will be the highest of the exchange price or the high alch price.
        • IMPORTANT: Please note that this is often not the exact market value, but a rough estimate based on previous trading post prices.
      • You can toggle this setting in the settings tab.
    • Enemy health box update:
      • When attacking an NPC or player then running away (or eating), their HP box disappears. From this update forward, their HP box will stick around for 5 seconds before disappearing, as long as they are still online/alive. This means you can eat or switch weapons without worrying about the box disappearing.
    • Bug fixes:
      • Fixed an issue with some users (on 32-bit Windows OS) not being able to enter HD after downloading the client (or re-installing it). It will now work properly, but if you were previously affected please delete the entire (C:/aloracache/) folder and re-launch the alora.jar client.(Thanks to @Jare for pointing this out!)

  • Shop updates:
    • Our shop hasn’t received any love in awhile, so we’ve added some new exciting items to revitalize it! We also added numerous ironman donation items, since many Ironman/classics have expressed interest in obtaining higher donator ranks but didn’t have many items to spend their tokens on.
      • New additions:
        • Instance tokens have been added!
          • These tradable tokens will allow you to create any instance of your choice! While having a token in your inventory (or multiple, as they are stackable) you can create an instance without spending and GP.
            • These tokens come in packs of 10 from the shop, which costs 70 tokens.
        • Cosmetics:
          • Cow outfit
        • Equipment:
          • Shayzien armour set
          • Elite void set (with 3 helmets)
        • General:
          • Tome of fire
          • Herb sack
          • Seed box
          • Imbuement scroll
      • Changes:
        • Many items were moved from the General tab to the Supplies tab:
          • Anglerfish, Dark crab, Super combat potion, Dragon javelin and Dragon bolts.

  • Website updates:
    • HTTPS Support (SSL Encryption)
      • Our domain is now SSL certified! You may have already noticed this if you’ve seen the green padlock and “secure” text next to the URL. This long overdue procedure will offer increased protection while browsing our website.
    • Vote changes:
      • RSPS-Page has been removed from our vote page due to frequently failing to correctly notify us when a player has voted. This means that there are now 6 websites to vote on, and you need to vote on 5 in total to get your auth. (though we recommend all 6 as this helps the server tremendously!)

NOTE: You must update your client to play after this update!

NOTE2: The game will not work at all if you are using the .ZIP client and do not re-download! The .ZIP client does not auto-update like the .JAR client (alora.jar), and you will need to either start using the .JAR client located here. If you always use alora.jar, simply close and restart your client. You’ll know if you need to do this if you see the following error:

#185588 Possible Daily Tasks

Posted by Omicron on 14 May 2018 - 04:25 PM

Big thanks to @Xuf for organizing this in the thread!

I'd just like to add that these tasks will be changing (perhaps once a month we'll add new tasks and possibly remove old ones), but I'll try my best to keep this thread up to date.

#185187 [13/5/18] Daily Tasks, Arclight, Kurask Expansion, Hotzone system + PvP updat...

Posted by Omicron on 13 May 2018 - 03:07 AM

Hotfixes (May 13th):

  • Timer for Daily tasks fixed:
    • The timezone was not matched to the server time (GMT), and has been fixed. It will now reset the tasks at midnight server time.
    • Additionally, as many of you noticed, tasks were being changed every 10 minutes. This has been fixed.
  • Daily task reward shop fix:
    • The Shayzien top and bottom were tier 4 rather than tier 5.
  • Arclight fix:
    • In addition to the previously affected creatures, the Arclight will now work on:
      • Abyssal Sire
      • Zamorakian GWD enemies:
        • K’ril Tstusaroth
        • Balfrug Kreeyath
        • Tstanon Karlak
        • Zakl’n Gritch

Hello everyone,

This update took longer than anticipated due to Daily tasks taking a ton of time to configure, as well as some unprecedented circumstances that took up some of my time, but I’m thrilled to announce the release of this new system! The Daily tasks will give you that extra challenge each and every day, while working towards your goals, which could be short term monetary gain (bloody/crystal keys), items that will increase your efficiency (Arclight, Propsector kit) or simply going for that fashionable cosmetic! (Achievement armour, western banners) Whatever your goal is, we know that you’ll find something in this update to enjoy :) On top of this, we’ve got some other long awaited updates such as the Kurask cave expansion, and some much needed PvP updates including a rotating Hotzone system. I’ll let you read the details yourself below!

