#433919 Minimal Mondays - Minimal Clue Steps on Mondays

Edit: I wouldn't mind reducing steps for clues (maybe 50% chance to reduce steps by 1 for medium/easy, guaranteed by 1 for hard/elite/master) on mondays, but I think maybe a poll would suit this suggestion.

Hello everyone,

Hardcore Group Ironman is now live! Hop right into this new game mode and tournament to join the fun. There are many prizes to be won, for both group and solo tasks, so you're sure to find some objectives that suit your play-style.

Upon creating a fresh account (or one that has not finished the tutorial), you'll be able to select HCGIM and then create a group. The game mode is very similar to Group Ironman, so certain elements such as the Group Ironman Orb are shared between both. With that being said, the two game modes do not necessarily interact, and you can't mix GIM and HCGIM into groups. You'll find the full details below, make sure to look over them before starting your journey!

To celebrate the release of HCGIM, we're also running a store sale, so make sure to take advantage of the while you can!

  • HCGIM Store Sale:
    • 25% Bonus tokens:
      • To celebrate the launch of HCGIM, we're running a store sale and providing 25% bonus tokens on all purchases!
    • Custom donation bonus:
      • For the duration of the sale, all custom donations for total spent will now provide 4.5x towards your rank rather than the usual 4x.
    • Sale items:
      • The following times are currently discounted:
        • Elite void set
        • Drop booster scrolls
        • Gauntlet bundle
        • Farmers blessing
        • Cosmetic mystery boxes
        • GIM Removal Ticket

Aside from the HCGIM release and tournament, we've also packed in many fixes and improvements below :)

