#410374 ICE [Ironman/Classic/Elite] PVM/PVP/SKILLING

Posted by Ryuu on 19 September 2021 - 12:29 AM

Discord Tag - Deran#1964

How long have you been in ICE? - I've been in ICE since early 2019.

What position are you applying for? - Captain or Lieutenant if deemed unworthy due to my absence.

Have you ever been in a staff position or position of power? - Yes, I've been a staff member in numerous private servers and I was a Captain in ICE. I don't have any leadership experience in real life situations though.

If so, where and what did your duties entail? (Put N/A if not) - I helped manage the community, advertise the clan and held some events occasionally.

How much time do you spend on Alora and in the CC daily? - I'm always in the ICE CC when I'm not raiding. I usually spend around 3-4 hours in-game on weekdays and 5-6 hours on the weekends.

Being in the Discord is REQUIRED. Are you willing to be active in the Discord and attend weekly meetings? - Absolutely, that's not a problem.

Why would you like to work with us? - I already know that this is a fantastic community filled with great people. I'd like to help the clan grow and help it stay #1.

What skills do you possess that would make you a good addition to our team? - I'd say I'm a great guy and I'm always happy to help.

Is there anything else you would like for us to know when considering your application? - I'm idiot

#409612 Hard mode Theatre of Blood rewards

Posted by Laardii on 11 September 2021 - 05:45 PM

What is your suggestion?: Tweaking ToB HM rewards

Is this in OSRS?: Yes

Has this suggestion been accepted already?: Not that I know of

How would this benefit Alora?:
Making drop rates closer to OSRS rates would bring more of an 1:1 feel. Whilst I've enjoyed seeing more purples in HM than in regular ToB, rates seem to be a bit off based on the data I got from #game_news channel on Alora discord.
As of now, we have seen these drops from ToB HM:
- Total amount of drops so far: 228
- Avernic defender hilt: 23
- Holy/Sanguine kits: 26
- Justiciar faceguard: 42
- Justiciar chestguard: 36
- Justiciar legguards: 35
- Sanguinesti staff: 31
- Ghrazi rapier: 28
- Scythe of Vitur: 7
Based on numbers and explanation of drop rates @Omicron posted on another topic
https://www.alora.io...s/#entry409538 there should've been a 27% increase of "good loot" drops, these being weapons and Justiciar pieces. On OSRS regular ToB rates these items are on a rate of 2/19 when hitting the drop table. Currently, Justiciar pieces have drop rate close to 1/6 (~3,15/19) on average per piece, when Ghrazi rapier and Sanguinesti staff have an average drop rate of around 1/8 (~2,4/19). Compared to OSRS regular ToB rates where Scythe of Vitur has a drop rate of 1/19 when hitting the table, Aloras current rate on HM is closer to 1/33.

Based on these numbers, mentioned 27% boost on the "good loot" table only seems to make Justiciar pieces 3/19 instead of 2/19 when hitting the table.

I have two possible changes for the droprates:
1. Using the rolls currently allocated to Holy/Sanguine kits to be used on Avernic/Rapier/Sanguinesti rolls, since Justiciar and these two weapons should have the same weight on the drop table.

1 - Scythe of Vitur

3 - Ghrazi rapier
3 - Sanguinesti staff
3 - Justiciar faceguard
3 - Justiciar chestguard
3 - Justiciar legguards
3 - Avernic defender hilt

2. If the first suggestion lowers the Avernic rate too much, doubling the amount of rolls on the table and using following weightings:
3 - Scythe of Vitur
5 - Ghrazi rapier

5 - Sanguinesti staff
5 - Justiciar faceguard
5 - Justiciar chestguard
5 - Justiciar legguards
10 - Avernic defender hilt

In 1789, unrest grew from the French people. Dissatisfied with their current regime that gave privileges to, and treated the French ruling class and nobility as higher citizens, while simultaneously failing to meet the needs of the common people. The French people battled against this ruling class for egalitarianism, and equality of life regardless of their place within their current regime.

While many men were focused upon equality of life during this time, a French politician and physician, named Joseph-Ignace Guillotin was focused on equality of punishment, and death, regardless of class. He revolutionized a machine prototype previously devised by the then king's physician, and changed the outcome of the French Revolution forever.

I'm glad to announce that since our previous thread marking our return, things have shifted dramatically.

After releasing it we sat and watched the fireworks that resulted from forcing our competition out of the wilderness, even going as far to watch them congregate in voice chat immediately after and attempt to rationalize what had just happened to them.