  • Daily tasks:
    • Daily tasks are now available! (Thanks to @F 8 for the awesome idea)
      • Mr. Daily can be found in Edgeville bank, and he’ll tell you which tasks are available today.
        • Features:
          • 3 daily tasks, one easy, one medium, and one hard.
            • These tasks are changed every 24 hours, based on UTC (server) time.
          • Each task will give a set number of points, typically 3, 5, and 10 for easy, medium and hard respectively.
            • Extreme Donators will receive an extra 1, 2, and 3 points for each task respectively.
            • Legendary Donators will receive an extra 2, 3, and 4 points for each task respectively.
            • Uber donators will receive an extra 3, 4, and 5 points for each task respectively.
          • Full completion bonus:
            • If you complete all 3 of today’s tasks, you’ll receive an extra 12 points!
              • Typically, this means a maximum of 30 points per day can be earned, while donators can receive up to 42.
          • All game modes can access this shop. (iron/classic included)
        • What types of tasks are available?
          • There are many different tasks that are randomly selected each day! The same task will never be given back to back, but can be given two days after.
          • Some examples include:
            • Easy:
              • Cut 50 gems of any type — 3 points
              • Claim a vote auth — 3 points
              • Use the high alchemy spell 100 times — 3 points
            • Medium:
              • Harvest any 3 herb patches — 5 points
              • Complete 3 raids — 5 points
              • Chop 300 Redwood logs — 5 points
            • Hard:
              • Gamble a Fire cape — 12 points
              • Earn 425 Runecrafting points — 10 points
              • Kill 35 Krakens — 10 points
        • What types of rewards are available?
          • General:
            • Bloody key, Crystal key
            • Anglerfish, super combat potions
            • Looting bag
            • Shayzien outfit (tier 5)
            • Mask of balance
            • Dark totem
          • New items:
            • Prospector outfit — provides 2.5% Mining experience when full set is worn.
            • Dwarven helmet — Highest crush bonus for a helmet in-game
            • Arclight — Extremely powerful sword against demons (provides 70% accuracy and damage boost, but requires charges from Ancient shards)
            • Achievement armour set 1
            • Achievement armour set 2
            • Western banner 1
            • Western banner 2

  • Kurask expansion (task-only):
    • A Kurask expansion area has been added in the Fremennik Slayer caves!
      • This area can only be entered by players who are currently on a Kurask slayer task (solo or duo) to ensure that it does not get over-crowded.
      • Notes:
        • 9 new Kurask spawns are available in this area, complementing the original 6 Kurasks in the non-task area.
        • The west side of the task-only area contains an intentional safespot which allows you to range/mage/halberd Kurasks with ease.

  • Propsector kit added:
    • This outfit, which provides a total bonus of 2.5% more Mining experience when worn, is now available for purchase in the Daily tasks shop!
      • Boosts:
        • Helmet: 0.4%
        • Jacket: 0.8%
        • Legs: 0.6%
        • Boots: 0.2%
        • Full set bonus: 0.5%
      • Total bonus:
        • 2.5%
    • The prices in the Daily Task reward shop are based on the experience given by each piece and are perfectly scaled. For example, the jacket (0.8%) is 4x the experience of the boots (0.2%), and is 4x the price.