  • Hardcore Group Ironman mode is now available!
    • Designed to be the ultimate team challenge, this new game mode will allow you to partner up with up to 4 other friends and try your best to stay alive while working your way to the top of the hiscores!
      • Experience rate:
        • 6x base rate
          • This rate is identical to the GIM rate, which faster than Elite Ironman mode (4x) and Classic mode (5x), but not as fast as Hardcore Ironman mode (8x). This will tie in nicely with the regular GIM rate should players die and lose their status, as their experience achievements will hold the same value.
      • Experience bonuses:
        • The same limitations of GIM mode applies to HCGIM. Typical XP bonuses such as the Well of Goodwill will give 50% of the usual bonus (15% rather than 30%).
      • Invitations:
        • Every group will have a maximum of 5 lifetime joins. This means that only 5 players will ever be part of the group, so even if all 5 join and 3 leave, that team is permanently 3 players. Once the group is fully formed, it is formed permanently.
      • Kicks:
        • Players can be kicked from the team, which will cause them to lose their Hardcore status and revert to a regular Group Ironman.
        • This does not count as a death for the time at the moment, but nobody can take the place of the player who left. For example, if your team was 5 players (maxed), it will now permanently be 4 players.
      • Lives:
        • Every time someone joins your team, a life is added. If the team only ever has 3 players join, there will be 3 lives, and after players die a total of 3 times, the entire team is stripped of the Hardcore title.
      • De-ironing:
        • De-ironing is possible if you are NOT in a group. You will de-iron to regular Group Ironman. Experience rates are identical, but you will be stripped of your HCGIM armor first.
          • If you are already in a group, you'll have to first be kicked from your group, which would remove your Hardcore status regardless.
      • Hiscores:
        • The Hiscores will be available sometime within the next 24 hours, and it will be similar to the regular Group Ironman Hiscores, but will also show a few more details, such as:
          • Fallen groups (marked by a strikethrough the name of the group)
          • # of deaths in the group
          • # of invitations remaining for the group
      • Deaths:
        • WARNING: Unlike Hardcore Ironman, most deaths are dangerous for HCGIM.
          • This includes areas like Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood, Pest Control, The Inferno, Fight Caves, Quest boss fights, which will all now be dangerous deaths.
          • The only safe areas are:
            • Duel Arena
            • Clan Wars
            • Last Man Standing
            • Castle Wars
            • When using an Inferno training ticket (regular Inferno will still count as a death)
        • Once the team loses all of its lives, the entire time will be downgraded to regular Group Ironman, but the group will stay intact.
          • The group will still show up with all of the team mates who were part of it at the time when it was downgraded, and the Hiscores will forever list them with a strike through their names.
        • Solo death:
          • Even if you are NOT part of a group yet, a death will still strip you of your Hardcore status.
      • Bonds/donations:
        • Bonds are the only item you can transfer from your main to your HCGIM.
        • The same donation rules that apply to other ironmen/classics apply to HCGIM (mostly cosmetic purchases only).
      • Clan chat:
        • “Group” clan chat will be auto-joined for GIM players (if not already full). This is the same as regular Group Ironman, given the many similarities.
      • Gold:
        • Similar to GIM, HCGIM receive half the usual gold.
  • Donator Perks:
    • Cannonball smithing:
      • Super/Extreme donators now get 1 extra cannon ball from smithing (5 instead of 4).
      • Legendary/Uber donators now get 2 extra cannon balls from smithing (6 instead of 4).
      • Master/Immortal donators now get 3 extra cannon balls from smithing (7 instead of 4).
      • Eternal donators now get 4 extra cannon balls from smithing (8 instead of 4).
      • No extra experience will be awarded from the extra cannon balls.
      • Extra cannonballs will also be given when using the Double ammo mould, making it possible to create a maximum of 12 cannonballs per steel bar.
    • Max Cannonballs:
      • The maximum amount of cannonballs a player can load into their cannon has been increased for specific donator ranks.
        • Eternal donators can now load 60 cannonballs into their cannon.
        • Immortal donators can now load 50 cannonballs into their cannon.
        • Master/Uber donators can now load 45 cannonballs into their cannon.
        • Legendary/Extreme donators can now load 40 cannonballs into their cannon.
        • Super donators can now load 35 cannonballs into their cannon.
  • Tithe Farm Interface:
    • Tithe farm now has an overlay when inside which tracks the current seed being grown, the players total tithe farm points, and the number of fruits they have in the sack.
  • Music Changes:
    • Music for certain areas of the game (mainly free to play, such as the Wilderness, Varrock, Falador, etc…) will now automatically cycle through a few area-specific songs, rather than just play the one-song designated to that region.
      • For example, in Varrock, one of four regional songs will play, and once it’s finished, it will choose the next song in the list.
        • Once all unique songs for that area are finished playing, if the player is looping, it will restart from the beginning, otherwise the music will stop playing.
      • This also means that when changing regions in these areas, unless the music in that area is different, the currently playing song will continue.
    • Added music to over 180 new regions around the game, including many dungeons/islands/less-ventured areas that did not have music before.
  • Fairy Ring Changes:
    • Players can now access the Isle of Souls (BJP) and Necropolis (AKP) fairy rings.
    • Players can now filter the fairy lists by either code (“AKP”) or destination name “Necropolis”)
    • Fixed a bug with the Fairy ring travel log not setting the proper code after searching sometimes.
  • Group Ironman Structural Changes:
    • To preface these changes, any player/group that is currently on cooldown must wait the original cooldown out.
      • For example, any players that have a join cooldown must wait until the original cooldown has expired for these new changes to apply.
    • Join Cooldown Changes:
      • The cooldown for how long a player must wait before joining a new GIM group (which is set after they join their current group) has been reduced from 25 days to 3 days.
    • Team Kick Cooldown Changes:
      • The cooldown between kicking team members (excluding self-kicks) has been reduced from 30 days to 7 days.
    • Max Transfers:
      • All Group ironman can now join up to 5 groups, rather than 3.
        • This was 5 for any GIM players registered before April 2020, and therefore they will experience no change.
    • Trade Restrictions:
      • When a member joins a new group, the items they can exchange with their teammates will now be restricted for the first 25 days that they are in the group.
        • These restrictions do not apply to accounts that join a group within 24 hours of creation, assuming that it is the first group they’ve ever joined.