Paragon discord has been VERY quiet since learning the news that they are absolutely INFESTED with spies, more and more members of theirs realizing the sinking ship they're apart of and attempting to save themselves via spying. Internally, they’ve been attempting to quell their members fear, trying to brainwash them that we would be leaving August 25th due to the re-release of Deadman Mode on 07!

unknown.png

We’d like to formally announce, regardless of what Lieutenant ‘gim crohn’ has attempted people into believing: We will be staying, this onslaught will NOT be stopping for the foreseeable future!

Paragon leadership has been HARD at work though MAC muting our members for scathing insults such as “Donkey” and “Victim”, filling up their VERY active NSFW channel, and hosting PvP events that we took EVERY prize from.

unknown.png

We’ve even caught them out in multi a few times, attempting to regain control over the wilderness that was once theirs. The results went as anyone would expect!

Wait… while writing this we’ve JUST now noticed something.

Look closer.

What’s that..?

Accidentally killing their OWN members! Maybe they took THIS time as an opportunity to spy hunt! Odd strategy but alright!

unknown.png

We’re going to do this in sections. Our kills on Paragon since our previous thread, a few cheeky kills we picked up on randoms, our exhibit on the namechanging creature known as Brad Jr/xPUNISHERx/Oregon Rs, and one of the biggest kills in recent Alora history we’ve been saving to announce for this thread.

That’s fun, we know. But we also know what you’re really here for.

And we didn’t skimp on the fun stuff this time.

Let’s take a formal tour of Paragon discord.

Welcome to #members-lobby, once a bustling, thriving place, it’s since gone quiet or members are only spamming gifs, afraid of what eyes may be watching!

Here we can find such beauties as:

Lieutenant Realmungard trying to convince people that the problem ACTUALLY is that they’re giving us fights, and that simply hiding until we left would be a viable strategy!

unknown.png

unknown.png

Spy paranoia!

And much more!

Now, welcome to #pk-lewt, their dedicated PVP channel (although they complain they AREN’T a pvp clan), only accessible by members with their @Shooter rank, (fortunately, that wasn’t an issue for us!)

Here we can find such goodies as:

unknown.png

To Gain unsuccessfully attempting to mass a whole THREE members to fight us!

It seems like low morale has been a thing amongst their ranks for quite a while, look at this time they couldn't pull ANYONE for a fight with Aftermath in the past!

unknown.png

Absolutely brutal!

We can also find things such as killpics (however rare they may be between the barrages of unsuccessful spamming)!

unknown.png

Truly remarkable, astounding, phenomenal.

For our final look through Paragon discord, swiftly stepping by the VERY active NSFW channel, let’s take a look at #announcements, the center for knowledge regarding Paragon activities!

unknown.png

Very sweet! We hope that possibly this thread will be the subject of their next movie night together!

unknown.png

Very sad! Always depressing when a leader has to step down from his clan!

We don’t know what’s next in store for us regarding Paragon, but we have NO doubts that if there isn’t loot due to them hiding, atleast we will be entertained from our internal surveillance!

unknown.png

This post was made with thoughts and prayers for previous member ‘smackingthat’, a senseless causality due to the rampant toxicity inside Paragon. We wish him the best in whatever he chooses to pursue next. Very tragic.

#407164 Realism Changes/Suggestions/Options

Posted by Mack on 22 August 2021 - 05:57 PM

I think this post identifies your main flaws as well.

You come back to realism after a long break.  Find out you can't buy your way through.

Complain about how TP doesn't sell as fast as you're used to... how items don't have set prices...

So you try to get a suggestion passed to allow you to go to classic without transferring ranks, citing a bad eco as your primary reason.

Then when you get called out for your poor reasoning... you switch over to complaining about Alan's high prices and market manipulation.

Buying items and selling items is how an economy works bro.

Any player can sell any item for any price.  No one is forcing people to buy.

If you want to buy uncut diamonds at 20k each, that's on you.  That's not manipulation.

You... and no one else... decided your crafting experience and time was worth that amount.

If I want to buy vote books on normie and sell them on realism, that's not also market manipulation.

Any realism player is welcome to do the same on normie.

But if they're too lazy to... I just offer them an easier alternative.

Don't like my prices?  Don't buy from me.

The problem isn't me.  The problem isn't the realism economy.  The problem is you.

You don't want to grind.  You don't want to sell items cheaper.

Just keeping it real.

This is up there among the dumbest, most ignorant, things I've read on the forums. Believe me that is saying something considering I dealt with appeals for over two years of people pretending their "brother" or "cousin" committed the offenses on their accounts.

Perhaps the reason this strikes you so personally is because you quite literally try to control and manipulate the Realism game mode and markets. You and your cult force players to sell things cheaper just for you to buy them and list them at your prices. This isn't an issue with KP considering handfuls of Realism players, past and present, have reached out to him agreeing with his points. It's actually quite sad that they're too scared to speak up publicly on the matter because you will cut them off from the "homie" deals and they'll be forced to progress as an ironman in an economy game mode.