  • Items dropped on death fixes:
    • Ironmen’s items would not last as long on the floor as normal players. This has been fixed.
    • The UIM update last update was bugged in some circumstances, and should now work as intended (tested).
    • Fixed a bug with some untradable items (eg. Ornament kit amulets) disappearing more quickly off the ground.
    • The timer on the client for how long until your items are visible to other players (or completely disappear, in the case of Ironmen) was showing a time longer than it should have been. It will now be more accurate.
  • Bones on Altar fix:
    • Ironmen (specifically Elite) will now receive bonus experience from using bones on their own player-owned-house altars, as well as Elite being able to receive bonus experience from their partner’s house altars. (This was broken last update)
  • Fixed instance-kick issue
    • Sometimes, if players are wearing a Ring of Life or Defence skillcape inside of certain instances (zulrah, vorkath, kraken, etc) which you can teleport out of, the ROL/cape would teleport you out even if you had high HP. This will no longer happen, and you will only be teleported out at low HP (<10% of max HP) as intended.
  • Raids fix:
    • Some of you may have noticed a bug that occurs periodically within Raids which causes you to enter another player’s instance when trying to enter the final room for the Olm fight.
      • This should hopefully be fixed as of this update, but will need to be tested over time as it is a hard bug to reproduce. If it is still broken, please report it as soon as possible.
  • Clue scroll fix:
    • A clue scroll calling for players to wear certain equipment and bow outside the Legend’s guild was asking for an Oak longbow or Regular longbow to be worn. As this is not skiller friendly, and the Regular longbow cannot be obtained, we’ve updated it to ask for a regular (normal wood) short bow instead.
  • Fire wave/blast fix:
    • When using the Fire wave spell with the Tome of fire equipped, you will now receive a 50% damage boost as intended.
  • Storage box changes:
    • Although the item limit is 10,000 per stack within the Storage box, we’ve increased the amount of gold that you can store within the box to 1,000,000 (1M) GP.
  • Karambwan fishing in Fishing guild fixed:
    • There is now a Karambwan fishing spot on the northern dock of the Fishing guild.
  • Serpentine helmet uncharging:
    • Uncharging/dismantling the Serpentine helmet would give you a chisel every time (chisel dupe). This has been patched, and dismantling will no longer grant you a chisel at all.
  • Seers agility course fix:
    • The first obstacle (wall climb) was giving way more experience than any other obstacle, causing players to simply teleport back to Seers village after the first obstacle.
      • This obstacle has been nerfed, but the entire course will still give the same experience. The last obstacle will give the most experience.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Pickup sound fix:
      • When picking up an item, sometimes another player would get it first (eg. At a drop party) but the pickup sound would still play for you. This was confusing, and ultimately disappointing (see: drop party) and has been fixed so that the sound only plays if you truly received the loot.

  • PVP/Combat Updates:
    • Bloody key changes:
      • Bloody keys can now only be picked up by players who are at least level 57.
    • Bloody keys can now be dropped upon killing your Bounty target!
      • The rate at which these keys drop is based on your Wilderness level as well as your target’s risked wealth.
      • Guidelines for wilderness levels:
        • 50 Wildy: 2.5x as likely
        • 35 Wildy: 1.5x as likely
        • 20 Wildy: 1.25x as likely
        • 10 Wildy: 1.15x as likely
      • The majority of the influence for risked wealth is in the <100M range, meaning that if the target’s risked wealth is greater than 100M (eg. 2b) it will have essentially the same chance as someone who has 100m assuming the same wilderness level.
    • Prayer fixes:
      • Some changes to prayer determination in combat have been made to make the effect of your selected prayer take effect more quickly.
    • Zamorak godsword special attack timer:
      • The timer for the freeze effect is 20 seconds, but the client timer would show 30. This has now been fixed.
    • Dragon claw special attack boost:
      • The accuracy of the special attack has been increased.
    • Berserker necklace special effect:
      • The berserker necklace effect was only working for the Obsidian maul (Tzhaar-ket-om), but now works for all of the intended weapons:
        • Toktz-xil-ak (sword)
        • Tzhaar-ket-em (mace)
        • Toktz-xil-ek (dagger)
    • Skotizo updates:
      • Drop table improved with new items:
        • Bloody key
        • Amulet of torture
        • Necklace of anguish
      • Teleblock effect:
        • With these improved loot additions, the risk of fighting Skotizo has increased… anyone attacking Skotizo will take on the challenge of being teleblocked for 2 minutes and 30 seconds!
    • Hotzones:
      • The hotzone feature has been revamped! Hotzones are now rotating spots where you will earn double PKP. The zone will rotate every 30 minutes and will always be different than the last one.
      • Possible zones:
        • Edgeville
        • Mage bank
        • East dragons
        • Dark castle
        • Demonic ruins
      • You can see whether you’re in a Hotzone or not in the bottom right corner, and you can also view the current hotzone in your quest tab.
        • You’ll also receive notifications globally when the hotzone changes.
  • Dragonhunter crossbow fix:
    • The effect of this weapon on Dragons/Olm/Wyverns was underpowered and has been corrected to 30% increased damage and accuracy.