        • Restricted players will not be able to give/receive any item worth over 50 million gp.
          • So for example, if a new player joins a group, they will not be able to withdraw/receive a twisted bow from the shared bank/their teammates, but they will be able to withdraw/receive a blowpipe.
          • Restricted players will also be unable to deposit/give their teammates any items over this restriction value, until the restrictions are lifted.
            • This includes dropped items, which will not show up on the ground for the other members.
          • These restrictions do not apply to total value, so for example, members can still trade each other over 50m gp, since 1 coin is only worth 1 gp, and therefore lower than the restriction threshold.
  • Item Spawn Expansion:
    • We’ve expanded the item spawns around the world, adding over 350 item spawns.
      • The item spawn locations will be similar to how they are in OSRS, with the only exception being the respawn timer on Alora being set to a static 10 second respawn (as it was previously), since players cannot hop through multiple worlds to collect items.
  • Runelite Overlay Changes:
    • The Snap corner for Runelite overlays near the minimal will now shift down a few pixels to make room for the Xp tracker if it’s present.
    • Item overlays (slayer kill tracker, inventory tags, etc…) should no longer be drawn on every interface.
      • Previously, these overlays would draw on some unwanted interfaces, such as the collection log, bank (for some overlays), shops, etc…
    • Players can now drag some specific interface components around to wherever they’d like on the screen, similar to dragging a runelite overlay.
      • The following interface components are now draggable:
        • Chambers of Xeric points/timer overlay
        • Wilderness KDR overlay
        • The Gauntlet timer overlay
        • GWD Killcount overlay
        • Tithe Farm overlay
        • Pyramid Plunder overlay
        • Theatre of Blood boss health bars
        • Wilderness Skull/level overlay
        • The Nightmare health bar
        • The Nightmare totem status overlay
        • Tempoross overlay
        • Nex health bar
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Players can now store at most 100m in their LMS coffer.
    • Fixed a bug where there would visually be a small gap on the top/left sides of the screen on resizable when a full screen interface (screen fade, for example) was visible.
    • Fixed a bug where the Jewelled crabs wouldn't reflect the focus sometimes if a pet was on the same tile as them.
    • Fixed a bug where box traps/bird traps would not disappear if a player logged out while a chinchompa/bird was being captured.
    • Players can no longer enter the Gauntlet with a pet following them.
    • Fixed a bug where players could sometimes get Brimstone keys on a Konar kraken task when not killing krakens.
    • Players will no longer be placed onto the wilderness agility log when using the Bounty hunter target teleport spell.
    • Fixed a bug where The Nightmare (not phosani) wouldn’t properly track on the loot tracker.
    • Fixed a bug where some player's Theatre of Blood killcount was not properly showing up on the Runelite Hiscores plugin.
    • Fixed a bug where the game style (2010/2007) text would overlap the npc attack options menu.
    • Fixed a bug where a player who was being attacked/in combat with a Revenant could not attack another player in Singles-plus, unless the other player attacked first.
      • Players can now initiate an attack on another player in singles-plus even if they are in combat with an npc (but not a player).
    • Fixed a bug where the mark for sacrifice color effect visually lasted too long sometimes.
    • Players can no longer interact with the double doors under the Morytania pub.
    • Fixed a bug where some Runecrafting altars (cosmic, body, mind) had incorrect object spawns.
    • Fixed a bug where 2 of the same Nylocas would spawn after a big one was killed.
    • Fixed a bug with the positioning of the Trading Post History interface.
    • Dawn’s energy orbs will now disappear when she is killed.
    • Players can now range past the energy orb objects that Dawn spawns.
    • Fixed a bug where the pathfinding when attacking the Abyssal Portal was not working.
    • Fixed a bug with range combat pathing where players would always move within the same distance of their target, regardless of if they were using a longer range bow, or the long-range attack style.
      • Players will now path slighter further away from their targets when attacking with range if they’re using a longer range bow.
    • The Abyssal Sire respiratory systems can now be clicked on from anywhere, rather than needing to be within attack range to avoid the "I can't reach that!" message.
    • Players will no longer be able to outrun Nex's Ice prison attack.
    • Looting the stone chest will now be properly tracked in the Loot tracker plugin.
    • Players can no longer use special characters in their Eternal donator titles.
    • Fixed a bug where the quest scroll option/teleport interface would sometimes trigger the wrong event.
      • An example of this might have been being teleport to a farmer’s blessing patch while changing skin colors.
  • Quality of Life:
    • Mining gloves (all 3 types) and magic secateurs will now go to the Reclaimables shop on death.
    • Players now have the option to prioritize the "walk-here" action over npc actions through the menu entry swapper plugin.
    • Players now have the option to prioritize the "walk-here" action over object actions through the menu entry swapper plugin.
    • Players can now choose to highlight the true tile or true southwest tile of an NPC using the NPC indicators plugin.
    • The time till level/time till goal will now show up in the Xp globes tooltip when hovering over the skill globe.
    • Players will no longer see any experience drops if they have the “Fake drops” option disabled in the experience tracker.
      • This does not count for damage drops.
        • For example, if a player has 200m in all skills, and fake drops disabled, then they will still see damage drops from combat actions, but no other experience drops.
    • The blocked experience icon will no longer show up if the player has damage drops enabled.
    • Players can now use the Home teleport spell/command when in PvP situations.
      • Previously this was removed to avoid giving players a free teleport when in PvP situations, and encouraging them to bring their own, however, since all normal spellbook teleports don’t have a rune cost, this feature was generally unnecessary.
    • Phosani’s Nightmare will now be separately tracked on the Loot tracker.
      • Previously it was classified as “The nightmare”.
    • Players will now have their cannon placed in their inventory if they have 4 or more inventory spaces, otherwise it will go to Nulodian.
    • Tempoross will no longer use it’s tsunami/lightning attacks if it has 10% or lower energy.
    • Attacking the spirit pool in the Tempoross minigame will now restore 3% run energy per attack.
    • Players marked for sacrifice by Nex or the Ancient godsword special attack will now have their color changed to match OSRS.
    • The default withdraw options in the bank interface will now be highlighted when the player hovers over them.
    • Added a placeholder to Sherlock's notes.

