Hi everyone,

So I have been grinding my EIM for quite some time and it's not that I'm getting bored of it, just going a bit insane looking for the tbow and need something to do when i take breaks thats osrs related haha. But there has been an account I have ALWAYS wanted to do, and alora never had the plugin until recently.

I want to make a Tileman account on alora, and I will plan on recording it as well to turn into a series if it shows enough interest. But before I start this journey I wanted people to throw out some suggestions to me since an OSRS tileman differs greatly from an alora tileman. So here are some questions I have for the community to help me out with:

What gamemode should I do? I have never played an UIM once, and to be truthful it seems painful to enjoy. But too everyone else, does that seem like the only way to play a tileman in your opinion? if not what are some other recommendations/restrictions should I put in place if I were to play a different ironman status?

What do you think should be my starting area? Most tileman start in Lumbridge, but I feel like I should do something unique but at the same time also being possible to move on from. So was wondering if anyone else had an idea on starting locations that are physically possible to escape from with 1 tile to start, and with no items (assuming we drop all the starting equipment?)

One of the biggest questions on my mind, should I be allowed to have access to teleport wizard right away or have some kind of restriction that requires me to unlock it? (such as total level, total tiles, etc..) As this would make progression quite easier, I am unsure how to approach this feature. on one hand; it allows me to do a lot more in the game since there is only so many possible tiles to unlock in the game. on the other hand; it creates a much easier way to get around the game ALTHOUGH there is certain areas that are not coded into the game to be accessed without using the teleport wizard. What do you think?

And lastly, what should my end goal be for the account? being that it is alora and not OSRS there is many ideas to consider for an end of account goal, and I am unsure what one would be the most entertaining to go for.

Thank you all for any suggestions, help, and support you all give and I hope I can create some fun content for the alora community in the near future.

I would say choose a gamemode you'd be happy playing. It doesn't need to be UIM if it's just going to burn you out in a week.

As for starting area, you can pretty much choose anywhere skilling can be done at level one. There's a series on youtube where they spun a wheel and had 16 different starting locations,

from Land's End to North Ardougne. I'd watch that for some ideas.

I'd recommend putting a tile goal per teleport. Boss teleports requiring more tiles (1,000 tiles per boss? not sure might need tweaking), while skilling or PvP would require less.

The goal should be what you realistically envision yourself doing. Inferno? Completionist monkeys? Depends how far you're willing to take the account.

Good luck sir, I will be watching from the sidelines!

I always say make a grind that you can realistically stick to and enjoy. Some grinds are just too crazy and can become demotivating after a bit of time. I would love to have updates on your grind and good luck on what you decide! <3

@Dialect  thank you, that helps me decide on a few things. do you happen to have a link to that yt video? and was it on alora, since there is obviously some areas not coded in the same as osrs.

I think i will do the tile cost per boss, and training teleports as they both can make me progress very fast so have to make some kind of sacrifice.

the worst part about end game goal is I really dont know what would be worth it, i'm thinking ill do an eim so xp is as slow as it can be without the toxic osrs rates of realism. I have never done inferno on osrs, or my eim yet but planning to eventually try since it seems super hard and I like challenges. I'm wondering if maybe saying I do TOB as my end goal instead would be harder since I would need some kind of gear and stats. not to mention that I have only done TOB on leagues 2 and twice on alora where i was carried haha.

thank you nonetheless for the ideas, I'm planning to start it soon as it's something i can kinda afk on the side while playing my main

@More glory truthfully, I have always wanted to do an extreme 1 chunk like verf does as the afking doesn't bother me, but considering making content isn't my job its a LOT longer grind then i could do. but yes I will 100% be recording the whole thing, may even do a little bit of streaming if it shows some interest as I used to stream so i have all the gear for it. May have to make another account for it though since im unsure if it can get me banned to stream

I wish I knew what a tileman mode is. I might have to look it up. But I'll definitely be following this post and the grind you record if that becomes a thing. Good luck on your new adventures!

@3O5 its pretty much you randomly generate a "tile" in the game and you're stuck to it until you complete everything you possible can in that tile. There are some good youtubers who do that challenge for osrs, pretty intense.

@More glory ohh no, thats not the tileman I was going to be doing. this tileman mode is that you start on 1 tile, and every 1000xp (or whatever you set it to) you unlock another tile. I thought about doing that chunk challenge but its a bit difficult to do in alora since some areas are different or don't have certain things coded in

I challenge you to use all the knowledge you've acquired from playing elite ironman to progress through realism as fast as you can.

Realism is a 2x xp game mode, meaning leveling up will take a bit longer, but the xp rate will match the game content far better.

Take a moment and think about it.  All the variety in skilling takes place between level 1-99.  From level 99 to 200m, it's just rinse and repeat the best xp methods over and over again.  The slower xp rates on realism and limited supplies force you to come up with creative solutions to reach your goals.  On top of that, the slower xp also acts as a bottleneck, filtering out the weak players that quit within a week.

Here's how I like to think about it.

Realism is a bit like EIM with yourself (realism alt) and GIM with the rest of the Realists community.

The trading post is similar to a group bank, except its more of a group vending machine.

Each player can put items in there at whatever price they want.  Then they must patiently wait for purchases to go through.

It's a bit like throwing bait into the water and waiting for fishies to bite.

If you got no bites, you might need to switch your bait (aka your listed items or lower your price).

Basically, don't play this game alone.  It's too boring, and you don't have enough time to waste grinding every item yourself when you can easily go dry dupe after dupe.  Play this game to be a part of team and help each other reach our goals.

If you're interested in joining the Realists team feel free to reach out.

@Real Alan so there is a few ways I look at this; I would not be opposed to playing realism on tileman since the harder xp rates would make it more difficult yes. But I am not just playing straight realism mode, as the reason for this challenge is to give myself something new to do where I can chase that serotonin rush of accomplishing something again WHICH is the reason I started only playing ironman seeing the drop after so many days of grinding the same thing over and over again. So that brings it back to why I would prefer playing ironman on the tileman challenge as it would add so much more challenge to achievement. The benefit that realism would add, is that unlocking tiles would be significantly longer of a grind and make me think twice before unlocking a new tile/teleport