  • The Arclight is now available!
    • Available in the Daily tasks reward shop
    • This sword, requiring level 75 Attack, is extremely effective against demon type monsters with it’s 70% increase in accuracy and damage against them, making it more effective than the Abyssal tentacle. The affected creatures include:
      • Imps
      • Lesser demon, Greater demon, Black demon
      • Abyssal demon
      • Nechryael, Nechryarch
      • Demonic gorilla
      • Skotizo
      • Porazdir (Zamorak boss from world bosses event)
    • Charges:
      • This sword holds charges (up to 10,000) for its effect. Charges can be added by using Ancient shards on the sword, every 3 providing 1,000 charges. If there are no more charges, the sword does not provide any accuracy or damage bonus against demon type monsters.
    • Untradable reclaim:
      • Upon death, this item will go to the Lost items manager and can be reclaimed for 500,000 GP.

ty for update though - the 60 minute death timer for UIM is awesome to see. Can you add all game modes to main homepage just like osrs too

Is the 60 minute timer for UIM only? @Omicron

Kurask expansion will be added in a future update. Though I'm not sure what you mean by "Can you add all game modes to main homepage just like osrs too". And yes, timer is for UIM only since their inventory space is so limited.

thanks for ur activity @Omicron best rsps coder and active af....

#179827 [21/4/18] Storage Box for Elite Ironmen, Bug fixes, QOL and more!

Posted by Omicron on 21 April 2018 - 11:52 PM

Hello everyone,

We're back with a few content updates / bug fixes this week, mostly pertaining to the Elite Ironman release last week which was hugely successful. I'm thrilled to see so many people enjoying the new game mode, and hopefully these bug fixes and content updates improve the experience even more!

  • Elite Ironman Storage Box:
    • Due to popular request, Elite Ironmen who have partners can now share a storage box with their partner!
      • Located next to Paul in Edgeville, this box allows you to deposit up to 14 items which are shared with your partner.
      • Any items that you deposit will be left in the box until you or your partner retrieves them. This box is perfect if your partner is not online at the same time as you are, and you’d like to leave them some supplies.
      • Although the maximum number of items is 14, you can only store 10,000 of any specific item within the storage box.
      • Elite Ironmen who do not have partners cannot use this box as storage.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Fixed duel arena no movement bug (“I can’t reach that!”)
    • Limpwurt seed is now tradable.
    • Fixed a bug which would technically cause the game to think you were a Hardcore ironman when you weren’t, causing your status to be downgraded upon death.
    • Fixed the “huge” crossbows on the “How many would you like to make?” Interface when stringing or creating unfinished crossbows.
    • Sapphire ring Crafting level requirement fixed (from 30 to 20)
  • Duo Slayer changes:
    • Previously, you were able to receive tasks that involved an instanced boss (eg. Zulrah, Grotesque Guardians, TzTok-Jad, etc).
      • This will no longer be possible.
    • If your partner finished the task, your counter would still say (Task: 0 Green dragons) without resetting, causing you to have to kill one more.
      • This will no longer happen.
  • XP Counter fix:
    • A bug which caused your XP counter to go negative at high amounts has been fixed.
  • Elite Ironman changes:
    • House altars:
      • You can now receive bonus experience from using bones on your EIM partner’s house altars.
  • Thieving changes:
    • When pickpocketing, your level/equipment bonuses will now have more effect on your thieving success rate. You should fail less often, overall.
  • Tournament ring:
    • For the EIM pvp tournament (and future tournaments), a safe-death PVP ring has been added.
      • You can type ::tournament to teleport to the spectator sidelines around the ring, but competitors can only be teleported in by staff members.
  • Ultimate Ironman update:
    • When dying to an NPC, Ultimate Ironmen’s items lost on death (NOT applicable to PvP death) will now last 60 minutes before disappearing. After the 60 minutes, the items will become publicly visible for a few more minutes.
      • This is intended to help UIMs temporarily drop their inventories by dying to an NPC, allowing them to more easily participate in certain types of content (particularly wilderness content such as Mage Arena II).
      • NOTE: We will not be responsible for your losses if you are unable to recover your items due to a server update. There is always a 5 minute timer before a server update, which should be plenty of time for UIMs to get their items back.
  • Dwarf Multicannon fixes:
    • A bug allowed players to set up a hunting trap (eg. Box trap or bird snare) next to someone’s cannon, causing it to disappear. This has been fixed, and traps can no longer be set up near a cannon.
      • Additionally, to prevent people from putting cannons in typical trap areas, cannons can no longer be set up in Feldip hills, the Donator zone, the donator Chinchompa cave or the Black chinchompa hunting area.

