This may trigger some Older Realism players, like myself from when this game mode first released @Real Alan I'm looking at you  :P

Realism is a 2x Game mode, with it's own separate economy, between Realisms. But if you play it you already know that..  :D

I've been on and off in recent years but I've always tried to stay true to the Account that here on Alora I have put the most time into.

Since coming back recently it just feels like a dead game mode, and I say this because of the following reasons.

- Trade post is dead,  no matter what you're trying to sell, whether it's in-demand items, skilling resources, nothing sells. nothing to buy except for overpriced items that were listed months ago.

- I listed a few things over a week ago, yet on recent listings they are still at the top. So what is now the point of it's separate economy now that the game mode has gone "Dead"?

- Not many Realism players? I think this is the main reason why this is happening, what's the appeal on playing this game mode anymore when you can get any account now on a 4x exp rate?

- It feels like I'm playing an Ironman even though I'm not, sure I could reach out to other realism players, but there aren't that many around anymore, especially late game?

So I guess what I'm trying to put out there is there anything that we can do to revive this game mode?

- Merged Trades with Normies and Classics? Yes Realism items have their values but there's not longer much of a point in this because hardly anyone plays, instead resources and Gear now just becomes scarce because everyone who does play just keeps hold of them, because there's no one to sell them to...

- Maybe some sort of extra bonuses to playing this game mode? (Drop rates, clue rates, discounts on certain things?) Not sure where I'd go with this one but there's got to be something that can set it apart from other modes, what is there for new players anymore to be like "This is the mode for me" because ATM I don't think there is anything..

This post is completely my opinion and completely open for discussion for all of us, but in my eyes I'm just putting in my "Two cents" and seeing what options, views, etc are out there on this subject.   </3

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel like it's time to finally merge economies. Realism is practically an ironman mode because the trading post is dead and mostly every item listed is for an outrageous price. I just don't think there's enough active players on this game mode to warrant things remaining the same. I really value the low xp rates, but it gets old playing as an iron when the game mode wasn't designed to be that way

I'm 100% in agreement with you and I have been on this game mode form the beginning :)

I disagree and stand firmly against merging economies.  If your items are not selling, lower your prices.

Trading post is a bit like playing monopoly.  Every item is like a spot on the monopoly board.

You list the item you are trying to sell and when someone eventually lands on that spot or needs that item badly enough, they will pay your price.

If you don't think items are selling, there is a whole trading post history feature for you to check.

If you're not getting enough bites on the items you are selling, perhaps there is someone selling items cheaper than you or the demand for the item isn't there.

For example, you will not be able to sell saradomin brews for any more than 13k because the shopkeeper sells them for 13k with unlimited stock.

Even if you sold them at 12k they would still take awhile to sell.  If you truly want to sell them fast, you'll need to give players an offer they can't refuse, like 5k or less.

Also, keeping the realism economy separate was part of the deal when realism was created.  Every item obtained was unlocked under the same set of rules at 2x xp rate.

For instance, the challenge of getting 99 crafting goes out the window when players can just buy uncut gems for an NPC on normie.  By merging economies, you'd be ruining the realism game experience.  Items on realism are more expensive for a reason.  It's harder to get to endgame content, so the supply of endgame resources is less.  This makes it worth it for you to grind.  You get good gp compensation for your time killing Mad Angel if you sell the new hallowfell.  You get good gp compensation for bossing if you sell the uncut gems.  Merge economies and all that is ruined.

Lastly, I'm selling realism bank if anyone is interested, in exchange for rank tickets/normie gp to get rank tickets.  I just don't have enough trading post spots.  Plus, I intend to sell as a package.  In my opinion, one problem with the realism TP is the lack of vote books / boosters / rank tickets / bonds available, which all are directly transferrable across game modes.  This incentivizes realism players to swap realism gp for normie gp.  I think it would be nice if the realism trading post automatically allowed realism players access to these transferable game items at a fraction of the cost.  This would stimulate both the realism and normie economies without ruining the unique realism experience.

Another potential solution is to add a "recent buy" and "recent sell" offers section to the TP.  This way players can see what items other players are trying to buy and then collect quick GP by completing those orders if they have dupes available in the bank.  Currently, the TP only shows sell offers, which is why all the items seem overpriced.  If they were underpriced, someone would have already bought them.  Don't you think?  Adding a TP that shows buy offers would fix this.  However, multiple people have already suggested this including myself and variant and were basically told NO by daddy Omicron and gang.

If you think the realism economy sucks, blame the lack of visible 'buy offers' rather than the 'deadness' of the game.  It is very much alive and many players are still grinding.

I see some of your points but it still doesn't change the fact that something needs to change with this game mode to incentivise people to play it, the game modes gone dead and rather than trying to go negative about anything i have said because you are the king of realism why don’t you try and come up with solutions that everyone agrees on to try and save it and not be in denial?

There is a recently listed section in the TP and this is never updated because people don't sell anything, i get that a buy offer would make sense, but its now a dead game mode for the reasons i posted above regardless of your opinion it’s now fact, how many active realism do you see daily? 5-10? Newbies wont stick around because there’s nothing telling them apart from an xp rate that you can nearly get on any other game mode

The appeal was initially the separate economy, community, when that’s not there anymore it’s becoming obsolete so people are playing other game modes, and unfortunately one man’s opinion is not going to change whether economy’s get merged etc if there’s enough going for the idea

I can understand the frustration with the trading post, especially for newer players, but I personally wouldn't want to see the economies merged.

For me, the separate economy is a big part of what makes Realism appealing. The slower progression and having to actually work for your gear and supplies is the whole point of playing a 2x mode. If we merge everything, I think we risk taking away some of that identity rather than fixing the actual problem.

That being said, I do agree with Real Alan's point about vote books, boosters, rank tickets and bonds. If these items can already be transferred between game modes, why not make them available through the Realism TP as well? It would give players another reason to use it, create more opportunities to trade and help GP circulate without flooding Realism with supplies and gear from other economies.

I think the answer is to make trading within Realism more accessible, not remove the separate economy altogether. Keep what makes the game mode unique, but give people more ways to participate in its economy.

I gave realism a go a while back but ended up giving up on it. With how my gameplay and interactions were going, I thought I might as well just play EIM. Could've just been me playing the game mode wrong though.

Either way, I reckon this should be polled privately among the current realism playerbase, maybe with a 1.25k+ total level requirement to vote, rather than having people who don't even play realism giving their two cents. Feel like the focus should be on keeping the current realism players happy, not catering to newcomers at the expense of the people who already play the game mode.
