From my understanding, Tob, Nex, and normal nightmare (not too sure) are bosses with the unique loot that gets randomly distributed to one member of the kill/raid party (MVP having a higher chance). I know drop boosters have an effect here, but I am unsure as to its exact mechanics due to the drop system.

For instance in a Nex kill with 21 people, let's say a horn rolls at (1/210) chance. In normal cases, everyone has about 1/21 chance of getting the horn with MVP having a slight advantage. If a drop booster is used, which of the following happens:

A) The booster increases the chance of horn to drop to begin with to about 1/183. Then everyone again has about an equal chance of obtaining the drop again. If this is case, would it not just be a waste for more than 1 person to use a booster?

B) The user of the drop booster has the 15% increased chance over everyone else given a unique rolls. If this is the case, if everyone used a drop booster, do they not just all cancel each other out?

or C) Something completely different

I have asked around in game and have gotten answers similar to "A" or "B". I was looking for staff clarification here. I apologize if I am completely wrong here about something.

Very interesting topic, to this day I do not fully trust drop boosters though.

For instance in a Nex kill with 21 people, let's say a horn rolls at (1/210) chance. In normal cases, everyone has about 1/21 chance of getting the horn with MVP having a slight advantage. If a drop booster is used, which of the following happens:

I'm gonna take a whack at this and go with option C

Nex
1/35 chance to land on Nex Table (used to be 1/43)

Nex Table
1helm
2helm
3body
4body
5leg
6leg
7vambraces
8vambraces
9vambraces
10horn
11horn
12hilt

Under normal circumstances, your team odds of receiving any rare drop from Nex is 1/35.

With a drop booster (1.15x), your team odds are 1/35 x 1.15 = 1/30.43 for any rare drop on the Nex Table

Converting team odds to individual odds

Reg player drop chance = R

MVP drop chance -> Mvp gets 10% bonus -> MVP = 1.1R -> R = MVP/1.1

In a group of 21 people -> a drop is split between 20 reg players and 1 mvp -> 1 = 20R + 1.1R

1 = 21.1R

R = 1/21.1

Therefore individual drop rate of regular player = 1/30.43 / 21.1 = 1/642.1

Calculating individual drop rate of MVP

MVP/1.1 = R and R = 1/21.1

MVP/1.1 = 1/21.1

MVP = 1/19.18

1/30.43 / 19.18 = 1/583.7

Therefore individual drop rate of MVP = 1/583.7

Calculating Horn Chance

2/12 or 1/6 chance of rolling horn once you hit the 1/35 or 1/30.43 (on booster) nex table.

So chance of getting a horn in a 21-man boosted team as a regular player = 1/642.1 x 1/6 = 1/3,852.6

So chance of getting a horn in a 21-man boosted team as a MVP =  1/583.7 x 1/6 = 1/3,502.2

So to summarize all that quick mafs....

1.  I believe the drop booster only boosts the 1/35 team nex rate by 15% to 1/30.43

2.  The drop booster does not affect the second 1-12 roll that determines which nex drop you get (like horn)

3.  The drop booster affects all team members equally.  It does not improve your individual split odds like MVP does.

4. Nex is not worth doing in 21 man teams

This is my best guess at how drop boosters affect Nex rates.  I could be wrong, so apologies in advance.

This information is based on how corporeal beast sigils are dropped.  I believe Nex works in a similar fashion.

With Crop, the drop booster affects the first roll to land on any sigil, but does not affect which sigil you get (it's still 1/7 to land on ely)

@ Real Alan . I hear you. I guess my only question is: Is it a waste for more than 1 person to pop a booster at the same time?

That's a great question for the game creator and shop manager.

As for the other bosses you mentioned...

Nightmare has 2 tables (orb / gear) per kill, so the math would be very different.

TOB isn't limited to 1 purple per team, so math would also be different.