  • Website:
    • Fixed EIM highscores pages for specific skills (not Overall) showing (Solo) for all players, even if they have a partner.
    • Added ReCaptcha + new registration questions when signing up (to prevent spammers from registering)

#177890 [14/4/18]Elite Ironman Is OUT NOW! (+ Duo Slayer, Lizardman caves, and mo...

Posted by Omicron on 14 April 2018 - 07:00 PM

Hello everyone,

I’m very excited to announce that Elite Ironman Mode is now live! You can jump straight in and create an Elite ironman on a fresh account (or any account that you already own that has not yet completed the beginner tutorial) and participate in the action! Make sure to check out the PvP tournament as well as the numerous events with both IRL Cash prizes and token rewards for those who are brave enough to compete:

PvP tournament ($500 in Cash prizes): http://www.alora.io/forums/topic/32927-elite-ironman-pvp-tournament-500-in-cash-prizes

Elite competitions ($380 in Token prizes): http://www.alora.io/forums/topic/32918-elite-ironman-release-announced-competition-information/

Without further ado…

  • Elite Ironman (Duo) mode is now available!
    • Elite Ironman is a new challenge for Ironmen who want a lower XP rate than the standard modes, but do not want the open economy of Classic mode or the death mechanics of the HCIM. It also opens the door to a brand new Duo/Partner functionality which allows you to choose a friend to play the new game mode with! Here are the details:
      • Experience rate:
        • 4x base rate
          • This rate is slightly lower than Classic mode to provide a new challenge for players who desire more challenging gameplay, and to truly live up to the “Elite” name the game mode entails.
      • Experience bonuses:
        • The same limitations of the HCIM/Classic modes apply. Typical XP bonuses such as the Well of Goodwill will give 50% of the usual bonus (15% rather than 30%), and Vote books can only be opened once every 12 hours.
      • Duo/Partner feature:
        • A long requested feature, Elite Ironman can now choose to play with (or without!) a partner in their adventure.
          • This partner is the only player you can trade with, and can only be chosen once!
          • A partner can only be chosen within the first 12 hours of play time (time actually spent in-game, NOT the time since your account was created).
            • This means that you and the person you’d like to be your partner must “pair” within the first 12 hours of playtime. After that, you can no longer choose a partner, NOR can you modify your existing partner.
            • You and your partner both, of course, must be Elite Ironmen and not already have partners.
            • You can speak to Paul at home to select a partner.
      • Highscores:
        • The highscores for the Elite Ironman mode are also available, and they will show:
          • a) If a player has a partner, the partner’s name will be listed
          • OR
          • B) If they do not have a partner, it will be noted that they are Solo EIM players.
      • Vote books:
        • You can only open a vote book once every 12 hours.
        • Other accounts (normal) can not give you vote books. Only your partner can.
        • You cannot open another vote book if you still have bonus XP.
      • Bonds/donations:
        • Bonds are the only item you can transfer from your main to your EIM.
        • The same donation rules that apply to other ironmen/classics apply to EIM (mostly cosmetic only).
      • Clan chat:
        • “Elite” clan chat will be auto-joined for elite players (if not already full).
      • De-ironing:
        • If you wish to de-iron, you have to options:
          • IF you were solo:
            • You can de-iron to either Regular Ironman, or to Classic mode. The choice is yours.
          • IF you were duo:
            • You can ONLY de-iron to Classic. Since you had the trading ability, you can never be a regular ironman again.
      • Gold:
        • Similar to Classics, Elites receive half the usual gold. This is because we allow Elites to de-iron to Classic, and do not want to allow people to smuggle more gold than there should be into the Classic economy.
      • Unique Item:
        • Since the Elite Ironman don’t have a gold Ironman set, an item to signify their status has been added: The Champion’s cape.
          • This cape will be give to every Elite Ironman, and can be re-obtained from Paul if lost.