#433230 Hardcore Group Ironman Announcement - Over $1,000 in prizes!

Posted by Omicron on 10 June 2022 - 05:04 PM

On9It6e.png

Hello everyone,

Hardcore Group Ironman will soon be coming to Alora! We've been planning this new game mode for a little while now, and are happy to be able to finally share it with you all. HCGIM is a twist on the Group Ironman mode, adding an increased level of difficulty by only allowing a certain number of lives per team before you lose your Hardcore status. You'll have to work together with your team to stay alive, because once all of the lives are lost, the entire team is downgraded to regular Group Ironman, and taken off of the HCGIM highscores. The stakes are high, but so are the rewards, as only the most skilled players will stay alive long enough to make it to the top of the highscores while keeping their prestigious Hardcore status.

Launch date: June 19th, 2pm EST

The mechanics of this game mode are very similar to Group Ironman, such as the experience rate, shared storage, and so on, but with a separate highscores page, separate equipment, and of course the death mechanics.

Mode features:

  • Experience rate:
    • 6x base rate
      • This rate is identical to the GIM rate, which faster than Elite Ironman mode (4x) and Classic mode (5x), but not as fast as Hardcore Ironman mode (8x). This will tie in nicely with the regular GIM rate should players die and lose their status, as their experience achievements will hold the same value.
  • Death mechanics:
    • As of now, the death mechanics will closely follow HCIM mechanics, so any safe death for HCIM will also apply to HCGIM.
  • Experience bonuses:
    • The same limitations of GIM mode applies to HCGIM. Typical XP bonuses such as the Well of Goodwill will give 50% of the usual bonus (15% rather than 30%).
  • Group feature:
    • Similarly to GIM, you can form a group with up to 4 other players. The difference with HCGIM is that your group will share lives, and once the team has died 5x (or 3x if you are 3 players, for example), the hardcore status is dropped, and every player and the team itself will be downgraded to regular GIM.
  • Gold:
    • Similar to GIM, HCGIM receive half the usual gold.

Details are subject to change, but this should be a relatively accurate guideline for how the game mode will go.

As with any new game mode, what fun would it be without some friendly competition and some juicy prizes? Below are the details for the planned tasks, some being shared amongst the group and others being individual tasks. These are subject to slight changes as well, but should remain mostly accurate.

Rules:

  • If any HCGIM is found to have had help in any of these tasks from an outside player, they will be disqualified from receiving any prize in the tournament.
    • This also applies to raid groups, so if players are raiding with other players that are not part of their team, they will not be eligible for a prize.
  • Boss tasks, such as Corporeal beast, must be completed without any outside help from players who are not part of your team.