Just keeping it real. :)

#407076 Realism Changes/Suggestions/Options

Posted by KP on 22 August 2021 - 06:53 AM

What is your suggestion?:

I believe that Realism Player should have the option do change to classic, as it feels like the natural option if they don't want to play the gamemode anymore.

Is this in OSRS?:

N/A

Has this suggestion been accepted already?:

Highly doubt it

How would this benefit Alora?:

It would make people play on the account they love without being crippled with difficulties they absolutely didn't sign up for.

As it currently stands, Realism is nothing more than a bigger GIM gamemode, with the other 90% of players killing revenants.
The economy is ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED. Theres barely any endgame items circulating, and supplies cost fortunes. Some of the players that have ludicrous amounts of GP simply use it to swap, or try to.
I respect this grind a lot, and the difficulties only small amounts of players managed to overcome, but when I personally picked this gamemode I didn't sign up for GIM with very low XP rates. The challenge in the gamemode was the XP rate, not trading for items. I don't find it a challenge to pay 80-100K for a super restore, while not being able to sell me PvM drop, unless I accept votebooks/boosters.
My Suggestion is to have an option for whoever wants, to change to the classic gamemode. The economy will only become worse, so a bit of a hot take would be that it is time to merge the economies. That would be disrespectfull for any legends that managed have insanely good accounts on the respective gamemode, so for now I would be very happy with the option to remain on a low XP rate gamemode, where I don't have to get absolutelly robbed if I want to buy something, and look at my PvM drops die out in the trading post.
To sum it up, I signed up to grind it out on a very challenging XP rate, not a Very challenging trading  post. I have been through this with classic already, and I didn't sign up for that either.

A small example, not the best but you get the point:

iHg7hWt.png

jkAJXS8.png

g6JsB1t.png

^ In no way shape or form did a realism player sign up to get extorted for every item, or to have no endgame items availiable to buy/sell.

Much love and thank you for reading it.  <3

#377471 Feedback October 2020

Posted by Mack on 19 October 2020 - 05:47 PM

I'd like to say it's about time someone has addressed these topics, but sadly that would be far from the truth. Though communication has improved some, it still has an extremely long way to go. Unless it's made a priority, and other staff members are given the trust to aid with these issues, things will continue to slip back into the same poor state. I won't delve into the rest of the matters because this isn't the place and to be frank, it's all been said before, but I'd like clear up what happened with Crack the Clue.

Crack the Clue:

The Crack the Clue event was something that we were looking forward to doing. A unique event that paid homage to Old School Runescape with our own Alora twist. Code 002 and I had been working on the project for a few weeks, figuring out the clues, testing potential clue hints with other Administrators, and communicating with Omicron on what types of things we could and couldn't do to make the event both challenging and engaging. We were nearly finished with the clues when we found out that there was going to be a new game mode announced, Realism. The timing coincidentally collided with the launch of another new OSRS-based RSPS. To make the new game mode more enticing a unique armor set was added, which just so happened to be our reward for Crack the Clue, the Ornate Armor Set. So with half of our rewards being thrown out the window, Code 002 and I decided to scrap the project. An unfortunate end to what was sure to be a fun event, but we hope you understand.

11/10 Post & took a lot of what I've been wanting to say but am honestly afraid to because I know my ranks will fly if I do so.

With the 'troubles' coming to Alora soon, delaying updates & releasing a donator rank, which will fuck custom prices much more, seems to be a few steps in the wrong direction.

Loc dev blog updates?

It's a damn shame that posts like these won't change a thing, only $ talks on Alora.

#377430 Feedback October 2020

Posted by Kq head on 19 October 2020 - 01:21 PM

“The main piece of content CoX has been left in this atrocious state for over a month, so we are adding a new donator rank??!”

Eternal Donator Rank

Anyone else notice this new Eternal Donator rank? As far as myself, and many others in the community that I've talked with are aware, this rank was never proposed, polled, or even mentioned to anyone. Everyone I’ve talked with seems to agree that this is a clear cash grab, and honestly, a slap in the face to most of us. Moving on.. What perks could this new donator rank possibly even offer? Any perks that could possibly be offered to match the cost of the rank would be incredibly overpowered and game breaking. The opinion the community holds on donator ranks is already that the highest rank that is worth the cost is uber, so why would anyone in their right mind pay for a potential $20,000 (potentially higher) rank?