  • Duo Slayer
    • You can now partner up with another player on your Slayer tasks!
      • How to partner up/unpartner:
        • Use an Enchanted gem (purchased from Slayer store) on another player to partner up with them!
          • You and the other player must both:
            • Be online
            • Not already have a Slayer task or a Slayer partner.
        • Once you send a request, the other player will have to confirm. Once confirmed, you will be partnered up!
          • If you already have a Slayer task, your new partner will be given the same task.
      • How it works:
        • When you kill an assigned slayer monster you receive full Slayer points for the kill.
          • If your partner is nearby (within 64 steps), you will split the experience at a 75%/25% split for that kill. The killer will receive 75%, and the partner 25%. Additionally, the # of kills they need for their task will also be deducted.
      • What’s the point?
        • Duo Slayer is simply a way to work with your friends towards tasks. There isn’t a huge added benefit, but you do receive 10% extra Slayer points from completing tasks when you’re in a duo.
          • Additionally, since you receive Slayer points whenever you complete a task, there is a slight benefit to completing the tasks more quickly in a duo.
      • Can I partner with anyone?
        • Yes. Regardless of game modes, you can choose anyone to be your Slayer partner. If your experience rates are different, you will not receive more experience than you usually would. The base experience is split, and then your mode multiplier is factored in. You can only have Slayer partner at a time, though.
      • What happens if I cancel our task/complete our task?
        • Your partner must be online to change your task. If they are not online and you need to cancel your task or get a new one, you’ll have to unpartner with that player.
        • If your partner is online, you can cancel/change your task as you normally would, and your partner will be put on the same task.
      • NOTE:
        • When selecting a task as a duo, both of your Slayer levels are factored in. For example, if one player has 20 Slayer and the other has 95 Slayer, you cannot get Abyssal demons as a task since one of the players doesn’t have the requirements.

  • Lizardman Shaman Cave:
    • The Lizardman Shaman cave is now added! Due to crowding issues at times, we’ve decided to implement these caves.
      • Players will no longer be limited to the previous 3 Shamans, but can now fight an extra 10 Shamans within the caves.
        • The cave can be accessed from the usual Lizardman area. You will see a cave there that you can enter.
    • Notes:
      • The caves are single-combat, so only 1 shaman can attack you at a time.
      • Dwarf multi-cannons can not be used within these caves.

  • Server performance improvements:
    • Recently, we’ve devoted some time into resolving the issues that cause the server to have occasional lag spikes at around the ~4-5 day uptime mark. We’re confident that some recent changes we’ve made to the game engine code will help to greatly alleviate this issue and may solve it permanently.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Varrock armour (chest plates) and Black wizard robes (t and g) now cover your body without “holes”.
    • Fixed a bug that allowed you to change between custom skin colours once you already had one (eg. Going from red to yellow skin at the Make over mage)
    • Fixed broken no-clip ladder in Ape Atoll.
    • Zul-andra teleport can no longer be worn.
    • Rune pouch fix:
      • Wrath runes no longer show up as “faded” in the Rune pouch interface. You can now store 5, 10, or X number of wrath runes in your pouch as with any other rune.
    • Karambwan fishing fixed:
      • The fishing spots on the Karamja dock now allow you to fish Karambwan as intended.
    • Object interaction bug:
      • Fixed a bug which allowed you to interact with objects (eg. A Runecrafting altar) from afar.
        • This also includes the same sort of bug with Item-on-object actions.

      • This command will now take all Ironmen to Paul.
  • Ironman shop update:
    • Home teleport tablets added to Ironman shop for the time being.
      • Once tab creation in Construction is added, this will be removed.
  • Fixed Trade bug:
    • Sometimes, when trying to trade an ironman/classic and not being able to, if you opened the equipment interface after and equipped an item, you would potentially lose that item permanently. This has been patched.

    • Takes you directly to the appeals section on the forum.
  • Easter/April fools events removed:
    • The Easter bunny NPCs and the full event have been removed, as well as the fake Partyhat drops and the Corporeal beast Elysian dust.
  • Abyssal sire fix:
    • Sometimes the loot dropped under Abyssal sire would be on a tile that could not be looted. This has been fixed, and the loot should always appear on a lootable tile.
  • Herblore secondary spawns:
    • Spawns such as Snape grass, whiteberries, etc. will now respawn at a much faster rate. The previous rate of 30-45 seconds for respawn has been changed to 10-15 seconds.
    • Zamorak wine updates:
      • All Wine of Zamorak drops will now be noted, including drops from the following NPCs:
        • Chaos Fanatic, Cerberus, Kalphite Queen, Greater Nechryael, Balfrug Kreeyath, Zakl’n Gritch, and Tstanon Karlak.
