•How would this work, and what's the issue? Currently people aren't fond of GIM being able to trade items, it's been considered a normal game mode with extra steps, ruining GIM integrity for players who want to play the game with friends, while also achieving things that mean something. Before anyone comments "ignore what people say/think", that shouldn't be an excuse to ruin game integrity of any ironman mode.
•What if I remove myself, or get kicked, from my group?
If a player is removed from the group, they will get a green helm and be considered an 'unranked' gim. They can still join other groups, and still create their own, with the warning that other irons will get the green helm as well if they join.
•What if a new account wants to join an already established group?
A NEW account can freely join any group without the risk of they, or the group, getting a green helm (given they haven't joined any group prior).
•What if my established account wants to join a group? The only way to avoid getting a green helm is if the established account wasn't in a group prior (even their own), to avoid any transfer of items/wealth.
•The group leader added a player and gave us all unranked status because of it, can I get my original satus back? The short answer is no, it's important you know who you're grouping with to avoid these issues.
•What about accounts that have bought/sold items/wealth prior? They will be grandfathered into being a regular group ironman, until they earn a green helm icon.
•What are the loopholes?
1. It would still be technically possible to buy/sell GIM items if the buyer is okay with making a brand new account and be perm locked to the sellers group (this would most likely happen if they're friends, or the seller is quitting GIM), this would only be possible once per account though. A possible deterrant is adding a restriction to not allow ANY account to receive items valued over 50m gp within the first 30 days AND Omicron would stop selling GIM cooldown removals for customs (currently any new account has 0 trade restrictions when joining a group).
2. GIM would still be able to sell their GIM items as 'non ranked gim' items by offloading to an alt, kicking them (getting unranked status), and selling off to others, which is possible on OSRS and I don't think it's a big issue.
•I bought GIM items and the seller 'ragged' me by kicking me from their group, giving me a green helm, will the seller be punished, and will I get my GIM status back? No, although you won't be punished by staff, you're intentially doing what we're trying to avoid, only real way around this is if the seller kicks themselves after the sale (ruining their own GIM status), but buying GIM items and taking this risk is on your own.
•What about EIM being able to buy/sell items? Although I would support a suggestion for EIM also getting an 'unranked' status, I only know GIM and it's current system, so I don't think I'm the person to make that suggestion.
•Isn't this a hypocritical coming from you?
Although I'm the largest offender of buying GIM items on my account 'itachi', it also has helped me learn the loop holes around the current system, and for anyone who's asked I always said I would've been a normal account if I could choose GIM xp rates and not get my bonus's from well and vote books slashed in half (like classic accounts). For comparisons sake, classic accounts are about half the xp rate of GIM.
As someone who has been in a group with someone who has bought large amounts of skilling supplies and items I Agree and Disagree with this. While I do agree with what you are saying I don't believe that you should be given the green helmet outright and there should be some type of leeway. I also don't fully agree with when someone with a green helmet is joining the group everyone else receives the helmet, this could possibly be changed to the person that invites someone with a green helmet receives the helmet themself so the whole group in its entirety isn't thrown under the bus. I myself have never bought or sold items on my GIM, but have left a few groups and have even been kicked for not playing for awhile because or IRL things.
If people are truly concerned by this; my personal opinion is it should just mimic OSRS - as an Ironman if you join any groups, you’re automatically set to green helm.
“ Unranked groups are a sub-category of Group Ironman Mode, which are group ironmen that are not listed on the Group Ironman HiScores. There are no trade restrictions or killcount requirements for unranked groups.
Additionally, current Ironman accounts can change to an Unranked Group Ironman and join a group that way. This is only one way, once an Ironman changes it cannot be reverted.
Should players wish to join a new group or invite a new player to their group, players can convert their existing Group Ironman status to unranked, removing their group from the HiScores.
A group that invites an experienced player will:
Become an Unranked group.
Lose Prestige status (if applicable).
Lose any trade restrictions within the group.
Lose Hardcore status (if applicable).
Be removed from the Group Ironman HiScores, along with every other member of their group.
If players leave an existing group, they may also choose to adopt Unranked status:
Players can become Unranked via a third option found in the group leaving interface. This is irreversible.
The option will remove you from the GIM HiScores, and will not remove the player's items.”
Correct me if I'm wrong, there is still a loophole. Some who wants to make a GIM can make two GIM accounts. Have one of account buy the GIM bank or item(s), leave the group (get green helm). Make a new group (gets green helm) and then his other account can join that group and have the bought items or bank and still have blue helm because he didn't join any other group prior.

If I’m reading that correctly: Player makes Account 1 and Account 2 in the same group.
Account 2 leaves the group - becomes green Helen.
Account 1 remains - keeps blue helm.
Account 2 buys items from another group.
Account 2 joins original group with Account 1?
If so, any changes to the group will cause everyone to become green helm. Even if original members come back. Because a group is receiving someone who is already green Helen, or grey helm on OSRS, the whole group will because green helms due to the fact or the possibility of item trading.
That’s how it works in OSRS.

You make 2 accounts. Both groupless. Then 1 makes a group and the seller joins. Do his business, then seller leaves and account 2 joins the group. Because account 2 never joined a group, he would still have his blue helm.
Using this as the loophole

Apologies, didn’t know you were referring to Variants proposal.
I agree with you, that shouldn’t be a thing. It should be inline with OSRS as I posted above.

Rn I am solo Gim and gonna probably stay that way.I dont care what other think about my gamemode or whatever. I got 0 items that I bought or someone else grinded for me. So I couldn't care less for some random calling me buyman mode or something. Just play the way you prefer and thats it
If we waited for OSRS to release GIM first, we could've implemented their system where if you received items from a member that wasn't in your group originally then you'd receive the green helm icon.
Too late to do that now though and it would be unfair for GIM players that make accounts now.
No support.
Pretty much just going to quote my reply from the previous thread. Too late to do anything now and current GIM's would have a big advantage, same way TOB hasn't been made not safe for HC accounts, because "its too late to change it now".
I support, but maybe we also re-brand all current GIM accounts as "Group Aluminum Men" because they don't take the iron seriously. Then we make the necessary GIM changes.