For an example, look at the drop rate differences from donator ranks… (While this is a very black and white example, it gets the point across that the rank truly doesn’t provide a benefit worth its price) The Corporeal Beast drops the Elysian Sigil at a 1/2697 rate for non-donors. For uber-donators, that is reduced to 1/2552, and for immortal-donators a 1/2370 chance. Estimating that efficient players can get 30 kills per hour, it would save an immortal-donator 10.9 hours when compared to a non-donator. A $10,000 donator rank is theoretically only saving the player approximately 11 hours, more than $900 per hour saved. Think about what master and immortal donators did to the CoX prices.. How much further can we buff drop rates before it gets to be too much?

What’s more realistic is that players (if any even tried) would try and buy the rank with in game gold, buying custom transfers. Considering the on-going rate for $100 custom donations is 3b gold, at a 1:4 rate it would cost a single player 150b gold to obtain the rank from scratch. The benefits that this new rank would have to provide the player to be worth the price would have to be so incredibly overpowered that it would break the game in no time at all. Not to mention… how many players could even afford to buy that, maybe 2? Even so, they would likely have to dump their entire banks to afford it.

Something myself and a few others in the community have discussed as a better alternative would be paying for rank transfers. We understand that there is a cost of running the server, and the players are willing to do that, but a new donator rank isn’t the best way to go about it. Players being able to pay to transfer their donor ranks from account to account is a service that is much higher in demand than a higher tier donor rank. Not only does this accomplish bringing in more income to keep the server going, it also fills a huge need that the community has been asking for. How many players have left Alora because they wanted to play a new account and didn’t have the option to transfer their rank to a new account? Countless players have offered $100 and more to transfer their ranks, and those same players might come back if this was an option.

Lack of communication

Take a look at Oldschool Runescape’s method for development and why the current version of OSRS is a much bigger success than its prior Runescape 2 (pre-eoc). They run 30 question content polls at least once a month, and develop content around the results. If something doesn’t pass their threshold of being approved by the community (75%), they don’t bother implementing it unless they further reach out to the community, ask what changes would need to be made to see the content implemented, and then make said changes. While on Alora, the last major content (content that exceeds the “weekly update” time frame) poll took place in September of 2017. It has been over 3 years since one of these polls were posted. Here is the post for those looking…

A development focused on what the players would like to see, rather than what content the developers would like to see. This is the style of development that Alora needs to implement. The players keep Alora alive, and players won’t stay when their thoughts and ideas aren’t being listened to. While Omi can, and should, make decisions for the server that he feels are ultimately the best, he should also take into account the ideas that the community has a strong passion for (ex: reworking Olm and ToB, adding nightmare instances and an overall combat system rework). Releasing content like Castle Wars and LMS are not what the players are asking for, yet they get implemented above all else and before fixing what the players are clearly asking for.

Instead of leaving the players, in the dark when it comes to “major” content releases, create development blogs more often. There were 2 back in July and August for the Chambers of Xeric rework, and it was very exciting to see an update like that just around the corner. Knowing what updates are coming and thinking about preparing for those updates always brings back my passion to play because it sets me on a direct path for a cool new piece of content.

Maybe development blogs are something that take up too much of Omi’s time, but there are a ton of dedicated players on the staff team that I am sure would be thrilled to help with the process of testing content and putting together a development blog for the community.

Side note. What happened to crack the clue?
ugKaxyC.png

Stupid update delays

This is one of the things that I will never understand the logic behind... Let's look at the most recent, and probably best example of this. The Chambers of Xeric rework is probably one of the best content updates Alora has seen in a long time; not only is it a good advertisement point, but it is also the cause of many old players returning. While I don’t agree with people saying “cOx iS iMpoSsible” I must admit I don’t see any logic behind delaying crucial bug-fixes, like the scaling of the top floor or the chests randomly disappearing for an entire month.

Another good example of this would be a very long time ago, when the skilling interfaces were updated to match OSRS. This update brought a crafting bug, that made the skill impossible to level early on, pretty much rendering the skill unusable for an entire week. Whether the reason is that a server restart would “annoy” players, or rather it was better to simply delay it a week so that the update would look bigger and better. It makes absolutely no logical sense.

As a player, all of this makes me feel so unappreciated on the server. To know that cash grabs and flashy update threads are clearly more important than the player’s experience, it truly saddens me.

I anticipate all of the discussions this may start, and I look forward to feedback from everyone within the community.

#377069 COX REVERT?!

Posted by C O Q on 16 October 2020 - 02:26 PM

In my opinion a TEMPORARY revert could be helpful, but not permanent. Reverting to the old COX until all the bugs and issues with the "new" cox can be fixed would be helpful to people who actually need items from COX and want to camp it. If there were no bugs or issues, the new cox is a great switch up from the way it used to be.
